This is a great, honest auto repair shop. I have taken my 1999 Honda Accord here a few times in the last 3 years and have been impressed each time by the customer service the owner, mechanics, and technicians display. For example, the first time I stopped by the shop, the mechanic noticed my car was low on oil. He added a pint or two and that resolved the issues I had observed. He wouldnt accept payment for diagnostic services or the oil and just suggested I bring it back the next time I need any work done. So you better believe Ive been bringing it back ever since, even just for routine oil changes. Ive received excellent customer service every time and can trust the repairs and maintenance work advised.
They were so willing to fit me in the very next day to replace my battery on my hybrid, when the dealership said it would be a 10 day wait! They were helpful and honest- they never even suggested to upcharge me for anything that I did not need. I will DEFINITELY recommend them and they are now my ‘Go to Auto Repair’
I brought my car in because I couldnt figure out what the issue was and they diagnosed it in under 20 minutes. minus a wait period for the piece to come in, this group was punctual, informative and answered any questions I had. All of this for a fair price. High recommend them if you need some help with your car.
I suggested my son take my Honda Element to this shop to replace the electric window motor because it was listed as a AAA certified shop and offered a 10% discount on labor. They presented a quote/work order but neither my son or the shop discussed AAA discount. I told my son to ask about it when it was time to pay and whoever was collecting the money said he would have had to say something prior to acknowledging the work order. Really??? That’s pretty cheap and shady! Do they do something different if there is a AAA discount involved? Not impressed. With that said, the issue is fixed and my son said they did it pretty quickly so in fairness this is a 3 star review! I won’t be using this shop again though! I like taking my business where they look out for the customer and try to help them save money any way possible.

Had a bit of a struggle to fix the A/c on my f150. I wasnt completely satisfied so I called Jim back and told him. I brought both my vehicles in for possible repairs. Jim is one of the most knowledgeable and honest service repair managers I have dealt with. After the inspection of both cars there were numerous problems, but rather than trying to sell me repairs, he explained that they would run more than the car might be worth in the long run. I wasnt charged for the work they did. I would recommend this shop to anyone and will return there whenever I need service.
If you have repaired the car here, congratulations, you are very lucky because it is very rare. If your car is not repaired, even if you are within the warranty period, they will not replace it for you more than once. Instead, they will ask you to find a car dealer for help. When you ask why you still need to find an additional car dealer during the warranty period, they will say that a technician is like a doctor. You can’t expect the doctor to completely cure your illness. Even if I cure your illness, there are other side effects. Paient cant blame the doctor. If you want to ask for a refund, they will say that even though it was not repaired, we paid for the labor and replaced the parts, so you have to pay for it. When you want to ask them what error codes they have worked for, Jim will refuse to answer and hang up the phone rudely. When I saw more than one comment complaining about Jims rude service attitude, I was relieved that everyones eyes were sharp.
Ive used Canyon for work on my truck on several occasions and theyve been great every time. Jim has been incredibly helpful, and I trust him to tell me when work needs to be done and when it doesnt. My truck is also a bit unusual, and not the easiest to work on, so its great to find a shop that will work on it at a competitive price. The work has always seemed to be done well and theyve been awesome about turning it around quickly. All in all a great shop, Im really glad Ive found them.

