Such a great little coffee shop! I love the patio out back. Simple menu with tasty options, good coffee, and friendly staff. Great place to come and study or just to meet up with friends for a little treat.

This place is wonderful. My husband got a French press, and I got the “Recess”. I’ve never had a tastier coffee. The food is excellent too. Highly recommend!

Wonderful cafe with a small, but amazing beer garden! I had the amazing three-cheese grilled cheese and a latte. The food is not super speedy but is thoughtfully prepared. The selection of beers I like (sours & weisse beers) was small, and I was still sipping on my latte at 2:30 so I didnt grab a beer before they closed at 3. I would definitely come again on another cool day for the food & outdoor seating!

Such a cute little breakfast place! The bagel egg sandwich was just the right size and the cappuccino was the best I’ve had in a long time!

A very well run coffee shop on the main drag in Staunton. Prompt service, delicious food, coffee and iced tea. Reasonable prices. I am a grilled cheese fanatic. The grilled cheese was excellent.

This coffee shop is perfect.They have wonderful employees with smiles, memory, and coffee skills.Its not a snooty place.I like to think of it as a place where humble people who enjoy high quality flavors can fit in.If you enjoy unusual coffee flavors or combinations, they will help ye come up with a drink you like, if theyre not packed with customers.By & By has tasty bagels and bagel sandwiches, along with a lunch menu consisting of classic Sandwiches (e.g.: a Reuben) and soups of the day. These even can be paired with a beer or wine and taken outside to their beer garden if youre in that kind of mood!Theres live (but not overbearing) music playing quite often, and friendly people about. Wifi is also available for those who like to sit and study or work.Certainly every person has to feel out his or her coffee shop to find the perfect atmosphere, but youll not be upset when you give this one a try.See you there!

Horrible experience. The manager chose to discriminate against homeless people. Bagged up my breakfast and threw away my beer and told me to leave. I bought a beer there. Spent $28. Wasnt being loud. The only reason I cracked open my own beer is because it took forever for waitress to bring me a beer. Bagel wasnt seasoned tasted like nothing. Eggs werent seasoned as well . Good job guys. Will be bankrupt in next year if I have anything to do with it. Have fun applying for unemployment. I hope owner reads this and fires you. This is not the way to operate a business!

Great little coffee and sandwich shop. Worth the drive from 81. Ate in the courtyard out back with our dog.

A pleasant spin on the coffee shop attitude. With a broad selection of beer and wine to appeal to modern customers and and decor that speaks of an earlier time, this is one of the finest coffee shops in Staunton. Where you can sit in a church pew and not face judgement for anything and where you can own your opponent in checkers, I encourage you to stop by. Enjoy!

A very long wait for 2 sandwiches. Only to find the cook had prepared them already, but they just sat in the back until we asked after waiting around 25-30 minutes and the employee said oh.....here they are, let me wrap them up........Then, when we went to sit outside and eat, my wifes chicken salad sandwich was prepared heated with melted cheese....who does that? So she went back in to inquire, to be told ...yep everything goes in the panini press.......no comp, no sorry, no return, no making it right. This place really missed the mark today.......

Coffee was all right. Food was pretty good but I didnt like their attitudes so I only gave them four stars. Some people just are cranky in the morning before theyve had their coffee.. maybe the baristas should have a cup of coffee before they start making it?

I usually use a flavored creamer but the black coffee from here is drinkable itself. Amazing coffee.

A staple of the Staunton community. I come here at least twice a week because I know their coffee is good, their bagels are delicious, and the staff is always super friendly and kind. Plus, supporting local business!

They have a great variety of coffees and teas. They offer indoor and outdoor seating but currently with the pandemic there is only outdoor seating and to go ordering at the door.

Small cafe and coffee shop with traditional and bagel sandwiches and soup. A bit of a wait for our food considering we came in during off hours. But the sandwiches were hot and delicious.Cramped but relatively clean restroom.

They use great ingredients and it is all well made. It is a classy cafe that has homemade food. It you are looking for something fresh and filling it is a great place to go!

