Went to this diner instead of my usual go to diner and I wasn’t disappointed. The staff was much friendlier and the food was better quality. Which brings better flavor. The portion was quite large. The vibe was totally chill and laid back. The food came out super quick and is very reasonably priced. I am very happy with my experience.
On our last day in New York City, we wanted to have a nice breakfast and after checking out Yelp, I came across Westway Diner. The reviews for me dont do this place justice because from the moment we walked in to the time we left, we felt appreciated. We were quickly seated and after perusing over the extensive menu, we decided on what to have. I went went the Waffles and bacon, my son went with Breakfast Omelette and my daughter had the Chicken tenders. I know that we all loved the food and the portions sizes were great.I was able to speak with the owner and he is a wonderful person who is passionate about Westway Diner. Not only does he believe in what he does but he puts the work in to make sure customers are happy and have a great experience. Yes, I recommend Westway Diner and if youre in the area, please drop in and show some appreciation.
Reasonably priced breakfast for New York. Staff was friendly but a little hard to understand....could have just been the masks. All the food was quite tasty...especially the homemade corn beef hash. Only thing that was disappointing was that the turkey bacon and beef sausage were both deep fried which made them dry but if were ever visiting again from Florida, we would come again.
Ordered pancakes there for delivery. The delivery guy left some kitkat wrapping in my food and tried to open my door. When called, the manager of the establishment denied the whole thing. Not my first bad experience with them actually, definitely a place to avoid. Who knows what that delivery guy put in my food
The place is okay, but everything about the place including the waiters are average.I didn’t see anything that worth another visit, and waiter’s definitely need to be better trained how be friendly. On top of that the only restaurant I saw that adds 18% tips for a very bad service. At the end the restaurant double charged by “mistake”.
(+) Great dîner vibe. Seated quickly. Quick service. Food came quickly. Decent portions. Alcoholic beverages options w/specials & full bar. Reasonable prices. Subway close by.(-) Limited breakfast options. Limited vegan/vegetarian options.
Delicious bagel with Lox and the works. Loved it. Greek salad was so so--iceburg lettuce, not the best feta. Staff us really friendly, good coffee refills. Seinfeld was imagined up here. What more do you want?
Delicious breakfast. Friendly and efficient staff. Diner is charming and spotless. Will go again .
We were greeted at the door by a wonderful man who made us feel like family. Extensive menu. I had lunch, she had breakfast and both were tasty and quick. Great service!
Great food, amazing service! Will for sure be back here. Thanks so much!
The food and coffee were delicious. Our server, a tall middle aged man was definitely on top of things. I commended him for his attentiveness.
Ive promised the kids breakfast for dinner and we got it big time! Great service, wonderful food and big portions. We’ll definitely go again on our NY vacation.
Excellent place. Wonderful salads and sandwiches, with prices to match. Fine service. Love it!
Food was great and the service was excellent. I liked the variety as it was great to please multiple people. My son had breakfast, husband shrimp skewers, myself a burger and my other son a chicken sandwich.
Our waitress wasnt super kind at all. I wanted to order more food, but before I could finish my order, she took my menu from me and never came back. The last time Id eaten here it was great, so I was hoping for a similar experience. The food was really good! Just not so much the service this time around.
I live the fiid and the atmosphere! The staff are super sweet!
Do not get the turkey bacon, it was air-fried dry. The breakfast potatoes were a smash from being called mashed potatoes. The traditional french toast was simply two pieces with a tap powdered sugar, no side fruit, or hot syrup. NOTHING!I nearly called the waiter every time I needed something and then when I got the bill hed already added an 18% tip ($10) to the bill without telling me. We were about to leave him a cash tip. Otherwise, the establishment was clean and the staff was very nice.
Westway is a Hells Kitchen staple. It is one of the closest things we have to comfort food in New York City. You know exactly what youre going to get, and its just what you want it to be. One of the best diners in NYC in my humble opinion.
The food is always fresh, service and ambiance is friendly and it is not noisy!
Good reasonably priced down to earth (but perfectly cooked) dinner fair. Great location after a show. Popular with theater performers and patrons alike. Good comes out quick and delicious. Great service and even has a beer, wine, and cocktail menu.Highly recommend.
The host maybe should be referred to as the obstacle. The wait staff was excellent (happily we had theatre tickets and had an hour for dinner for 6.The food was fine. Nothing more, nothing less.
