Excellent food but poor customer service and that’s the only reason for the missing star for a 5-star review. I had the pernil with yucca and a side of rice and beans and it was absolutely delicious. The portions are very generous and the place is nice. The wait staff are just not very friendly or attentive and I think that’s the only thing missing.
Great food! I have been coming here for years. The food is wonderful especially the empanadas! I highly suggest the oxtail empanadas for sure. The sangria was just ok. The space is a bit cramped. Service was so slow and not quite the right attitude. Come here for the food not the service. Check it out for yourself
FOOD [5/5]: It was nearly dinner time but I was craving breakfast, so I got the omelette with spinach, mushroom and onion. Overall a simple dish but so very tasty! The home fries really hit the spot. I also ordered a tres leches to go which was fantastic as well - the mango was a great touch.SERVICE [4/5]: Service was good - no issues with being seated and my dishes were brought out pretty quickly after I ordered. The only issue was that it did take some time to actually place my order.VIBE [5/5]: The entrance is inviting and definitely shows off some Cuban-inspired design. People passing by were constantly pausing to snap a picture or glance at the menu. Outdoor seating is very cozy and quite private with the plant walls.
We had to wait over an hour to eat here. It was completely worth the wait. They are great with social distancing and only have four tables in an outdoor area. Service was fast and friendly. Food was amazing. I had the Cuban sandwich with yucca fries. Sandwich was crispy on the outside, flavorful inside. The oxtail empanada was also delicious. I wish the nachos came with more chips, but the flavor was there. I want to go back just to have this food it was that good. Completely recommend and can’t wait to return!
It was ok, a normal place. The flavor of the dish Churrasco was good but the steak was over cooked first time (they recommended medium and I ordered medium.) eventually it came out better the second time. My friend found a piece of bone in her dish Arroz con pollo and almost ate it. Fortunately nothing happened but they should be more careful about their food!
Best Cubano I have ever had, the yucca dries were perfect. The food here is high quality and you can tell that they care deeply about serving a great meal at a decent price.
I was waiting for family members dental appt on 12th Ave and I was hungry. Pulled out Google maps and I was actually walking to another establishment when Coppelia caught my attention. Thinking it was Italian, to my surprise is was latino (Cuban based) cuisine. The locale inviting; clean and neat. The staff were friendly and super attentive. The AC was blowing artic cold so I sat outside. I ordered the Ropa Vieja and I was not disappointed. The black beans were good as well. Good place to have some Spanish comfort food. I will be back to try the drinks. Good food and good service. Finally. Go, youll enjoy it.
Amazing food and drinks. Great place for a good, late night meal.
We were sat in a cold area by the entrance of their outdoor dining and it was cold 🥶 however our waitress did warn us. That being said the service was good and the food was very tasty especially the Cheese Quesadilla (although I was a little let down it didn’t come with sour cream), Crispy Chicken sandwich and Skirt Steak main course. All of which were decently priced and very delicious. The Mango Mojito was tasty and very strong 💪. Was not that into the Chocolate Chip cookie or the Chicken Soup. Overall great experience and very cute place. I’ll be back!
Our favorite place in NYC. Got introduced to this place by a friend and ended up loving it so much we had our wedding lunch here a few months later. Since then we always have dates nights ( and day dates) here, bring our families and friends here and the staff has become our family at this point. We love them so dearly. And the food, oh the food. And the drinks. The margarita. Top notched. Everything and everyone here is 1000 percent amazing. We love you coppelia family !!
Cutest Cuban diner in downtown! My Latin American friend recommended this place so I knew from the beginning this is legitimate. We ordered Ropa Vieja which is shredded beef stew with rice and beans with sweet plantains. The potion is huge and I didn’t need to eat anything afterwards.Place is open 24/7 so good for breakfast or late night stop as well. Service was very friendly too. I would definitely go back to try different things
Service was nice and friendly. Atmosphere was nice and cozy. It was really cold which was nice at first cause it was hot out but too much after a while made me wish I had a sweater to pull over. Food was okay, burger that I got med rare was more medium to well done but tasted okay. The beans that came with rice and beans did not have much flavor and were lukewarm/cold, almost like it came from a can, so good thing the shredded beef did.
I’ve been coming to Coppelia for soooo long and the food and service has always been outstanding!! Jenny the bartender and Pedro make you feel like you’re at your Tia’s house! When I came they were pretty busy and still managed to do everything with a smile!! I appreciate the friendly service and consistent delicious food at all hours!!
We were working near by and came in for breakfast, wow fantastic. I had an oxtail empanada and also ordered eggs with beef short rub, delicious. The espresso, fresh oh and service was spectacular. We will be back to try dinner and some alcoholic beverage.
