Merit has a great feel to it! I had a bit of downtime before I had to be at the airport and decided to try a coffee shop nearby! The staff was very friendly. Although it was super busy when I arrived at around 3 PM on a Friday afternoon. I took that as a good sign that it’s a great place! I’d recommend checking this place out if you’re in the Alamo Heights area.

I was in SA for the weekend and gave this place a shot bc it had good reviews and enjoy trying local coffee. I made my order with an hour and a half anticipation only to be told at pick up that the cinnamon rolls are sold out and I was refunded (thank you btw). I wasn’t asked if I wanted anything else and feel like this could’ve been communicated to me beforehand given the big time frame. Some coffee shops have done this before but I understand if this place isn’t willing to go the extra mile to provide good service. Also when I came up to the pick up area no one acknowledged me which makes me think anyone could’ve just taken my drink. Not sure if the latte just wasn’t made correctly with the milk alternative I paid for but I had a stomach ache. It couldn’t have been anything else as this was all I had during my road trip back home. Cute place but won’t be going back, wish y’all the best.

Coffee is good. I understand why this cafe is so popular. Sadly, the overwhelming business means massive delays. 40 minutes for a latte and cold brew was disappointing even tho the product was great.I would recommend this for leisurely weekdays, but strongly advise against going on weekends or if you’re short on time.

This place is great. The staff as well as the customers who come here are all very friendly. The atmosphere inside is a huge contributor to this. We will be back again very soon.

My first time trying Merit and overall Im satisfied. I ordered a Chai latte (first time trying it) and I love it. It reminds me of horchatha but less sweet with more spice, very good. Glad I got it hot vs iced. I also got the lemon blueberry scone and I was disappointed by it, just by size alone, very small especially for the price. Id go back for the coffee, but the bakery I dont knlw.

Pretty busy, and a bit crowded but good coffee. I did appreciate the fact that they had an outdoor seating area cause there were way too many people inside without a mask. I get that people dont have to wear masks anymore here in Texas but I choose to wear one since I have two kids under 4 who cant be vaccinated. For that reason I probably wouldnt come back here. Nothing bad against the coffee makers or shop. The coffee was great just too many bodies in the building for me.

Ive gone here for a couple years now and every time I go its sublime. The best, most flavorful coffee Ive ever had, with rotating pour-over selections. I got the affogato for my brother who doesnt like coffee and he loved it. The atmosphere is fantastic and staff is friendly. Its not for a cheap cup of caffeine you NEED, its for an experience you WANT and can enjoy. Hands down, Merit is my favorite coffee shop, and this location is fantastic.

Merit on Broadway is one of my favorite coffee joints. It rivals the best in Austin, SF, Seattle, etc. Drinks are rich and nuanced, never bitter. They take great care preparation. Try a quiche or sausage kalache.

The chai tea was way too watered down and tasted like milk. The flavor was heavily lacking which bummed me out significantly. They also shut down the ovens early which confused the heck out of me.

Groovy little coffee shop with house-made sauces and herbal tea options! 10/10 would recommend!

Stopped by on our way home. Parking was super easy, not was I was expecting. Per usual a coffee shop most people had headphones on or working on laptops. My wife and I were greeted by a nice gentleman who patiently waited for me to choose my drink. Quickly poured and gave me my cold brew, which was really good, and we took a few pictures and then took off. Simple and quick.

Great coffee! Bought a cold brew which was delicious and bought a bag of dark roast to brew in my Kalita Wave pour over which was excellent.

This place has gone downhill since the pandemic. Staff constantly is slow in their service or out of coffee... at a coffee shop! The true irony. And the last visit, a group of regulars on Saturday morning early were yelled at when headed outside NOT to be rearranging tables to seat a larger group! Theres better options, even in the 09. Check out revolutions down the street, or corner bakery at the Quarry or if you can stab out a little further, Black Rifle off bitters! All great service & prices, and never rude to customers, or without regular coffee!

This place gets packed quick! So come early if you’re looking to camp out for a bit. They have an awesome coffee menu and have vegan milk options witch is nice. Their merchandise is pretty cool too.

Fantastic coffee, great variety of products, but OH SO SLOW. We dropped in for two cups of coffee and it took 50 minutes to get them. Come when you have time to wait.

The Lucem blend, which I prepare at home as a pour over, is the best coffee that I’ve ever had. And that includes living in San Francisco for 13 years.

Good selection of pastries, food like tacos or cafe sandwiches yogurt and the like.Cool merchandise for sale, bags of coffee and instant coffee products for sale and well-described.House coffee was good, also got a cortado that was delicious with deep rich taste and creaminess.

The coffee is great. Too bad the cold beverages are served in plastic cups with straws! They looked weird at us when we asked for a cold chai tea in a paper cup.

Hands down one of the best house drips AND best lattes I’ve ever had. Super friendly and accommodating staff, warm atmosphere, adorable merch, and amazing beans for sale. Couldn’t recommend more!

Honestly would have given this 5 starts if they were consistent with their coffee. Each time I order something it was always different than the last. Maybe if all of their baristas were on the same page it would be a better place to go to. I really wanted to like this place but so far the only thing it has going is the atmosphere. The atmosphere can’t be the only thing that keeps a place in business.

