Such a fun experience!! Went with my wife and pre-teen son, and we had such a great time. The desserts were incredible, and the entire experience was a highlight of our trip. I ordered the Big Apple Pie A La Mode (closest to me) and my wife ordered the Frozen Hot Chocolate (their signature dessert). My son ordered the Forbidden Broadway Sundae, and that by itself wouldve been enough for all 3 of us. Each dessert was not only a HUGE portion, but delicious as well. Its hard to say which was my favorite, but if I were to go back I would probably get the Frozen Hot Chocolate for myself (even though the Big Apple Pie a la Mode was legit amazing).
I normally dont go to places just for dessert, but man this place was incredible. If you have a sweet tooth, come here. Plain and simple! Its expensive I must admit, but well worth the price of admission. The freaking pecan pie is the best Ive ever had, period.Come eat here, stop reading this and go eat some dessert trust me.
When I initially walked in the smell of ice cream was so intense I thought it was an ice cream shoppe. But this was a unique and wonderful total restaurant experience, liked the artfulness of the place in the menu, the walls and the food. We had just burgers and hot dogs at our table and they were perfect! Really excellent all around!
Went there for my daughters 11th birthday after she requested a “fancy restaurant that sells burgers”. I made reservations for 7pm. We arrived a few minutes early and didn’t have to wait long to be seated. The hostess was really nice. They ask for proof of vaccination at the door (including minors). We had Leslie as our waitress and she went above and beyond for us, she definitely made my daughters day extra special. Shout out to her! The food was amazing also! We all had a great time and will make sure to be back again.
1 lb ice cream in a jug. Waste of money and food. Huge Quantity for 28 dollars. Wont recommend even to a worst enemy. Rediculous ambiance, loud music. Crazy pictures and chandeliers everywhere. I came in because of my 10 year old. Please save this planet and dont come here. Unless you want to hurt your body, and become diabetic or need a heart attack. Unbelievable!!!!
Coming here was a product of chance. I never intended to come here but after disembarking from the Q32 after crossing the Ed Koch bridge I saw that there wasnt many people inside. I decided to try entering even though I had no reservation. Fortunately I was able to get in and get a Drug Store Sundae. It felt good to let the inner child in me out and on occasion its good for every hard working adult to do likewise.
We went to Sp3 for just deserts and they lived up to the hype. The portion sizes are huge so one sundae will server for three people approx. Please ask recommendations from the server to avoid food wastage! We were 5 people and ordered one of their famous hot chocolate, a chocolate sundae and a coffee + some fries to come back from the sugar rush in the end and that was perfect.
Glad we came here to experiance this famous place. I wish we could have had bigger stomachs as we could barely put a dent in our over the top ice cream sundaes. Seems best to make reservations as we overheard wait times were up to 1.5 hours+ While the whole place was visually captivating the food matched. Definately worth the wait and walk to get to.
Went a week day with my daughter and friends. Wanted to eat a quick ice cream. Didn’t know a reservation was needed just to eat it. Gave my name and party of 3. Waited 45 minutes to get a table.Music was very loud. Impossible to talk.Overrated menu and expensive for what it is!We took a 3 scoop ice cream to share. Was just ok. Wasn’t worth 45 minutes wait.As we were inside, many tables got empty (see photo) but no more customer came in even though the line was still long.Server was very nice and tried to make us buy more. Person at the front wasn’t friendly.Overall, overrated and will not recommend.
What a con job. Ridiculously priced diner food with unreasonable portions. If you think you are normal and want to split their double sized portions, they will charge you 17.95 just for sitting at the table. 20 dollar hit dogs. Not exaggerating. Service is just polite enough to not be rude but they nearly ignore you once they have your order. I walked away feeling like I had been taken advantage of. Thew away 60 percent of the food. This place is one and done in my book. The quality of the food is nothing special.
Rating this place a 5 purely on ambiance and the desserts. There was alot of food to choose from but nothing really out of this world. Ordered the foot long hot dog and chili cheese fries and both were passable. The desserts on the other hand were phenomenal! Highly recommend the frozen hot chocolate which is a staple there and if you really love chocolate try the chocolate cake Sunday. Fair warning though, portions are huge so make sure to share otherwise youll end up leaving alot of leftovers. Also dont forget to call ahead for a reservation otherwise youll be waiting over an hour to be seated. Theres an Icon parking lot right on front in case you decide to drive there.