Super quick service, at the moment they do require vaccination cards for eating in doors. Not much of a problem since they do offer outdoor seating. My only complaint is that they seem to be watering down the syrup. It was a runny mess when I poured them onto my waffles.
Friendly staff, quick service, generous portions, tasty food :)
Amazing diner with great food and friendly staff. Their outdoor seating is a great add on. Plenty of outdoor seating and indoor seating. Service is very fast and the food is delicious. Their fried chicken and waffles are AMAZING. The portion sizes are big and plentiful.
Great breakfast place. Delicious French toast. And try their breakfast sausage. Highly recommend
My experience here was quite good -- Staff was friendly, food was good. Me and my friend took to day drinking, to which I might add that the white russian was delicious. We sat outside and were quickly offered alternative seating when it began to drizzle. All in all, I had a fantastic first experience here. Highly recommended for a weekend brunch.
We LOVED this gem of a diner. We were visiting from Boston and needed a good lunch place with options for 3 older hungry kids. Food was delicious. We got salads, wrap, burger and chicken tenders. Food came out quick. My son said best tenders he has ever had! Loved my raspberry salad Service was amazing and waiter so nice! Highly recommend.
Best brunch we had in New York.Service is good and fast, food also comes fast after ordered. We had eggs with bacon/sausage and pancakes, it was delicious.Place is beautiful and clean.Check it out if you are looking for a good classic brunch. They also have sandwich, fruits and juices.Price is fair, the food quality is really good.
I loved my breakfast dish and mozzarella sticks! My husband didnt like his pasta, but he loved how fast the came out and the customer was great. Food was not too pricey.
Excellent food, helpful staff, and overall great experience.
Had the worst experience at this place while in NY. Hosting service is the worst. Food was tasteless. Avoid this place. You can find way better places for your money.
I ordered the Gyro burrito, it was huge, tasted Amazing and it came with a side of curly fries that were done just right. The staff, the food, the location, everything was way more than I could have expected! I cant wait to come back again.
We were pleasantly surprised by this diner. Their brunch mimosas are STRONG!!!! Service was pretty fast for how busy/crowded it was. The menu literally has something for everybody so you cant go wrong. Well probably go back again this weekend to try something else because the brunch items were that good
We were referred by Carlos at the Doubletree Hilton hotel and it was one of the best recommendations anyone made in New York.. The service was GREAT the people were so polite and very attentive. We love being able to sit in theoutdoor cafe portion of the restaurant If you visit NYC you must eat there.
This place is not bad. You gotta understand that they’re busy and for that I don’t judge them. But overall pretty solid spot. Pancakes with banana and strawberry were great!
The food and service was amazing! We all order different items on the menu and loved them all.
The birth place of Seinfield! We were seated very quickly and our order was delicious. The waiter wasnt so pleasant until we asked for the check. We asked if he could split it for us and he ripped it in two and said here ya go split check. We laughed so hard!
We came here twice in our 5 day stay. Service is amazing. We didnt have to ask for anything as the server was so attentive. Food was lovely. Pancakes light and fluffy, eggs cooked just how we asked. Corned beef hash was delicious and the French toast was great. Was one of the cheaper places to eat at too. Highly recommended
Great food and crazy street people. I love my city
This was the fastest I have ever had an meal come to the table after ordering! We ordered a few typical breakfasts: omelettes and such around noon and they were fairly busy. The food came to the table four (4!) minutes later! It was piping hot, the omelette was nicely browned (like how on earth did they manage that?) and I know it wasn’t pre-made or par-cooked since it was an unusual combo of items in it. And the kicker, it all tasted great and I appreciated that they didn’t over salt anything and allowed us to handle that end ourselves. Friendly, efficient service so much so that we went back again! In and out in under 30 minutes so we could get on with our adventures!
The food was just okay. Very popular place, but we found the omlets lacking taste
It was my first time there. I had breakfast. Fast friendly service very clean restaurant. Delicious hot food. I highly recommend it.
It is known that New York is famous for its diners and let it be known that Westway Diner is definitely one of the best! The service is quick and friendly to help you get seated and served in as little time as possible. The food is the real deal. This is the breakfast you have been looking for. If you are like me, it is hard to choose one thing on the menu, and this place won’t disappoint.Highly recommend this place!
Nice place nice people good atmosphere
Food was good and service was good. Only issue was nobody came to our table to check on use like other tables. Also for the price the food was worth it.
