Back in the days I used to hate on City Diner because they used to put mint leaves in their salad. Recently I went there and had their home made veggie burger and OMG it has snatched the crown of best west side veggie burger!! (And Ive had a bunch) I am happily eating my words.

Staff were nice and friendly. Went in for the Moussaka since just came back from Greece. It was okay. It was lacking something and cant be compared to what they have in Greece. Pastrami was good. Its not like Katzs thats soft but it was more on the crunchy side, which was a n8ce change.

Stopped in Thanksgiving evening for some cheesecake and ice cream. The staff was great and the cheesecake was wonderful. The ice cream wasnt my personal favorite but this place is definitely worth a visit!!! Clean establishment and they take your temp and have you fill out some info for contact tracing since youre allowed to sit down. Cant wait to visit again!

I ordered a cheeseburger deluxe and it was fantastic. Everything from the serving size to the presentation was one of the best I had experienced (fries looked as homemade as you can get and the bun had nice grill marks,the taste itself was wonderful) and honestly worth every penny spent. This diner is a real hidden gem!

Corned beef hash & eggs with english muffin... was a really good brunch and classic diner food. Was a busy day, so service was a little slow but was in no rush!

Fraud alert. Do not order on dining apps. Placed an order at 7. They called to confirmed my order, then never delivered it. No cancelation, just straight theft. Please do not order on dining apps. Many restaurants in the area are honest.

Prices are reasonable and the food is actually quite good.

Poor service. Came for a breakfast. Didnt get to try the food. They set us down and made us wait for half an hour, without explaining, that the grill isnt functioning. No eggs, no toasts, no pancakes...... just served tea/coffe. After 30 minutes of wait, we were explained, they have a problem. No sorry, no apology for wasting our time. Just the bill for the coffee :-(((((. Never again.

CD is a great neighborhood spot. The food is delicious. The staff is great and very accommodating.

I haven’t eaten here regularly in about 3 years but I can say their chicken Caesar salad is no longer my favorite item. The dressing is no longer homemade and the lettuce was sad looking. This happened the last two times I ate here .I hope they change their chef or their ingredient list soon. I love this place and hate to see the quality go down .

Very good service from the Greek - American manager. In and out in 37 mins, which is what I needed at 2 AM. Food was salty, cheapish for NYC, but good. Heart attack on a plate, but what a way to go!

I must say this place is terribly popular in the neighbor hood(.Despite a sign .that says you cant use the bathroom . )The wait staff is very friendly and attentive if limited in English .Food is standard diner fare but lots of outdoor seating which is a plus.

This 24h diner is one of my favorite spots in the upper west side - they seat you quickly and the service is overall efficient and friendly. The prices have gone up recently but still reasonable and comparable to other diners in the area.

It was nice to dine in and staff was on point just as they were pre pandemic even though we had breakfast it was delicious

Food was super flavorful. Ill return family next time. It has a good feel to it.

Came here on a friday afternoon after work and got a seat outside fairly quick. The cheeseburger topped with bacon was delicious!!!! Havent had a burger that good in a long time. Milk shake was nice, not too thick. It was a bit on the pricey side but the food was definitely worth it. Will be visiting again!😁👍

Always a quiet place to sit later at night. Food is a little expensive, but the company of our highly competent host made up for that. Great place. Its almost like a mom and pop diner back home. Awesome place.

I always have soft spot for diner style restaurants with a lot of hearty menu choices. The menu was a bit overwhelming but they gave my requests fast once Ive decided. Very nice here

It’s is a shame that NYC is losing its great diners. They are depression era holdovers for locals to get a great “home” cooked meal. Not this place however. It’s only good for breakfast. Other than a hamburger, the food is just bad and expensive. Try French Roast on Broadway and 84th. Its much better and open from breakfast to late night dinner.

Great neighborhood diner, comparable prices to the rest of Manhattan. What I like best is the personal friendly service. They all know the regulars and greet you with a smile when you come. Food is good too, including gluten-free options.

The food here is pretty good and reasonably priced. They have fruit options which is great considering how absent it has been at other places. Overall I’d recommend.

It was great and food was great! Left wanting to come back to try a few things off the menu. Had the California burger I believe with sweet potato fries. Delicious!

Very good service, the best I have been to in New York

Been here 3 times so far and the service has always been good. Food is great. They will accommodate you if you arent satisfied with a particular order. Its a nice chill spot for late nights.

