Best car buying experience ever! I drove from Charleston because I was not happy with the service I was receiving from the local big name dealers. Garry Commander and Carol Gibson were very professional and provided me with all the information I needed when asked. Dont be fooled by the fact this dealership is not brand new with a $5000 espresso machine. In the long run customer service is all that matters.

Impressed, I was traveling from Columbia home to Myrtle Beach from the doctor when I experienced auto trouble found myself on the side of the road, eventually towed to McLaughlin Ford service department. From the moment I called on the side of the road to the moment I arrived at the dealership, I experienced professionalism and courtesy, when they were unable to assist me that afternoon, I was provided a loaner car so I could go home to Myrtle Beach to rest in my own bed the next day they fix the car I returned their loaner paid a fair price and drove back home. It is very rare in today’s society that you find this sort of service especially during Covid my hat is off to the service manager and all those who assisted me. I also had an opportunity to meet the owner BILL McLaughlin while waiting in the service lane talking with the service technician and service manager great people I would encourage anyone to do business with McLaughlin Ford, Sumter, SC.

IMO a horrible Ford Dealership.A negative review would be more helpful.For the record, when I scheduled this service appointment, I told your staff there were three concerns:1. The brakes vibrated when hot.2. The was a clunking sound in the front end, primarily when braking.3. Vibration in the front end, possibly having something to do with the alignment or suspension. Which was very noticeable when driving at a higher rate of speed.Your service department not only did not correctly complete the bleeding of brake lines. Additionally, they completely missed the drivers side lower ball joint that was ready to fall out and also missed the worn bushings on the passenger side, which caused the clunking sound.One of you employee backed this van out of the service shop, and it did not have functioning brakes.One of your employees conducted a road check of the van, and it did not have functioning brakes.One of your employees parked this van in your parking lot, told the service tech that the repairs were completed and ready to be picked up, and it did not have functioning brakes.You returned the van to me as repaired, and it was not safe to drive!I find it astonishing that a Ford Certified Dealership would miss such prominent suspension component problems and the other items. The substandard quality and failure to complete the work are serious liability issues.Additionally, they have not returned my phone calls or responded to my email messages. If you need service, you should probably find an alternative!

I stopped in before my trip back to Texas with concerns about my windshield wipers not working properly. Although they were very busy. They took the time to help me out and ready for the road. Now, I can make my trip with a sense of security that I wont be stuck in a bad position if I come across any heavy rainstorms. Saw a 2018 Lariat advertised on their website. Drove 50 miles to look at it to find that it had dealer tags on it and was being driven by a McLaughlin employee. That was encouraging... must be a good truck if the salesman wants to drive it! Then the salesman opened the door... and the wave of nicotine and stale smoke poured out of the truck all over me! Disgusting! I cant believe the owner allows employees to smoke in vehicles they offer for sale! You can bet I wont try this place again!

This was the first time I had a bad experience at McLaughlin Ford in Sumter SC in over 20 years. It took over 2 weeks to have an oxygen sensor replaced in my Ford Expedition due to lack of help in the service department. I understand not having enough help because that has become the new norm in the US thanks to President Biden. But, I think the service department should have at least called to keep me up to date on how much longer before my truck would be repaired. I felt the sales department could have assisted with making the calls and worked together as a team to satify the customers that have been loyal customers for years. I was just disappointed with the experience this time.

Worst Ford Service Department I’ve dealt with in my life... makes me embarrassed to be a Ford owner. Promised numerous times to call back about getting my airbag recall fixed (this has been ongoing for 6 months now, with at least 4 calls), offered a mobile tech to come do it, and now they’re saying I have to come to the dealership to have it fixed... I wouldn’t trust anyone to touch my car behind the scenes after the customer service this place supposedly has...The only thing this dealership has going for itself is the Parts department.

