A cool(literally) date spot!! The ice cream was super yummy, they had Vegan and Keto options, so there was something for everyone! My lactose intolerant tummy was very happy after eating my chocolatey creation. π
Wow! This people went beyond and about, they received me with such energy and passion! They were so kind enough to explain to me every in detail, you have to try the dairy free options, they are awesome!! I love them!!The place is so beautiful and so well decorated, they even have a piano upstairs with a beautiful view! I will definitely come back!
Super fun place and entertaining as well to watch your ice cream get made. My favorite Sensation so far has been the Banana Cream Pi with fresh banana slices π They also have fun sodas that I have yet to try so I need to go back! Steve, the owner, is very very sweet and will do anything he can to make sure you have a good time. Definitely left here feeling like part of the family π
It was fine. The ice cream was good.I was in line to order three ice cream orders. This is to minimize the amount of people in the store. I ended up ordering two. Once I ordered the first ice cream, the young lady turned around and started talking to a colleague. I called twice to continue with my order. She was less than pleasant. I asked for the vegan option. I asked about the milk. She told me it was almond. She poured the milk. I told her I was allergic to nuts. I asked for soy or coconut. She was curt and rude. The now what statement was not necessary. Then she dumped the milk and wanted to use the same bowl. I had to request a clean bowl. A four start is more than I can do given my experience. You have plenty to work with at the store. There was never an apology at any point. The health issue is concerning.
Very fun shop to visit. The loft has seating that offers high up window views. Cute historic building interior meets modern fun. I love the liquid nitrogen fog that appears as they make ice cream.
The ice cream was okay, but the reason I am giving it fives stars is the people. I wish I knew the name of the guy who helped me he was amazing! I asked if there pumpkin was available yet and he told me to wait one second and he dug to find me some pumpkin flavor. It seriously made my day and I would recommend going here!
The best ice cream experience around!! I love getting mine extra hard. Because once the ice cream touches your tongue it melts right away. Itβs such a fun environment. There are tons of different flavors too! This place is perfect for families and adults alike. Make sure to get the nitro balls. Itβs hilarious to try! We happened to go when a guy, Connor falcon was singing frank Sinatra. It was a fun night out!
Very fun to see your ice cream made right before your eyes! A definite must visit in an old part of town and a modernized old historic building! I and my friends loved it!
This ice cream is sub-zero in quality. Overpriced, overhyped, and the chocolate flavor mix-in was insubstantial and turned the cream a nasty mauve color. The theatrics of using the liquid nitrogen is fun but the end product was absolutely not worth the price--could have stayed home with two tubs of real ice cream for the same cost.Reply to owner:I added the raspberry mix-in to a regular chocolate ice cream. Perhaps it was just a mistake in how they prepared it that night, but it hardly tasted like chocolate.
I went here in January 2021 later in the evening. The whole concept is pretty neat, and watching the employees make your ice cream is definitely interesting. However, I didnβt think the ice cream was worth the price. I tend to be a quantity over quality guy, so take my opinion with that in mind. The young employees all seemed very new and we had to wait over 20 minutes in line, but they were trying their best. Iβd say itβs a good one-time experience, but I donβt think Iβll be coming here again, Iβd rather go to Coldstone at this price point.
I have never tried nitrogen frozen ice cream before but I have to say after trying sub zero I cant go back to store bought. Not only is it fun to watch it made but its made perfect. Some ice cream shops just make their flavors to sweet but at sub zero they make it just the right amount of flavor. If you havent tried it yet I highly recommend it. The staff is friendly and fun, its a great date spot as well.
I didnt care for the ice cream. Rather just have good ice cream than a gimmicky thing. To each their own. Mine was more like frozen blocks of cream than ice cream.
A fun place to go, as they make the ice cream in front of you with pouring liquid nitrogen into the mixing bowl, so you essentially build your own ice cream every time you go.Their sodas are pretty good too.
It was really good. I like how they have dairy free icecream. Cool to watch them make it with the nitrogen.
It was awesome to see how they prepared the ice cream with nitrogen! There are many flavors and mixin, hard to choose, but I managed.
Vanilla custard with peaches.... seriously you need to try it! Awesome ice cream!
Ice cream is really good environment is wonderful enjoy watching them make the ice cream
The workers were nice and they went out of their way to make me a chocolate dipped waffle cone. Despite the cool ice cream-making experience, my ice cream was kind of bland compared to others Iβve had. Also, it doesnβt take a genius to know that anyone working in food should have gloves on. Not one of the workers had gloves on and they handled all the food, including my waffle cone, like that. I was honestly pretty grossed out. Especially with covid, you would think they would take basic precautions.