Good price for a strong cup of coffee and unlimited refills if you get a mug while there. Cool spot, will come back again

I don’t ever leave bad reviews, but today was it for me. The service at this location is literally just awful. I feel like I’m not the only one who feels this way. I ask for honey or cinnamon in my coffee and they act like I’m asking them to go cut down a bees nest. Don’t get me wrong they have 1 or 2 employees that know me and make sure I’m taken care of, but others just have such a poor attitude.. kinda sad. I leave this review in hopes of better service in the possible future when I do return.

Merit Coffee, or Local, is a nice coffee shop in the San Antonio area. The staff was very friendly and the coffee had great flavor. Definitely recommend Merit Coffee (Local).

Coffee shop only... a few pastries... U go there to drink coffee... and very good coffee. Large cups, very friendly and efficient staff, prompt service of high quality tasting coffee.... (sshhh but even the competition comes here for a delicious cup) coffee is creamy with a light acidic camaralised flavour, add sugar to suit. Lots of parking. Good for date and meetings. Free Wi-Fi just ask.

Lovely kolaches, good coffee, and friendly staff

Coffee was delicious! So much so that we adjusted our travel plans to make sure we stopped by for a cup on our way home from vacation. This is how coffee should be done, hands down.

This morning was my first time here at Merit Coffee at the Broadway location. My husband brought me here after our workout and decided to “reward” ourselves with some coffee. The service was awesome. Jonathan was really nice and helpful. He gave great customer service and good recommendations. I had a latte and my husband had an americano. Overall good experience and because of Jonathan we will back!!!!!

This is a great place to study. One thing that was a bit frustrating was that there is no formal parking lot, so it looks like youre parking on the side of a building,and it is hard to get back on the road from there. There are nice tables, and its a really cute vibey coffee shop. The coffee is a bit expensive, but its a great place. I enjoyed it.

Good WiFi. Enough tables low and high. Lots of outlets to charge computer. Great cappuccino. The waiter was friendly and people were quiet. It was a perfect spot to do some work. I spilled my own drink but it looked perfect right before.

Really good pour over. Both Salzar and ....the one from Ethiopia that I cant remember the name of at the moment were really well done. Pastries are good too. Not as big a fan of the poptarts they have though.

We decided to try something other than Starbucks. I’ve never heard of Merit before. A customer we let go ahead of us told us how great this place was, and so a nice young man named Jonathan overheard and answered all our questions and made our order personally. He even explained the bakery item and offered to heat them up. Then, a young lady named (Katie) I think, continued to help with questions about different instant coffee they also have for those on the go. Nevertheless, we were impressed! What friendly staff and customers! That coffee was sooooo good, it was quickly down the hatch! My hubby got a chai tea which was excellent as well! Goodbye Starbucks! Thank you Merit from your new customers!

Really enjoyed my honey latte from Merit. Their staff is friendly and efficient. Tables inside are spaced well, and they have an outdoor seating area. I will definitely be back to get a pour over.

This is a nice place to hang out and study or meet friends although the music is a bit loud sometimes. Good coffee and friendly baristas. Try the affogato!

I have spent more hours in this shop than I care to admit. Theres a reason for that. You feel good when youre inside those doors. The coffee is rocket fuel in the best way and the playlists are on point. Theres a reason theyre expanding. Order a hippie bar while youre at it.

Good atmosphere to study and grab a snack. I suggest trying the Cold Brew to get a good caffeine kick.

Always great drinks, Green Tea size could be much larger per price is higher than StarBucks for the size of cold drinks.

Stumbled upon this wonderful coffee shop. Its attached to the bike shop as well. The decor is beautiful and has a comfortable welcoming atmosphere. Still gets 5 starts however there were tables that needed to be wiped down and stayed that way for awhile. There was definitely enough staff to be able to handle it.

Smooth good coffee done right

The hot chocolate was fantastic.

All Merit/Local coffee locations are amazing. This one might be my favorite because I love the way the light hits their outdoor patio space. Its also connected to a cycling/bicycle shop next door, and that is so neat. Merit is the BEST coffee.

Hippie bar is amazing

I recently moved to San Antonio and I stumbled upon this coffee shop (here and one of their other locations). Delicious coffee! I’ve had both their iced coffee and an iced dirty chai and both were delicious. Felt very safe with Covid precautions in place. Best coffee I’ve had in San Antonio!

Coffee was good but the breakfast sandwich and breakfast tacos are way overpriced for what you get and not very flavorful. Wont be getting breakfast there again anytime soon.

But I like mine sugar plus a dash of coffee... So I had to add simple syrup to my latte... Luckily it was at the self serve bar. Straight forward menu for coffee options.As for studying... WiFi was fast and theres outdoor seating but it was difficult to find a spot so 3 stars in terms of that and the seats made my behind hurt at about 1.5 hours...

Met here for a work meeting and loved the atmosphere. Theres a small patio and plenty of seating, but at 3pm on a Monday it seemed fairly busy! The coffee was delicious as well.

Gawd -- Turn down the music will ya? If you want a place where you cant hold a conversation, but instead have to listen to the music payed loudly for the staff enjoyment instead of the customers, then come on over. Bring your earplugs.
