I took a shot at these guys as I needed a new Transmission Multi-Function Switch for my 2000 VW Eurovan. I spoke to Tom on the phone and was very helpful so I decided to being my van in. He installed the part in less than an hour as he expected and charged me for their 1-hr labor (I provided the part myself). The code I was getting has been resolved and the van is running great again. I would definitely go back to Cottman Transmission if I have any future car repairs needed. Tom was honest, friendly and helpful.

Called around for pricing on car repair, the man I spoke to was rude and barely listening to what I was asking. He gave me an estimate that was higher than anywhere else including the dealership. My suggestion...go to MasterTech Auto they are honest, care, professional and have great pricing.

They did quality work in a short amount of time for a reasonable price. I kind of feel they didnt just steal my money, which is a bit of a relief.

Absolutely the BEST, without exception. When faced with a broken transmission on the Monday before Thanksgiving, I just knew that we would be down a vehicle for a couple of weeks. However, Michael and the staff at our local Cottman Transmission(Southport road in Spartanburg, SC) completely surprised us. The turnaround time was amazing, even with my added request of additional brake-work. There is no question as to who I recommend for total car care! Call them FIRST!

Abosoulty the best transmission service shop around, took my van in monday cause it was leaking fluid, they had it taken apart and gaskets replaced by Wednesday it was ready ...not to expensive for the job they had to do..I give these fellas a 10 out of 10 ....I highly recommended this shop....

I have had a lot of costly work done here lately. The prices are by far the best in town for transmissions. I have known Mike Morrison (manager) for many years and he has always been a super nice and honest guy. If I ever have a warranty repair, he always takes care of it with no questions ask and always has work done in a very timely manner.

I am relatively new to Spartanburg and this is the first time Ive visited Cottmans for vehicle service. Mike went above and beyond in terms of inspecting my truck, explaining the issue, and offering advice. He also helped solved a problem with my clutch that was separate from the main issue. Highly recommended!

I had a problem with my car not shifting into gears took it to their shop he had me fixed in 10 minutes very good price bus service in Spartanburg

Went in to buy a few things got to the check out and was told cash only....I didnt have any on me so told the cashier to hold my stuff Id bring back cash. It took a good 5 minutes and when I returned she had already put my things back on the shelves. I left didnt buy anything and havent been in there since.

I am very happy with Cottmans. They were fair and honest with me. My transmission is working great and they got it done when they said they would. I am happy to give them a 5 star recomendation.

Found the transmission leak and replaced the defective plastic cover. Very resonable and honest. They even showed me the part without even asking. Very satisfied.

I had a problem that sounded really bad, but turned out to be a simple fix. The Honda dealership said I needed to have a new transfer case installed. I took it to them and they said they would take a look at it. They fixed it.Instead of taking advantage of me and saying that it was a transfer case that needed to be replaced, they were honest and said that it was just a bracket that needed to be straightened. I wouldn’t have known the difference as the noise disappeared. Instead of charging me $400, they were fair and charged me $45. That’s good people right there.

Highly recommend. Our family was stranded today on our way home from vacation and Michael picked us up since 4 of us couldnt fit in the tow truck. He found our issue immediately and got us on our way within 10 mins of arriving at his shop. He was very honest and reasonable.

Went here for a pre purchase inspection. The mechanics lifts were down but he took a look at the car anyway. He was very friendly and knowledgeable inspecting the car and didn’t even charge us in the end. Would highly recommend as trustworthy people like this are hard to find

Had ac compressor clutch fail on my Honda CR V dropoed the vehicle off at 8 am and they made the warranty claim and had the car repaired by shortly after lunch. Awesome service seems like a really good shop. Highly recommend.

These guys were awesome! Best quote in town, no hidden fees and the best turn around time I found. Not only was I provided exceptional customer service, as they answered all my questions, they had my vehicle back to me two days prior then promised. I would not recommend anyone over Cottman in Spartanburg.

