This place is wonderful! I like the Cup design. The name is wonderful too. Gotan. The staff is very nice. They knew what I wanted. I got the tea. The tea is very good. Tribeca is a wonderful area. I took a picture of the Cup. Its simplistic design makes me never wanna think about Starbux again! Go Gotan! Ill be returning to this particular Gotan due to the supreme locale and friendly staff. With that. Im on the go. I didnt have time to actually sit with the ambiance but I assure you reader. Its there. Go Gotan. Last comment is the quality of the tea. Its strong! Yummers! See you soon.
It was fine. Im still confused why places that basically prepare what you ordered for you to pick up yourself suggest a 1, 2, or 3 dollar to on whats is already a 6 dollar coffee. But it was good coffee.
Amazing food, we got the Gotan breakfast and chia pudding- both were spectacular. Very nice staff, great location.
Great breakfast options, Gotan breakfast spread is delicious and so is the chicken shawarma platter. I would recommend switching the regular sourdough bread with their pita. It’s definitely a lavish yet affordable coffee shop!
The cashier in the morning gave me very unpleasant service. Not everyone knows that you have only one size for the coffee. I had no idea so tried to order a large iced coffee, he simply said, “We only have one size.” as keeping his eyes on the screen. Then he told me the price and moved to the other screen next to him right away without saying anything to get the next customer’s order. I tip most of times even for to go orders. But this time, I just couldn’t.
Great place for breakfast! I love their herb omelette sandwich. Coffee is great too and very nice people. It gets crowded around lunch time in weekdays and brunch time in weekends, but the service is efficiently fast! If you come here around 9am on a Sunday you’ll enjoy a pleasant atmosphere. It’s right at the Franklin subway stop in TriBeCa (1-red train).
Got the Gotan Breakfast and Avocado Feta Toast. I would recommend both but if you only can get one, get the Gotan Breakfast! It has a cucumber salad, roasted potatoes, 2 eggs, etc!
This isnt the first time Im getting breakfast at Gotan, I was here 6 months ago and enjoyed it so much that when I got back to NYC with my girlfriend I had to take her there. The food is great, the service is great and the coffee is excellent! If you wanna go to a place where it isnt too noizy Gotan is the place!
Amazing breakfast options . They have fresh juices of all kinds . I loved my breakfast bowl . Yea, it’s a small place and seating is limited but if you go early morning, it isn’t too crowded and you can enjoy your awesome breakfast in peace .
A dream cafe. Affordable, clean, great service, lots of seating and outlets. Get the herbed omelet sandwich.
If you’re tired of the same breakfast foods, gotan is a great way to change it up. The gotan breakfast has been a go to since 2018.
Excellent food and good ambiance. Perfect breakfast spot.
Very good coffee and friendly staff.
I’ve been coming here for a long time now, and it’s been such a great place, also during the pandemic. The staff are so friendly and nice and remember my name. The food is great and coffee is good! A tad pricey, but hey, it’s TriBeCa. Thanks for being open, Gotan, and for the service! I highly appreciate it!! 💕🙏💖
Herb omelette and lemonade were both nice
Have been addicted to this place since last year. I swear they must be doing vodoo with the food to keep me coming back. the avocado toast with egg and bacon is to die for...#mintlemonade will have you rethinking your homemade one. have been trying to recreate this dish for the past 3 months in my own home
20 minutes to get a sandwich and they didn’t care. Definitely not the most efficient place in the neighbourhood
Bustling coffee shop with your classic avocado options, lox bagels and other beet juices, but better prepared. They also have some more original dishes like a generous Fattoush (Mediterranean) salad, a Polish Kielbasa sausage sandwich, or a surprisingly good squash ricotta sandwich. Coffee is good and poured in nice cups. Might be hard to find a seat among the alas ubiquitous laptop crowd but worth waiting a bit. They bring the food to your table.
Great coffee ++ ultra delicious sandwiches and salads.
So happy they’re back!! Love
Good coffee. Friendly service.
Clean, amazing Gotan salad, tasty and fresh!
