This is a very nice neighborhood market, very nice, but small. They have some interesting food items here, and a heck of a lot of craft beers from around the world to choose from! One thing that would make this place even better is if they would seriously consider adding some South African beers to tie collection, because I never see any around, and South Africa does have a great craft beer scene. There is also an outdoor beer garden right beside the building, which has a few rotating draft beers and food.

I use to be a Regular here for over 3 years, I came in part because of the Butcher Shop and beer selections that they provide and its a simple fast and go *pick it up yourself* service and not an Over the Counter butcher shop where you have to wait.Recently though I found out the Main Butcher there is no longer working. I asked who the Butcher was, and there is NONE.Theres hardly any product on the shelf that use to be there. The Owners of the Business are never present when I have been there. after 5 p.m. on my workdays. The voicemail on the phone is always full too. The emails seem to never be responded to in a timely manner.I dont know what happened to the butchers, but it seems like there is no responsibility or ownership of the entire business and it looks like it when you walk in. I dont know how they even afford to stay in business with how things look just by observing as a customer.Their Website is misleading too, last year I asked about Whiffle Tree Pork products and the young man said they only carried their Eggs and Chicken. Why do you have Whiffle Tree Pork sponsored on your website? They took a picture from another businessess profile.Pretty Lazy if you ask me

There are two areas, a mostly outdoor beer garden popular with locals in the evenings and weekends, and an indoor grocery/butcher/beer mecca. I notice a lot of negative reviews are for the beer garden. Cant say Ive been. Instead I go out of my way to pick up interesting cans and bottles to take home. Large and interesting selection with good regional and Belgian beer options. Every single time I walk away with fun new beers to try. Dont miss the refrigerated beers in one of the middle aisles. It may not be the cheapest in Arlington but I dont think Westover has a nearby competitor in terms of quantity and variety of beer choice, all while checking the local business box.

Westover Beer Garden has become our mainstay during COVID 19 for outings. We are cautious where we go, and the Westover team have established and maintain solid distancing and cleaning standards, which are followed by all staff and customers alike. And in terms of offerings, the beer selections are excellent (usually about 8 on tap, usually including some excellent locals) and the food is very tasty (ranging from burgers and cheese curds to fish and chips to Korean dumplings).Update (2020-11-15) - Westover Market’s beer garden has installed area heaters for the coming colder days of winter!

We were so disappointed with our experience here today. We ordered brunch sandwiches, hummus, dumplings and burgers. The sandwiches came half an hour before the rest of the food which meant that half the party could eat while the rest watched. Not even the hummus made it first. The dumplings were fried and not tasty. The burger was ordered medium rare and came well done, oddly salty and obviously dry. Service was a bit rude. Obviously we won’t come back.

My wife and I were enjoying dining outside in their garden area then ordered two drinks when and uncaring manager on duty asked us to leave within ten minutes due to over use of the table. A policy that wasnt explained to us by the waitress, bartender or this manager. When I held my ground and said we were going to drink our beers (expensive stouts) without rushing he continued to badger us to leave. Again... I said we are going to finish our drinks without guzzling 8% $$ beers, to this he replied you must leave now and youre not welcome back. Wow. What a huge overreaction to two valued clients just wanting to enjoy the beers they had no problem selling us at the kiosk only minuted before. Not sure why this guy had such an axe to grind with customers, but it will never happen again with us.We have been patronizing this grocery store and restaurant for 8 years and were appalled with such inconsiderate and overt treatment inflicted upon us. Dont worry Mr. manager on duty, we wont be returning and it has nothing to do with your extremely unwarranted request!

High rating is mainly for the beer garden/restaurant.Regarding Beer Garden: Good food/specials, good draft beer selection, fun outdoor atmosphere, great staff. If you want to relax outside with a beer by a fire in the winter, or listen to bands in the summer and eat good food while you do it, this is the only place in Westover to do it, and they do it well. They also have a book club and a science night. Its really great.Regarding the Market. Beer selection is good. Market is a bit more expensive than it should be. Produce is mediocre at best. Not really a very good market overall, but the only general market in reasonable walking distance of Westover. The upside is that they have a really good and sometimes exotic meats, and tons of beers. My high rating is really for the beer garden/bar which I wouldnt want to give less than 5 stars. If I were rating just the market, it would be 3 stars.