Was seated quickly with reservation. Music was perfect (80s). Food portions were enormous and delicious. Sundaes were just as huge. Share if you can agree on one dessert. Waitress was very attentive and nice. A great stop on our NYC visit.
This place has been riding on its reputation & former glory for years. Please, take the profits from your $26 sundaes and renovate. Not update, renovate. Oh, and l realize theres a line of 15 deep outside, but if the server asks every 5 minutes how we doing? Can i take that away for you?, Im going to dine & dash! Training the staff to push that hard for a faster turnaround just shows the customer how unimportant their experience is to the owners of Serendipity.
Service was pretty decent, that’s why I added another star. Was super excited to try this place out and even seriously considering purchasing their $200+ fries.. that is, until I actually visited. Upon my visit, the hostess told me they were closed and I couldn’t come in.. then said she was “just kidding”! I was then seated and proceeded to look at the menu, when placing my order with the waiter he says the kitchen is closed ! It is was a little past ten.. my reservation was for 10:30, they close at 12am, so you could imagine my confusion. Then I saw the person sitting next to me, they brought him a whole meal just after they said the kitchen was closed (picture added)!! I brushed it off.. ordered a cocktail then asked for salt around the rim of my margarita, they said no, they can’t do that.. I ordered another cocktail, it sucked, then I got my butt out of there, never to return again. Don’t trust the hype.
The owner, Bruce, is the sweetest and most interesting man. He made us feel at home at very welcome. The place itself is home to the worlds most expensive sundae and a very interesting history with icons such as artist Andy Warhol, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, and Taylor Swift frequenting the shop. The sundaes themselves from what I recollect were very generous in size and were very good. I had the butterscotch sundae. It also has a gift shop right at the entrance located on the first floor of the building.
The frozen hot chocolate is to die for but large enough to split. Mac n cheese was tasty but not their best dish. Lobster Mac was really good. Very family-friendly. Attentive service but tight quarters. Highly recommend.
Food and drinks delicious. Service on point. Reservation in advance recommended.
This restaurant is known for two things - 1) the movie ‘Serendipity’ and 2) frozen hot chocolate; and iso so worth the trip! Considering how well known it is, the prices are reasonable, portion sizes huge, and a fun and unique experience! There is always a wait there, so best to get a reservation. While waiting though, check out the world-records and other interesting things in the front portion. There is an upstairs and downstairs - the upstairs is a bit more classy and the downstairs has a unique vibe. A great place for locals and tourists to go to and enjoy a great meal and incredible drink!
Renzo was an awesome waiter. Great way to end our vacation.
I admit that I came in with the preconceived notion it would be gimmicky. I have to say, though, they do a great job and we really enjoyed ourselves. Our 9 year-old was in heaven with her over the top desert and the food was way better than I expected.
You wont believe the experience here! Our waitress, I believe her name was Clara Belle, was exceptional! She explained the menu and help make recommendations. Ordered the Truffle burger, it was cooked as requested and delicious....a little thicker than I prefer but thw taste made up for that! It came with fries & was served piping hot! Couldnt eat dessert but because it was National Ice Cream Day & had made reservations, we received a free pint of hot chocolate flavored ice cream to take back to the hotel to enjoy later! It was delicious!! Great New York experience!
Visited last week when I went for a mini vacation in NYC.The food was really good and the servers were nice. Their frozen hot chocolate is the reason I went there and it was unique and I’d go back just for that. The only thing I would say that I didn’t like from it was that the only way to get to eat relatively quickly was if you’re eating dinner; when we got there we said we just wanted to try the frozen hot chocolate and they said it would be a 1 hour + wait when we could clearly see there were tables available. The moment we said we wanted to eat dinner, they quickly made arrangements and let us in; not very courteous in that regard.
Absolutely lives up to its reputation. A very pleasant environment, great service, and fantastic food. Everything we had was delicious.
