The go-to shop for your race bike. Some folks have mentioned they think Metier is a touch pretentious, but that hasnt been my experience at all. The folks at the coffee stand are always super friendly. Ted (I think hes the lead mechanic) is kind of quiet, but once you get him talking hes super friendly and helpful. Everyone else Ive worked with there has been great as well.Note: They only really stock the high-end of cycling gear, so you probably wont be coming here for entry-mid level clothing or gear, but where they really shine is in their bike fittings, bike mechanics, and personal training. Oh - and their coffee stand!Anyhow - highly recommend Metier. And - almost forgot - they try to get in you in-and-out same day. No 7 day waiting time here!
Great customer service and competitive pricing: I got back into cycling after a long lapse. Todd offered great advice and set me up with a bike that fits my needs perfectly. Ted and team handled the initial adjustment, subsequent tune ups and a chain replacement. Everyone at this shop is knowledgeable and helpful, and scheduling has always been a breeze. Bonus - the coffee shop / bike shop atmosphere is fun, friendly, and local!
Rented a bike from Métier while visiting Seattle. An awesome bike with great service from everyone I dealt with at the shop. Highly recommend.
I had an issue with how my gravel bike was shifting. I took it to a different bike shop twice however the issue was not resolved. I did some research and came across Métier.I rode to the shop last night. Even though it was past 5pm they took time to look over the bike, discuss what they felt the issue was an even tune the derailleurs while I waited.I rode tonight and literally the bike has never shifted better.Thank you Métier!
I was biking on Broadway and suffered an unexpected flat tire. I limped the few blocks to Métier and was greeted immediately. They had the right sized tube for my somewhat unusual bike (front loading cargo bike, specifically a Bullitt) but tragically my tires sidewall was shredded. They did not have a tire, which is not surprising, but they called up nearby Good Weather and I walked a block to pick up a tire there, then returned and proceeded to fix my flat in their sales floor. They kindly loaned me a few tools (tire lever, wrench for my Pitlock skewer) and a pump.Friendly staff, eye-popping expensive bikes to ogle while killing some time, pleasantly arranged sales floor. I loved the rustic wood floor boards and overall spaciousness of the building. Would happily stop in again for emergency flat fixing needs.
Got my first bike fit and a tuneup. I have to say As someone who was a newbie Todd and Andrew were amazing to work with on fit and service. They helped walk me through every aspect of the fit and decision on some new parts. They did not push new parts on me and even tried to make my shoes still usable even though they were stripped and toast. A great show for cyclists at all levels and really great service!
I brought my bike in twice to, in part, to fix some basic squeaking. The bike still squeaks loudly, and now Im out $200. The guys at the shop were very kind and I liked them, but at the end of the day Im pretty annoyed that my bike still isnt fixed. Not sure why this issue would be difficult to resolve.
I was having knee pain and needed my cleats fitted for my Peloton. Todd was great, the fit is perfect and I’ve been pain free since! It was super helpful that they have a Peloton onsite so I could replicate the bike fit at home perfectly. A little pricey, but I think totally worth it for pain free rides.
Ive been going to Metier before they were at their current location. Todd and Ted are my cycling gurus. Ive purchased a few bikes from them over the years and have always received white glove service. For me going to the bike shop is my favorite store to visit. Going to Metier takes it to another level. If you are looking to buy a mid-level to high-end bike, this is the place to go. If you want the highest level of expertise servicing your bike, this is the place to go. If you purchase a bike from them, the best way to maximize the value is to have Todd do a professional fitting.
First time, but initial impression says it’s awesome and I’ll be back.
Super helpful and fair
After working here for a year and change I can say wholeheartedly that the staff puts customers first and that the management/owners truly care for their staff (also the first job I was sad to leave). Theres no other shop in Seattle that I trust more for advice as well as with my bikes. They will have my business as long as Im in Seattle!
Nice guys and atmosphere. Tim is a top notch professional that was very detail oriented both times Ive gone in to see him for some post bike fit adjustments. Other times Ive seen him for just questions and DIY help and hes been happy to help and talk. Thanks Metier team!
Ted runs a great shop. They are are all about the details and providing an exceptional experience
Have helped me out twice now with touching up used bikes! Very informative and friendly staff. Did parts-free touch-ups and advice on the house for one of my bikes. Definitely my go-to shop in the Cap Hill area.
High end shop that has a full array of all things bike related. Entire staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Ted was quickly able to diagnose and fix a few uncommon problems I’ve run into with my bike. Todd helped get me dialed with a Retul bike fit that was top notch. Go check em out!