The staff was phenomenal and extremely friendly. I came in very close to their closing time and none of them were anything short of kind and accomodating. They didnt try to rush my decision and even engaged in pleasent conversation. The ice cream wasnt the best I have ever had, the andes mints tasted like wax, but watching them make it was extremely interesting. I like how customizable all of their flavors are, you can even choose what kind of cream they make it with. All around a great ice cream place that everyone should go to at least once.
Edit: I stopped back by when I was on Center street. It was a whole different experience than my first. The new manager, Erika, was super friendly and made a mean ice cream combo. The portions were much larger and reasonable. I loved how she also bought southern hospitality flair. Being from Texas, it was refreshing. Id recommend giving it try. While the concept of Sub Zero is cool, the quality and portion leaves much to be desired. I ordered a regular size cup and got literally one scoop worth. Such a tiny, little portion in a large cup. Looks nothing like any of their pictures. A bit disappointing to see this sad, little scoop.
This is the best Sub-Zero Ive ever been to you. They have a super friendly crew, and theyre more than happy to answer your questions or look up ingredients. Its a really chill environment (haha π) Seriously, its a great place to stop for a treat. They even have an upstairs area where you can look out over the street and seethe Provo City Center temple or look at the mountains.I got their vegan ice cream. Its really sticky, sort of like the rice paper around mochi after it gets wet. It wasnt bad, but its definitely not the same texture as regular ice cream.Theyve got lots of options!
They were in the worst mood ever when we came in and told us they were out of things when it was clearly right in front of our eyes. worst customer service ever. do not recommend
The rude girl making ice cream at the counter made fun of my friend for remembering an employees name since he made ice cream how she liked it, and whispered about her while making her ice cream. They were very reluctant to make it anything less than soupy, and my mango was so gross I spit it out in front of them. When she asked for someone elses help they kept forcing her to go through the girl who was very happily rude. Not only a waste of 13 dollars but now we wont be coming back because the chick up front wants to claim a boy instead of do her job. Firstly, not interested. Second of all, get some professionals so we can eat and go and not have to be belittled in the process.
This place is amazing, I went a couple years ago and loved it, came again today and it was even better. I Love It!!!!
Went where to pick up some orders I had from wish its cheaper to get them shipped to the store theyre then shipped to a location that I live the workers were very nice and friendly had a good talk about our obsession with buying ring using it was a good time even though I didnt have any ice cream
Awesome ice cream and the coolest way for it to be prepared! The young lady that was working was super nice.
Such a fun, cute place! Great to go to for a date, studying, or just to spice up your daily routine with some delicious ice cream and a wonderful atmosphere. Plus, Im kind of in love with the spiral staircase, haha. Cant wait to come back :)
Great helpful employees. I didnt go for ice cream but to pick up delivered wish orders. Had a great talk with the workers
I stopped by the other night and there were three guys working. Best experience I have ever had at this or any subzero shop. The guys were friendly and asking about how I was doing and struck up a good conversation. I felt like a valued customer. I was surprised because I havent been in on a day/evening when they were working before and the customer service was never this friendly.
Cool vibes. Nice workers. Needs some artwork upstairs. Perhaps a mural of βNitrogen dimethyltryptamineβ. The vegan ice cream if you get pistachio is like eating Wriggles Spearmint Gum (texture and look).
Went there for a Keto dessert, which hit the spot! Several options to choose from, and customizable for almost any diet. We will be going back when the next sweet cravings hit!
Donβt waste your time heading over to another one of those basic ice cream shops. Head on over to SubZero for not only delicious ice cream but a chemical experience. Why just have plain old ice cream when you can have someone make it in front of you with the flavors of your choice?I would take many girls here on first dates. While waiting in line I would explain to them the chemistry behind the ice cream making. When the date was over and I was dropping them off. I would always say, βhey, atleast you can tell your friends that there was chemistry on this date.βTalk about a MONEY pickup line.Trust me, worked every time. Go to subzero to change your life forever.*personal favorite flavor: bubble gum and mango mixed together, you wonβt regret it.
I usually love coming here but today the girl was apparently new and I usually would be more understanding but both her co worker and I told her she needs to freeze the ice cream more and she still wouldnt and I had a big gloppy messy melted mess that I threw away after a couple bites.
Very pricey, the ice cream is ok, nothing special. Iβve got a small, zero lactose ice cream, no toppings (since there is none included), and I paid $5.60Next time I will just go to the grocery store and buy better ice cream to eat at home.