Delicious food. Thank you
I’m not sure about the high reviews. It’s a good clean place - over $50 for breakfast for 2 and no coffee refills. Found the baked goods dry and they don’t sell bagels separately even to add on the breakfast. And the chocolate croissant had one bite of chocolate in it - a whole lot of puff and no fluff. And you have to pay by card.Breakfast food was pretty tasty - 4 on that
Gotan is one of my friends favorite breakfast locations. She treated me to a chicken and bacon sandwich while she had the avocado toast (her favorite). The kitchen does not take substitutions that much, but the meal was absolutely delicious and very filling. My sandwich was in a baguette, which I usually oppose because they get so hard, but it turned out to be a good combination. We had a table outside and enjoyed the New York spring weather. The waiting staff was still paying attention to us and addressed our needs. It was just a very good time and I definitely intend to go back. So ENJOY!!
•Environmental friendliness: I would like to see more done to reduce waste, plastic, etc. They have glass cups for to stay orders, but organic and sustainably sources food and drink options would be nice too.•Ambiance: cool space. They space is pretty open with an industrial vibe in an old building, pretty drafty (so cold in spots and not in others), but generally good to have meetings or get some work done.•Service: fast and friendly.•Food and drink: good, but nothing special.•Value: run of the the mill, neither expensive or inexpensive.
Came for the avocado toast. It tasted great but the toast and avocado was too cold.
Food was good but pricey. Matcha latte was a bit milk-heavy but went well with my avocado feta smash. I expected a bit more from the plating. Mint was a nice touch with the feta, very fresh taste. Lots of tables of varying heights to work on, good place for a design meeting. Chill vibe. Restroom available for customers. Wood furniture created a good ambiance.
I have been coming here for five years. Every single time, I question why I come back. The food and the atmosphere are great. But there has never been a single day where I have had internet service greater than 1 MBPS. I have always told the manager that it could be improved to help them out, and for 5 years now they have been lying and saying that they will fix it. But that has never happened. Every excuse in the book has been made up from the concrete walls are too thick to...its not us its spectrum. I highly doubt that they cant place a router upstairs, or that the fastest internet service provider in New York cant get them more than 1 MBPS.If you intend to provide for internet so that people dont come here for that, dont provide it at all. otherwise people come here and buy coffee and food, only to sit down and be hugely disappointed but how poor it is.I walked 15 blocks today to give it one more shot. I wont walk one more block ever again.
One of the most underrated cafes in Tribeca! Gotan drip coffee is in my top three for the neighborhood.
Zero stars not even one. This placed has closed at 3 even before the pandemic so calm down. The owner is rude and cant handle and honest review. yuck.
This place is always packed which a great tell of how good the food is. Its always healthy, and the coffee is awesome. The only problem is that its nearly impossible to find a good spot during busy hours, but thats just Manhattan I guess. This also wouldnt necessarily be a place for a professional meeting as its pretty packed and loud. But if you want coffee or a casual lunch, this is the place to go.
Best breakfast egg sandwich, their spicy salsa it’s amazing.
Great spot. Location is excellent, service is very good, there is lots of seating, and there is a bathroom. The coffee is good to very good, but not great. The food is good to OK, but its consistent and interesting. This is just a nice, useful place that is super family friendly in a good location. Its the best thing in a multiple block radius and its not too expensive. Lots of room for kids, families, laptop users, etc.As a utility, neighborhood spot this place is great. Its not a destination but Im glad its there! Its a spot we go a surprising amount.
An excellent coffee shop in Tribeca with a large number of drink and food options. The prices are reasonable for Manhattan and the service was quick. Overall, Id recommend Gotan for the drinks and the breakfast offerings.
Great place for breakfast or lunch. We stopped in for a rest and a quick bite and ended up enjoying a pleasant sit down brunch. The menu is a little out of the norm and just what we like. We like to start off a Manhattan trek from here. Good place to park and you can rent a bike out front or use the bus stop right outside.
Hate being outside lol
Amazing food and coffee! Love the atmosphere too. Would highly recommend IF you are not looking to get work done on a computer. Their WiFi is absolutely terrible
When you climb out of the subway into Tribeca, this is the sort of coffee shop and lunch spot you hope and expect to find. Upscale yet casual, big open space. Delicious sandwiches and coffee. Its of course a little expensive but everything around here is. Just sit down and enjoy the vibe over a top-notch chicken sandwich and coffee.