Took more than an hour for them to prepare my order. Only go there if you have 3-4 hours to spare. NEVER go there for lunch on a workday
This Latin/Cuban eatery in Chelsea offers good comfort food and an assortment of flavorful cocktails🍸!The Ropa Vieja is simple but delicious. The chicken sandwich was fries perfectly and was balanced by a slaw and chipotle sauce that gave it a nice kick. These dishes were good but the STAR of the menu for me was the Lomo Saltado a Peruvian dish that made my mouth water just looking at it. A MUST try!!!
Food was okay but nothing to really write home about. We stopped by because we needed something close by and were hungry and figured why not, pics look good on Yelp of the mac and cheese. My grilled cheese was too heavy in grease and just didnt feel satisfying to finish. I also ordered a side of rice with my meal but they forgot about it and didnt bring it out till I was nearly done. The mac and cheese is good and has a bit of a kick to it.
This place never fails to impress, they have amazing prices for nyc and really great service. I come back here regularly for brunch and try new things every time.
I really wanted to give this place five star service. From the atmosphere, the customer service, attentiveness, and efficiency of this establishment is exceptional. I asked to wrap my delicious food to go and this is what they did. The guacamole was not separated from the chips and the left over bones from my oxtail was added to the oxtail that were not eaten. I’m so confused. Maybe it’s me, this isn’t five star service. Maybe they thought I was gonna eat it that night or maybe I could of checked before I left. I would think of if your provide FIVE star. Someone should of checked that this wasn’t a go to leave the restaurant. This was my birthday lunch my brother gave me and I would like to remember this a special time of my life. I just wanted to communicate about this. Hope this helps them be great from start to finished.
This was my second time at Coppelia. My first time was for brunch. And my experience was a 10/10. This time around we went for dinner. The food was 7/10 drinks 8/10 and service 3/10. Our waiter was a bit rude and had an attitude. My nephew got a hamburger and fries and we asked for ketchup and they kept bringing us some sort of spicy ketchup. And continued to say it was regular ketchup. Not sure if I will be going back.
First time back in over a year. It was great to see this gem shining! The team is great and energy they bring engages everyone. Patrons cheered for every birthday being celebrated. The energy was through the roof as everyone demonstrated their gratitude for togetherness!Reservations are not an option at this 24 hour diner. The wait is worth it!
Love this place!!! One of my favorites in NYC !!! Everything you get is great! My 2 favorites are lomo saltado and the arroz con pollo!! The Cuban sandwich is hands down the best Cuban Sammy in NYC.Can’t wait till they bring the onion rings back!!!-Coppelia loyal since ‘13
Amazing restaurant. My friends and I ordered their Caesar salad with steak. It was DELICIOUS. Definitely will be going back for more.
Amazing breakfast spot! The Hash de Costilla and the Oxtail (plantain dough) empanadas hit the spot. Get here!
Service amazing, food was good enough but small. Coffe delicious
Authentic, delicious and satisfying Cuban and Peruvian dishes. Especially enjoyed the Lomo Saltado and the Maduros. I want to go back and try much more of the enticing menu.
Good for small groups. I tried to come once on a Friday night with a huge group and we gave up quickly. But I came back on a Thursday with a party of three and we were seated right away. The drinks were great but not too strong. I got a few appetizers and samples my friends entrees. The Mac and chicharron was definitely a highlight for me. It was spicy, creamy, and the chicharron gave it a wonderful texture and flavor. The frito de mar was ok. Not bad, but maybe a bit over-battered. Based on other pictures I dont think this is the usual. I would order it again and give it a second chance. The rabo encendido (braised oxtail) was fall off the bone tender and very flavorful. The churrasco was bomb. We ordered it medium and I think maybe it was bit more medium well but I wasnt mad at it. Next time I will probably order this for myself. I also had the oxtail empanada and I dont have a picture of it because it wasnt pretty but the taste was fantastic.
One of my favorite hidden gems in Manhattan. Best empanadas I’ve had and the staff is awesome.
Ive been coming here for years; service always above and beyond. We dine here once a week or every other week with the food always being consistent.Today was disappointing; its not the service teams fault necessarily. I understand there only being one server however, there is no need to take more tables. If the kitchen is overwhelmed and the service team is overwhelmed inform your guests there is a wait for food and drinks; or a longer wait to be seated. When issues with the food or drinks arose (undercooked etc.) There was a quickness for defensiveness. The food was great as always but it was a let down. Im sure it was an off day, every establishment has those. Hopefully the next dining experience will be better.
So good. Great vibe and service. GREAT FOOD!! Come here for sure.
Great Cuban food with friendly and attentive service. The food and flavors are excellent with plenty of options to choose from. The drinks are also excellent with some unique choices. Plan ahead as the place can be busy even on a weeknight and can be a bit noisy, but they work hard to keep the tables moving.
Loved this place pre-pandemic. Went for breakfast a few weeks ago and none of the dishes were that good. Was disappointed as it used to be a staple in our rotation. Hoping they get their groove back soon! We wont give up on them!
