Simmons Automotive did an inspection of a truck I was interested in purchasing. They did a thorough inspection and took the time to discuss the results with me which was very helpful. I called on a Wednesday and they booked the appointment the next day! Overall I was very impressed with their professionalism and prompt service.

Austin is THE BEST!!! I have been here multiple times and he is always super friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. He will tell you everything you want to know about the repairs you need and how important/urgent they are to get done. This is the only place I want to take my car for repair. Everyone there does an incredible job. They are quick and reasonably priced. They let me drop off and pick up my car before or after hours which is very convenient. I highly recommend!

This place is so great! I had my car towed there and they do a general inspection on your entire car and let you know how everything looks and then recommend services. I love the way that they send everything over to you electronically and include pictures of everything they fix. No awkward conversations about what you can afford, you just approve or not approve a service. Great place and totally recommend!

I was not a customer but I had the distinct pleasure to watch the interaction between the owner and several of his customers. I was very impressed with his straightforward approach to his customers, caring attitude and honesty to the point of admitting an error and making it right with the customer. This is where I want to take my vehicles for repair!

I brought my 20 year old Lexus in for a significant amount of work. I left it for the day and Simmons arranged a rental car through Enterprise. At the end of the day, a Friday my car was not done. The owner called and told me he would pay for my rental through the weekend so they could finish my car. I told him the rental wouldnt work for me as I was driving my elderly parents to Spokane for a family event and needed a car that was large and comfortable. The owner sent me to the Enterprise lot to pick out any car I wanted for the weekend, and he payed for it. My car was ready Monday and I was able to drop off the rental at Simmons when I picked up my car. My car runs like a new car again and we had a great road trip! The repairs were done well and at a fair price. We have found our family mechanic! The folks at Simmons took care of me like I was family!

I took my Nissan Altima here for several issues a noise I couldn’t identify and a front suspension issue. From the time I walked in the staff were awesome! Friendly, personable, and explained the process clearly.I was blown away by the technology Simmons uses to review their findings and communicate clearly and transparently. At no point was I wondering what the cost was going to be and what was going to be fixed. I accepted the request using their software and it was off to the races. The quote included pictures, an explanation of the issue from their mechanic and an itemized quote. I was able to also communicate through their software and my note was promptly responded to.The actual repair took less than a day.My car drives like a dream. Can’t say enough about this experience. The best I have had in Tacoma. Do yourself a favor and go here for your auto repairs!!!!

Always pleased to come here. Everyone is always friendly and professional. I prefer this small business over taking my brand new vehicle to the dealership for servicing. I never pay for more than I was bargaining for, unless something were to be seriously wrong! Some places try and get you to buy this and pay for that. You definitely don’t feel that pressure here like you do in most places.

I went here because of check engine light. They worked with my warranty company. I had a new radiator and fuel evap canister put in. It was pricey. They did a good job getting me back on the road. I could not be happier or feel in better hands than with these guys! It was my first time going to an auto-shop and i had the fears i think we all do that id be given some kind of run around or worked for unnecessary fixes. Leslie and Dean have been so pleasant to work with and have been entirely honest and helpful. Dean also assisted in contacting my warranty company himself to see what they would cover, which went better than i think it would have should i have been the one who called. I absolutely recommend this place to anyone and will be coming back for any future fixes.

I was recommended this location by my two coworkers, both of whom used Simmons in the past and couldn’t recommend anyone higher. I’m glad that I listened to their recommendation, because these guys are no joke. My car broke down after about 3 years of neglect, and needed major repairs. They took my car on delivery from a tow company while I was at work, which was amazingly convenient. From there, they immediately began diagnosis of the problems, and had a detailed list ready for my review online within a few hours of beginning work. Once I approved the numerous repairs through their website portal, they were able to turn my car around within 48 hours. They replaced a serpentine belt, brake booster hose, replaced my right front axel assembly, fixed electrical problems I was having with my turn signals and tail lights, and a full fluid flush and replacement (cooling system, oil and transmission fluid). I was thoroughly impressed by their customer service and attentiveness to the issues facing my vehicle, and their ability to simply get the work done, even as I added new repairs throughout the communication process. I will be recommending Simmons to anyone that I know who needs their vehicle serviced, and will be back myself. Thank you guys for getting my baby back on the road!