Its Memorial Day weekend, so right after sitting down they informed me that they were closing in 15 minutes. It was nice and roomy though, the staff was extra friendly, and they let me take my Dirty Chai to go. Ill give an update once I get to stew in the atmosphere for at least an hour.
Good drinks, food is also good but small portions. Good place to work from but the light makes it difficult if you need to read.
Such a great place! The food is top-notch and great portion sizes. Some of my fav dishes include the chili, and the roasted chicken and bacon sandwich. The place itself is pretty big and a great study space. Perfect for brunch, lunch or grab-and-go.
I visited Gotan for the first time and ordered a roasted chicken bacon sandwich with fresh orange juice. The ambience was cool. It was calm and comfortable. First I ordered my food, received a number to take to my table, picked up my OJ, and sat down. The sandwich was brought to the table quickly. It was nicely presented with quinoa on the side. The sandwich is was so so. The bread was crisp which I liked. The bad part was the chicken. The chicken appeared to be he kind that comes already cut up in frozen bags. It was a mixture of dark and white meat which I did not like. It also had gooey parts and hard parts. I was expecting fresh roasted chicken pieces at least. I would not recommend this sandwich. Also the juice was laced with lots of sugar. It seemed diluted with water and sugar and not freshly squeezed pure OJ like most places in the TriBeCa area. Not sure if I will visit again even though i pass by this place almost everyday.
Great place for a coffee, a snack or breakfast. The menu is a little special but the food is excellent. The Gotan is very well located, very stylish and the crew is friendly. This is usually a 5 star rating, unfortunately I had to wait more than 20 minutes for my Espresso, which is too long, even for a trendy place like the Gotan. Good job!
It is absolutely appalling that to get a few drops of non-dairy milk in my drip coffee I have to pay $1. Being lactose intolerant is not a choice, and I should not have to pay for having an allergy. Even if I were not allergic this would feel like discrimination. Shame on you Gotan. You have lost my business.
This place is buzzing! Its very comfortable though if you can find a seat. Heard the food is good and the coffee is pretty good. Outlets galore and WiFi is available.
Excellent coffee, wonderful variety of modern Middle Eastern dishes, healthy and tasty sandwiches and of course sweet bakery.Everything is fresh!
Amazing place for breakfast, lunch or coffee. They have some delicious and unique menu items.
I like to come here when Im hungry and need to get some work done. I always get a grilled cheese and orange juice - theyre excellent! A bit pricey so I try to limit my visits. The service and great and the employees are very friendly.
LOVE!!! Great brunch/lunch spot that had yummy quick eats and really good lattes. It is pretty hipster in the best way. Also has free wifi! If I lived in NYC, would probably come here every day for lunch.
I was in the area and needed a place with wifi and outlets to charge my laptop and work, thats how I came across Gotan! It has more like a restaurant vibe than a cafe. The coffee was decent, good but nothing extraordinary. The ambience was a little too loud. The charging pads on the table also werent working. The place didnt vibe with me much but in general - they have plenty of seating, good wifi and a restroom which makes it a good spot to work/study out of.
Quality coffee in a bourgie spot. Everything is as expensive as youd expect from this sort of a joint but the coffee does measure up to the price point. The food here is similarly both excellent and marked up. The tuna avocado salad is delicious and the brisket sandwich is very indulgent. Their breakfast food is also good.Overall, good place to visit if you want to spend money and live luxuriously.
Nice space for working. Food and coffee are way over priced. $3.5 for a 10oz drip coffee and they won’t do refills even for a small fee...
Just had a very unpleasant experience at Gotan over an orange juice - essentially a battle of wills with staff ganging up to chastise me about carrying my drink to table at same time as food. Just don’t get why this place is popular and why systems are so rigid. Would recommend steering clear.
This place is offers delicious, reasonably priced lunch options. Big chain sandwich shop prices but with the character, individuality and better taste of a local cafe. I really enjoyed the brisket and grilled cheese sandwiches. We placed our order with Mike, who was super helpful and friendly.