Tried to go on a Monday and they were closed (my fault) spoke with a tech outside waiting to be let in. As I am looking for a higher end road bikes and they’re pretty much sold out everywhere due I Covid I asked what they had in stock and received the answer “a couple of SL7’s”. Then a manager (I’m guessing) opened the door and quickly told me al I could do it as come back tomorrow. He then let his tech in and shut the door. I didn’t want to purchase a bike today, I understood the shop was closed, but a little better customer service would have been appreciated. I’ll give them another shot tomorrow and hopefully see improvement from the sales staff.
Needed a tune, new chain, drive train clean, bike wash and rotor tuned... and dang!!!! Andrew in service completely rocked it and the bike is race ready. Always the best service and vibe here. Keep at it Metier. 🤜🤛
Amazing place, highly recommended
The best high end bike shop and bike repairs in Seattle. I’ve been a regular for the last year and have had nothing but phenomenal service from the staff here. Coaching here is also second to none, big results and fair prices.
Needed to get my tires refilled since the pump I bought didnt work very well and the staff filled it up and also replaced the tire cap free of charge. Will definitely go back in the future if I ever need to service my bike.
A fair price and really helpful staff. Would recommend
Todd and Ted at Métier are rare individuals who execute with precision, ensuring that my cycling experience is as friction free as possible. In addition, they also make sure that my wife, who is relatively new to cycling, is comfortable in the space and that her fit and bike are just as dialed in as mine. From bike fit to bike maintenance to training, Métier is the best and most consistent shop I have found throughout the roughly ten cities I have lived in. The Homegrown Cafe which shares space in the shop is a nice addition, making it easy to grab a coffee or something to eat after a ride or while waiting for a quick fix in the shop.
Very professional and knowledgeable.
Very disappointing Pro Tune experience. I paid $371 for two new tires and a tune up. The first ride after getting the bike back had a tube failure due to shoddy installation. They replaced it. A week later, my rear derailleur started making all kinds of scraping/grinding noises. Trust has been lost - I took my bike to another shop to fix their mistakes. I understand mistakes happen, but for the premium they charge, it shouldnt take 3 tries to get this right. Bottom line: Nearly $400 later, my bike is in much worse shape than it was when I brought it in. Simply unacceptable.
Great shop, friendly and knowledgeable staff. It was an interesting concept to fuse beer, bikes and coffee that seems to trending in certain cities. Métier is a cut above the rest with high end bikes and quality equipment.
I expected to pay $80 in parts to fix my bike myself. I took it into Metier and had it fixed for $30. Service was awesome, the staff took the time to explain exactly what they planned to do to get my bike back in working order. They were happy to hold my bike while they ordered parts, and even did a tune up after changing out the parts. All for $30. This place is incredible!
What a great little shop! I stumbled upon this place when I got stranded on the hill with flat tire and no repair tools. The staff were friendly, helpful and fast. From the storefront it just looks like a restaurant, but there is a shop you can access from the alley to the west. Nice to have a reliable shop on the neighborhood again!
Mechanics werent there that day when I stopped in to get my flat tire fixed. Service was slow, it took 30 minutes for the guy at the front to find the right tube and get everything put together. Turns out he didnt set the tube right so there was a bit of folding going on inside the tire, which manifested in a slight bump each time the wheel rotated, and eventually a flat tire again. Never coming here again, waste of time and money!
This shop is for bros, by bros. The place is wildly overpriced, unwelcoming to anyone besides cis-men and their rides are only for dudes. They have a lot of work to do towards becoming a welcoming place in the community.
This is my favorite bike shop in Seattle. They consistently provide lots of advice and information and service whenever I go in there. Great staff.
I love this shop--great bikes, great coffee and excellent atmosphere! These guys have fitted both my wife and myself for bikes--and now our rides are SO much more comfortable. The guys in the service area have helped me assemble 3 bikes now and Im about to bring in a 4th. I keep coming back because when they are finished--everything works! Its seems like a small thing--but I havent been as successful with other shops. Thanks guys!
Cycling Technicians in service center are aces here. Maintenance masters and custom craftsman. Their bike shop only carries quality built bespoke manufactured items. Their shops beauty is close to a Modern Art Gallery with the finest Italian and French frames. Their fitness, yoga, strength testing center and spin classes can take your game to the next level. Lastly and most importantly their CAFE & CHEFs have an epic menu and RAD COFFEE choices!! What are waiting for LUBE UP AND SPIN OVER THERE!!