I brought my car in as I saw their ratings online. This is the first time Ive used this company. I have a 04 Infiniti. It was making a weird noise. I brought it in for a diagnostic. They told me that the crank had issues and that the fix would be $3000-$3800 depending on cost of parts. I then asked what it would cost to put a new engine on. They quotedme $5000. This was after me and Jim looked through his computer and looked through parts. I noticed when looking through parts with him, that they do a 50%-75% markup on parts!!!!! I was blown away at how he sold me DISCOUNTS on the parts. I realized if I just go to autozone which is where they get there parts, Id save hundreds of dollars. So I did get my o2 sensors, oil, spark plugs, ect. They told me it would take 2-3 weeks to put everything together. 2 months later it was almost finished. At this point I looked into other companies even before my car was done to see if this is normal for a engine swap. EVERYWHERE I went said that it would barely take 2 weeks to swap an engine. I ordered the same original engine that they guaranteed would have less than 50k miles on it. When they finally called me and said it was done, I was thankful at this point to get my car. I asked them about the warranty on the engine. Jim said they give NO warranty on replacement engines. They as well said that they will give me NO paperwork stating the milage on the car. At this point I told them to keep the car and Ill get a lawyer.Diamond automotive which is 2 minutes away. Took the time to show me each engine price ranging from $1400-$1800. He informed me that they dont do mark up on parts as they arent a parts store. SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT. They get paid for the labor to install the part. I went back very upset and Jim informed me they would give me a 90 day warranty on a $5400 engine with parts that were put in. Jim also tried charging me again for my spark plugs, oil, window washing fluid, ect which I quickly told him I purchased and it was much cheaper than his crazy amount of markup they put on materials. Anyways I ended taking my car. I have no idea how many miles are on my car. I have no warranty truly.Like many say. If you want to be taken advantage of. This is the place for you. BE WARNED. THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN
I received such honest work from Canyon Auto that it would be a crime to not share my experience. I had been to a different mechanic shop in Beaverton, that charged $120 for a very subpar inspection, and ID’ed an issue that had already been resolved (years ago). They wanted to charge me $800 for a water pump replacement that wasn’t needed. I shopped around and Canyon Auto was the best quote at 1/2 the cost. Shortly after dropping off my car, they called me confused as to why I thought the work needed to be done. I shared that I had been told this work was urgent due to a leak. They said there wasn’t a leak. They proceeded to complete a much more thorough inspection for FREE. In the end I paid very little for needed routine maintenance, and am grateful to find an honest mechanic shop. I couldn’t recommend them more highly.
This is the third car that we have taken to Canyon Auto Repair for miscellaneous repairs. Jim is always friendly, easy to deal with and very knowledgeable. I trust this repair shop and will continue to bring my cars to them whenever we are in need of repairs.

Great honest car repair place. Ive been coming here for years and they always find the issue and give an honest estimate for the repair. They are also fast and have things done when they say they will. They repair all sorts of cars and really know what they are doing. The mechanics are all ASE certified as well. If you are in need of car repair this is a great place to take your car or truck.

The post-repair report was top notch with clear guidelines to help me move forward with other items discovered if I want to. I had an amazing experience at Canyon Auto in Beaverton. My Subaru Forester needed quite a bit of work done on it, including new head gaskets, valves, serpentine belts, timing belt tensor, spark plugs, etc. I spoke with Jim and he told me to bring it by and they would give me a quote. The quote I received was cheaper than any other place in the area, and the quality of work was exceptional. I was out of a car for about a week but Jim updated me frequently on the status of my Forester. I got the car back and its running better than it ever has in the four years Ive owned it. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this shop to anyone.

They fixed a steering gear box that came off the frame, that no one else thought was repairable and sealed the exhaust manifold for a lot less than other places quoted.
My car had the service engine light on so I took it here to diagnose. When I was dropping it off, I also told them that it was due for oil change. They let me know that oil had seeped into valve and one of the coil is completely out. They said to replace all spark plugs, valve cover, coil, etc, which will cost about $2200 and they let me know that the alternator belt and rear brakes also need replacement, which will total around $3000. So I told them that I dont want to fix it because I am going to buy a new car and trade this in. Yet, they went ahead and replaced the engine oil with synthetic oil for $85, which makes no sense. I explicitly told them not to fix and just put it back together and that I will be trading it in for a new car. But nope, they still supposedly changed oil and charged me $85 for it.
My alternator in my Honda went out this morning and Jim was super helpful. I had been stressed out all day trying to find the best quote in the area and Jim was not only able to beat my other quotes, he was helpful and honest about everything else that was or could potentially be a problem with my vehicle. I appreciate good business and honesty and well very satisfied. Will be returning my business here and recommending them as well!