If you havent watch the old movie Serendipity, you wont appreciate this place as much even though its one of the best! And the best for frozen hot chocolate! 🤤🤤🤤
Made a reservation for 11.15am and we arrived on time and we were brought to our table after a slight wait. I note that the signs on the door suggest to make a reservation, and since they recently reopened it seems they are busy all around. The place is quirky, fun and well decorated and we were given seats on the lower floor. I noticed that there were additional seats on the upper floor. The server who helped us was extremely energetic and helpful and gave very good food and dessert suggestions, and we were overall extremely happy with the speed at which the food came out and the quality of the food. The sundae was the highlight of the meal (two of us shared one) and it was a good way to end the meal. Price-wise, mains and desserts were around $24 each, so do be prepared to pay a little more - but I found that it was a worthwhile experience. It was their opening week and seems like everything went smoothly, and I would definitely bring visitors to New York to this place.
Its not the old serendipity where you banged your head on the fixtures and they had such a big menu that you were trapped and couldnt see your table mate till you ordered, but it was a soft relaunch. Some of the favorites arent currently on the menu so dont rely on the online pages to decide what you want to eat before you go. I went actually tacos and the table went guacamole, which were pretty amazing and I would put them up against the top in the city. Finally I hope you like fries, because you will get tons
So dang good! The frozen hot chocolate was delicious. We also ordered a sandwich and a burger & both were great! Also, the staff was very friendly & helpful. Highly recommended !
Loved it! We loved the atmosphere and the desserts were wonderful. I came here for the frozen hot chocolates and was not disappointed. There was no wait and our waiter was very friendly.
The place is really really small and crowded. The tables by us were so close, I touched elbows with the guy next to me. The overall decor is too good, although very feminine, loud music. The servers are fantastic, hats off to Daniel, two extra stars for him.Lastly, major disappointment is lack of vegan options in the menu. This is the twenty first century when the planet is fighting a climate change disaster. Please accomodate vegan people and have a few good options, we are trying to save the planet by fighting climate change. Sometimes we have to accompany non-vegans to such places.
This place was amazing! Burger was great but the cake/ice cream concoctions is were they shine! Go for the desert and vibe, then order your diner... if you have any room left!
LOVE LOVE LOVE. My friend & I visited in Feb. 2020, right before the Covid apocalypse :( The frozen hot chocolate that mesmerizes in movies is the real deal - it’s simply heavenly & divine! I’m not even a sweets or desserts person & I could’ve downed 2 of these frozen wonders. The place exudes charm & architectural character... especially upstairs where you’ll see like the original honeycomb floor tile, a fireplace, beautiful ceilings with classic moulding & fun sherbet colors, funky chandeliers. I love that they left these beautiful details intact & didn’t remodel away all the charm. And if you’re lucky you can sit at the famous Serendipity movie table in front of the fireplace. (We were close, only 1 table away!) Yes we had to wait a bit crammed like sardines in the narrow entry area but it was worth it. And they moved people through quick on the day of our visit. Seemed like an efficient operation. Hopefully this iconic establishment can reopen in the very near future!
Love this place. Hot chocolate was delicious...
This was my second visit and I cant wait to go back. My cousin said, I love this chicken after every bite. Its crispy, juicy, seasoned and its basically fire.
Odd funky decor with a discoball.I got seated pretty quickly with _ serviceI ordered a hamburger and a cookies and cream milkshake, with my others ordering a Sunday and a lemon ice boxEverything was excellent! The burger was excellent meat, cooked perfectly, with an excellent bun.My milkshake was smooth and creamy, definitely worth the cost. The cinnamon in the crust to the lemon custard in the lemon ice box.The ice cream on the Sunday was top quality.
Everyone at Serendipity was so welcoming and sweet and kind in helping celebrate my moms 68th birthday!! ❤️ The desserts were perfect and the staff really made her day special! Words will never describe the joy everyone at Serendipity brought her! The fact we were the first guests for the famed restaurants re-opening made it even better and will always be a wonderful memory! This is a must visit for anyone in the city!
Beautiful space. Great food. Aram and the rest of the staff were very nice and accommodating. Cant wait to go back.
