Quaint! This place is chill, good music and good vibes. The beer and wine selection are more than most places in the area. Staff is really friendly and you never feel rushed there. Oh and that cheeseboard board 👌🏽

Great service and the space was well organized and extremely clean. All the seating was spaced out for social distancing and all signage was easy to understand! We didn’t have any food but what was on the menu looked great.

I have Celiac Disease and often only have one or 2 drink options (cider/gluten-free beer) when I go out. State of beer had some interesting choices to drink in the bar, including a few different ciders and some gluten-free mead. The mead was surprisingly good! There was an even larger selection drinks to buy and take home.

Definitely one of our favorite places for a beer since moving to the area. They always have an amazing beer list, and bottle shop. Plus theyre always playing some great records. Think weve heard Weezer (Blue album and Pinkerton only!) almost every time weve been there.

WOW! Ludacris pricing….. I have traveled to all lower 48 states and purchased craft beer in most. I have purchased craft beer in the most expensive cities in the entire country including NYC, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, DC, Seattle, San Diego & more. I have never seen beer this overpriced! I mean they had some 4 packs of IPA and Wit for $25 bucks! You can buy trappist beer that is shipped over the Atlantic from Belgium for that price. If you live in this area and are being gouged by these prices, I feel for you.

Hands down one of my most favorite spots around Raleigh for some great and unique beers on draft along with hundreds of cans and bottles. Excellent food options as well with some of the best hot or cold sandwiches and some really amazing pasta salad. I reccomend this spot to so many people and everyone ends up loving it for good reason.

I’ve always loved State of Beer, but have become obsessed recently! The wonderful selection of beer and perfectly curated food has always been awesome. However, the recent expansion and amazing outdoor options have been perfect in the time of COVID. Wish I could spend all my summer nights here!

First of all I love this place. However, dont order the cheese plate because its a few pieces of cheese and mostly apples and bread. And the beer list is eclectic as always, which I love, but is never updated so you dont know what youre in for until you get there.

I used to live down the street from here and this was my favorite bottle shop to meet up with friends or pick up some bottles for a gathering. The outdoor seating is nice for dogs and/or strollers as well. The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable, always willing to make great recommendations and conversation. Now that Ive moved far away, this is always a destination when Im back in Raleigh.

There are bottles that you can purchase too --- some of them are hard-to-find bottles. The staff is friendly and chill, creates a great atmosphere for people to come in, relax, and enjoy delicious beers. I also appreciate how the bartenders displays the currently-playing vinyl cover behind the bar.

State of Beer, what to say? It gives an accurate depiction of the current state of beer. A well curated selection of some of the best craft beer around, both on the shelves and flowing from the taps. A strong representation of brews born and bred in NC. The sandwiches and apps are also pretty fantastic and the beet goat cheese salad is my forever favorite, and I could eat it daily. Super chill atmosphere, cozy in the cold months and excellent outdoor patio seating for those sunny summer afternoons. Plus, always the perfect soundtrack playing on background vinyl.

The beer choices are great, food is very good, surprisingly good actually! Would highly recommend this as a place to go before heading out on the town for a night, or as an easy place to chill for a few hours. Very nice staff too.

Ive gotta say... After only two visits, State of Beer has me hooked. With a deep beer selection and assortment of wine the bottle shop certainly has something for everyone. Now onto the bar.. its a cozy setup that with a reasonable number of beers on tap. Additionally the lunch options are tasty and Ive gotta recommend the pasta salad for your side. From my experience here, the staff are all very helpful and friendly. Stop by for great outdoor seating in the summer and a cozy inside experience all year long.

The bottle shop has an even more expansive selection than the drafts; definitely the best place to pick up beer in downtown Raleigh.
