Christina Tosis Milk bar has some signature creations like cereal ice cream and milk pie which are worth trying for a nostalgic experience but overall its a pretty over hyped place. The desserts are bit expensive and overly sweet. Tried their strawberry shortcake which was too frosting and jam heavy, and didnt have any real good flavors. If you have a serious sweet tooth & like classic American desserts & birthday cake, youll probably love Milk bar. But if you prefer European style lighter desserts, this place isnt for you.
I was already full when I came here, but I had to try several things. No regrets. We got a cup of soft serve: cereal milk and milk bar pie twist with cornflake crunch topping. We also had to get a slice of the milk bar pie. Toshi was nice enough to let us try a bite of his corn cookie too.Everything was great. It was some of the best soft serve Ive had. The corn cookie was amazing. It was like a sweet cornbread cookie and was very unique. I dont even have words to describe how much I loved the milk bar pie. Just get a slice—you wont regret it.Its a small store. Theres a few seats but not many. We stood and enjoyed our treats because it was freezing outside. There are many locations and youll want to make sure to stop at one while in NYC.
This place exists just to be posted on instagram. The baked goods are dry and overly-sweet. The one redeeming item is the gluten free cake. Dont get me wrong, its not the best gluten free cake Ive had, just far from the worst.
Super cute interior design. I love all the bright pink tones, it really livens up the place and does make you feel like trying something and being adventurous about your choice.Ive been a few times to get the soft serve with cereal on top but havent ever seen a crowd. Probably once spring and summer starts, therell be more people getting their ice cream. Its delicious! Very milky if you like that type.
I want to thank all the employees who were working at Milk bar on the night of September 28th!! My tipsy self was so eager for a sweet treat for my birthday! I came in and with smiles and laughs i was given the infamous bday truffles, and on top of that they kindly gave me a SLICE of the also infamous birthday cake and they sung happy birthday to me!
Truly excellent cakes!! They deliver nationwide too. I live in Florida and still order often!
Milk bar has always been my favorite ice cream. I’m always here. But tonight was different. Two employees were so rude and I am not the type to cause a scene. I would avoid any confrontation. Teach these two some manners please. Jan. 3 6:20pm shift.
Comfortable milk bar✊lovely 😍
Extremely sweet! Didn’t like that
This place is pure heaven for my sweet tooth. Between us we tried the birthday cake, birthday cake truffles, crack pie, cereal milk ice cream, compose cookie, and malt chocolate milk shake!!! More calories that I dare to google but everything was absolutely delicious. We also picked up a signed copy of the cook book and some ingredients from the store to try a DIY at home
Absolutely love the Milk Bar! The treats are amazing. Don’t walk, run to try the crack pie and cereal milk ice cream today!
The staff behind the counter were on their phones the whole time! Didnt make me and my friend feel very welcomed and their desserts were way too sweet and not much else. Would not recommend!!
Maybe the worst customer service Ive ever experienced.
The wait was very long and it could take almost 45 minutes just to get through the door to order anything. Skip this place for other, better dessert place with shorter or no lines.
Too sweet
Very good baked goods and price. However the store is a bit cramped but thats NYC
Definitely some of the best cookies and flavor combos I’ve ever had. The blueberry was definitely my favorite but the chocolate was a very close second. Look forward to stopping in again when we are in town!
Only tried the soft serve. We got the cereal milk with crunch and the fruity pebbles with hot fudge. Fruity pebbles was amazing and tasted just like what I remember the cereal tasting like! The cereal milk was okay. The crunch was very salty so it was a constant battle in my mouth between the saltiness of the crunch and the mildness of the cereal milk. Not sure I would get it again.
Fast service......Very nice and in love with the classic truffles
Friendly staff and quick service. We came here on a Saturday night around 11pm and it was packed! Tried their new quake(?) which is like a concrete. I’ll get the strawberry and corn flavor next time - the birthday cake one had wayyyyyy too many sprinkles! We even requested no extra sprinkles other than those in the birthday cake truffles that were blended into the ice cream
Definitely not cheap made ice cream like Mac or Burger King . It taste like milk ! Which is yum and the toppings are creative and tasty but they should not be for charge. However the price of the cup is reasonable .
