Great selection of used books at only $1 each! You need to be willing to go through them but good finds to be had!

I absolutely love and adore this place! I heard another patron call it a ‘treasure trove’, which I completely agree with. It’s such a lovely book shop with a variety of books for every and all ages. Their online store also has such a great collection of works too that you can have shipped to your place or you can pick up in store/at their porch! The staff is so welcoming and kind as well! They helped me with my trade ins and were so friendly throughout my experience there. I’ve only been here twice so far since discovering it, however I can’t wait to go more in the future! 💗

I absolutely love this bookstore. It was my first time visiting and I walked away with great titles in adult fiction, memoirs, and politics. My son enjoyed the kids section as well, and though we didnt attempt it this time, we want to return explore the fill a bag with books for $10 room!

I love this place! We got to go in the store for the first time today. Its very clean and organized! The lady at the front was a good sport helping my boys find the books they wanted!I usually shop online and pickup. Their customer service is always top notch! Im so glad we found this amazing shop!

If I could give 10 stars I would. I am in town for 2 nights, heading to the beach. I forgot a book so I did a quick google search & found Dog Eared. After reading their story I was sold, and added 3 books to my cart before checking out. Upon checking out I realized the curbside pick up wasn’t available until Monday but I would be leaving Sunday so this wouldn’t work. I took a shot in the dark & sent an email explaining my situation & asking if at any way possible I could pick the books up sooner. I received a response within 30 minutes offering to have my order ready by 12pm because I was in luck & someone would be stopping by the store! I quickly placed my order online with their simple & secure checkout. The customer service was prompt and so kind.This place is a bit hidden, in a loading dock area with a built on store front. My bag was in a bin out front. I opened my bag to check the contents & I was amazed. Y’all I got 3 books for $8.50 and they’re all in PERFECT condition, one is even a hardback!! This was the highlight of my trip so far. Please support this local small business & grab yourself an amazing book or two!

This book store is no longer dog friendly as I was informed when I was leaving (which I really wish there was a sign or something on their facebook page about this since I did not intend to break the rules). Also, I know that they cannot do much about it, but being next to a cannabis grower does allow for a strong smell in the store. Furthermore, the books are alphabetized by first letter of last name but not fully alphabetized which made it difficult to look for certain authors.

I cant wait until PETA storms this place! Clearly abusing dogs is not OK! My rat came into the store and was dead within seconds. (Although he did try swimming in toliet

What a wonderful book store! So many great books, huge selection. We went during a $10 bag event and got 64 books for $21! Wide variety from childrens, to young adult, to DIY, to foreign language, to history, to politics, to biographies, to religion, to fiction, and so much more. Really friendly staff. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

I was hoping for a more extensive selection of history books and biographies. Mostly popular novels and a good selection of kids books. Books are not organized so you have to really search the shelves. Prices are great so Im not complaining, just trying to let people know what to expect.

Cant wait to come back, their selection is amazing! Currently need to schedule appointments to shop, which I personally appreciate. The warehouse location threw us off at first, but overall it was a great experience and their books are extremely reasonably priced!

I dont know how Ive never heard of this store before today! It has a wonderful selection of books for children and adults. All books are $1, except for bundled books and the books in the back (those are fill a bag for $10). We ended up going home with over 20 books, buying two bundles of 10 childrens books, a few extra childrens books and several cookbooks and it only cost about $15. ETA: I was very happy with the deal and the books until we discovered that one of the bundles had a duplicate book AND we discovered one of the books (so far) missing 5 pages. For that Im removing another star because it feels like while the bundles are a good deal - because they are tied/wrapped you cant actually do a quality control check either. This makes me a little bit wary of buying their bundles now.The other frustrating thing about the store was that it was a bit hard to find specific books. They are organized by type/genre but beyond that it takes a lot of digging to find something specific. And the bag book section in the back for children was difficult to dig through because the books are all just piled on a table.Id just probably say buyer beware if you are purchasing bundles. At least for all the loose books you can look through them to see the quality first.

A nice book nook in a warehouse setting. You have to drive to the back if the building to find this well marked space.First time visitor to the shop this week. The greeting was short and sweet...not much talk with the customers.Priced modestly. My wife found four books she couldnt live without. Its fairly close to our home, so we will probably return.

This has been one of my favorite discoveries in Raleigh. They are only open on Friday and Saturdays, but they have a wonderful selection of used books that all sale for one dollar or less. They also make it really fun to shop there, and they will except used books in trade. I love love love this store.

Wonderful used bookstore tucked off of Atlantic Avenue in Raleigh. My wife and I love to browse their extensive selection of books and take a few home. All the books here are $1 and we always leave with something interesting. Love this place!

Dog Eared Books is a HIDDEN GEM! We were greeted with amazing service & knowledge by the staff they knew exactly what to recommend. Great books and even better pricing. I will be in often so happy I have discovered such an amazing book store!

