I visited Tire City to get a heavy truck tire for my work van and actually beat the price of the local competition by about $50 I did this in one day on a Saturday they were very very helpful I was able to drop the car off and come back and pick it up 2 hours later this is a great place to go its right on the corner of Jefferson and J Clyde Morris Boulevard and behind the pharmacy drug store there that works the sales counter who is either his father or Grandads relative is the owner and he is very very very professional polite and helpful. Unfortunately I cannot remember his name at this time. I highly recommend this business for tires especially for your commercial Fleet
Excellent service and value! The reason the parking lot and customers lounge is packed (and the tire store next door is empty) is because of the great service and value it is dealing with Mike and his staff.I drive from Norfolk to have nitrogen put in my vehicles, camper, boat and other trailers tires, and trust their work on my vehicles is because they do it right the first time! Thanks Mike for all the years of great service! In response to place is packed and had to wait 4 hours….Coming in at a time where they’re very busy (which is almost always) or pour planning on your part doesn’t make it their fault or deserve 1 star!
I bring my vehicle here to be inspected.i could easily take to dealership and have free inspection however I can call ahead pretty much know what to expect and I feel a much more welcoming hello when I come.why go somewhere you dont feel welcome even though you may have purchased your vehicle there when a sense of welcome greets you here?
Fast professional service. Had a screw in the tire and quick turn around and was out.
The fellas at Tire City always treat me right. Whether its advice, price, or just being plain nice. This is a very well oiled machine and they have been up and running for decades.👍👍👍👍👍
I got base experience and tire City I go like my car they told me they dont can lineman because something wrong my car its still charming 79 dollar even they dont do the job and I recommend this place
Just got tires. My car runs perfectly. Only one thing, no fought from Tire City. Vice President Biden arrival to Yorktown held up traffic. So naturally our stay at Tire City was longer. I really enjoyed the owner grandson.
Quality work, and they went the extra mile. The staff was very friendly. I would recommend them to anyone looking for affordable quality work.
The store was the least expensive tore place out of 8 stores in area good work / fast / service! I live in Smithfield the travel was worth the time! Will keep going there!🇺🇸🇺🇸😷😎
Great family owned business. Ask for Mike. I got great warrantied tires for $59 each...
Quick service. They didnt give me a quote, but the charges were fair.
Brought in for new tie rods and alignment. Tied my truck up for an entire day, Charged me $50 to take a tie rod off tell me the new part doesnt match then put old ones on. 1/2 hr of labor that I couldve done in easily 10 minutes... I wont be coming here for service again.
Great fast courtesy service
If you need tires or a flat fixed they are on top of it. Fast, quality service at a great price. Definitely recommend to anyone with tire needs.
Completely incompetent. You wont get the same tire you dropped off, they will give you the closest thing to it even if its the wrong size without telling you. They have lost 3-4 tires ive dropped off in the last month. Called to complain and the owner hung up on me. Great customer service! Dont waste your time.
Then men who work here are thieves. Stole items out of my car, in the glove compartment. Do not trust them with your car.
Great small tire shop. Its my go-to for new tires & tire patches. Staff does good work & very friendly.
Within two months, the first inquiry for Yokohama tires was about $700, the second inquiry was about $800, and the third inquiry was $900. Considering this location is very close to me, I had to choose a high price, but the tires are always out of steam., The tire is very easy to break, high price and poor quality tire shop, not recommended.
Great employees always willing to help and do whatever they can for their customers! Highly recommend
The best place to go for honest vehicle repairs. If you get an expensive estimate somewhere else, check with them for an estimate first. You might, just might, even find out that other place is recommending repairs that are not actually needed...
I admit that I was a bit hesitant to bring my car in for tire service after reading the last reviews but a friend had recommended them. They were great! Not only were they able to help but my bill was much lower than expected and I got my state inspection done at the same time. This team has years of experience and I would trust them to work on any of my vehicles. The walks in the lobby are filled with local history - that was an unexpected treat. Honest and dependable, not something you find everywhere anymore. Thanks!
Family own business. Great prices and fast service.
Been going here for repairs for years, never disappointed. When I look for an outstanding restaurant I look for a full parking lot and expect to have to wait. Same for auto repairs. I look for a full parking lot and I expect to wait. Their parking lots always full and the wait has always been worth it.