The sales manager does not have the customer first mentality. Was given no inspection paperwork once the vehicle was purchased, no owners manual in which I now have to buy myself BUT was told they would get me one, my driver door window or door seal still is not sealing correctly allowing for a wisping sound when on the highway. There are a few more issues as well but corporate ford has been made aware. Not to mention a small repair job on the wheel well looks like a day 1 apprentice did the paint job. Leaving bubbles, masking marks and black particles that arent able to be pictured imbedded on the new paint .UPDATE on my 2nd time having my truck looked at for the same 2 issues. All the service manage could tell me was well I cant hear any sound coming from your door or window its probably just the mirror and outside wind. I couldnt hear a difference in your speaker so theres nothing we can do I PAID $1900 for a premium vehicle care plan and you cant replace a door/window seal and a speaker! I then asked where is my paperwork on the work you did .......the response I get from the service manager well I do not have any paperwork they didnt give it to me, but when they do ill mail it to you really? Your going to mail service paperwork to me, how do I know you even took time to check any of my issues I explaimed. NEVER have I been told this by any service department anywhere. There is something very shady going on at this dealership. I am not asking for an engine replacement, transmission etc. There are 2 very small issues that you dont want to take the time to listen to the customer and hear them out when they say there is a problem and replace two items. I am extremely disappointed in this dealership and will let all military members here at Shaw how this dealership really works. Mr. Mclaughlin, I hope you read this review because this deserves your attention.

At first I was very excited and happy to hear that McLaughlin Ford was going to be getting Ford Transit van in stock, and was promised that there would be no problems getting that van. My salesperson. Was Jason, and he told me on several occasions that they were waiting for it to be delivered any day, and that I could come look at it, and all I would have to do is sign some papers, and I would be riding. He had all my information to secure financing and get acted as if it would be no probkems when the van arrived.I called him on the day the van was supposed to be there, and he told me that it had been delivered to them with a cracked windshield.he told me that it would not be there now until Monday because they had to get the windshield replaced this got held up another time by saying that the wrong windshield was ordered. My frustration was growing but Jason still sounded upbeat about making it happen so I patiently awaited the van. The day the van was supposed to be there I went into McLaughlin Ford and spoke with Jason.he informed me that the van was still not there and at that point let me know that he was having trouble getting me financed. I was taken aback by this information and quite honestly extremely let down. I asked him what if anything could be done because now I really was in a bind for the van seeing as how my own vehicle was not functioning.he told me that if I had $2,000 down that he could get me in a vehicle but it would not be the van he had promised.I told him again that I would not have that kind of money to put down and he asked me what I could put down.I told him $1,000 would be the maximum amount he went left his office for a few minutes and came back and told me that was $1,000 down he had a Honda Fit for me. This is a stark contrast to the van that I needed.I had no choice because at this point I had no transportation so I let that happen and wound up with the Honda Fit which I am highly dissatisfied with.I believe I was misled from the beginning giving false hope and then had the rug pulled from under my feet when I arrive to the dealership. Seemed it was a classic example of bait and switch now Ive got a very small car which doesnt fit my needs, a subprime finance agreement with outrageous interest rates and very very upset. upon the filament of the terms of this finance agreement I will have paid three times with the blue book value of the car is worth.I could have picked another dealership to work with but I was invested in Jason, and I was expecting him to keep his word.other than that everybody else at the dealership seem to be real nice and the selection of vehicles look to be very good unfortunately I was not able to take advantage of that selection.please use caution when dealing with them because what they say is not exactly what they mean.

I was very satisfied with my visit to McLaughlin. I did have a mechanic look at a tailgate stair closure problem that I am not sure about the “repair”. I know others with the problem I had and I suspect the problem will occur again. There is a spring that got out of position in the stair handle assist and it kept the stair from closing completely into the tailgate.I think this is something that Ford Engineering needs to investigate and develop a solid solution. I looked on the Internet and could not find any reference to the problem. My cousin and I have the same truck with the tailgate stair and we both had the same problem. The mechanic at McLaughlin Ford managed to get mine working. Since this is a sealed part the problem could occur again.

This is probably the WORST experience buying a vehicle Ive ever had. During a week of communication between myself and MULTIPLE people at this dealership, I drove an hour and a half to buy a truck that we had a purchase order for. There was an agreement in price, and PRINCIPLE. Upon arriving at the dealership, we waited patiently to discover that the vehicle was sold the day before. We were not notified about the sale before our trip, and the fact that NO ONE knew that the vehicle was sold is utter GARBAGE. I guess that this is the way they do business at this Mickey Mouse joint. Good luck.