By far the most honest, fair & friendly auto shop Ive ever had the pleasure of giving my business. Ill go straight back without hesitation the next time I have an auto repair need. The wires from my coil fried and left me stranded in my truck on the side of the road. I called around and this shop was by far the friendliest and even said they would work on the truck as soon as I got it there. After getting it towed, they found the burnt wire from the coil and diagnosed the problem in just a few minutes. After just under two hours of work they had me on the road again, and for a reasonable price. If you are looking for a place to take your vehicle, I strongly recommend these guys. One of the best shops I have ever used. Thanks guys!

Ive been going to Canyon Auto for a few years now and Ive always had a great experience. I used to take my 2003 Rav4 there. It was old and needed a lot of love, and they constantly worked with me to keep it going for as long as possible. The folks that work there are very knowledgeable and friendly. I know next-to-nothing about cars, and they always talked me through the work that needed to be done and Ive never felt taken advantage of.I recently bought a Prius, and still bring it Canyon Auto. Theyve handled my oil changes and when an unexpected low tire alert came on, they scanned my car and added air for free. Theyre really great people and I will continue going there as long as I have a car!

My car was struggling to start. They ran a diagnostic to find it was the starter that needed to be replaced. When I picked my car up, the starter didn’t sound right. So I brought my car back in the next day and they agreed the new starter was not working well. They re-did the replacement and my car has worked great ever since! I appreciate their fast, honest and good work.
My Jeep lost heat at the coldest part of the winter. Called NW Jeep and they said “how about the Friday after next?” I said ”how about no thanks” Canyon Auto Repair was able to meet up the next day and diagnose and fix the issue. Great people, great service!

Canyon Auto Repair is the place to go for any minor or major car trouble (even oil changes!). My minivan is 13yrs old and have high mileage. You can expect a lot of repairs. The first time I had it repaired, I was fully satisfied with not only the repair done but the overall service of the shop. Lee is very knowledgeable. He will not hesitate to explain to you what caused the repair, what has to be done, even why and how it had to be done. He even gives you options that would suit your budget but also explaining the results of such choice. You will leave with the comfort of knowing that your car was taken cared of and you also leave with extra knowledge and understanding. Ive taken my car to Lee a few other times and I get the same awesome service. Thats why I dont mind driving 15miles from home just to take my car to Lees shop.

I had to get my alternator replaced and I called to get a quote. I told Lee that I was on a budget and he worked with me to figure out what I could do to get the best price. When he called to let me know my car was ready he told me a couple other things that needed to be fixed but didnt pressure me to have them fixed by him right then since he knew I was on a budget. Lee was honest about the price that he quoted me and thats what I paid. Definitely going to recommend Canyon Auto Repair to my friends and family.