My bike had been in storage, unused for over 4 years, so I figured I would take it into Metier for their Overhaul tune up, their most comprehensive and expensive bike tune up. The shop pros quickly evaluated my bike and recommended that all I really needed was a wipe down and a shifter flush + adjust, which only cost me 30% of what I would have paid for the tune-up! Thanks for the honest assessment. I would recommend this shop!
Though I only got to try the coffee side of business, Métier offers excellent brews. The space itself is quite beautiful, and there is outdoors seating if youre lucky enough to get some sunlight. Nice selection of bike paraphernalia as well, but a little on the expensive side.
Fantastic, inspiring space. Excellent coffee, unique food, fast service. Bike and studio services are a really cool addition. It all works together so well. Come visit!
Great atmosphere. Good food. Good coffee. Its kept clean which is always nice. Even if you arent into biking its worth a stop by.
I witnessed the owner engaging in unethical and dangerous behavior:One evening, a friend and I were walking by Métier, and heard a hissing sound, and noticed a man kneeling by the tire of a vehicle in the driveway. I asked who he was, and what he was doing. He identified himself as the owner of Métier, and said that the car was not allowed to park in his driveway, so he was deflating its tires to teach the driver a lesson. So instead of leaving a note, or calling a towing truck, THE OWNER DECIDED TO COVERTLY DEFLATE THE TIRES OF A STRANGERS CAR, which is not only childish, but also dangerous because deflated tires could lead to an accident. Is retaliation over a parking spot worth the risk of hurting or killing someone?I condemn the owners unethical and dangerous behavior, and cannot recommend the support of his business.
Killer spot for the serious bike snob. Typical Seattle pretentious spot but thats the norm isnt it. Slate coffee nice and supreme bikes and parts and clothing. High class biking spot where bikes rule. Nice coffee too. Dont have to be a biker to hang here.
I’m here pretty regularly for morning coffee/breakfast and would say I’m a fan. But there’s a big gotcha: at least on of the staff members will automatically add a 20% gratuity to the counter order and distract you with small talk so you don’t notice while you sign the iPad . It’s tacky and cheap and takes away from what is otherwise a great spot.
Today I did a bike fit here. The moment I walked inside the shop I felt I was in the right place. The coffee is great, the place is beautiful, the people (almost all former pro cyclists) are friendly and knowledgable. Just the best!!! :)
Really good coffee ( they change there beans every Monday) and there bike shop is filled with quality parts and professional people.Great atmosphere also!
They fitted my wife and me for bikes and we have enjoyed them since. Very unpretentious or intimidating like a lot of other upper end bike shops. Very friendly and approachable.
Love the concept and layout, but $6 for a plain quad espresso? And another buck to get it iced? $7 for four shots over ice? I want to love this place so much; the bicycle service has been good and friendly so far, and fairly priced. But there is an unfortunate air of elitism floating around the place, and the absurdly overpriced coffee is a good way to push me back into the nearest Starbucks.Ill update this review if my feelings change with future visits. Again, I really want to love it here, but appealing to us inglorious city commuters as well as hardcore roadies would go a long way toward making it a welcoming place Id want to frequent.
Bikes, Coffee, GOOD Beers and now Donuts? Thanks Todd and Co.Note: over the past 3 decades I have been on both sides of the shop counter and in other facets of the international supply chain. The Shop is good, service to me has bee solid, and while drinking coffee and ale, wee have been spec-ing out an OPEN.And there is pizza next door. and one side street west is HERITAGE Distilleries. A regionally based start-up craft distillation house....might I recommend a tasting of Special Forces or the Brown Sugar Burboun. In Closing, Todd Herriott and Craig (my man) and folk are great by me,cheersT
There’s no more kitchen service here, but they do make smoothies and have some pre-packaged food to go with good beer. Nice, spacious area to eat and look at bike paraphanalia.
Full service shop where I can get a coffee or beer while they work on my bike??? FANTASTIC!Great folks working there and excellent service.
Bike store hours are different from posted store hours. Also they didn’t remember to ask whether i needed cleets with my first pair of shoes or if i had cleets that needed to be properly fitted on them. Instead they let me walk out of the store like a d*ck and I felt punk’d climbing on the exercise bike in my apartment complex trying to clip into the pedals. Way to motivate, guys!
So much more than a bike shop. A great place to have coffee, eat a fantastic waffle and talk to a knowledgeable staff member about all things cycling.
Ended up here for a coffee and a waffle before a game at Cal Anderson park nearby. Wonderful atmosphere good coffee and an awesome waffle.
Super unimpressed with the lack of womens representation in the curated store. So unimpressed. Otherwise, good decor, ok place to chill. Im not going to make this one of my regular spots.
Great shop, environment and experience!