I had my 2003 F150 towed to Simmons to get the engine checked out. I told them my engine was seized and wanted to know what was wrong with it. I was moving halfway across the country and had to leave it there so I could have it fixed, fly back to Seatac, and eventually drive the truck to Texas. Their customer service and response time was very quick but for what they quoted (11k+tax) I was able to price parts for at $3500. It is $3000 for a crate engine (with a better warranty 5 years) $500 of suspension parts. There’s just no way labor should be $7500 on an engine swap and an idler arm amd some ball joints. Granted I’m not counting other things they were doing for the truck but my radiator didn’t need to be replaced nor the ignition or hoses they included in the engine replacement quote.On top of all of this my truck was broken into while on their property. So, I ended up paying them for a diagnostic fee only for them to tell me my engine was seized which I already knew and for my window to be replaced because it was broken into while It was there. I ended up having it towed out of there and shipped all the way to my new home in San Antonio because $2000 to have it shipped and finding a different shop is cheaper than having this company replace an engine. If you like your money I’d probably try somewhere else. They are decent people and have good customer service they always reply and call you back but their pricing is well above what I’d consider reasonable. Who is going to put 11k into a 2003 pickup?!?

I cant say I get enough good things about this place. Took in my 1990 Toyota pickup truck that was running super rough and had a lot of unqualified tampering from the previous owner. I was continuously updated by notes and photos from what they were doing. Communication was spot on. Picked up the truck today and its a totally different animal, the drive is so smooth no longer smelling like exhaust. I highly recommend these guys if you need any repairs done on your vehicles!

This place was so helpful! We went in for an awful squealing noise thinking it was just a bearing or a u joint and not only did they diagnose the problem, they found the cause of why it kept happening and was very up front with the cost of the repairs with no crazy run around. They even provided pictures of the issues and gave the truck a complete look over to make sure they didnt miss any other issues. I will definitely be taking all of our vehicles here in the future and recommending them to all of my friends and family. Austin was the gentleman who helped us out!

I was referred by my friend Art Cherry, and though Simmons did not fix my 1998 Kia Sportages problems, they gave me a list of issues, and the recommendation that perhaps my 22-year-old car was beyond saving. Mind you, it went to Simmons on a flat bed because it would not start; I drove it home because they did do that much.Another thing they did NOT do is tell me I needed a part fixed that my last two mechanics said needed replacing after one of them allegedly did. I told Simmons about that part and was told it wasnt an immediate issue.I dunno about you, but I really really like that sort of honesty, and once I have a vehicle worthy of Simmons services, I will be back.

Though because I know these are a people I can trust it wasn’t hard to fork out the extra money. I took my car in to have the catalytic converter cover re-installed, because Meineke didnt do it correctly. But once your people looked at it, even though it wasnt right, it was installed so it will be VERY hard to get it off. They said they COULD try, if I wanted them to, but it would cost twice as much, so we just left it! Their honesty made me a customer, although my Prius doesnt require much! Thank you so much!!! We heard scraping on our right front wheel, and since we’re new to the Tacoma area, we were looking for a car repair place that we could trust. We based our find on the reviews we saw, and chose Simmons Automotive. We were able to set up an appointment pretty quick; and they were clearly knowledgeable and helpful. When we went in, told that they would send everything over via email (and phone call) with possible options where we could look over the estimate. Whenever we called, Austin or Dean, gave us the information we needed to make a decision about what to do. The brakes and rotors were done that day. Everyone (including owners, son Austin, and mechanic) were respectful and thoughtful, and gave us the information we needed. We were looking for a good repair place, and we believe we found it!!! They also identified potential problem areas. These areas were legitimate and not intended to drum up business. Simmons is easily one of the most honest and competent auto repair shops I have ever dealt with in my 70 years.