Epic sundaes. Surprisingly good mac and cheese. Fun decor. Quantity too much. Every table that ordered sundaes ended up wasting half of it. So much food wasted!
I’ve been here once before the renovations and once after. Both times were great but the second time was extra special thanks to Renzo. He went above and beyond to help make the environment manageable for my son. Stellar service
Everyone was very professional and was friendly. We had a wonderful time. Great food and service. Would definitely recommend!
Delicious food and great staff. The staff was super attentive without being overbearing. The staff is super friendly and the restaurant is very clean. Food portions are large and so filling.
While the frozen chocolate tastes really good, everything there is super expensive. $27 for ice cream!! Yes, you read that correctly, $27 for ice cream!! Also, they charge 3% when you use your credit card. They don’t even bother telling you that they charge that, you only see that once the waitress charges your credit card. To me, that’s very shady and that’s not how you run a business. Why should a customer have to pay the restaurants credit card transaction fee? That’s the cost of doing business
A brownstone turned sugary icon made famous by its frozen hot chocolate. They take reservations now via Yelp which makes it convenient but they still employ a silly rule that everyone in your party has to be there in order to be seated.Brunch items like omelettes and sandwiches are also available but people still come for the frozen hot chocolate and the variety of desserts and cakes on offer. Service is generally friendly and efficient. A must stop when in NYC.
The strawberry fields sundae was delectable! Excellent service, super cute place, and overall great experience! Best chicken salad sandwich Ive ever had!
Im so glad we went out of our way to visit. I loved it. The service was delightful and the whole shop was very charming.
The delectable meals and the lovely interiors are to die for. Had a great time with my family. Would love to visit again
I wasnt sure if this place would love up to the hype, but the thing is-- it did. The desserts were pricey, but really delicious. The Frozen hot chocolate was the perfect cold chocolate drink. Not too rich. We got the small banana split (or cowards portion- Ha.) and it was huge. More than enough for two people. The service was delightful and the whole shop was very charming. Im so glad we went out of our way to visit. I loved it.
Great place! Had a great time here. Definitely going back with my friends!
First time in this restaurant visiting from California with my family and it was an amazing experience! The service we received was out of this world, the hostess Melissa made us feel so welcomed and gave us an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend!
This was one of the places we had to stop while on our trip to New York. I had never heard of the place but my wife had. We got the Frozen Hot Chocolate, and the Cheesecake Sunday. The Frozen Hot chocolate wasn’t that good at all. Very bland. The Sunday was really good. The place was very packed and a long wait time but that’s what I came to expect in NYC. The bathrooms were very clean. The workers were very friendly. I don’t know that I would recommend to a friend to go to this place. All in all it was just an ok experience.
Tasty and fun, but expensive! Even though all the desserts are huge sharing size, they require an $8 minimum per head when sitting in, which made it really awkward for my group of three who had more than enough with the giant sundae we ordered, but in order to reach the minimum we had to order an extra thing we didn’t actually need. HOWEVER, the sundae and hot chocolate drink we got were *delicious* and definitely lived up to the hype. Decor inside was really cute/interesting too.
The ice cream was very good, they need more non-dairy optionsApple pie was upsetting with such a small portion
It may be a tourist trap, but for good reason! It’s SO yummy and such a fun spot for pictures! If it’s your first time in NYC, do not miss this!
We were happy to hear that theyre open again, but it wasnt the same experience unfortunately. Its ridiculously overpriced for the offered quality (feels like even more than pre-pandemic), their signature frozen hot chocolate was ok, a bit frustrating to drink with chunks of ice getting stuck in straws, their frozen hot white chocolate had some weird bitter aftertaste... Staff was great, friendly, though a little overwhelmed in the beginning. Totally understandable - staff shortage is a common problem at the moment. Overall, we felt like it was not worth it.
Food and service was ok. The wait staff is always trying to take my food away when I wasnt finished with my food. But it wasnt memorable. I really would not go here again. Ur sitting on top of each other. I got hit with that blond in the picture hair. Luckily I wasnt facing her or my eyes would have gotten hit with her hair. So inconsiderate. People and wait staff keeps hitting my chair. So wanted to go here too. So disappointed. Definitely not going back here.