Nice bike shop. Great food and coffee.
Heres what happened: I ordered a cold brew coffee. I didnt like it (it tasted like stumptown and I hate stumptown); not only did barista refuse a refund, she said shed only charge me for a shotSo I have to pay for two terrible coffees for terrible service? Is this the French modis operandi?Ill never be back.
When they do something they do it right. You can identify the attention to detail starts at the top. The facility, the coaches, the mechanics. Everything is Pro. But, with in reach of an amatuer cyclist.
You go in with a broken spoke, asking for an estimate. They get to work telling me they wont be able to do much for me because they close in 10 mins. Then they fix the spoke which took them longer than it should have by mistaking the length of the spoke multiple times. Meanwhile the other guy tells me to replace my tire soon. I agree, but not something I need now, especially because they told me I had 10 mins. They replace it and my grand total is $85 for a tire that wasnt even the one i wanted and less than 16 mins of work. This experience made me post my first ever review. I feel completely ripped off.
Nice mechanics, but a lot of stuff is seriously over priced. 29.50 for a pair of crank brothers cleats? Come on man.
I dont often leave reviews. The last two that I did were both five stars for two bike shops that had exceptional service. Unfortunately, this one is for the opposite reason. I am a student and competitive cyclist and triathlete. I have been racing for over eight years from local to world championships and have interacted with dozens of shops.I called metier because i purchased a used cervelo and needed a part (they were the closest cervelo dealer). I was quoted $30 for the part, and when I received it, took it home to install and gave a generous tip. After spending a decent amount of time without being able to assemble the part, I went back to the shop and was told they needed to order another piece, that was an additional $30. So my $30 part soon turned into 60.I dropped my bike off with them so that they could install the piece, and asked a generic question about the cable routing. I had just installed the stem that morning, but when the mechanic was removing it, he said the screw was stripped and he wanted to keep it there to remove it.Four weeks later, I get a phone call that the bike is ready. On the weekend, I come to pick up the bike at 4:30 (the shop closes at 6pm), and they happened to decide to close early that day. After several phone calls, I got the shop to call Cervelo since they did not know how to assemble the piece (or apparently how to order it). They called back a few weeks later and said it was complete. When I came to pick it up (SEVEN WEEKS after i dropped the bike off), the assembly was no better than the first time and they charged me $70 additional in labor, $40 of which was to remove the stripped screw. I asked about the charges and the fact that the piece was still not assembled correctly, and he told me to either leave the bike and come back for the fifth time, or to pay and call the manager that week.I figured I would talk with the manager to share my experience, expecting that he would at least listen. Instead, I was told that I got a great deal, even a steal. I was told that they went above and beyond by ordering parts from Cervelo (which they are expected to do as a certified dealer). When I mentioned the screw, his response was that I bought a used bike so they are not responsible for the screws. So if they strip a screw on a used bike, they are in their right to charge $40 to correct their mistake. I then mentioned the time frame and was given two explanations:1) sometimes they dont hear back from cervelo for a day. I went to them because they were a cervelo dealer and said they had worked on my bike model in the past, so they should have known how to install the part to begin with. Also, over seven weeks, they could email 25 times with a 48 hour response time.2) i didnt seem like i was in a rush for getting the bike back. I assume this is because i got in an accident and had two broken arms. If this is the case, it is probably the most disrespectful thing someone has told me since theyve been broken. Even if i bought the bike used, it was a lot of money to me, and I would have liked the bike either way.I got no explanation for why the shop randomly closed early or shut off their phone lines for four days, and got nothing resembling an apology. Instead the manager lectured me for the entire conversation about how they gave me a great deal. I had to remind him that I was calling to share my opinions to prevent him from getting too offensive. I did not get a chance to mention my concerns, which were just that I would have appreciated a more open line of communication and idea of the time frame. In short, I came to Metier for a part I was quoted $30 for. Seven weeks later, I got my bike back with the part installed in an unsatisfactory way and a $150 bill.If you are looking to buy a bike, parts, or labor, there are many friendly bike shops who will treat you with respect and will be willing to have a conversation and hear your side of the story if things go bad. I recommend you visit one of them.
Always awesome
Heaven?
Amazing cycleshop!
Chill breakfast bomb waffles
Not a fan
Just stop by and took a picture
Hello, I would like to know if I can get my bicycle fixed. You have some strange sounds and what I want is that you can not hear that ugly sounds anymore.
I really like waffles with seasonal fish. Good place to eat. The portions are large, delicious. Prices, really expensive and I don’t like coffee. On the contrary, you can buy dessert) which cannot but rejoice at the location.
