I’ve been a customer for 19yrs and have had only great experiences. The repairs have always been completed properly and in a timely manner. The repair costs are reasonable. I even purchase my tires there. In short this is the best place to have your vehicles serviced. Oh the staff are great as well.

I found this wonderful full service auto repair shop for my second opinion for my Honda all my indicator lights came on after leaving the dealership two days later. Originally I thought we had finally found a decent mechanic. We took our Hyundai for inspection and what not a few weeks ago and we’re pretty happy with the service. I felt the price may have been steep but I’m no mechanic so I really don’t know what average prices are for certain things.My other vehicle recently broke down so I had it taken in there. They called me and we talked about it, I asked them to please diagnose the issue and let me know, I also mentioned it needed an oil change and inspection/ emissions but wanted to address that AFTER we figured out what the mechanical issue was.Later that afternoon I got a call and they suggested doing the inspection and emissions BEFORE diagnosing the mechanical issue. Why would I want to do that? So I said no, I need to know what’s wrong with it first because it’s an old, high mileage car and depending on the issue it may not be worth fixing. “Ok, I totally understand that we’ll call you once we take a look at it”The next day I get a call and I’m told that it needs anywhere from $800-1k in engine work. Exactly my fear and why I said- no service to it before I know what’s wrong with it.I decide I’m not having it repaired and then I’m told I owe $187 in diagnostics and an oil change. I’m sorry what? You did an oil change on a car that needs 1k worth of engine work? Which one of the problems is A VALVE/gasket leak?! You thought an oil change on this non drivable car with engine problems was a good idea? So they say, uhm yeah maybe that was our mistake. I agree. Then I’m called again and told, so we took off the labor charge ($20) but we still have to charge you for the filter and the oil. So you will owe $153Excuse my French but that’s the dumbest sh** I’ve ever heard. So needless to say we won’t return here ever or refer a single person. With the Hyundai two weeks ago we were assured at drop off that no work is performed until the estimate is done and approved by the customer. Now my non drive oil leaking car has fresh oil to leak while it sits in my driveway until I can figure out what to do with it. What a waste of my time and my money.

I found Stouchs Auto Repair Shop on Google, after searching for auto repair shops in York. The service to my vehicle was exactly what I had researched. The price quoted was reasonably and the service was done in a timely manner.

I recently got my entire brake system worked on at Stouch’s. We had EXCELLENT customer service. Everything was wonderful up until the point where I received my car to drive home. My drivers seat upholstery was completely covered in a thick layer of grease. Whoever sat in my car has permanently stained the upholstery. We are extremely disappointed. If you do choose to do business with Stouch’s, you will need to remind them not to sit in the drivers seat if their clothes are dirty.

They are extremely helpful and kind. I always feel that they are being honest with their prices and services. My husband and I will absolutely be coming back here for all of our services

Stouchs Auto is a trustworthy, reliable and caring shop. When I moved to York in 2017, I was worried about finding a mechanic I could rely on after having my uncle do work on my vehicles for my entire life. I was immediately blown away by their honesty and they are very reasonably priced. One night, I called the shop in a panic when my car wasnt starting at 7:30PM. I was going to leave a message for them to call me back to make an appointment first thing the next morning, but Phil, the owner, answered! He told me he liked to keep his work phone on and at least take calls at night. He chatted with me for 10-15 minutes about the issue i was having and what might be causing it. Again, absolutely blew me away with kindness! Then, they proceeded to fix the issue! I cannot recommend Stouchs Auto highly enough. They come through for me time and time again and I know they do for all of their customers.

Professional, friendly, detailed, capable. I spent months trying to find a garage that will actually do engine work on a conversion van before I tried Stouch’s auto repair. My engine oil pressure gauge would drop to zero under idle in gear when the engine was warm and the engine was losing coolant. They were very clear about the options, expected costs and potential complications. They replaced the oil sending unit at the quoted price and my oil pressure is excellent. They pressure tested the engine overnight and found a coolant leak. Great job. Very pleased.

I had been going to the same shop in Maryland for 10 years that I loved and trusted. For almost 2 years, I searched for a shop in the area that met those same criteria. After some bad experiences, I stumbled upon Stouchs. From the moment I called to schedule an appointment to picking up my car, everyone I encountered was professional, knowledgeable and courteous.I had a few issues I needed addressed as well as routine maintenance. They called with an estimate and went through the priority of each item so that I could wait on certain things if necessary.Last but not least, my headlights were yellowing - bad. Getting them cleaned/restored had been on my Wish List for a while but I didnt think I could afford it. At Stouchs, it was affordable and they did an Amazing job! Driving at night is a world of difference now.If you need work done on your car, I highly recommend Stouchs. Their reviews speak for themselves and were spot on!

These guys are awesome! Service was fast, honest, courteous, and excellently priced. They diagnosed all of the issues, told me what repairs were necessary and which could wait. They let me know that my sway bar and bushings should be replaced, but that it wasnt a high priority, and quoted me a price of $200+ for the repairs. As a point of comparison, Jack Williams Tire and Auto in Harrisburg quoted me $800+ for the same repairs. They also gave me a loaner car that they let me keep over the weekend while the repairs on my car were being done. I will definitely be going here for all of my auto service needs and would HIGHLY recommend these guys.