Always clean. Generous servings and the prices for the upper West side are very good.

The waitress Joan was excellent. Good comfort food in a classic New York diner. Perfect for an evening out with friends or alone.

Great tasting burger

Great NYC diner. Big, bustling, crowded with locals. Great for breakfast. Have the blueberry pancakes and ask for the real maple syrup, you wont be disappointed. The cinnamon apple French toast is great too. The wait staff is usually helpful and efficient although last time, our waitress seemed to be suffering from ADHD. Not to worry, she probably is no longer there.

Really good French Toast and beautiful decorations inside. Friendly waitstaff and delicious pastries. I would recommend it for sure.

I like their blueberry pancakes a lot. When I get take out they are always quick and it always arrives hot. Its a great diner to have in the neighborhood.

Typical diner in the city. The food is adequate, although a little expensive. I only had the fried calamari, which was nice and crisp and a very generous portion. If you need a quick bite to eat and enjoy familiar American food, this place works.

A real diner with basic fare. Polite wait staff. UWS ambiance. Comfortable surroundings but tight.

City Diner is a nice local diner to go to if your in the area. It has become a staple for me as a go to place because of the great quality of food and service. The waiters and waitresses are always polite and work quickly. As well as the food which always arrives busy except for when its extremely busy. There normally very busy from 10am-1pm on the weekends which can make it very hard to get a table sometimes. But overall if your in the neighborhood check it out, its a good place.

Great food. Love the burgers. Could just stare at the desserts all day. Take out preferred but sitting in is just as pleasurable. A laid back place but they take good care of you.

First night in NYC, dined here, very close around Broadway, conveniently near our hotel. Service is very hospitable and friendly. And food is delish!

The food is always good, and the service is excellent. Very fast if youre in a hurry for a good breakfast. Sometimes the coffee is a little burnt, but still drinkable.

45 MINUTE SITTING, FAST SERVICE

I really like the diner experience and as that goes this is a good one. Youre not rushed. Nice menu variety with ole time favorites and healthy options. I didnt give it 5 stars because the specials they offer are nothing special.

Nice art deco comfortable diner atmosphere. But the food was really disappointing. And quite expensive! $7 for a shake? It was small and yet I still couldnt finish it because it was so flavorless. Basically institutional quality food at high end prices.

Good food and great service. They accommodated a very specific request which I didn’t see on the menu just for my hard to please 1.5 yo. There’s also a changing table available in the lady’s room. The restroom space was clean and decent sized. I would have felt comfortable changing my kid in there if there were a need.

The Burgers deluxe with fries and onion were Hearty Juicy and satisfying. The Vanilla. Egg Creams were light just sweet enough and carbonated right.

Great diner, super friendly, old world super courteous service, the food was excellent, the cream of broccoli was excellent, so was the salmon. The complimentary bread that came first was a little on the dry side, perhaps its from early morning, or less desirable from the day before, but thats a very minor oversight that can be corrected effortlessly, so no need to take stars off for that. Loved it, will return.

City Diner is a favorite in our house. I feel horrible about how I talked to one of the managers after there was a misunderstanding on my part for an order. I truly appreciate the top notch from the pick up and delivery crew. I’m really sorry for how I made you feel in the moment - but thank you for making it right. Even when you didn’t need to.

Food is always bomb and I love the vibe. Open 24 hours so you can go there anytime and get a quality meal for a good price. Highly recommend seeing it for yourself.

Nice outdoor diner ecperience.

Ive been coming here for YEARS. Since I was in middle school. Best burger Ive ever had. Their milkshakes are to DIE for, thick and rich. Its a tradition for my friends and i to go every once in a while!

An old school decorum which I thought was a hit. Ordered med-done stake which was brick hard and brittle. Waiter wasnt bad at all just that someone messed up. Kids food was teriyaki chicken dry as the desert just a shame. I recommend lots of liquids when dining

Waiters with bad attitude. we were waitingfor another person to arrive, once he did, we couldnt get service, when the guy came over, one person ordered and he started to walk away?!? As we were finishing up near the dinnertime the waiter came over and asked if we were finished, we said yes and his uncalled for, obnoxious reply was good we the need the table. Seriously. too many good diners in town to put up with that

City limits does a great job of doing everything above par.Don’t expect this place to be cheap though, then again, you pay what you get for. Recommended.