Wonderful experience! The customer care and service are great. We needed a front end alignment on our sons car. Friends recommended Tire city. The gentleman at the counter was professional and friendly. He explained that there were other customers in front of me. That’s just how it works in a first come, first served situation. After a short wait our car was driven up to the front door and ready to go. Check out was fast and easy. The car handles great! Thank you Tire city staff, your professionalism and quality work are appreciated .
Tire City helped replace my tire the week of the 4th of July at 9 PM when my tire popped and I was 2 hours away from home. Thanks Tony and Tire City!!!!!!!!
This is the second vehicle i brought into this location. The staff is very friendly and listened to the issue I was having with my tires. He took the time to look it over himself, figure out what the problem was and fixed it! Great prices, great staff!
I’d give zero if I could. I went in on a Saturday and talked to an older gentleman, they were a bit busy and had to order the tires I needed. Which was understandable but it was confirmed my vehicle would be ready Wednesday. Well here it is Thursday and I haven’t even received a call. I suggest going to a different location unless you can go careless longer than expected.
I dont know if its racism or just blatant laziness. This location seems to never have time for men of color. According to the reviews and from my personal experience we are usually told to leave our cars for an inordinate amount of time for procedures that should be quick and routine. I suggest that you do business with one of the many other mechanics in the area and report this type of behavior to the BBB as I have done. In this day and age service businesses must have better responses than oh well and tough luck
Ive bought a set of tires from them and have had a couple patched from nails and stuff on my other car. They are fast and helpful! Will do business with them in the future!
Honest and easy going company. Mike make everything easier. Thank you
I havent yet had new tires or other work done here, but I have visited twice for tire repairs since moving to Newport News. I was in and out with the fixed tire on my vehicle in less than 25 minutes for $26. I would have been happy to drop off the tire and pick it up at the end of the day or the next day. Pat fetched the tire and immediately went to work on it! I will definitely give them my business when it comes time for new tires.
Waited three hours for a tire repair. The next morning repaired tire was flat. Pumped it up, drove back to the location. The owner was extremely rude. Said it would be another four hour wait (place was packed). Since I had already waited my turn the first day, I felt we should have been serviced quick. Asked the owner for that consideration, he basically said tuff luck! I asked if he would refund the price paid so that I could go elsewhere. Was told they didn’t do that. So a seven hour wait to fix a flat tire twice. For the record, there was a nail removed that they missed the first time. Never even received an apology for this terrible customer service. Will not set foot in this business again!
This was the worst experience by far from a business Ive ever dealt with. I took my 06 Lexus GS300 in to service a tire sensor light that I couldnt get to go out even though all of my tires had good air pressure. They first tried to get me to buy all 4 sensors but since Im selling the vehicle I only wanted the bad sensor causing the issue replaced. It took them all day to finally get the sensor light out and from what I was told they had to purchase Lexus sensors instead of using their rewritable one. I ended up purchasing two sensors. I thought the issue was resolved only to wake up in the morning to find my tire flat and the sensor light didnt come on not to mention they left my trunk in shambles checking the spare tire for a sensor which it did not have. So they again was indicating that I may have needed to replace the other two so to keep them honest I said okay lets do it. I dropped my vehicle back off they again had it all day didnt call me didnt keep me updated so I finally called about 30 minutes before it was time for business to close to their reply you can come and get your vehicle. So I get up there still didnt have my light out and they said they couldnt fix the issue. Mind you I have already paid them for the first two sensors to be done including labor. They didnt charge me for this second visit but my issue still wasnt resolved. So I took my vehicle up to the dealership who indicated that the sensors were programmed incorrectly so they corrected the issue and my vehicle is fine now so I took the receipt up from their findings to inform that the sensors were program incorrectly and requested a refund for their labor. The owner which is the old guy thats up at the counter was refusing to give me my refund and wanted me to call his distributor of his parts to my reply why do I need to call them. He indicated that theyre the ones that did the coding oh the sensors and to speak with them in reference to what needed to be done. To my reply I said I dont need to speak with them I just need my refund for the labor that was done incorrectly. He still suggested that I call so I did and in speaking with his distributor they indicated that they dont do the coding and its done by the business. So after going back and forth with the owner arguing with me I am formed that I was contacting the Better Business Bureau then I finally got my refund. Needless to say I would never ever go to this establishment nor recommend anyone to that establishment. I guess the only time you get good service is if youre buying tires there from looking at the review history.