These guys are amazing! I called in late Friday morning because of car issues and they told me to head in at 1:30pm so they could take a look. They communicated with me throughout the entire process and answered all of my questions so thoroughly. They give off a very good and honest vibe - which is so refreshing considering I usually dread going to a dealership or anywhere else to get my car fixed because I know theyll nickle and dime me as much as they can. Definitely will be returning for all of my auto needs going forward!

BEST PLACE EVER to get your car fixed. Phil and his crew are everything you need in car care and more!! My first visit was in the summer of 2017 and a week later, I moved to Baltimore. No matter, I continue to drive the hour to Stouchs, even for something as basic as an oil change, and its worth every mile. My car is in top condition, and I credit Stouchs for that. I dont have to even think about maintenance schedules, because they keep track of it all. They never make a move without clearing it with me first, and their prices are more than fair. Their records are so good that they can tell me everything Ive had done since Ive been going there. To top it off, theyll give me a loaner car to run errands while they are working on mine. Before leaving, they always let me know what is coming up in the way of routine maintenance. They go above and beyond, every single time. LOVE LOVE LOVE these guys. Stouchs is OUTSTANDING.

My car developed an intermittent brake problem while in Philadelphia and I had it serviced at a local shop. Several days later, they diagnosed/fixed the issue, and I was on my way back to York. Before I made it out of Philly, the problem reoccurred! I had it towed back to the service station and a few days later I was back on the road again. This time I made it back to York before the problem resurfaced once again! I took it to my local mechanic Stouch’s Auto Repair Shop. They gave me a loaner to get home and an hour later they had diagnosed the problem and said they could do the work the next day and Ive not had a problem since. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and highly skilled professionals. The next day I upgraded my AAA plan so I can get a tow to Stouch’s from anywhere within 100 miles.

Had a flat tire and my regular dealer couldnt get me in. Called into Stouchs to see if they could fit me in, and they were able to repair my tire right away. Phil, the owner, was very helpful. The head mechanic was really nice and explained everything to me and the owner, when I had questions. I felt like they were ethical, honest and helpful. They answered all my questions and refused to do a service for me, because they felt it was only going to be a band aid instead of a permanent solution. They actually suggested I would buy another car rather than waste my money. They could have made more money off of me by telling to just fix it, but they chose to discourage me from wasting money. We will definitely be recommending these guys to other people. We never went here before, they got us in very quickly and were very honest and upfront. They could have sold us a lot of extra work but instead gave us the option and what their thoughts were had it been their own vehicle. Its hard to find auto shops that care about people more than the mighty dollar.

Excellent customer service! Experienced and friendly technicians.I have a 1999 Saab that had a broken water pump. They diagnosed the problem, gave me a quote over the phone and repaired everything the same day. I would say that their prices are reasonable. I also came back to follow up on a noise I was hearing in the engine and they helped me out immediately. Will definitely return for any repairs and maintenance in the future.

We took our Subaru there for an unexpected repair and had such a great experience. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable and the prices are very fair, especially considering the high quality of the work and how quickly they completed it. We will definitly be taking our vehicles there from now on and cant recommend then enough. Thank you!

Let me preface this by saying: I have never been to this shop for any routine maintenance or repair, and the staff seemed to be knowledgeable, articulate, and efficient. However. Absolutely do NOT go here with any kind of check engine or undiagnosed issue. They charged me nearly $230 in diagnostic labor with an additional $180 dollars for the labor itself. There was also an insane markup on the part price, over $120 for two spark plugs. All together Im out $530 for simply replacing two of my spark plugs. To be fair, I do drive a subaru and I understand the plugs are harder to reach than most manufacturers. But still. I feel like I was taken advantage of and overpaid by at least $150, probably more like $230. Never ever go here unless you are absolutely sure what needs replaced or dont mind paying nearly double for good service. That being said, they did get me in quickly(two days) and had it repaired the next day

Used Stouchs a few times now for items outside of my knowledge base or too busy to work on at the time myself. Twice for a wheel bearing change (Jeep Patriot) and once for an oil change and inspection for my wifes vehicle (Toyota Rav4). The auto shop is an individual owner, but partnered with Napa. I believe all, if not most parts are under Napa warranty so if any issues occur you can take your vehicle into any Napa certified auto shop for replacement. The benefit of an individual ownership shop is also on display with knowledgeable staff that go the extra mile for customer satisfaction. If any issue arises that was not previously discussed, they will contact and inform you of the circumstance and present all options before they proceed further. Both times for my wheel bearing the wheel axel thread (nut/bolt which might strip the threads specifically) was in a rusted condition, they stopped work and contacted me. They were able to perform the wheel bearing change without having to replace either axel. It was still appreciated Stouchs took the time to explain everything just in case there was a worst case scenario. They were more expensive compared to another local auto shop, but worth it.Edit: They also provide loaner vehicles free of charge if you need transportation. I believe they just ask for you to replace the gas you use.