I had a great experience working with Garrett and his team at Canyon Auto Repair. My Toyota 4Runner suddenly broke down while driving on 217 and we had it towed to Canyon Auto Repair. We are new to the area and had never worked with them before, but I am so glad we found them and used them for the repair! The issue was a bit obscure - after the car was towed into the shop, the issue seemed to go away. Garrett and Ross and their team did a lot of diagnostics and research, and came up with what they were pretty confident was the issue and repair needed. The cost was reasonable and they had the car back to me within 2 days. Its been a few weeks and the car is running perfectly. As a woman, I hold my guard up with mechanics but I found Garrett and his team to be very respectful, explained everything thoroughly, and were extra friendly considering we were first time customers. I hope we dont have more car troubles, but if we do, we will be coming back to Canyon Auto! Thank you!
My husband and I have taken both of our cars here in the last two months. I knew it was time to have my car checked out, and he was having shifting problems. Weve been in almost every weekend since the beginning of february and never once have we had an issue. Jim at the front desk is friendly and knowledgeable, making sure you understand why your paying the prices your paying and being 100% transparent about what you need to get done ASAP, what can wait, and what he thinks your best route is. I moved to the portland area 3 years ago and Im so glad I found MY mechanic. Please, think about bringing your business here. As a woman Im always skeptical when dealing with mechanics because I feel like most mechanics think us women are easy to take advantage of but at canyon auto repair I feel like its a place I can trust. The mechanics are knowledgeable and take their time making sure that the right problem is solved. If you need a fair and honest mechanic this is the place to go!
I called to inquire about fixing some electrical issues with my car that suddenly popped up, and Jim who answered the phone was extremely rude and blunt. Asked me one question about my car and then proceeded to sigh and tell me “he’s super busy but can put me on hold”. Before I can even say anything, he’s gone. After waiting for about five minutes on hold, I hung up and decided to take my business elsewhere.
A friend recommended this place. Called and got a quote on Monday. It was significantly cheaper than the dealership, so I ordered the part. They called on Tuesday and said they had my part and painted and ready to install on Wednesday. That is only 3 days to get my bumper fixed. Prior to calling, I took it to the dealership and was quoted higher than Canyon. Plus, the dealership it would take 7-10 days to get the part and painted. I would highly recommend this place. Fast, reasonably priced, and high quality workmanship. Im 100% happy with my choice.
Very friendly staff but not the most cost effective. An oil change and tire rotation was $118 for my 2016 Nissan Sentra, and if Id called around first I would have found better deals elsewhere.
STAY AWAY!!!!!! I brought my car here for a 120k major, yet routine maintenance (no real issues with it). They took over 45 days and $3k to complete it with numerous (8-10) attempts to say it was complete, only for me to arrive and find nothing but issues and leaving without it. The shop manager had told me my particular car can be difficult, and one of the mechanics I spoke to had admitted to using youtube to try to figure out a problem they created. After many ignored attempts to speak with the owner to try to find a better solution, besides continuing to have the mechanics at this location preform the work (who clearly shouldve turned me away from the beginning based on my difficult type of vehicle), I gave up and took the car to the dealer to see if they could undo everything these people got wrong (another $1.5K in repairs). The dealer found some very concerning issues. Less expensive parts that shouldve been replaced were not (owner states they were keeping my cost down as I requested due to a limited budget, yet I was up-sold on other much more expensive items), vacuum hoses werent hooked up or pinched off completely due to poor quality workmanship, hydraulic lines were routed incorrectly, a brake squeak was the same (brake pads were fine, wouldnt have chose to have this done if the squeak wasnt going to be resolved), old gaskets were reused and installed incorrectly completely missing a bolt hole, bolts were not tightened completely or barely threaded into place. It wasnt until I filed a complaint with BBB that I finally got a response from the owner (not a call or a meeting but through the BBB email). I eventually ended up in court to try and re-coupe the $ I had lost. This was the first time I was finally able to meet and speak with the owner. He showed up with one of the shop managers, and did nothing but lie, deny any wrong doing, interrupt, talk over, and blame/degrade me and my vehicle. I was able to score a small victory but didnt re-coupe all of it as our justice system is also somewhat flawed (a signed letter from a certified mechanic cant argue against lies told in person by a certified mechanic). I hope this owner sleeps well at night in knowing he completely screwed over a honest, hard working family just to make $3K, when he couldve simple refunded the labor $s from the very beginning and moved the car to his other shop or anywhere else to correct things and got all gold stars from me. Choosing to do business with this place has been an absolute nightmare as I am still dealing with issues costing even more $. If you still choose to do business with these people after reading this, I wish you the best of luck, you might really need it.

During the crazy snow storms of early 2017 I discovered that my 4wd wasnt working in my jeep. We recently moved back to Portland so I have no mechanic. I took my jeep to my hometown mechanic and had it looked at....bad transfer case. The cost to fix it was going to be a couple thousand dollars.Because of that I waited to get another opinion. After reading some reviews I called Canyon Auto Repair. They got me in that same week, charged me EXACTLY what they quoted me, which was a few hundred less that my first quote in my home town. They finished my car in two days and were friendly and communicative along the way.Finding a reliable, trustworthy mechanic is very valuable. Im so happy to have a go-to mechanic.My car is running like new, Im a happy customer.