RUDE BAD SERVICE!!!!!! 10/21/2020 5:15pmCalled for tire installation on an Acura, guy asks what size tire, told him the size, he replies we dont do those here ....I asked why & he says, TAKE THEM BACK WHERE YOU GOT THEM FROM
I have been going to Tire City for almost 20 years. They are reliable and professional. They have worked on my car, inspected my car, fixed tires, and sold me tires at extremely reasonable prices. Best of all they are very honest. I keep going back because I know that I will always get good service.
Friendly service and fair prices. I would recommend dropping your car off as the wait times tend to be long.
I would have given a higher score. However I bought 4 new tires and w/in 2 months one kept loosing air. Took it back they checked and said all were under inflated. A week later I’m back because the tire was low 20 lbs. Back I go to be told it’s the tire stem. Shouldn’t they have caught that at least the second time??
Terrible customer service. Waited 3hrs for 2 front tires and a alignment. I would of been there alot longer if I didnt start asking why it was taking so long.
Great prices, excellent customer service and a fast turnaround. Definitely recommend.
I do not recommend this company. Terrible service. They take way to long and the staff is difficult to work with.
They failed my wifes car inspection .. So I went to change pads next day and they were still at 95%. I called up there and asked why they failed .. Could not give me a answer.I put new ones on any way. Went up there for re inspection and took old break pads with me to show them.they still could not say why they failed being in such great shape. Just that they failed... They tried to charge her 150 to replace something that did not. Need to be replaced.. I will never go there again and would not recommend it to anyone
Excellent service. Great prices. Trustworthy. And super nice! Highly recommend!
Had a friend drop off their car for a state inspection at 6AM just for them to forget her car was even there. Even though they claimed they were working on another vehicle all day, I do not understand how that has anything to do with informing your customers PRIOR to closing that their vehicle would not be ready. Their response? We may be able to get to it first thing tomorrow. The body language and nonchalant response was horrible. I will definitely not be coming to them for services.
Good experience from a good local company. They installed the tires on my trailer for the price quoted and didnt try to jack me up for anything extra. Good professional job, nice to have a local company I can trust for tires. It may have been a couple bucks more than online but who wants only Walmart and Amazon to survive. I highly recommend the folks at tire City
Tore my new shocks up installing tires. Jaguar.
Ive been using Tire City for over 30 years, just had work done today. Fast, friendly, fair prices, great service, Id give them ten stars if I could!
Had a full set of tires I ordered online delivered here for installation. Service was quick and easy, and at no additional cost from what I paid online through a 3rd party for the tires. Once I got my new tires, later that night, I got a low tire pressure indicator in my front left tire. I filled it up thinking maybe the tire just was never inflated to where it shouldve been, no big deal. Then the next day the indicator was back, so I immediately called Tire City Inc about my issue, and they told me to bring it in right away, that theyd make room for me. When I arrived the wasted no time in getting my car in. After 15-20 minutes they came back and said problem is resolved, I had a bad valve core which they fixed at no cost to me. Great service in a timely fashion. The waiting area/lobby is clean, usually has a tv playing for you to watch, and has a lot of cool memorabilia on the walls relating to the local area and local military. Highly recommend this place.
Scratched all 4 rims. Said they didnt do it and just got rims 10 days before.. wrote inside rim. Never go back. Took advantage of my wife. See them in court
Best tire place in town. Outstanding staff. Very knowledgeable and make good suggestions.
Dropped off truck at 10am....at 4.30 still no inspection. I know this is a constant problem because I live close enough to walk home and have gone through this for years.....Ive moved recently and am done with these people.....they obviously dont want to do inspections.
Very happy great family owned business Always looks out for my business vehicles as a family owned small business I greatly appreciate that!
Mike does not always do what he says, as 1 of the previous reviewers wrote, and the customer service was horrible. I will not be back and will make sure to deter anyone I know. I waited 45 mins, before he told me that the tires he ordered were not delivered yet. The tires were placed the next day and when I asked for a discount of the price, because of the wasting of my time, he took no ownership at all. It wasnt his fault and then he proceeded to make funny comments about my shirt, instead of addressing the problem. He was so unprofessional.
The older gentleman has the worst customer service. He doesnt acknowledge people when theyre standing right in front of them. Its a small thing but its huge. Something as simple as Ill be with you in a moment. goes a long way. He couldnt be bothered and it didnt make me feel welcome. I gave it a shot but I wont be coming back.
Been here many times not sure whats up with all the bad reviews... Ive never brought a vehicle here for an inspection but got awesome prices for tires and did a hell of a job on my alignment.... I mean it IS Tire City... Just saying... These small businesses just arent going to be able to treat you guys like Amazon or Walmart can..