Jeff and the crew at Stouchs Auto Repair are the only repair shop I will use in York County. They are knowledgable on all different makes and models and are always upfront and fair in their pricing. They also will let you know when items are starting to deteriorate and when they absolutely need attention giving you a chance to prepare for expenses. They also provide free loaner vehicles while they work on yours. Service, integrity, commitment, and knowledge like theirs is hard to find in the auto repair industry.

Bait & Switch Tactics... We had a coolant leakage in our SUV. After visiting another local garage for a diagnosis/estimate, Stouchs Auto Repair was highly recommended to me by two co-workers for a second opinion. Both are now embarrassed after seeing my experience and are taking their business elsewhere.My wife set up an appointment to diagnose a coolant leakage around our water pump. She was quoted $35 - $65. I dropped the car off and carpooled with my coworkers. When dropping off the keys, I wrote on the envelope what I deemed to be symptoms of the same problem. (Engine occasionally overheating, check engine light on, temperature gage cuts in and out.)Later in the day, when Stouchs called my wife, they said it was the Water Pump - which we had already known...but they offered no specifics (bad gasket, bad unit, bad installation, etc.) And they also took the liberty to top off our oil at our expense. And SURPRISE! - They were now charging us over $130 for the diagnostics. Thats a wildly steep price increase with NO courtesy call before they went beyond the original estimate given. Then adding insult to injury, Stouchs estimate for replacing the water pump was over $300 MORE than what the other local garage had quoted. And that first garage didnt charge us for their diagnosis.This experience cost me $100 more than the original estimate, with no meaningful work done. But now it cost Stouchs two of their previous customers, and hopefully many more potential customers who read this before falling victim to the same tactics.

My first time going to see these guys was right after I moved, and I was looking for mechanics who I could trust. With a slight emergency, not only did these guys get me in that day, but they fixed my issue and did a thorough (free) inspection of the rest of my Jeep. The owner and his guys are nothing but respectful, courteous, kind, and very fair. They got me in and out in about an hour and I wouldve paid twice the amount somewhere else. I just wish I wouldve found them sooner!

Went to the shop with a couple of problems. Had a previous mechanic tell me what the issues were, but I didn’t have the money for the repairs at the time. At Stouch’s, instead of just fixing what “looked” like the issue, they actually did some investigating and found out the true problem was a repair that would cost less money than what I was quoted at the other shop. I really trust them to not take advantage of me, a young woman with little knowledge about cars who has been taken advantage of in the past. Absolutely the best mechanic I’ve seen, and I recommend them to anyone and everyone!

Best staff around, tells you straight on repairs

I was in search of another repair shop after my previous go to just straight up stopped working on my car. Never got a bill either, it was weird and the issue i brought it in for was not fixed.I googled places that offered loaner vehicles since the attraction of the former shop was that it was across the street from my house. That’s when I ran across Stouch’s.They took it in despite the bizzare circumstances, got me in a loaner car and got the issue resolved. I appreciated their explanations of what was going on and I’ve brought it back for additional work since then. Each time I’ve been satisfied that they were being honest and upfront with me and the pricing has been reasonable as well.The loaner car program is a life saver and more places should offer this - yes there is a limit on traveldistance from the shop with the loaner car but I am able to drive to my house in Yoe so I figure it’s pretty generous.Cars go quick and seating at the shop itself is extremely limited if you end up having to wait there so be prepared. They also don’t work on Saturdays so keep that in mind as well when you’re planning.

GO HERE!! I had been to a chain garage corporate owned and told something would fix my oil leak...paid a few hundred dollars and the problem didnt stop. Went to Stouchs and they gave me a loaner while they looked over my vehicle, called me with quote and diagnosis and they fixed it the next day!!! For less then what the same chain corporate garage who incorrectly diagnosed my vehicle told me it would cost. Very nice people and will be going back for the customer service and honesty they provide.

I can’t say enough good things about this place!It’s hard to find places you can trust. My husband and I both trust these people. He said it’s the best mechanic shop he’s ever dealt with and I agree 100%. We started taking our vehicles here after reading reviews and seeing that they had courtesy loner cars available(very convenient). They have the best customer service I’ve ever experienced and go out of their way to help and accommodate. Two specific examples I can think of...In the winter Jeff had the loner car heated up and ready for us because he didn’t want us to have to get into a cold car. Then just today we were headed on vacation and had to pull over because our truck sounded like the muffler fell off and was dragging. We looked under the truck and saw nothing. We called stouchs, Phil said he would gladly come out and try and help us out. He came right away! He found the problem in literally 30 seconds. Our muffler heat shield was broken and rubbing against our exhaust making a horrible noise that could be heard by everyone around us. We are pulling a 36 ft trailer which amplified the noise . We were parked in a k mart parking lot so Phil, my husband and my daughter went in to get supplies to do a temporary fix and get us back on the road. Phil didn’t let my husband pay and he would not accept any money from me when I tried to pay him for going out of his way to come to us AND after hours on top of that! My 6 year old did take 5 dollars out of my wallet to give to him and he only took it to make her happy. We are 20 minutes away from Chestnut Lake and we have stouchs auto repair to thank for that.