Sonia was our server and she made it such an amazing and fun experience! All of the staff was enthusiastic and kind.
Made reservations here about two months ahead of our trip and it was a good thing because there was about a two hour wait at the door! The overall experience was just ok for me, definitely overpriced. The famous frozen jot chocolate is essentially an $18 hot chocolate slushie. The chicken and waffles were by far the best item we had. If youre visiting NY then this is a cool spot to visit with the family and once youve done it once your good.
Love this place. Got taken here for my birthday before the pandemic and did not expect to love it as much as i do. Space is relatively small and has a lot of decorations and interesting pieces to look at while you wait for your food. You without have to try a dessert or their hot chocolate with your order!
Five stars aren’t enough. Absolutely, unbelievably untouchable on any scale. I’ll never visit this area without a stop here.
While the staff was extremely friendly the reality is youre paying premium quality prices for dive bar quality food.
Love this place so much. It’s a classic nyc dessert destination. That being said, since they have the resources to make 200$ fries it boggles my mind that it’s almost impossible to find any dairy free and or vegan options on the menu.Being recently diagnosed with a diary allergy I have not been able to return. You’d think it would be easy enough it add one dairyfree ice cream option to their menu…. It’s a bummer.Hopefully it I’ll come back to this place in the future if that add more allergy options. It would greatly expand their customer range.
Good food but pricey. If you order dessert with food, dessert will come out first... Yet the appetizers came out with the food. So chaotic.. Waited an hour to get the food.. If you do get the famous frozen hot chocolate drink, it reminded me of a malt.. If you are not a fan of malts, then pass. I had the veggie hamburger.. Paddy was soggy but good. Definitely not the best one Ive had. Everyone else enjoyed their meal but everything was overpriced. For example, Chicken curry with sliced almonds. $22...
The venue is lovely with a warm and upbeat kind of vibe. This was my second visit and had a consistent experience both times!
Having grown up in the neighborhood, this was one of my favorite places to go. It was magical. Unfortunately, in the past few years it has become over-populated and when open, there are lines around the corner to come in .Its not their fault... just the way things are headed with social media and its impact. Its no longer a local hangout, its a tourist destination.Im sure their menu offerings are still delicious, however Im not willing to wait an hour to find out.
Best. Sundae. Ever.Y’all it was SO good. Worth the money and walk. We got the humble pie sundae (might not be the name of it but the one with the piece of humble pie in it). It was HUGE and definitely shareable. They do charge a minimum per person of $12.50 so be prepared if you are planning to share it with someone. The sundae itself was $20 though. Such a cute place inside!! Very friendly staff and quick service.
The food and drinks were amazing. Excellent service, the hostess was very friendly. Will definitely be back!
We had to have the Tiffany of course. A magical & quaint place. We love that you all have reopened! Can’t wait to visit again!
Great place to have a treat! Always recommend their peanut butter frozen hot chocolate. Plan on waiting for a table, especially if you are there during a normal mealtime. Smaller parties work best.
Serendipity is whimsical. Great selection of scrumptious cakes and delicious ice creams that look like artwork. Desserts heaven. Having fabulous dessert in fanciful Serendipity, incredible New York gem creates beautiful, lasting memories from mesmerizing Big 🍎. Serendipity cakes are the ultimate guilty pleasure. Portions are gigantic so is the price but good cake isn’t cheap and cheap cake isn’t good.
Fun place to visit. RESERVATIONS recommended. They also have an on line wait list.Min per person charge is $12, so be ready to spend some $$ when you go. The ice cream sundaes are big enough to share. Tried there famous frrrozen hot chocolate smores style, it was delicious and they melt the marshmallow at your table.
I love the frozen hot chocolate, highly recommended. The place is super nice, and has great attention!
The “frozen” hot chocolate drinks are the draw to this cafe, which has lines out the door (even if you have a reservation). The staff are courteous and patient, and will not shoo you away from a table even at peak times. The comfort food is good, and served in ample portions, although the sandwich choices are limited and dated. (No grilled chicken?)
The unicorn bliss sundae was amazing! And made our night after having some sushi! Highly recommend Serendipity 3!!