I went in to try and get some advice on a transmission problem and the guy behind the counter couldnt have cared less. Gave me 0 help on what it might be or what to try and troubleshoot. Told me he couldnt help unless he had it in front of him and that it probably needs a total rebuild when I know for a fact it does not. These guys might do good work, but I was very unimpressed with the guys attitude.

Theyre the best. I have always experience nothing but courtesy and friendliness service from them. I highly recommend them for your next car needs

*Great service and fair price - see the rest for details of my experience**I was considering buying my transmission from a wholesale distributor and having a mechanic who I know install it. Total cost was going to be around $2400, not bad for an 06 Acura TL. Then I decided to look up transmission shops to see what the cost would be when I found Cottman. I dealt with Mike who was very pleasant and seemed knowledgeable about transmissions as well as my specific vehicle. He gave me a price estimate over the phone and I was surprised to learn that his price would be about $200 more than my original plan and that I could purchase an extended warranty that would cover all of the parts as well as the labor (if anything goes wrong with the parts they will replace for FREE) for 3 years, 36,000 miles. So now I start thinking about the fact that I was going to have to pay around $4-500 labor to have it replaced, so if anything goes wrong theres another $4-500 out... Mike had a tow truck come pick the car up that same day (free of charge). There was some delay in the repair of my vehicle, but we were at the beach so it wasnt an issue. Mike even allowed me to have my windshield replaced while the vehicle was there (previous insurance claim, not Cottmans fault). Picked the car up when we got back from vacation and it runs great! Mike asked me to bring it back in a week so that they can verify that there are no leaks and that it is running well. All in all great experience from start to finish - would strongly recommend!

Fantastic service and Michael is very courteous. Had a rebuilt transmission on a truck and it works great. Definitely will continue to use him in the future.

The repairs have always been diagnosed properly the first time and the repairs have always been done right the first time. Give them a try youll be happy you did. Make sure you go to the left side of the building or tou will not be at the right shop.

I was referred to Cottman Transmission by a very satisfied customer in North Carolina. I contacted Cottman Transmission of Spartanburg and they fit me right in! My car had been sitting for roughly 2 or 3 years the first time I needed repairs. I was very satisfied with the Excellent service that they gave my 2001 Dodge Neon SE. Through the years their service never wavered; always professional and courteous! When it was time to give my old friend a rest; the staff gave me the bad news and suggested I find something else that was safer for my family. Recently I purchased a used car and it was evaluated and I was even told at how many miles I would need to bring back the vehicle for maintenance! Kudos to Cottman of Spartanburg for keeping my family safe on the roads of Spartanburg!

I had my car towed in to get a rebuild of the transmission upon rebuilding of the transmission they noticed I needed a front motor mount of which they put on.fast forward.Car was complete or so they say. I went up there I paid over 2,000Get in the car I noticed it not idling correctly so I asked them to pop hood I noticed they damaged the vac lines and breather on the car which was causing rough idle, thats cool they fixed it free.Also about the front motor mount they apparently were supposed to fix; I walked around to the back of the building after everything wasnt adding upI noticed Daniel back there messing with the front motor mount I thought he was just correcting issues with the car when I got home I looked and its missing a bolt on the bottom and a nut on top, after calling them upon opening on 7/16 I asked to speak with Michael which apparently has gone on vacation since yesterday but anyways they told me to bring the car up there and he will put a nut and bolt on.This was supposed to be done before I paid for the services and before they even handed me the keys. I am very unsatisfied with the service I have received from this location and will be hesitant about bringing my vehicle back to any Cottman location but after spending over 2,000 I guess I have no choice especially since I have a 3 yr 36,000 mile warranty.

Tried to charge me more to repair my transmission then I could pay for a nice performance transmission. Complete rip off.

I dont know what to really rate it, went to get my transmission oil changed.Upon leaving,it wasnt until I got a mile away I would here this noise.I took it back,something was loose.It looked like it was fixed until a couple of days.Ive had to push the piece back every other day.Its frustrating that I had to get this done, trying to get back