They should call it “Tired City”. They told me it would be about 2 hours for a state inspection. I finally left 4 hours later without an inspection becaue I got tired of waiting. No apologies or anything. I won’t go back.
They were competitively priced and very helpful. I had some problems with my car and they worked with me and gave me several options. They are usually busy so it takes a little while but I will be back.
HaHa anyone who says fast service on these reviews is a complete liar. i worked at this location and can tell you they are slower than slow..
In an outstanding job on my two tiller tires very friendly people
Love these Guys, They know the business they are in. Fair Prices, Make it happen attitude.
Went there for them to fix a commercial lawnmower tire. Frist time took them 3 days to fix it. Next time I told them to put a tube in side the tire, they come back and said they patch the tire because they didnt have a tube and it would hold, yea it held for two hours, took it back and ask for my money back if he didnt have tube. Now he told me he got tubes coming, i said when cause I need it fix now he told me saying Im going to give you your money back but dont bring them kind of tires back here any more. No more will I ever go back their again.
Great people and service but a little pricey for a tire to be plugged/patched, $26.00.
Came for a tire (off vehicle) greeted nicely. Tire sat in lobby. Young guys come up with same problem. Greeted only they take their tire to the back. It comes up they pay they leave. 30 min later my tire goes back. I feel maybe they have more privelage than me....... 2 days later...... in here for an inspection. Arrived at 7am . Its 11 and my truck has not moved. Nobody has said a word and the lobby has filled up and emptied all after my arrival. I dont recoomend this place. Coincidentally my money must not be as green as the others served before me,but this is an older place with older employees, and really, there are no coincidences
Experienced adults working here. I like that. The tech called me in the back to discuss my truck. I was able to ask questions. Thank you much.
Great place to deal with/family business since 1945-excellent mechanics and service
Open at 6am. Good price and excellent customer service
I was here for over thirty minutes and could not get the price on a tire let not to talk about fixing it.... It could have been nice if my time was wasted in a professional manner..
ALWAYS EASY TO WORK WITH, PROMPT WITH COMPETETIVE PRICES.IVE BEEN VISITING THEM FOR YEARS, ALWAYS HONEST AND HELPFUL.
Good place. Their people skills could be better but I think they are honest and knowledgeable, which to me are the most important qualities.
Mike and his crew always do what they say and treat you fairly. Prices are competitive and workmanship excellent.
They were promt and attentative. Had the larger size tires in stock that I needed. It did take a couple of hours longer than they had originally quoted. Customer service is great.
My mom used to work there and the people that do work there are kind and polite
4 / 20 in. tires for 500.00....cant beat it.Then I came in 1 month later to get a nail repair done, and they wouldnt even give me the air to go somewhere else. Said they didnt have the time to fill it with air....after I just bought all 4 of the tires from you.......really?Dont worry, went next door to davids tire, they came over to tire city lot filled my tire with air then fixed my tire....thanks davids!!!!
Amazing owner and staff!
Best place in around ! Fast and friendly service !
The front desk lady was wonderfully polite and part of the reason I came in along with glowing online reviews. Unfortunately upon my arrival one of the service guys was extremely short and rude with me. Immediately after my interaction with him I witnessed him interacting with other males to whom he was much more friendly. I was quoted a wait time of 30min for a tire patch. I waited over an hour before I mentioned that my car hadnt even been brought back. The rude man from the front then asked the lady for the Honda key (my car is a Mazda). They finally pulled my car back and it took another hour for my car to be finished. I dont suggest going here unless youre a middle aged guy or else youll probably be talked to like youre a child and put on the back burner.
Got my car inspected. 3 hour wait, but I didnt mind. Took magazines and my book. I waited to last few days of the month so its on me.
It was efficient and I was in and out within an hour.It was a decent price and overall i am satisfied.
Great service and reasonable prices too! Whenever we need new tires or tire repair, this is our go to place
Incredible customer care. Very Friendly and Professional. Cant beat the prices!!
Hassle free friendly and stand by their work had a front end aliment done thank you for doing it properly had pep boys and Firestone do it before coming to you after 3 days it was out of alignment fed up came to you and walla no more trouble thanks again Tire City we will be back and will recommend you to my friends
Unprofesional. Said will do my car inspection and after waiting ALL day just told me would not doit.