I have no idea how they make the best ice cream in the world but they do. Would recommend to anyone!
Cool place, pun intended! ;) Their Dole whip is really good
Great ice cream, lovely people!
Cutest atmosphere, friendliest workers, and, of course, the most delicious and unique ice cream experience ever!! The flavor combinations are endless and all of them are delicious!! Plus thereβs a cute loft you can hang out in to eat your ice cream. Great for families or college kids. And itβs right on center street right by the temple!! LOVE!
Ice cream, frozen yogurt, made in front of you thanks to liquid nitrogen. Dozens of flavors to choose from; no extra charge. Mix ins like nuts, fruit, a d crushed candy bars are 50Β’ each. My wife had mango and strawberry yogurt but it tasted more like orange. I went with maple root beer yogurt and it was great. So dont expect toouch authenticity of flavors...
Dont bother getting the sugar free or vegan options basically no flavor. Pricey for what it is and service wasnt all that great.
Its interesting and delicious!
Ice cream was amazing but the employee was laughing the whole time while we where trying to order which made us a little confused.
Great staff! amazing service
Super tasty treat. Like coldstone but better.
I love this place! Their ice cream is delicious and their cakes re absolutely amazing. Theirs is the best ice cream cake I have ever had! You can have lots of different flavors, too. (Raspberry cheesecake is my favorite.) If youve driven past but never gone in, go. It is worth every penny!
This is a fun experience, especially if you have kids. But the ice cream was mediocre.
Its so cool watching them make the icecream. The balcony is also really cool and includes an awesome view of the Provo City Center template
First, its a locally owned place, and I like that. Secondly, the cultural contribution that it makes to Downtown Provo is awesome. They completely renovated an old building on Center Street. Finally, the product is great. Completely customizable, unless you choose one of the tried and true Taste Sensations, which I always do. Its a winner.
Genuinely nice experience with a really friendly staff. While the i said oh so its like coldstone and the employee said but we are better! She was right. My simple and rural Nebraska brain was shocked they took cream and made ice cream in front of me. My jaw literally dropped.
Been several times before. Seems still pretty chill. Just tried to use a coupon through Hooked for a free mix-in. Employee said they arenβt affiliated with Hooked and then proceeded to say that itβs for a different location after I showed it on the app. (I double checked and verified that it was for their Provo location). Anyways, just annoyed that the employee didnβt seem to care. Seemed annoyed that I even tried to use a coupon.
Awesome frozen treats!Great taste combinations! We love the frozen custard options!
Super super good icecream I love choclate
Good ice cream! Busy but its a good atmosphere.
I just had the most wonderful experience eating some delectable liquid nitrogen flash-frozen ice cream that warmed me to the heart, or maybe it was the beautiful company I was in, but the ice cream certainly improved the experience by several magnitudes.
It was really good ice cream
Of the 6 items ordered all had either strange or fairly bland flavors and a sticky thick texture. Ive had nitrogen ice cream before and this was probably my least preferred of any location. The people working there were very friendly and are the only reason I am not leaving 1 star.
Ice cream has great flavor. You can get exactly what you want. The ice cream is rich and creamy. Italian Ice is so smooth. Love the Dole Whip with cream - YUM! And so addicting.
We LOVE their ice cream, which is why we still ordered delivery and paid $28 for two ice creams (the dashers need their tip too). But on the app all their sensations show a waffle bowl, and in the store if you get a sensation you get a waffle bowl. But we didnβt. We understand charging more for our convenience and we still want to support, but Would have been nice to get what we paid for/advertised when ordering!
Its was a great spot to get a treat after a long week of working. Made to order tight in front of you. Definitely going back soon
A unique style of icecreamPros-You get a new type of icecream, creamy, extra creamy, custard-like, etc.- 30 or so flavors, such as nutella, cake batter, piΓ±a colada flavor- Toppings- Kids love itCons- I personally never like it quite as much as I think I will.- The store needs a good mopping on the floor
How are you doing today? A staff member asked my family. Good my daughter said, then commenced to tell him how last time we came here, I (mom) ordered her the wrong flavor, and it was melted before we got home. This staff member made have her an extra squeeze of ice cream to make up for the poor experience she had (Even though it Sub Zerosfault!)
Good but expensive for ice cream.
Super yummy ice cream! Kids in there were swamped, working as fast as possible!
