So many lifelike dolls to choose from! You can pretty much customize each doll too! Yes it’s very expensive so be ready to pay up! A doll outfit is the cost of a regular size outfit! How the heck does that make sense. I like that they sell books about each toll and they tell a story. You can come here and explore the place! It’s nicely laid out. Check it out if you have young kids and in the Rockefeller Plaza area!
Thai place is amazing not only for kids but for the parents. There’s two levels. The lower level has a cafe (unfortunately, it was closed whileWe were there) They also had a doctors office and salon for for the dolls in which they let you bring your own doll. This was a dream come true for my 10yr old daughter! One other thing, the staff/employees are all very professional, courteous and extremely helpful. Great time overall, we I’ll definitely go back if we’re in NYC.
This is the new location on 51st Street. Easy to see. Parking on the street is available but it fills up fast especially at night and on the weekends. The Cafe is Downstairs in the Lower Level. Great friendly Staff. High prices for ok food so bring your credit cards. We will most likely be going back.
I don’t get it, but my little girl LOVES her doll and visiting here was like a pilgrimage. While the doll and accessories are on the expensive side, I was impressed by how reasonable the price was to get the doll’s hair ‘done’. My daughter aged 8 has loved her doll since she was 6 and she has a wonderful experience. And that was the most important thing. The rest of the family had a comfortable place to sit and rest while she explored. There was even a great basketball game for siblings to play with while others shop.
An unexpected visit! It was so sweet and a perfect way to celebrate our 6 year old!!! We were able to get a table right away. The service was wonderful. The food, pre-fixed, was okay, to be expected with a prefix meal. The Caesar salad was huge and delicious!!! The perfect way to celebrate your littles birthday!!!!! They even have little chairs for your dolls!!!!
So cute, I love coming here. My partner and I went for lunch since we have always loved it as kids and the staff was AMAZING with helping with an issue that arose. Always so friendly, every single staff member is friendly. It is clean and always cute little activities to do. Loved bringing my little cousins. I love that they added dolls with bright colored hair, and boy dolls, and also the bitty babies finally have neutral and boy clothes; I had suggested that a while back and I am so happy it exists now. Little cousin (6) is happy with her doll and other little cousin (2) had fun carrying his baby doll around the store. Also the displays of the historic dolls are amazing, my partner is a big history buff and she liked it. And I liked the dolls of the year display from previous years to now because as I said Ive been coming since I was tiny and missed seeing my dolls from 2005-ish in the store. I added a photo in my review of the two dolls of the year I have. Overall very cute, fun, clean, memorable. Its a family tradition now with the new kids and my partner and I keep coming to look around/have lunch and tea. Ok thanks bye!
We love American girl! We go a few times a year and always look forward to the trip☺ Other than it being an awesome experience to just visit the beautifully laid out doll paradise, the service is equally amazing! I highly recommend booking a reservation with a personal shopper. There is no extra charge and it is a fantastic experience! There is a beautifully decorated, private room to relax in while you wait for your shopper. Then the shopper asks what you are interested in to tailor your experience even better then takes you through the store to shop, while carrying your items! Next you get to go back to the private room, relax and look at all your items. When youre ready, your shopper checks you out right there at the private register! ☺ We have also used the curbside service during the pandemic and it has been equally wonderful! We always make it a fun girl day by getting lunch after at one of our favorite places in NYC! It is definitely worth the trip and creates memories for years to come!
Flagship store in NYC with all your American Girl doll products and services. You got money to burn and daughter(s)? Here is a place for your princess (or boy, trans, or fan of dolls grownups)
Top notch experience for my daughter on her birthday. She got her dolls hair professionally braided (really). Her friend got her doll fixed in the AG clinic (really). And we had a luncheon with her friends (that even included adult beverages...for the adults). Its expensive and totally excessive, but AG also presents a very positive image for young women and Im much happier supporting this company than some of their competitors, lol.
I brought my 10 year old last week for a shopping experience and small birthday lunch at the cafe. Shopping experience was good, however, at the cafe when seated the waitress shouted out as we were seated to my guests the costs I will be paying for them for the birthday even though at booking and in person reservation this was arranged. To add insult at the end after rushing us along our meal she informed us that ‘just in case, they already added the 18% tip to my bill, ‘just in case’ and wait for it… she wasn’t done she came back to add that ‘we were free to add even more than 18%’ I found this to be extremely tacky and ruined our experience with the kids. We would have already plan to include a tip and even more if the experience is good but thought we were insulted and racially profiled. We did not notice her doing that to the other tables. We are a family of professionals and just wanted to have a nice scaled down birthday for our daughter so she didn’t feel like missing out with everything happening this year. Unfortunately this will add to our memory of this unforgettable year. American Girl should do better and treat everyone with respect and adhere to its principles of seemingly accepting diversity and treating everyone equally and with respect. We travelled all the way from another state as my daughter is a huge fan but left feeling sad an disappointed.
