Ninth street Espresso was recommended by one of my friend who is extremely addicted to coffee. The ambiance was casual, relaxed and perfect to stay for a while in the afternoon.Their coffee was delicious and the best part was they have oat milk to choose from. I purchased two packs of their coffee bean which came with a cup of free coffee. The only thing I might be hesitant to visit again is the location, it was not easy for me to get there.
I’m only reviewing the cold brew, but based on it alone, you’re not going to be disappointed. Rich and chocolatey and very, very much perfect.
My one and only place for excellent espresso in the East Village. A pity that they dont offer more little treats (croissants etc) with it, but the drinks are worth it anyway.
+5 Stars: coffee and location-2 Stars: sour attitudeMaybe someone had a case of the Mondays?
Does the hiring criteria consist of hiring the most unpleasant baristas in NY? Because if it is, you have consistently succeeded. i try to avoid going back, but being that it’s around the corner i often give them another chance and every time i get attitude, burnt milk in my latte and the internal thought that i will never return.I wish i could give this place ZERO stars.
Agree with other reviews -- for some reason, the service at this location of Ninth Street is unpleasant / far below other locations, like the one a couple blocks away on Ave C
Havent decided which location I like better in the East Village but both are my favorites in the area. Pay with cash its cheaper!
Simple, straight-forward coffee shop where local artists can hang their work. Edited last review: I used to enjoy coming here until realizing that the staff here are snobbier than the location a few blocks away (where the staff are cool). Still good coffee though.
The coffee is overprice and ok. The guy that serves is also very rude
Good coffee and nice people
Coffee is okay. Staff comes off as pretentious and judgmental. I live next door so I find myself coming back. I regret it every time.
Quaint little space with amazing roasts.
Pretty let down given the recommendations I received for the place and reviews here. I thought the espresso was fine but really it was a pretty lackluster atmosphere and even though there were a couple other people sitting here with me, the barista seemed disinterested and distracted, even when new customers came in. With so much good coffee around, to come back to somewhere I really want to feel welcome and engage with someone excited to share the love of the bean
As an Australian travelling the USA, this place has coffee that is almost as good as home! I would recommend you come here if you’re staying in NYC.
Great staff. Wonderful vibe. Good coffee etc & you can meet some really nice, interesting people just sitting on the benches outside.
Just a great local coffee shop. Way more fairly priced than your chain coffee store. Baristas are helpful and kind. Not to mention the coffee is great too.
One of the best coffee shops in NYC!! Staff is very friendly and coffee is amazing! Love it!
A standard coffee shop offering the standard drinks at typical high New York City prices. This location is nothing to write home about although the coffee was pretty good. If you need some fuel to get through the morning, this is a good choice although there is nothing to distinguish it from the hundreds of other coffee shops in the area.
Went to this place to have a coffee and had my dog with me. I was told no dogs allowed so I grab my dog on my lap. Its not a place with seating at least when I went there. There was no chairs or tables inside, so obviously would be to go. I asked if I could grab and go. And the baristas refused to serve me pointing there was a line and I should go. (The line was not there when I arrived) If the coffee is good I don’t know. I am not interested in finding out. Please review your manners and treat people and animals with respect.
If you think this is a regular coffee shop, the clue is in the title. At first, I was wondering why there were coffee cups at a minuscule 3oz then realized they were just going on the espresso shot amount. My barista was cool and she sorted me out. Music was good. People in there had there heads down on laptops so no real true coffee community/culture which was a shame.
The espresso drinks here taste delicious, with no bitterness, and even the brewed coffee tastes fresh. The cookies are worth the trip alone, a cross between a jammy dodger and a pop tart. Small space with bar stools and counters for casual enjoyment, but not suited for long-term sitting. Very close to park to take your brew outdoors.
Amazing espresso. A bit pricey, but delicious. The layout of the shop is reminiscent of Italian coffee shops, with a long bar and little seating space. Go there if you want some great coffee before going on with your day.
Good espresso, consistently snotty and rude Why did I keep going back for more? They were close to my sons school. I would drop by once a month, just for latte and to see if the staff had decided to be nice.....nope
Decent coffee...extremely sarcastic and rude staff. Dont waste your time. Other great more welcoming cafes in the area.
One of the best coffee shops in NY. Never too crowded and great jazz ambiance make it a perfect place to escape the bustle of the city.
This is the Tenth Street location of Ninth Street Espresso. In good weather, buy your espresso here and drink it in the park across the street. In bad weather, go to their Ninth Street location and find a table. My favorite coffee in NYC.
Coffee and service is great but you guys need to replace those plastic straws with wooden stirrers!
Love the coffee and we get their grounds for our garden. Boy does our garden smell good ! But cant understand why only guys work there...where are the ladies ?
Great coffee! Incredibly unpleasent barista
Cold coffee was so smooth
This is a great grab and go coffee spot. The walls are always changing with different art and their coffee tastes a little like chocolate to me. Apparently its the dirt from Brazil! Cash only.
Proper coffee. Good service. Purely a coffee joint (with daily baked muffins).
My favorite coffee shop in the city. Great flat whites and iced coffee. Its not free but at that level of quality I wouldnt expect it to be.
Excellent coffee, professional staff. It’s been my favorite coffee shop during my stay in East Village.
Coffee - espresso is very good.
Nice, quiet little shop. They also have art displayed by children in Pre-K
For sure one of the best coffee in the neighborhood, even in NYC!
Best coffee Ive ever had. The music is good too
Great coffee but arrogant and judgmental. Quality coffee doesnt compensate for unkind staff in my books.
Generally acceptable in every way. Presentation of latte was nice.
Quick, easy service. Iced coffee was good.
If you like your morning coffee accompanied with a side of rudeness and a hint of sarcasm then you’ve come to the right place, enjoy!
Quick in and out to type coffee shop. Excellent coffee.
Very rude staff, unless that’s your thing don’t bother coming here.
The Marzocco coffee machine looked very fancy but the espresso I got was way too sour. Maybe they just had a bad day...
Great coffee, speedy service, and always nice.I wish there would have been more seating inside, but I guess thats not really the vibe they are going for.
The staff at this shop are less welcoming that the shop a block away, at Av C and 9th, and this branch has little space despite the chest-height counter and stools. The drinks are good, and the park is just outside: order your drink to go.
Just the best most consistently good espresso and cappuccinos.
Great coffee but the service is more hip than friendly
Favorite coffee in the world.
Was good there and nice place
Consistently amazing, love getting coffees from here.
Solid cappuccino but note baked goods here are light, as is the available seating.
Not a place to linger since there are (almost) no seats, but the coffee is great.
Drinks are OK staff : not welcoming and helpful at all. The dude at the counter had an attitude and refused to tell me what were the pastries ... If you dont like your job .. Leave
Consistently good espresso drinks.
Small homey place, excellent coffee