Had real good expetince
Worst tire shop ever. We showed up wanting new tires. Got talked into used. Then put 2 different tires on rearend. After I straight up said not to. Horrible place
Fast service good quality
Best tire prices I have personally came across. Had my odd tire size in stock and installed same day as I called
Pretty good - better to leave vehicle
I showed up when they opened for an inspection and there were 2 cars in the parking lot and 3 men standing around doing nothing but talking. When I asked them how long it was going to be they told me it would be more than 6 hours.
I dropped off my car. The service desk took my name and phone number on a notepad.Hmmmm, i work in hampton but live in va. Beach. I asked the guy, will you be able to fix my car today? He said oh yes. Thank you. No call store closed. Hmmmm im stuck in hampton. Next day, I call and the guy says i need a 300 dollar bearing. I said please repair it. He said ok. Knowing the history. I called at 1:00pm. And the vuy said the part arrives at 4:00pm. I said does that mean it will get fixed today? This guy says um, maybe. I said i already got stuck here last night. Yes or no? He said bring it back Monday. These people seemed to have one guy out back woth multiple cars in multiple bays being repaired by one guy? He didnt look happy. The service guy said well bring youre car right up! Lol, i walked back and hauled ass. Dont waste youre time.
Too expensive somewhat friendly
I take giving praise or criticism very seriously. I will call out the manager at a restaurant to give the server some praise if they are doing outstanding job, but Ill also call you on the carpet if you try to BS me or treat me poorly.I recently took my pickup in to Tire City to get a state inspection and a patch put on the LF tire (picked up a nail in the tread). I had put soapy water on the tire before going to Tire City and marked the spot with a paint marker to make it easier for their mechanics to find the leak. A week later I noticed that the tire was still leaking. I put soapy water on it again and found that it was still leaking from the exact same spot. I took it back and he stated that You must have run over another nail in the same tire, but he agreed to look at it. (I should play the lottery. What are the odds of getting a nail in the same tire in exactly the same spot?) When I went back to pick it up he said that There was another really small nail that the guy overlooked the first time and he patched it again even though I had told him that it was still leaking from the exact same spot and that I didnt see a nail when I did the soapy water test a second time... with my reading glasses on....I drove the truck to work the next day and the steering wheel was shaking pretty badly at any speed over 60 mph on the interstate, so I took it back that afternoon and asked if they had re-balanced the tire after patching it. He then started insisting that it was now the BACK tires that were out of balance (even though it had driven smooth as silk until they re-patched the LF tire the day before). I asked why the steering wheel would shake and not my butt if it truly was the back tire and he couldnt give me a reason, but still insisted that it was the fault of the back tires. I then said that Id pay for ALL FOUR tires to be balanced, BUT Id insist on watching the mechanic do it to find out whether it really was the front or back tires that were suddenly out of balance. He said that hed have his guy re-check the LF tire balancing even though he was SURE that it was the rear tires that were out of balance, because after all, he has been in the tire business for over 30 years! Sure enough, his mechanic had somehow forgot to mark the tire so that they wouldnt have to re-balance it after patching it. The truck drives smooth as silk again (even though the back tires were never touched, and they supposedly were the culprit according to them?).Ive been working on cars and trucks and have been a car guy since I was about 13 years old. I have owned over 130 cars and trucks in my life since restoring old cars and trucks and racing cars and trucks is my hobby, and I also managed one of the biggest race car/restoration shops in the Midwest for a couple of years. I KNOW cars and trucks. But I really hate it when places like this try to BS you just to get out of doing work the RIGHT way. If he had said Man, Im sorry, the guy got sidetracked and just forgot to patch the tire or He forgot to rebalance the tire when he patched it it would have made it a lot easier and I would have gladly smiled and walked away and let them make it right. I just feel bad for the people who really dont know or understand cars and that have to trust places like this to treat them well...
They always provide great service and are completely honest. I trust them with my vehicles.
Came in with a blown trailer tire had me out in 15 min. Great service.
Great place to get tires
Completely tore up the outer lip of my wheels... Which cost over $2400. will not be returning
Love tire city
Been a customer here for 40 + years, they take care of their customers.
Thank you for always being there for me when I call and taking care of my family and of course the Peninsula Title crew that has your number on speed dial! Dont know what we would do without you!
Really good work
Do not leave any money on you car I left 64 dollars on my and when I pick my truck up money was gone what a shame!!!👎👎👎
Thanks for the help guys. Back on the road!