We placed the winning bid on an oil change package years ago, and have been satisfied customers ever since. The team at Simmons has helped us keep our 19 year-old Toyota with 225K+ miles on the road, and our newer vehicle running strong and aging well. Austin and the guys were great! I had neglected the maintenance on my car for some time and it was running poorly. They did a full inspection provided me with a detailed list of what needed to be done. They took the time to answer all of my questions, were fast with the inspection and repairs and were quick to communicate anything I needed to know. The cost of the repairs were legit too. It’s a way longer story than this post will go into but the short version is this:I have a history of shops losing my trust and giving me the run around. I also do most of my own car work and have friends who can almost always help if I don’t know how to fix something. The few times I have gone to a shop, it has been rough. Not here though. I had a complicated repair on a modified off road vehicle. The process was long, involved, and I didn’t have time to do the work. A trusted retired mechanic I know recommended them and I’m glad they did. Throughout the whole process they would keep me informed with phone calls and a web portal with photos and videos. They were honest when they were charging me as they got to the bottom of the problem. They have earned my trust like no shop has before. They have a lifetime customer for when I can’t do the work myself. I highly recommend them if you need work done! Easy 5 stars!

The staff were fantastic! Very professional and transparent - which is refreshing. They use an online work order sytem that lets you see screenshots and info to decide on what you want done. The sent me status updates regularly. Overall very satisfied and would definitely go back.

I went to Simmons for a second opinion after being told by the Honda dealership that I needed around $2,000 worth of work on my 2014 Honda. That sounded ridiculous to me and sure enough it was. The people at Simmons were so helpful and thoughtful! They spent about an hour doing a full inspection of my vehicle. As expected, I did not need the expensive work that the dealership was trying to push on me. Unbelievable! I was able to spend a quarter of that performing good maintenance work on my vehicle at Simmons rather than going broke over the $2,000 worth of bogus work at the dealership... I hope that Simmons is around for decades to come! There honest and thoughtful approach with very reasonable prices has turned me into a loyal customer! They are good people!! GREAT SHOP. Ive had a run of bad luck on cars the last little bit but Simmons has made the experience a lot better. Austin and Dean are always upfront and you can really tell that they want to fix the problem and not come back to you with a huge invoice of menial repairs to run up the bill. Theyve worked on several of my cars and they do a great job. Once I had a repair they had done fail, I called Austin and he got the car back in right away and fixed the problem for free( it was a faulty part not the service provided). Cant say enough good things about this shop so Ill stop here before this review gets too long.

I brought my 2010 Jeep in for repairs after it had been sitting in a backyard for 10 months. There was a laundry list of items that needed to be addressed. The Simmons Automotive team did an outstanding job tracking down and repairing all of the issues. They even found a hidden squirrels nest under the dashboard and cleared it out. My vehicle was ready on the day they said it would be and the price was under the original quote. Austin kept me informed about the progress being made and repairs required throughout the entire process. My only complaint is that there was a longer wait to get my car in than I would have liked, but that is to be expected when you find a service that is so clearly above the competition and everyone wants to use them!

The diagnosis cost half what I expected to pay, perhaps in part because of their military discount. Strongly recommend this shop. I trust them to give me an honest assessment and a fair price.

I initially left a one star review because my car had been damaged while in their hands (side view mirror), though it took a while for them to fix, I must say, speaking to Dean was very assuring, and I felt like I couldn’t trust him to fix the damage. Per Dean it took long to fix because COVID pandemic made it a challenge to get the part desired and in a timely manner. Dean made sure to keep following up and trying to get the part needed for the car, and once he was able to, he called us in to make sure it fit and was what we were happy with. He then sent the part to get spray painted to match our vans color. Currently, I have been advised it is ready for placement and they are now waiting on me to have a date to come in to get it fixed.I must admit it was quite stressful driving around with the part in its condition and took a lot of trusting on my end because it was taking a while to come to a resolution but Dean kept in touch, was able to speak to me in a manner where I could trust him and made sure to fix the damage. Hands down professional and can trust Deane for accountability :)

My 1995 ranger was having problems starting, I took it in and were fast, informative, and kind. Turns out its not worth fixing, mainly because the parts dont exist, and there were lots of other problems to be addressed. They reduced down the cost of the inspection which I greatly appreciated. They offered to look at any car I might want to replace my truck. Ive since called with a question about whether or not a certain make and model would be a decent option and they again had great customer service and answered my questions. I think I have found my long term mechanic, I am sure I will be back.

Great people, great service! Usually very quick with getting back to you about what your car needs and its status. They also offer an online update so you don’t have to fuss about calling regularly and asking where things are at. And they never do any services without your permission first. I’ve had bad experiences in the past like at jiffy lube where you go in for an oil change and they do three other things and force you to pay. But here, they’re kind and conscious of your time and money.