I only gave two stars because I appreciate that they are trying to have vegan options, but the βvegan ice creamβ literally tasted like water slushy with toppings. Not worth $5. Iβm so disappointed. They couldnβt afford any type of other vegan milk that was even a bit creamy. Also, the flavoring they added was so little, I couldnβt taste it, also they put the tiniest amount of sugar that it wasnβt sweet. Just sad because I really was craving ice cream today, hope they have better option in the future π
This stuff is delicious
I never leave bad reviews but this was not a good experience. Honestly it was a very terrible experience. Came in at 8 on a monday night. The manager(keeley) was not only rude to me and my girlfriend but also rude to the girl( Lauren) working. Lauren was nice and trying to accommodate for my girlfriend being vegan, but her manager was really rude and made us feel bad for even asking about their vegan options. Also I ordered a pint of ice cream and they filled the cup not even 3/4 full? Also, I got the mango but it did not taste like anything. I think itβs because they didnβt put enough flavoring. I really used to like this place but itβs really run down the past couple months. Donβt think i will ever come back.
Delicious ice cream with lots of choices for flavors and mix ins. They use the liquid nitrogen right in front of you, which is super fun to watch! I especially love the shakes.
Great ice creams!!!! They were delicious and they have lactose free options too!!!
I can say this place does it for me. Definitely worth going back to. Prices are reasonable.
My husband and I went to the Provo Sub Zero often while we were dating, (probably once a week) because we love the ice cream! However, recently they have kept their prices the same, but have drastically reduced the portion sizes.. like BAD. We ordered a large tonight, and received the skimpiest little cup (didnt even fill the cup we were given), which is why I am writing this review after such a disappointment. We love the flavors and creaminess of it, but we are not willing to pay the price for hardly any ice cream. We have been here enough to know what we once got, so the reduction is disheartening. I think weβll be taking our business elsewhere.
Great tasting ice cream wish the price was a little cheaper but the service was good
The ice cream is good and its fun to watch them make it. They have lots of flavors to choose from. My husband and I both got smalls and it was a good amount without being too much. The building is really cool, it has a neat spiral staircase that goes up to a loft area that has some tables. The girls working there were both super friendly and helpful.
Such a cute place
Donβt waste your time here! The price for the amount of ice cream you get is ridiculous. Didnβt even fill up the whole cup. On their menu, they have their prices written on post-it notes?? Then, when we tried to sit upstairs, a random girl SHOUTED in front of a ton of people who were in the restaurant, βOH, you canβt go upstairs, guys!!β There was NO sign anywhere saying that, so we just head out and eat our ice cream in our car in peace. Do yourself a favor and go to Cold Stone instead if you want QUALITY food and service.
Awesome place. Second time here and it was still amazing! Love watching them put the nitrogen in. I got brownie batter, with cookie dough and marshmallows, it was really good. The marshmallows were hard and then melted in my mouth. Has lots of choices and tastes good. Funny that it is my moms cousin that owns the company.π€£
Only the best! You cant go wrong... I cant stay away from this place!
We love this place! My kids both have multiple food allergies and I love that there is one place around that we can take them out to get ice cream (carry-out at the moment with all of the social distancing). The employees are very helpful and friendly :)
Prompt service and very welcoming.
They were pretty busy but the staff killed it with their friendliness made it still seem super personable. The young man with the brown hair killed it, even came to our table to ask us how everything was and apologized for the wait. Great ice cream but even better service!
I love this place. Its a fun, unique experience and honestly some of the best ice cream Ive ever had. The nerd in me loves the science, and ice cream must be one of my favorite things ever. Here, its so smooth and you get to pick exactly how its made. Whatever flavor you want, theyve got it, usually. Theyre not always perfect, but still amazing!
Talon and Bella are amazing employees! They kindly let us come in right before they closed and and let us order our icecream they were very friendly and generous. Their services deserve recognition and they show what a good Sub Zero employee should be.They deserve this 5 star rating its a to pleasure go to sub zero the employees treat you RIGHT π
I love this place and if you sign up with you phone they are always doing deals
This is a yummy and fun ice cream option. My husband tries to avoid sugar and dairy, so we appreciate all the many options and alternatives that this place offers. I personally go with the dairy option and find it good. My favorite is getting the flavor Nutella with cookie dough! The staff is always nice and so far only messed up our order once from the many times we visited. (It was a very busy day when the order got messed up and it was take out, so I first noticed when I got home. Otherwise they could have fixed it)
Great place! Really nice people behind the counter too.
This is quickly becoming my favorite sweet spot! I tried the Tropical Turbine today...amazing! I love the variations they have as well as options (keto, vegan, sugar free). I can have the perfect treat customized.
Love the ice cream here set in a quaint store with college downtown appeal.
