This is a great little local hardware store. There is a good selection, and the salespeople are always very cheery and helpful. You can walk in with a problem and they will listen, and do their best to solve it for you. Of course, youre paying for convenience - prices are quite high and in most cases you can get whatever you walked in for at the Home Depot 11 blocks north for a much more reasonable price. Im glad Barneys is there, though, its saved my butt in a few situations.
Small hardware store in the west village, last family business in the area, good prices and best selection
Good to go👍🏿
Love them. Peter knows everything...literally everything.
Although they are in the area, and helpful in a pinch, Barneys Hardware prices are such that they are certainly making up for their high rent in their prices.$30 dollars for a pack of 18guage 1 1/4 brads/nails,when they retail in all big box home improvement centers, AND, local hardware stores NOT in Manhattan for $16-$18 for same brand and quantity. This not the first time, when working in the area, that a visit to Barneys resulted in doubled prices for anything. Neighborhood residents must enjoy overpaying, and being taken advantage of, but we professional contractors do not. Buyers beware!Neighborhood folks have a choice, especially since there is a big box center on 23rd street in that area! (The....orange one) Where one does not have to be subjected to price gouging! Shop smart, and not at Barneys Hardware.
This is the best little local hardware store! Truly family owned and operated, they are always really helpful and have everything Ive ever needed there. As an added bonus, they will rent small tools, ladders, etc for cheap, and are even available to do handyman tasks in your apartment! Ive had them install light fixtures, fix a broken door, etc. I much prefer this shop to the one across the street. So happy to have them in the neighborhood.
Great store! Good selection, reasonably priced but best of all, the service there is outstanding. Nice staff I have ever seen in any hardware store. Personable, friendly and very knowledgeable.
Barneys Hardware Store is exceptional. When you walk in the door they greet you and help you with whatever you need. There have been so many times when I walked in certain I needed an expensive tool and they helped me find a cheaper solution. Theyre the absolute best. I hope they never go out of business!!!!
I love this local hardware store... The gentleman there is like MacGyver genius. Any problem or situation, he like solves it in less than 5min and charges fair price. I absolutely cannot go anywhere else. And the key copies are always exact and you know what I mean when you’ve been to other hardware-key copying places where they just miss a small length of teeth and you are in a nightmare jam.A real gem and as a Nyer that means so much
Nice and friendly! Great service! If you have a question they have the answer! They carry everything you could ever need! Family owned small business. BEST HARDWARE STORE IN NYC!!!
Great store
This is a great place, very helpful, I love that it is a small business in my neighborhood so always try to go there first. Today I brought in a broken metal table, they hooked me up with a welder and voila, good as new at a fair price.
Lovely, local business. Extremely helpful, knowledgeable, fast, friendly, and hilarious - NYC styleTOTALLY beats Home DepotI love supporting GOOD and efficient home businesses, especially in the heart of Greenwich village
One of the best hardware stores in Manhattan. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff.
Reasonable prices and help finding what you need. Quick in and quick out.
I never leave reviews. I give Barneys all the stars. I went here a week ago having just come from urgent care on 13th (never go there, by the way). I had a shard of metal lodged in my throat-no, I have no idea how it got there. I was turned away by the nurses at urgent care because they claimed they could not see the obtrusion-which was odd as I could see it, as could my coworker who also looked down my throat before I went to urgent care. I have photos I took on my phone, nurse still did not seem to believe me and even wanted to swab me for strep. $70 gone & stress levels at about an 8, I went to Barneys looking for a magnet in a last ditch effort to try and coax out whatever was in my throat. The next stop would have been the ER, as the nurse had recommended. Knowing how much an ER visit would cost (as well as the X-rays the nurse said I would need), I decided to stop at the hardware store first. Best decision I could have made. Not only did the guys here give me a magnet to try my hair-brained idea, they also all wanted to see said object that was causing me trouble. After shining a light down my throat not only did they see what I was talking about, they lent me some tweezers and let me use their restroom where I pulled it out myself. And it didnt cost me a dime. These folks are living proof that humanity isnt quite doomed yet. Need you some keys made, a roll of electrical tape, some nails, or some medical advice, go to Barneys. Support this business, these are good people who know what the hell they are doing. Thank you.
Please update store hours. It’s closed.

Always helpful. Always friendly.
Hreat place to find and fix your projects!
Called and asked time they closed, told them I was on the way and was a few blocks away. Arrived 5 min early but was already locked up and closed. Home Depot from now on.
Not a discount store, prices arent low but when it saves you a 10 block walk an extra $1 is worth it, shop local!
Great!
Anything you need is here!!!
