Very customer friendly and knowledgeable staff. Easy to talk to and youre understood.I have been patronizing their business for a very very long time.If you have custom car and parts needs then thats the place to be.
Very talented people at reasonable rates for your classic car. My classic has been on the road for 10 years now (and 45,000 miles) and I still hear a lot of compliments about the paint on the car. Plus the custom fabrication done, especially under the hood, is always a conversation starter.
Nice shop full of incredible projects. Well worth our time. Salt Creek Model As tour today. Will return.
Midwest Hot Rods worked on my car a few years ago. They are not cheap but they do good work. You get what you pay for. They stand behind their work and do not cut corners.
Stopped in on Sat morning with family to see what they have, and was greated by Randy one of the owners. He immediately took us on a tour, and to say we were impressed doesnt even come close more like astounded. What a high end place to get high quality work done.If you are looking for full on restoration, or a one off build, this is the place!
Needed some stainless tubing flared for a project I was working on, justin took me back to the guy that had the flaring tool he stopped what he was doing and took care of it, also ordered some material, which I couldnt find on my own, showed up in a few days, great service and people 👍👍
Pricey but knowledgeable.
Very knowledgeable and willing to help.
Great place to shop
Old school hot rods. Lots of those small performance parts you need to get the job done. When building you car and you realize you need a 45° AN fitting not that 90° you ordered online. Swing in here. I’m sure they have it and prices are right in line with online retailers.
Very helpful and knowledgeable!
Very knowledgeable group, even the newest/youngest were very friendly and helpful. Even though they had quite a few cars they made me feel like I was top priority. Id definitely recommend and do business with them again.
I got a tour of the place and I have to say theres so many amazing project cars and they are very friendly and love to talk cars. Quality of work looks on point!
Awesome guys, helpful, honest, and passionate about cars. I dont know if a lot of people realize they can get parts here. Pretty much anything you can get at Summit or Jegs, they can get. Usually for a similar price, and usually very quick.
Very good people to work for
Had my Camaro towed here after being turned away at another shop when it died on me. They were the most down to earth guys Ive ever dealt with at a shop. Explained everything in detail, never treated my mess of a car like the disaster it is (Ive experienced it at much less Shops from much worse technicians) Pricing was fair and honest. Their shop has every part for a hot rod you could need - even flat head valve covers - which Ive never seen for sale anywhere. Overall, Id recommend to anyone I know and Ill be back!
Small tasteless portions, poor soup selections for a Saturday (only 2 broth choices) but the service was fast and friendly, and the price was fair.
Amazing what they can do, I was at the open house and it blew my mind. Creating anything from scratch is what it looked like they could do. Wow I was impressed.
While it was expensive to have the car seats repaired, they were cheaper than others. And they did an excellent job
Brought my car in to have an AC installed and to have the exhaust checked for leaks. 5 weeks after I brought it in (I was told it would only take 2 weeks) I picked the care up and the bill was almost 3K more than the estimates I had been given. The cost of the AC installation was 1K more than we had discussed. I was told that the wiring around the radio was a rat’s nest and that took A lot of time to sort out. IL law requires that the customer be contacted for overages over 15%. I was never contacted. If they had called I would have said dont worry about it because I had plans to change the radio anyway. The other 1.5K of charges were for work that I did not ask to have done on the car and they never told me they were doing. BTW if this happens to you, you do not have to pay for work to which you did not consent. I was charged $200 for an oil change with standard oil and $75 for a K&N air filter for which I did not ask, and other work that I did not ask to have done. The most egregious charge was that they told me they had repositioned the rear shocks in a more vertical orientation for a better ride at a cost of $700. At the time, I did not know that they were not being honest with me and I figured if the work needed to be done then so be it.After driving the car home, I noticed the smell of exhaust fumes in the car as soon as I turned the AC off (you think they would have noticed this during the $300 worth of test drives they performed on the car?). The exhaust was one of the original reasons I took the car in and I made it clear to them that I needed this fixed. The fumes were bothering my father, who suffered from several respiratory illnesses at the time, and being able to use the car with him during that summer was a big reason I purchased the car. MWHR charged me 300 bucks to fix the exhaust and said they fixed the leak and went over the exhaust toughly. Given that it took them 5 weeks the first time and long distance between where I live and MWHR, I took the car to mechanic in my area, and in an hour, they diagnosed and showed me that all the joints in the exhaust were leaking and there was a hole in my radiator!!!! So much for MWHR’s through inspection?!?!?!? The new mechanic charged me $150 to weld the joints and fix the radiator. Since then, I have not smelled exhaust in the car. This raised my suspensions about the other work that had been done, so I asked the local mechanic to see if he could tell if the rear suspension had been modified. He told me there were no modifications in terms of welding that had been done to the rear (MWHR told me that had to cut and weld the rear suspension), and in fact the rear was 0.5 lower on one side than the other (So, if work had been done it was done poorly). The previous owner had given me hundreds of pictures of the car when it was being restored and I had many pictures for the day I purchased the car. From those pictures, it was obvious that shocks were in the same place they had been in originally and nothing had been done to the rear suspension, certainly no welding or cutting. This made me suspicion about the stated over charges for the AC installation. I then emailed the previous owner and asked if they had any pictures of the wiring that was done when the radio was installed. They sent me pictures that showed a very clean and neat wiring harness behind the gauges and radio. Meaning the “rat’s nest” excuse was not true. I thought about taking the car back, but for what? For them to do work that they did not do that never needed to be done in the first place? Besides, I really do not trust them at all at this point. Now, I wonder if they even did the oil change, radiator, and break line flush for which I was charged. Long story short, they charged me for work not done or done poorly and over charged me for the rest. My advice, stay away!
Love this place good people to work with
I have gotten multiple things TIG welded here. They have a great in house welder that lays great beads and their pricing and turn around times are great too.