The reviewers who complain about prices seem to be incapable of understanding that this isn’t a chain supermarket or bar and, therefore, can’t take advantage of a simple concept, available to larger companies with more liquid capital, officially referred to as “economies of scale.” It’s a family owned one-off—anything that doesn’t sell has a huge negative impact on the bottom line, and to make it in high-tax Arlington you have to adjust prices accordingly. These folks do the best they can to find a balance and to maintain diversity of stock. I am old enough and have been in the area long enough to remember the grocery store that preceded this one: limited selection of everything, no bar, and no kitchen. Elk and wild boar meat? Then? GTFO already. The advent of Westover Market dramatically changed the social scene in the area for the better, and I’m very thankful for this. We locals have a place to gather and be social, all while enjoying good food and drink. Is there a premium for this? Of course there is, as is typically the case for anything of real value. This kind of establishment is a rare and valuable thing. Respect it and patronize it accordingly, or hypocritically bemoan its absence later if it should fail and be replaced by a Starbucks. Don’t wait till then to suddenly realize the value of what you once had—it will be too late.

We had an awful experience at the Beer Garden this morning. We ordered a meal for myself, my wife and daughter, and my parents this morning around 1015. At 11am, we asked where our food was and was told that everyone had ordered at the same time and that our food would come out when available. This was difficult to believe as we saw people who ordered after us already receiving our food. After waiting an hour for our food, we were told that the restaurant was out of two of the five meals that we ordered. Our daughters meal was eventually brought to us, but after waiting for over 1 hour and 45 minutes we eventually gave up on ever receiving our food. The wait staff was kind enough to take the food that we never received off of our check. But, we were offered a perfunctory Im sorry from one of the bartenders who also told the other bartender that they had expected to have to refund customers for food they never received.I am extremely disappointed and upset that on a special occasion the Beer Garden was unable to serve its customers. I simply dont understand why this happened or why something wasnt done earlier to address or try to correct the situation. Im also very disappointed with the casual apology that I received from the bar staff. If this is the low level of service that the Beer Garden is going to offer, you should explain that to your customers before they order food and drinks, especially on days like Fathers Day.

Good food, beer, but rude deli counter people!!!! I like this place a lot for the beer. The food is also very good but the guys in the deli are so rude. The other day my friend and I went here to pick up their smoked BBQ and the deli counter guys ignored us. We patiently waited and when they greeted us they seemed annoyed that someone want food to go! I really like the food and was trying to introduce it to a friend. She asked what sides she could get with her meal and the guy told her "I don't care." very weird. I know they smoke the meats out back and they are yummy. However, while my 20 minute wait for our to go order I watched the deli guys warm brisket in the microwave. I like good food but hate the idea of people warming food in a microwave. They have a great place but the guys in the deli need to step up their game. No one wants to treated so rudely. I will give it another try and well see.

Every day they serve up a selection of some of the best beer in Arlington. The selection rotates frequently, so the chances that youll find something new are great. The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable, and make fantastic recommendations. They have a great selection of standard bar fare, as well as more exotic specials such as the wild burger of the week (gator, boar, camel, etc.).The atmosphere is family friendly and there is often live music playing on the patio. Westover Market recently lost my business by refusing to honor their shelf price even when shown the tag. I find their prices to already be the highest in Arlington. Ive tolerated that in the past because the beer selection is good, it is convenient, and I like to support local shops. I suggest walking across the street to Lost Dog Cafe instead. The beer selection is slightly smaller but the quality is stellar and there is much less filler. It is also a local store, the service is much better, the prices were slightly better and their mission extends beyond running a business, which may partly explain my experience as a customer.