I can feel the mid-October sun warm on my forearms as I sit at the By and By. This café by day, beer garden by night has a delightful brick patio tucked away behind the shop. Down some stairs, bringing it below the level of the street, it feels intimate with no more than five tables and tasteful landscaping, complete with garden lights strung up on two sides, framing the small enclosure. Bright blue umbrellas shade the modest dark metal chairs and tables. This time of year brings exciting new flavors and old favorites. Their specials board tempts and delights with lattes named Black Cat, Superstition, and the Flying Broomstick. That last one caught my eye with flavors such as marshmallow, brown sugar, and cinnamon. I was heart broken not to try it, as they were out of the ingredients. Hardly surprising with such a winning combination of seasonal flavors. Ill have to either come back or beg one of you for an account of the experience.Any way. 100% would recommend making this your Staunton coffee stop if youre in the area looking for some joe.

Cozy, cute cafe with yummy surprises in store! Delicious baked goodies, delicious coffee, sandwiches and sweet treats! They have a craft beer selection thats quite interesting. Local art hangs off the walls and seating is comfortable and relaxing. Service is always great and the staff treats everyone with kindness! A great place to get some work done, visit with friends or just stop by to take a load off. A shout-out to Hannah, the sweetest server ever!

Great coffee, fast and friendly service, and decent prices. Their breakfast bagel sandwiches are delicious. At least one good vegetarian option with hummus that was really tasty. Would definitely good again. Seems like a nice and quiet place to get some work done as well.

I come to the By & By on Thursday evenings to enjoy the live Jazz music. It is a great place to get a sandwich and relax. Although, they do need to fix their hours on google. We usually come after 6pm, but google tries to tell us its closed.

We visit By & By often and are very satisfied with their pour overs. we have also tried their coffee beans and have enjoyed the locally (within Shenandoah valley) roasted beans. The wait it sometimes long.. as they have good coffee!

Delicious baked goods, coffees, and sandwiches! Interesting craft beer selection. Local art on the walls and comfortably intimate setting. Service is always super nice and they seem to genuinely enjoy what they are doing. Always a good decision!

Delicious breakfast sandwich and perfect latte!

This is a great local coffee shop. I got a spiced chai that ranks at the top of my list and I have chai tea lattes as my drink of choice everywhere as I am not a coffee drinker. There was a great balance of spices with the almond milk. A friend got the vanilla chai and commented that it was also delicious with that smooth vanilla bean flavor vs artificial. The shop is also very trendy with some cool local art up for sale on the walls. Overall a neat place. Highly recommended.

We had two awesome tasty sandwiches that were perfectly put together (chicken salad and a turkey on wheat) extra special mayo made the difference! Yum!

Overall it was a good experience. The sandwich, scone, tea and atmosphere were good. The only disappointing aspect was the hot chocolate, which wasnt very chocolatey or tasty and was not nearly hot enough to handle the cold and yummy whipped cream on top.

Great little place to go year round. On warmer days, the courtyard is a relaxing place to be. There is also an indoor area, of course, with several sitting areas. The place is cozy. There are coffees, teas, sandwiches, and some alcoholic drinks available. Sits on the corner next to the American Shakespeare Theatre and across from a couple of great architectural older buildings, which serve as the coffee shops view.

I love this place. It gives a warm, cozy vibe and I have never had anything bad from them, its always so good!

Good food for a limited menu and a comfortable place. The patio outside is great if you have a dog. Its laid back and the service is a bit slow, otherwise, 5 stars.

We were excited to see a beer garden so close to our airbnb. Now if youre looking for a coffee house with some interesting books, decor, and board games, this could be the place for you. If youre looking for a beer garden on a Monday afternoon keep looking.Its right next door to the Blackfriar Shakespearean theater, so on show nights it may be hopping (pun intended)In general I can see how this place would be fun when it gets busy, but too laid back on the less fashionable Mondays and Tuesdays of the weeks.

There have been times where it seemed like I lived out of this coffee shop. Great place to come work for a bit. Excellent wifi, wonderful friendly staff, and a very comfortable atmosphere. AND a freaking beer garden.

Moving to Staunton and this was the first place we had lunch. It gave us a really great feel for the people, has delicious coffees and food, great service and is relaxing, quick (unless tours are in the area); and, it will forever be our favorite spot. Love it!

This is a great place to kill some time or for getting work done. The coffee and espresso drinks get am 9/10 from me, but Im a former barrista and a bit snobby. Their sandwiches and soups are amazing.

Coffee on the corner has become one of my favorite places in Staunton. The welcoming and laid back atmosphere make it the perfect place to hang out or get some work done. The food is delicious and the staff is incredibly pleasant and engaging. Not to mention, free wifi is always a plus!