Large collection of books, some pretty good movies too. Only difficult thing is that the books are in no order within their sections so you have to dig through them all if you are looking for a certain book. Great prices though!!!

This place was very clean and neat. The two ladies that run it were nice and helpful. The amount of creativity you see around the store was amazing starting with the front counter being made of books to nifty book coat hangers and such. Books were 1$ a piece unless marked otherwise. And they have a room of books that are 10$ a bag. I managed to get about 30 books for around 16$. They do have a live dog as a mascot on the premises so if your allergic to fur babies Id take some precautions.

How many wonderful things can I say about this gem of a store?! Over this last trip I found a treasured book called God of the Fairy Tale that I would may have never stumbled upon at another store. Their classics, non-fiction, science, religious and childrens selections are fantastic; especially for a dollar! Added bonus is the kids color room for the little ones. Always a joy and surprise to shop here. Love it!

1 dollar books! Its a bit small in comparison to some other used books stores in the area and the selection was limited but I was still able to find some great books. The owners are very nice.

Dont know what took me so long to get over there. It was amazing. My 5 yr old great granddaughter said its like the library. She loved picking out some books. The girls were very nice also.

Great book store with a wide variety of books to choose from. The $10 fill a bag table is fantastic. As a teacher, I have bought many many books here. They also allow you to trade in old books for store credit. I would 100% recommend Dog-Eared books

I love this book store! Many of the books are in like-new condition and could be used as gifts. All of the books are in really good condition! The staff is awesome and many outstanding events are planned. The selection is outstanding!

Great little bookshop! Theyre only open on weeekends, but ALL books are only $1 per. They have a huge selection of books for kids which is nice for teachers and parents. The shop is also very organized (which I love) by type of book (history, travel, fiction, etc). I try to go at least once a month. They also accept donations of books so if you have any youre done with you can take them here for store credit.

I was able to order my book online, pick my own day and time I wanted to pick up :) and do an almost contactless pick up. 20 brownie points in my book :)

This bookstore is great! Everything is $1 or less, unless they are selling series as sets. They also donate books to local reading programs. It is well organized by genre and will email you if they get something in stock youve told them you wanted.

Prices are great for used books here, but be prepared to spend a long time looking. The sheer randomness of book placement almost made me leave. For someone like me who likes so a specific genres or authors it was a chore. If youve got the time to look, theres plenty of good books.

Book selection seems like any other used book store, but how they can sell at $1 a book I dunno! Audio books and DVDs too, also cheap. Bundled paperbacks with a common theme also cheap, very clever. Very hard to find as they are not only in a warehouse, but at the back, off an industrial stretch of Atlantic Ave.

This is an awesome place to get second hand books at really great prices. The store is in a warehouse, but is very clean so if you want to sit on the floor to read few pages you can. Just be aware to give yourself plenty of time if youre in search of a particular book because books are categorized by fiction and nonfiction and then by specific genres, but more than half are placed in wrong genre sections.This requires more time to go through all sections instead of just one section. For example, there were a number of religious books placed in mystery, self help, and classical sections. Young adult books were in most all sections of the store. Specific authors were hard to find in the same place like Stephen King, etc. But if you set time aside and not in a rush then its a pleasure to peruse the shelves.I personally enjoy second hand book stores and can spend hours looking at books so this is not a problem for me, but I noticed others were in more of a rush and wanting to expedite the process. I think what made it more frustrating for them is that the volunteers and staff were not familiar enough with the inventory to say if they have a specific book.The store had a new author come and display his latest books. This is really nice when you enter the store and you can get autographs of their books if you purchase from them, but this can cause some commotion. There were several people that spoke loudly with their voices carrying to the back of the store for an hour until they finally left. Staff did not try to quiet them down. A number of people found this rather irritating.Lastly, this is a very family friendly store for young children to adults. At the front of the store, theres a separate room for lots and lots of coloring. The masterpieces are hung high for others to look at and purchase. Many are quite beautiful with drawings on music sheets and others on book pages.Overall, its a great place and Id consider this a special outing to do on a Saturday. Staff are very nice. I recommend this place to others who love the written word.

The best used book store in NC. All the books are $1.00 and on shelves not in bins to dig through. The books are in great shape and the staff is fantastic they go out of their way to help you in any way that they can. The Pinklady has so many wonderful gifts in there as well. This is on my to do list every weekend. I cant stay away!

This used book store had a great selection of books to choose from. Hardback and softback books available, categorized by subject, fiction and non fiction. There is also a room where you pay by the bag. It is located in a row of warehouses and is essily missed if not paying attention. Make sure to check the hours they are open to the public.

I loved this place!!! They had great deals on books!! I was looking specifically for childrens books and I found exactly what I needed. I was so excited for this because now I have all the childrens books I could ever want for my future classroom.