I was disappointed that every aspect of the experience was decidedly average. From the stock standard Instagram styling, to the service, but most disappointingly, the dessert. The soft serve was crystallized and not very creamy but the flavor was indeed like cereal milk!Even the famed cookies arent freshly made but instead mass produced and packaged for individual sale. Its not really worth the time, money or calories.
If you’re looking for good ice cream, don’t come here. Also clearly ordered a fruity milkshake but order was somehow mistakened for a salty crunchy soft serve. Give it a try if you like salty milk “ice cream” but cookies was pretty good.
I was so excited to try the famous birthday cake and it was so disappointing. It was dry and STALE. Also way too sugary. My throat hurt from the amount of sugar. It was also a slice of cake that was clearly sitting in the fridge for more than a day. It was a waste of $9.
Amongst all the ice cream options in this city it’s fun to find something like Milk Bar. Their cereal milk ice cream is exactly as described and who doesn’t love the way milk tastes after you’ve had some yummy cereal in there, I also tried their birthday cake milk shake. With sprinkles and just the right amount of cake batter it’s a tasty little treat and super satisfying. If you want something simple and delicious without all the crazy add ons pop in here
I had the cereal milk latte, soft serve and chocolate truffle. All were simply amazing! Would highly recommend going to this place for a desert or just coffee.
This place is really great. I saw it on television and had to go. Everything I tried was extremely sweet, and if thats your thing this is your place. Very happy I tried it.
After watch this store at Netflix I wanna come, and is just a gourmet place. For me and my friend we just love it!!
Ok ice cream but prepare to be tip shamed as they only accept credit cards and they force you to choose between a 15%, 20%, or higher tip. And they wont serve you until youve made your selection as everyone looks on. I always tip but dont like being forced to do it.
Will be coming back when am in the area again very nice and informative employees. All the delicious treats to try will be back with my sweet tooth.
One dude being a champ, serving 20 people. Three girls behind the wall yelling at each other and laughing.Well run establishment this is.Good cookies tho.
I tried the crack pie and the cake truffle. Both were delicious, but too sweet! They use way too much sugar in their recipe!
Soft serve cereal milk has become a favorite. Dont forget it with crunch. Crack pie is good too
What a profoundly terrible bake shop. Gone are the days of the tarte tatin and the croissant. Now is the future, where we eat garish and expensive baked goods that are an insult to bakers worldwide. Their staple dish, which I forgot the name because it was so forgettable, was a milk tart pie thing. You’ll know what it is because it’s the main thing people get there. Long story short, it’s a crusty packed disc of evaporated milk and sugar and was sweet beyond belief and pretty terrible. The place is also dark and feels like I wandered into a clown dungeon.
Friendly staff, one employee going out of his way to make my gfs birthday extra special. The truffles are exquisite and the pie is superb.
Meh. More hype than substance. I didnt think any of the flavors or products were especially impressive or even very good for that matter. Cookie was stale tasting, soft serve was bland. Mediocre, especially considering the prices.
So disappointed for the experience and sorry to say this: we where alone in the shop and asked for a slice of crack pie, a coffee and a cereal milk latte: the slice was missing until we solicit for it... ok... but it was almost frozen! as a result was not good. Is it intended to be served like this? Cereal milk was good, so the two stars
The cookies were fantastic, very pricey but worth it. Unfortunately what was terrible about this place was the staff. There was an attitude of disgust, disinterest and just plain negativity towards customer and product . Its a shame because Christina Tocci looks like a lovely person and to have that negativity and attitude associated with her product seems unfair to her. I will try another location but if I am met with the same attitude as WV, I will no longer be willing to spend my money at Milk Bar!
Went in for a quick taste of the famous crack pie. Me and the family bought one, taking a bite each. Nedless to say each of us ended up getting a slice each. Althought I rate this place very highly, its not for everyone. Its the kind of place you walk in, get your food, and either eat in the street, or take it home.
Only positive thing about the ice cream was the chocolate on top of it. My buddy was neither physically nor mentally capable to finish his shake. You win some, you lose some (in this case $7).
There was actual poop on the floor. I thought someone just smelled bad but no.. there was poop on the floor. I didnt buy anything. The staff handed me paper towels. I was like- youre handing me paper towels? Are you really about to wipe this glob of poop off your floor with just paper towels? They were nice staff just CLUELESS and EW POOP ON THE FLOOR
Usually go there for the soft serve, tonight I had the chocolate pretzel soft serve. I’m just leaving Lennox hill after suffering from food poisoning from them. The doctor said the vat probably hasn’t been cleaned in so long that bacteria developed.