I went to buy a gift for my daughter, sometimes its better to shop in person. The store is organized, nicely decorated and no loud music which always annoys me about big stores. Thanks Elisa for your help
AWESOME PLACE. MY 5 YEAR WAS IN AWE FOR HER BIRTHDAY! GREAT EXPERIENCE
I went 10+ years ago when they were next door and both my mom and I agree it was so much better and more magical there. Recently took my 5 yr old niece as she is now an avid Wellie Wisher. She had fun but we could feel the difference. The restaurant is in the basement and feels very dark and confined. They also used to put on a play with all the different girls and that was the best part for me growing up. Very said they moved locations and so much has changed.
Very cute place. It takes me back when I was 8 year old. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Great experience! Employees very helpful. We had an AG picked out with a bunch of accessories for my daughter (3)and the one employee showed us the difference between AG and WW which were smaller and easier for my daughter to handle. They gave us a new bag to hold all of our new purchases and took the other bag without blinking an eye to put out all away. She then helped us pick out new accessories for Camille. A+ service!
My daughter love American Girl, whenever there’s a birthday or it’s Christmas, a trip to American girl doll is a must. Great store
Amazing place, never been there before. We went on a Saturday and there were people there but it almost felt like you had the place to yourself. The salon is open but the restaurant is closed. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There was meter parking all over when I was there on Saturday. I made the mistake of parking way on the West Side. If you go during the week you will have to park on the street further away or in a garage. The meter parking during the week is for commercial vehicles.
We love America Girl. This is the biggest of the AG stores(of course, it’s NYC!)and it never disappoints. Always something new and wonderful staff. Tea party lunch is super fun!
6/12/21 This was everything I hoped for. We took our daughter on her birthday and she still has not stopped smiling. The staff gave her all the attention and was so so kind. It was the highlight for me to see her so happy and I appreciate AG staff for help making that happen
The store was everything my 10 year old dreams imagined it would be lol. A wonderful experience for young girls, I really think its worth it. The company has gone to great lengths over the last few years to embrace diversity and make girls feel seen and represented, no matter who they are. I am even more pleased with American Girl as an adult than I was as a kid.
Our daughter brought both of her dolls for our trip to NYC so we could have them with us for lunch at the bistro. What a fun and awesome experience! Food was delicious, staff was friendly and service was great!
We took our daughter there for the first time yesterday and she loved it! She got Rebecca and has none stopped played with her. I will also be getting her a bitty baby soon!
My grand children loved it.
My daughter loved it. The food was decent, service was great. The hair and nail salon for the doll as crazy as it sounds was fun and the stylist was great. They also gave my daughters doll a check up. Cost wasnt too crazy, it was what you would think.
Technically, my 7-year old daughter loved the place. For me, I was a huge store with really nice displays, designed to catch a childs attention, and have them imagine the dolls in their outfits in whatever scene. That imagination will cost around $110 for the doll and a book about him or her, and then even more for all the optional accessories made for it. The accessories are high quality, at least. :-)The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the dolls and accessories, and was very patient with my daughter, and helped her choose the perfect outfit for the perfect doll.
Such a beautiful store! Great service! A little girls dream!
It was a very nice experience, the place was really nice, clean and organized. The American dolls are beautiful. The store has everything you need for the dolls. They have a beautiful historian collection of American Girl dolls. Also, they just dont have girls dolls, they have babies, boys, and teens dolls. Moreover, it a 2 floor store with so much to do. You can spend hours in the store playing with the dolls and games.
So fun, love this store. They have an amazing selection and staff is super friendly. There are kiosks where you can design your own doll. They even have a boys line too!
Fun experience for my daughters. Getting hair and nails done matching the dolls is so much fun for them.
Drove 2 plus hours to get to the store my girls were so looking forward and store was closed for a fashion show…that’s so not fair!! Was bagging them to let me in since we came such a long way but was turned away!!
Childhood dreams came to life here. Love love love this place.
They have a unique product where they create entire backgrounds- including story books- for the dolls. We went over the holidays so it’s was quite busy but the lines moved quickly. They provided customer restrooms which is a big plus in Manhattan. Our only disappointment was the very limited product selection on-hand. They did offer free shipping to your house if you ordered from the store but of course the kids want to walk out with their stuff.