My car has been in the shop since Monday,from a recall that was NOT fixed when I put it in back in 2019, now the problem is way worse!! I was told that I would get a loaner car, well Day 4 no loaner car, no nothing! I call at least 3 times a day to ask.. not once was I gave an update on my car, or loaner. VERY RUDE lady in service NIKKI, Answered today. I called back and left a voicemail for the owner, Mr. McLaughlin today. This place here is a JOKE! My parents and I bought my son an F150 from McLaughlin in November. Less than three months later it seems to have transmission or sensor issues. We took it in on a Monday after we called and our salesman told us to and were told we had to wait days for an appointment. We brought it that Friday at 7:30am. Once it was in we tried calling for 3 days before we even got an answer. They finally answered on Monday and said nothing was wrong, come get the truck. Between our 20 minute ride from home to McLaughlin they said it needed a part that was going to be $530. Plus they would need a $120 diagnostic fee. I called Bruce, our salesman, who confirmed that we were now going to need $660 to repair a truck that we were assured had passed a full diagnostic test prior to us buying it. Then we found that it could be repaired for $300 at another Ford dealership. So thats where well be going. Thats not how you keep a loyal customer. I myself was waiting until tax time to trade in my own 2004 F150 for a smaller Ranger. Now Im looking at GMC Canyons or Toyota Tacomas. Weve owned Fords most of my life but they just lost our business.

My father took my Ranger into the service dept. to have the air conditioning converted from R12 to R134. They took his couple hundred dollars and did what they (service dept) called an AC conversion; the next day the AC did not work. He took it back to them they wanted to charge him another $120 but ended up agreeing on $60, which he should not have had to pay. Next day the AC did not work again. He then parked the truck very frustrated with it. I now have the truck back in my possession and trying to fix the AC and what I have found is that all they did was pull the R12 out install the R134A fittings and charge it with R134A. To someone who knows nothing about AC systems that sounds logical. I am licensed and work on AC systems for the Military so I know what is required to do the job properly. When doing a conversion like that the receiver/drier, condenser, orifice (filter), and compressor should be replaced. All the lines and evaporator need to be flushed. Now since having the truck back the compressor does not work. I pulled the filter and it is covered in metal from the compressor, which makes it obvious nothing was flushed. I know the condenser was not replaced nor the receiver drier. Now the truck has to have a new AC system thanks McLaughlin Ford! Your service Manager is a crook and your techs clearly have no idea what they are doing. I will never do anymore business with you nor any of my friends and family, I would hope anyone who reads this review will also heed this warning and also avoid your service dept. This review is not even worthy of one star.

This was my first new car purchase and the salesperson I worked with made me comfortable. A month after purchase I ran into some issues and had to have a radiator replacement from a 3rd party mechanic.. these guys ended up reading the reviews and made it right. While we have always owned Fords and will continue to own Fords, we have never had such a horrendous experience trying to purchase a from this dealership, no answers no returned calls nothing. We will be taking our money elsewhere... I would much rather drive 100 miles away than to do business with this small poorly run dealership

I LOVE my Ford 150 (2017), we bought it brand new in August 2017 after going to many many dealerships. My salesman is not just a salesman but a new friend and Family member and that’s exactly how you are treated coming in. Our Truck gets serviced ever 3 to 4,000 miles not the manufacture recommendation just old school by us. Yes I am looking for another ford for my daughter and we have been in several times looking, and we have narrowed down to two different vehicles it’s her second year in college so it will be a Christmas gifts wrapped into making the Deans List and her HS graduation gift. The service department is awesome and yes we make appointments out of respect for the Service writers time and the mechanics time to bring our truck in to be serviced. We also unfortunately have had the pleasure of meeting the body shop man in charge because we hit a deer this past weekend so we will see how they do with our vehicle getting our truck repaired but I wouldn’t use any other dealership other than McLaughlin Ford.