I went here on a Thursday after 9pm and waited at least 45 minutes to get service because it was seriously understaffed. One single person was doing all of the work and a second worker popped out for a second but I had no idea what they were doing. Anyway, if youre craving Cereal Milk ice cream (like I was), youll wait and get it with a smile, but be prepared to wait!!
Drip coffee was good but lukewarm, which was a bit disappointing on this 20 degree day. They only have milk (no cream) for coffee. Cookies are really sweet.
Lovely place! I watched chefs table on Netflix and had to try it! I was so excited to try the cereal ice cream; but the staff seemed really emotionless and bored.
Very milk and kinda both sweet and salty ice cream.
I stopped in for a cappacino before heading to the bank. As I proceeded to count my coins together (the MTA loves to give coins as change) I was told they do not accept change as payment and they would not be able to serve me. It looks like they needed business since they were slow. I walked right across the street and spent my coins at Dunkin Donuts with no problem. I will not be back because my money isnt welcomed there. The MTA taught me that if you dont come with the correct money to MILK you are not a welcomed customer. My cash will be going to other stores in NYC. Maybe RSE Ventures should hear about this?
Did not know this place was card-only, and was yelled at after I pulled out some cash to pay. The girl working there was not polite or welcoming. The stuff is good but very overpriced.
The place is great, staff is super nice and helpfulOnly thing is that there isn’t much space to sit down and eat :(
The cereal milk soft serve was pristine, I recommend you try it with corn flakes, and sprinkles
IN LOVE with crack pie! Also love the cereal milk ice cream with cornflake topping and bday truffles!!
The food is overpriced, and it’s okay. Nothing special that you cannot make at home. The worker was rude at first, but then really nice. I don’t like how you can only pay with card too and you cannot pay with cash.
Nothing better than sweet cereal milk ice cream after a night out.
Fun little place, just not sure the food lives up to the hype, and the prices on some items are a little much.
Pretty cool little spot. Staff was friendly and informative (lots to learn about the menu). Was a little put off that the cookies were pre-packaged, but they were bangin. Had the cereal milk shake, it took some getting used to, but was pretty good. We got it with the crunchies. The knockout for us was the cookies. Pro-tip, no cash its a credit card only spot. Also, no public bathroom.
Delicious lactose-based treats without the wait from the big place around the corner. Get the crack pie.
The African American girl was the rudest person Ive ever seen. Why did she choose to work there if she doesnt like the job? I am a regular customer, dont think will be going back again.
Incredibly dense “milk quake” desserts - recommend the 12 oz size for sharing!
My roommate and I saw this show that featured this place and had to try the crack pie. It was great.
Bad customer service.
Get the crack pie. Dont look at the prices just pretend its normal and enjoy original delicious and above all consistent desserts.
The crack pie left me addicted 😂 soo good, great staff
Cereal milk soft served ice cream is 10/10
Really excited to go from the Netflix Original. really disappointing and overpriced :(
The chocolate ice cream is salty. Just a warm reminder.
Horrible...disgusting, overly sweet. No taste...just sugar...what do people see in this excuse for dessert...yuck!
Pure genius and big fan of the “card only” rule.
Milkshake was sour. Crack pie is the absolute worst. Me and my buddy threw out the milkshakes because they were so bad. 30 dollars wasted. ggnore
Birthday cake is amazing but the cereal milk ice cream is a pass
A bit too fancy for me, but tasty.
Milk was sour. 16$ down the drain. I had to throw my milkshake away because it tasted so bad.
Their cereal milk soft serve is to die for
Great place to get that sweet tooth fix
No cash, over priced, milkshake was mehh
They did not have a bar serving different milk
Cereal milk. Best ice cream ever created.
The milkshakes were bland and so sour was unable to finish it. This is shameful, take it off of Chefs Table. Crack pie was nothing special. Order someplace else
Closed 15 minutes early with no explanation. Just shut the machines down.
Ice cream is Gross.! And customer service sucks don’t go here fair warning ⚠️
She likes it.