It had always been my daughters dream to go to THE American Girl Doll store in NYC. Needless to say, it didnt disappoint. She was so excited and loved exploring the entire store. The staff members were very friendly and the store was clean and adorably decorated. Great store and great memory for our little one.
This store is huge! And has everything American Girl! Im pretty sure my daughter would have rated it a 10. So, why only 4 stars? The place was empty - we were there for about 30 minutes and there were no sales people other than the cashiers. The only person we saw, other than a couple lone customers was the security guard. Also, although there are a few displays you can touch, I think AG expects you to know what you want, and just come in to buy it. It felt very sterile. Sort of like Toys-R-Us and it is clear how that worked out now! The one cashier that was talked to didnt seem to know much about the merchandise and wasnt really interested...In comparison, the Lego stores we went to have staff on the floor, who are engaged and happy to answer questions and show you new things. There are Legos available that are definitely for playing with... The AG store was more like a sterile museum, an ode to the doll.
My daughter had a great time here, and did not wanted to leave
My daughter loved this place😍
My daughter enjoyed picking a doll out for her birthday, i wish they made doll request on spot they take 6weeks to ship. But still does not take away from this beautiful location for little girls to enjoy
My daughter loves this place. The staff is also very helpful and friendly.
Nice place and people is very nice.
How do you not love the people of American girl? So friendly and helpful. Its been lifetime memories for my two.
A bit of a crowd but lines move fast.
Daughter loves it here for every reason. They have a cafe upstairs that is great to make a nice day with her. They always seem to have something my daughter likes. The dolls are quality and timeless. She has been into American Girl since she was 4 and Im sure will be for many more years.
2 story level store. With EVERYTHING you could ever want for your dolls. Yes it is pricey, but you are paying for quality products and youre likely to find something for every type of girl, outdoors, sports, arts, you name it. My daughter had the hardest time picking something. I dont know if it is new or not, but they also have boy dolls now.Must be fun to visit the store under non covid times because they have a lot of interactive displays that are currently closed, as well as a cafe.
My daughter went there for a session at the Doll Hair Salon. She had a great experience and both hairdressers were experts with kids. From time to time, groups were formed in front of the store to watch the salon. I also bought another doll for my daughter and checkout took a little longer than expected. Considering the store is mainly designed for kids, at least of their members could take advantage of a customer service training at Disney.
Excellent for you girl, you have a lot fun and the restaurant is great, the staff in all store was great too. but is not to good for your pocket😂😂😂
The different dolls, the dolls hospital & salon (lol) the place was just amazing thou the food was in bite size; it was delicious...
Really outstanding interior design . Good and lots of collection. For kids its best . I really love it . Employee face smily and friendly behave .
What a beautiful surprise !!!I was looking for a special place to take my 2,5 years old while we were in New York and American girl was recommended to me !I wasn’t sure at first and then, decided to go.This place is just unbelievable: 3 floors dedicated to dolls ! There’s even a hair salon ! Believe me or not, we literally spent 3 hours there and had to have lunch at their cafe/restaurant ... My daughter with her new doll installed at the table as well, on her high chair (yes, the doll has a high chair and a plate, a placemat and a glass) and the food was pretty good. My favorite being the chocolate mousse.I understand now that going to American girl is an experience ! You just don’t go there to buy a doll, you’re having a family moment to remember. See the pictures below
If youre an American Girl fan, or maybe your daughter is, this store can be a bit overwhelming. Not in a bad way though. If you dont know the dolls cost about $115 and their accessories are $25 and up. If you walk in intending to buy a doll youll pay about $175. There are smaller dolls for $60.
Wonderful experience! Alex our waiter and the dolls hairdresser was so kind and attentive! Tara the hairdresser was so knowledgeable in teaching out girls how to care for the dolls hair. The store is beautiful and kid friendly. Its was a day to remember.
Awesome new store! Lots of space to walk around! Cafe was Great! Salon for girls and for dolls to get different hair styles. Ear peircing for dolls as well. Check it out!I
Wow! My daughter had wanted to go for her birthday. We booked a brunch for her and 4 of her friends and their parents. I was dreading it, having never been there and not knowing what to expect. It was wonderful. We booked an early brunch, the food and staff were amazing. My husband I did not think that we were going to receive such delicious food for a “child’s” brunch. It was exceptional. I will go back. All the girls had a blast. They especially loved that they were given a special seat for their dolls to sit at the table and a place setting for them.Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
This was a great place, If I can rate it more I would Maria made my daughter birthday special and just to see my daughter walk out with a big smile in her face I was happy. Maria was great!!! I would recommend her to anyone that comes here. First time coming here with my daughter and wife and we was very satisfied thank you Maria and thank you american girl you have a great employee working here. Definitely will be coming here and asking for Maria again.