I am a long time (over 15 years) customer of Canyon Auto, and not only are they the best mechanic Ive ever had, they are one of the best businesses of any kind with whom Ive had dealings.It is rare to find a business who does a great job at a fair price. When you do find one, you naturally keep going back. And over the long haul, you will eventually hit some bump in the road with even the best of businesses. The true test of any relationship, business or personal, is seen only when something has gone wrong. This is where Canyon Auto earns my highest praise. Even in a case where my car had been broken into during an overnight stay, Canyon Auto fixed the damage even though I was fully prepared to treat the incident as a car insurance matter. Canyon Auto has consistently delivered flawless customer satisfaction even for the most difficult to solve problems.I am no shill for Canyon Auto. I am just a satisfied customer. My girlfriend took our car here looking to get a quote on a problem we had been having. They told her $120 for a quote which was the cheapest we would find, and after calling me I told her no we could get it done for half that, and then they agreed to do it for half. Should have been a warning sign right there. We were then told we would have to pay $600 for a sensor that might fix the problem. So we said no and Walked away, $60 down. I decided to look into the problem myself before taking it anywhere else and after about 15m on Google, I found that the problem was probably the tone ring that works with the sensor, and after looking under the car sure enough it was cracked and just hanging there. How they could have missed that or not started there is beyond me, or maybe they just wanted to take our money. How much did the tone ring cost? $10. I ended up buying 2 sockets, an extender, a wrench, a propane torch (to heat up the ring Before installation), everything I needed to fix the problem, for about $70. It took me 2hrs to do myself, probably a 30m job with a lift and pneumatic tools. We took the car here because of the good reviews and people saying it was priced fair, but what a joke. If you dont know anything about vehicles dont take your vehicle here, because they try to sell you $600 of parts you dont need, plus labor on top.
Ive had my car in here 3 times and theyve always done a fast and efficient job for a great price. Friendly customer service and very knowledgeable staff. Almost every other place in Portland I have brought my vehicle has let me down except Canyon Auto Repair.
I was thoroughly pleased with my experience at canyon auto repair. i didnt feel like i was being cornered by a salesman forced into buying a bunch of services i didnt need. the service writer was very informative in explaining what was causing my car to run badly. they had an affordable estimate ready in a reasonably timely manner. the repairs were made much quicker than i expected and my truck ran like a champ when i got it back. i shopped around before deciding to bring my car to Canyon Auto Repair, although i did find more affordable places but the initial service walking through the door at most of them scared me off immediately.
I have had nothing but good service from Canyon Road auto repair. I have been taking my 1996 Honda Civic there since the garage opened. They have helped keep it running for more than 100 K miles. I find their rates are reasonable and wait time for oil changes very short. My car is always fixed right the first time. I dont feely any pressure to have service done that i dont think needs to be done right away and they are truthful with me about things like how much of my brake pads are left.
Lee was extremely accomidating in helping me get my vehicle back on the road after a collision several years ago . The craftsmanship. was excellent at a very reasonable price. I have used Canyon Auto for all of my auto requirements since. I would highly recommend Canyon Auto Repair for all auto service.