This was recommended to us by a hotel staff member as we were staying in Times Square. We were seated right away when we got there and the food comes out FAST. Great atmosphere and great service. We were in and out quick but not rushed out. As we were leaving there was a small wait but they seem to get people seated quickly. If you are in the area, you must check it out!
Easy food and clean. Open late so great for after bar bite.
It’s classic brunch spot. The food was okay as expected. The staff was kind too (I made a mistake ordering food, but he asked me to change a couple of times if I wanted). The reason why I give 4 star was..The food came late and also it was too crowded inside.(all staffs were too busy to walk and take orders) I guess they need to have more staffs in the kitchen and dining room during peak time.
Great diner with nice prices and tasty food. We have been there twice, liked everything we tried. Portions are big, so we could always share 1 for 2 (could share for 3 if there were 3 of us). Cheesecake in there is delicious and you get a great value for around 6$ if i am not mistaken. We ordered pasta with chicken and there were a lot of chicken and cheese in it (good thing). Liked Matzo balls soup there, first time I tried it and liked it!It is also located nearby Times Square and bus terminal and had always many of tables available when we went there.
Food was good but when I went to pay the guy at the register ripped me off. I paid in cash and he insisted that he gave me the correct change. He was a lier and CHEATED me out of 4.00. Watch the guy at the register. Totally ruined the experience. I hope it was worth it. I let him keep it and came home and posted this review. Con artist at the register. Sheesh….. who does that!
Awesome food! The penne a la vodka is so good add shrimp and thank me later. The employees are friendly. The banana split is perfection and the Belgium waffle is tasty! Thank you everyone. I definitely will be returning!
Loved it! Classic diner which is clean, beautiful with great service and great food. its my 3rd time here and I feel like Im going to come for some more. the coffee is great the food is even better and the service is remarkable. its a shame my sister didnt have the chance to eat here, she would love it
Just perfect for a quick breakfast. Good food, reasonable prices, quick service.
Walking along we noticed a lot of hustle and bustle going on. We decided to try out the place for breakfast. I must hand it to the coordination between the staff and how well working together just flowed. Breakfast, atmosphere, and service were awesome. We went back the following day again for breakfast.
Great Food and awesome customer service!!!! Great place for breakfast located near Times Square. And if you are from the south like we are, we love grits and they have them and no what they are doing, because they are cooked just right!!
A fantastic dinner thats been here forever. Great staff and decent dinner food. Full bar cocktails!
I read about this place and did a proper research. It was definitely worth the time. There a thousands of breakfast joints in Manhattan but this one is a true classic. I expected a queue to be seated and was not disappointed. Thankfully I was quickly accommodated so I can indulge in some proper blueberry pancakes with maple syrup. I was curious and in the mood for experimenting and ordered their eggs Benedict to try. They were served at my table in the full glory of the classic recipe. A 20 minute walking trip not wasted. Highly recommended breakfast diner in the classic 50s style. Service was good and prices were very reasonable. Actually I expected to pay more.
Charlie at the westway diner made everything better! Thanks for the cocktail sauce!!! Terrific place, definite 5 stars!!! Thank you.
The Avellino chicken sandwich was delicious! Great combination with the sweet potato fries!
Way better than I expected. I was expecting a greasy spoon kind of experience. Not at all. Our waiter was kind, and patient and took great care of us. The food was fantastic. We skipped our planned dinner place so we could come back because breakfast was so delicious.
NYC classic dinner. Had the oatmeal. It was good!
I have never been served so quickly in my life. Sat, ordered and ate in less than han 45 minutes and the entire restaurant was full. Was only breakfast but the food was good.
Been coming here for years. They never failed to satisfy. Everything is always satisfactory or above!
Really great food. And the service was phenomenal. Try the chocolate chip pancakes!!!
Outstanding Customer Service Skills by Mr. Eduardo. Great choices for breakfast and well prepared. Kudos to the kitchen.
Went here for breakfast on a trip to NYC and would highly recommend. Food was amazing and staff was very friendly and welcoming.
This is just a good old fashioned diner. Amazing menu all around. Also, the staff is great.
The service was super efficient and our waiter was great. I forgot his name but he works and walks with a lot of urgency which is so good and looking a bit tiring. However my family and I went there, the wait time was only about 10-15 minutes which wasn’t too bad and completely understandable considering how good the restaurant is. I ordered the lumberjack breakfast which was delicious; I got eggs, pancakes and sausage with a cute size cup of orange juice. I wouldn’t definitely return!