We stumbled upon this place through a Google search, called and decided to give it a try! I highly recommend this restaurant for many reasons! The staff is very friendly, the atmosphere is exciting with the late night hussle and bussle and the music playing, and the food is awesome! They are open 24 hrs and have a bar with the best specialty drinks and a late happy hour on Sunday and Monday. Dont miss this place!
One of my favorite restaurants in the city that I’ll always be coming back to. I’ve been coming here since 2018 and the food is always on point. It can get busy during the evenings but it’s well worth the wait. The hours are perfect if you’re out late at night and need something good to eat. I highly recommend!
I have been eating at this establishment for the last 10years n they deserve ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆Exclent service n reasonable priced food.I love ❤ Coppelia.
Food was good. Service was absolutely amazing
Really great food and staff. Shout out tonour waitress for the free shot
This is one of my favorite restaurants in all of NYC, dined here for years. Ive ordered nearly everything on the menu and have always loved every dish.
Coppelia is a well priced Cuban restaurant located in a vibrant New York neighborhood. The restaurant is casual and has a diner atmosphere with a small patio, bar, and small tables. The food is Cuban inspired and has a wide range of options, including shareable plates, sandwiches, and main course sized entrees. The food is delicious and very filling.
Great cuban food for a great price 9/10
I’m not even exaggerating this is the best food I’ve ever had in my life. For appetizers me and my group got the Mac & Chicarron and nachos and that was amazing. So flavorful. For my meal I got a regular cheese quesadilla and it was soooo good. I rarely leave reviews but I had to here
Amazing ropa vieja but vibe is off since pre-covid and its still mad expensive
Huevos Pericos (scrambled eggs) with beans and rice were spectacular. I have never tried the blue cornmeal pancakes before, but I am stealing the recipe!!!. LOL. Also, enjoyed buñuelos Me orejitas (cheese bread & mini palmiers) with our Cafe con Leche on national Coffee Day.The employees were all super nice!!!
Such an adorable restaurant with a fusion menu (kinda Cuban meets American breakfast meets something else?) I had Cuban eggs Benedict that were good, even though my egg was not poached correctly I give them credit for the superb hollandaise. I also had a chile relleno filled with quinoa, so that was new. The enchiladas suizas were so divine! And they make one of the best micheladas Ive ever had, so dont skip the cocktails here!!
Service not so good. The only thing that was quick was the check. We couldnt even get a second glass of tap water.
The service was great. Our server Karen was great! She exceeded our needs and provided great service. The food was great as well. Also the drinks were really good. Would definitely recommend this place.
Really good and fresh food. The lemon pancakes are really tasty 😋
Food is nice. Came here a week ago on a Sunday. Cocktails were $8. Restaurants were only allowed 35% capacity then. Now that things are getting busy and business are allowed more people they have increased the price to $12. Eating bread is soon forgotten. You try and support these business during tough times by eating local and they get greedy when things are back up. Disappointing.
No good service they have your food there and you waiting. And you take home cold food and the nasty talk to you
Horrible Im sick confined to my apt and the delivery guy refuses to delivery even in the instructions state it. Never have delivery from them every again..food is good if you eat at there location.
The staff here are SO FRIENDLY :) The drinks and food (especially the nachos or as my good friend said The Best Nachos in Town) were delicious AF. Thank you!
Excellent food. Nice ambiance.
Cuban family style diner, which is a great way to describe it as style can really be tacked on to any one of those other three words and it is a pretty accurate description. Cuban style food - sweet plantains were velvety and perfect, and the cubano was in dire need of toasting, pressing, decent pickle to filling ratio, flavor...family style - its too dark, possibly due to construction in the front at least, for it to feel anything like a place you hit up for greasy food after last call without or prior to the family...
A diverse menu of latin-fusion favorites elevate this self-described diner to trendy restaurant status. All of the flavor with none of the pretensions. The corn and cheese empanada is a delightful snack as are the poppable croquetas. Waffles and pancakes are available for the less adventurous, but there is something on the menu for everyone. I see repeat visits in my future.
Nice brunch menu.. wish my plate was bigger though. Couldve had two!.. this is a brunch portion though.
The food is delicious! Authentic Cuban cuisine, everything we ordered was very good. Chicken quesadilla is top, Guacamole very good. Margaritas just to die for! Very nice stuff, our waitress was just there whenever we needed and every worker of this place were just nice and made us feel like home. Must visit to warm up your soul after Covid! 🤗
A nice cozy spot with great service. The food was so freaking good.
Nice Cuban restaurant. Correct prices. Portion are not very big. The restaurant is not huge and can get crowded at peak hours. The food is good.
Amazing eggs benediction. The eggs were cooked perfectly.
This has always been a favorite restaurant of our work crew. Ive not ordered in years and today I was so delighted to report its as good as ever. The salmon filet with purple potatoes is out of this world. Seriously, how do they get the potatoes to that consistency, its magic.