Such an honest mechanic shop. The dealer told me I needed a $1200 minimum repair so I brought it to Canyon Auto Repair to check it out and get an estimate. They called me back and said nothing needed to be done. They could have made an easy $700 and I wouldnt have known the difference. Instead they chose integrity. This is the second time they have saved me money.They have a customer for life.
Lee and his friendly employees have done excellent work on my Mazda, they are always quick at letting me know what needs to be repaired and keep the cost down. Im new to the area, and my 2013 Mazda 3 broke down suddenly. I called Herzog Meier Mazda to have my car towed there for repairs, and they said they wouldnt be able to even look at my car for a whole week. So I called up Canyon Auto seeing that they were a AAA approved shop nearby. They were able to take my car right away & provided me a ride back home. They assessed my vehicle, tracked down the Mazda specific part that had failed (the mass air meter), installed the part, & had the car finished and ready for pick up in under 4 hours from drop off. Honest, quick, and reasonably priced service. I highly recommend and will be using them for any car needs in the future.
This auto repair place is trustworthy, honest and great to work with, I highly recommend them to everyone. we have three vehicles and they take care of them all. they are efficient and reasonably priced.
Spoke with Steve and Russ who were extremely helpful and very polite. Had a busted serpentine belt, towed it to the shop, had it fixed the next day. ACTUALLY, found THE cause of the serpentine belt breaking, which were two pulleys and some bad bearings and replace the whole thing that day cheap. Highly recommend. Made my broken down car scenario go away in less than 24 hours and effortless!

We would highly recommend Canyon Auto Repair! We have been going to Canyon Auto Repair for almost 10 years now. We have 2 vehicles both over 10 years old, so we go in quite often. They are always completely honest about what work needs to be done, what work doesnt need to be done, and what work can wait a while. He is always respectful to me as a woman. When our truck was recently totaled in an accident, Lee helped us find a new vehicle by offering advice on options and pre-inspecting vehicles before we purchased them. He saved us from a real Lemon! This shop refuses to listen. My alternator was failing and I called them and they said that they have time to replace it. I dropped my car off when they opened. They called me at 5 saying that the alternator was good and they didnt want to replace it. I explained how the battery light went on and off several times on my way home, what the voltage was when I put my (Fluke) meter on it when it was running and with the engine off. They still didnt want to change it, I was told to drive it and keep and eye on it. That is one of the worst pieces of advice I have gotten. I gave them a simple task, I didnt say I wanted them to look at it or tell me whats wrong, I told them to change it. I think what really stumped them is I disconnected the battery overnight so I could save as much energy in the battery as possible, and the computer didnt show any error codes. Im an old school shadetree mechanic, I dont need a computer to tell me that a part is failing.
First I just wanted to say that I dont have alot of money and when my car died on me I was really scared of getting ripped off I called everywhere looking for a good price. I called these folks and explained the situation, I told them that I did not have road side assistance so did not even know who to call for a tow. They did the following for me1. Recommended a great towing company who did not rip me off2. They Listened to what I thought the issue was with looking down on me because I did not know about cars3. They gave me a very accurate quote, in other words they charged me exactly what they said they would for the work they did4. During the repair they noticed another problem that needed to be fixed that made my car dangerous to drive. When they called me regarding the matter, they were not pushing in anywaythey let me decide if I wanted it fixed. And again charged me exactly what they said they would for the extra repair5. I told them I may not have the money for a few extra days and they were more than happy to hold my car for me until then6. about two weeks after my car was repaired I had an issue with my car which was completely unrelated to the repair work being done. I called them and they told me to tightened the bolt to the terminal on the battery. The issue was fixed, they helped me instead of saying the ever popular bringback in. Only an honest shop would do thatThanks again guys I hope never to need your services again but if I do I know Ill be in good hands
I called around a few auto shops, one didnt even answer they put me on hold straight away. Canyon however were quick to pick up the phone, polite and precise. Very thorough in gettkng to the bottom of our problem and kept us informed and up to date every srep of the way. Very pleased with the level of expertise and billing. Follow up was a very nice surprise.
I found this auto repair from my mailman and let me tell you, I have never had better service. Theyare upfront and honest with their word and the work is superb. They work with you and that to me if everything. Bring a woman I find it difficult
This guy knows what hes doing! I was really impressed with his work. He gave me the best price out of all the other body shops, and did an excellent job .He called me frequently to keep me in the loop, and did everything with my approval. The best experience Ive ever had with someones service!