Ever since I had a first date here about two years ago, Ive been coming back more times than I can count. The fear of frequenting a busy neighborhood spot like Gotan is running into certain people... like first dates that didnt work out. Luckily the person I was seeing lives pretty far from here so the risk, I calculated, was low. But even so, it was a risk I was willing to take given how much Gotan blew me away that first visit. The coffee is perfection, and the food is why you want to keep coming back. The menu is healthy for the most part, and I havent had anything that wasnt 100% delicious. That says something for someone whos been ordering from here so often. Even with something as basic as an avocado toast, Gotan manages to elevate it to a level that leaves you craving their particular rendition (thick, hearty slice of multigrain, with generous portion of avocado, drizzle of olive oil, grape tomatoes, and microgreens). Other notable items include the Scrambled Cheddar Biscuit (hot sauce FTW), Shakshuka (used to only be a weekend thing, but it became so popular I believe they started offering it on weekdays too), Tuna Avocado Poached Egg, and Fattoush salad. I have not tried any of the sandwiches yet.A word of warning about the crowd. Yes, on a normal weekend its usually a crowd. Like youll find yourself hovering like a hawk over peoples tables waiting for a spot to open up. That said, if you come before noon you have a good chance of finding a comfortable spot. There are also a lot of different types of seats (high bar, communal table, one booth), which is kind of nice. The sort of people that come here regularly tend to be the ones that bring their laptops, their athletic wear, or both.
The avocado toast with feta is not to be missed. Ill go out if my way for it. Often easy to find a seat and get a little work done.
Cant speak for their other options, but the Chicken & Bacon sandwich was legit. Also really enjoyed Iced Latte. And atmosphere was great especially to get work done.
What a cool place! Such a cool loft with great food! I will definitely be back.
This restaurant is a great quickie spot to pick up breakfast or lunch, but admittedly a little overpriced for what it is. If you’re gonna get anything though, choose the avocado toast, or the egg biscuit. They do a nice job with those.
The avocado toast and chia pudding are great. We stayed at Hilton Garden Inn so it was a 4 min walk from the hotel. The atmosphere is fantastic. Will come back again if we stay at a hotel nearby.
Loved the coffee and the atmosphere. Gotan is definitely one of my favourite places to sit in and work on my laptop. The staff are pleasant and the coffee is absolutely delightful! The WiFi is very decent too.
Brilliant little cafe named after the owners favourite band...Great coffee, good food (especially the Avocado toast) and good service. It is always a bit busy though, crowded out with coffee shop laptoppers.
Very busy cafe in Tribeca near Franklin street station. The food was tasty. Portion size was appropriate. Nothing extraordinary or out of the world stuff.
First time here and it may become my favourite coffee shop to work in. It only lacks a couch, because I believe all great coffee shops have a couch, but thats a philosophical difference. Great coffee, food looks good, lots of windows, good looking people. Plugs everywhere and fast internet. Now it just needs longer hours. Ill be back.
A phenomenal local coffee shop with great atmosphere and customer service! They sell much more than just coffee, so definitely check out their menu.
Gotan has become a central morning spot right in the heart of Tribeca; Drop-off moms going for a chat+bite, interviewers having coffee meetings, and tourists meeting up to jump off their downtown days. Good Coffee, and some surprise dishes for breakfast.
Obsessed with this place! Found it while looking for places to order lunch during a week-long event and enjoyed it so much that we ordered from there again. Regarding the delivery, everything was sent super quickly and wrapped really well. We tried one of the soups (dont remember which), the poached egg and tuna salad, the squash and ricotta sandwich and the ham and cheese sandwich, as well as the avocado and feta toast. Everything was AMAZING! The one thing about the avocado toast was that the crust of the bread was super hard to cut, so using a plastic knife was tough. Otherwise everything was fantastic. Would highly recommend!
Serendipitous find! Get the cheddar biscuit scramble and a oat milk mocha if you can find a communal seat. This is a coffee shop where many come alone to plug in their laptops and mingle. It is not ideal for large parties or brunch, but the coffee and food is the best weekend breakfast in the neighborhood.
Mint lemonade was delicious; they are currently serving Counter Culture beans. The cortado was excellent. In nice weather, there are outdoor tables with umbrellas. Theres also a lot of indoor seating but it can get overrun with laptops at peak times.