If you have few hundreds $ to spend bring your doghter to this stor.Very expensive but nice and unique.Theres nail and hair place for girl and doll
THE MOST AMAZING PLACE IN THE WORLD. A MAGIC PLACE THAT YOU MUST VISIT WITH YOUR CHILDREN.
My wife, daughter and I had a birthday lunch there, I was fab... the waiter was on point and the staff sang happy birthday to her. Really made her day
A little girls dream. Such a cute, albeit expensive, place with everything you can imagine for your AGD.
Amazing experience for the kids an adults!
Great place for kids to visit and buy (optional) beautiful dolls of over $100.
Granddaughters birthday surprise. She had a blast. Had a small issue but the AG Management made it right... They did the right thing
Enjoyed my visit. Helpful and friendly staff
Smaller than the original store. Lots of pinch points where customers sort of get stuck in a proverbial traffic jam. That said, we did make the visit during the typical busy holiday season so one would expect large crowds. However, we have experienced both stores and we do feel that the new store feels smaller, not as open, and less inviting.
Indoor is nice but parking is not cheap so you have to go park in a garage that are NOT cheap. American Girl Doll should have there own parking garage for free .
Every Little Girls dream. New location smaller than the original location. Cafe is small miss the vibrant colors and larger space. Seems overcrowded. American Girl is still every little girls dream to have one.
American Girl doll heaven. Lots of cool displays that you can touch and play with. You can even get your doll’s hair done!
What an amazing store!
Snuck in a side door, even though it was busy, my daughter knew what she wanted and we were in and out quick . Staff was friendly, store was clean :-)
Our first time to this place and its truly beautiful. We learned there used to be another store and I may have been there a zillion years ago so dont remember much about it except that I may have seen everything in pink! Anyway, we were there for a birthday celebration and also took the opportunity to check the store out thoroughly. Or fairly thoroughly. Store was bright, well laid out, and the displays were stellar. The food was delicious but I did feel the special factor of a birthday party and making the birthday child feel supreme did not really cut it. I dont know if it was just an off day, however that was what I felt was lacking and a shame. I also only saw one individual available to help people and answer questions on the store floor. Due to this, that one persons attention was being pulled in many directions. Our server/servers seemed to try hard and the details of the celebration are lovely. Concept is great, execution needs work. If your child was not initially into or did not care anything about American Girl Dolls, he/she will when they visit this store! That could be seen as a negative since the cost of items here is high. The dolls faces to me all look basically alike and there are no mixed doll that I could see. I was happy to see more varied and ethnic looking dolls in the bottom section, especially with the Wellie Wishers. I think the concept, store, and restaurant are all wonderful in concept but I would love to see dolls that look different, with different features, and having more varied ethnic representation. Thats just me, though, because of my background. Most children, girls, families will probably all enjoy this place immensely. Special experience and great concept. We did enjoy ourselves and the store is gorgeously done. ; )
I love coming here everytime we come to the city. My daughter got a new doll. The check out lady was wonderful. We also got my daughters hair done. That staff was wonderful. My daughters hair looked great. The only problem I had was when went for tea. We met our waiter and then never seen him again. Had to ask other staff as they passed for things we needed. Besides tea it was a wonderful day.
Went to this store with a friend and her daughter. The store was nice, however it made me feel sad when I thought about the business behind it, how girls get hooked up and make parents spend a fortune...
Amazed at the number of different American Girls there are! From different clothes to pets, to occupations, to hobbies! Paradise for a young lady! Deep pockets for Mom!
First visit to the new AG store. Its pretty good. Theyve added some features that are, IMO, pretty special. Things are laid out pretty well. The downer to me is the contemporary design.BUT - the dolls and experience blow you away even more. My two youngest grew up on AG. Weve been impressed with the brand since Day 1 - even before there was a store. And several AG dolls still occupy their rooms. Got daughters? Make this a highlight of your visit to Manhattan!I totally love the way they create a life for each doll - with histories and settings that actually teach kids something. All done through videos and books (Yes, books!!). it gives kids a chance to experience how others live. I also love the aspirational characters - athletes and astronauts, eg.New here (I think - at least I dont remember it in the old store) - a salon where girls can get done up. The hospital and help area is more visible and inviting. I notice reviewers kvetching about the cafe. Get over it. The old cafe wasnt exactly a 5 star experience, either. And its not done for our taste - just fyi.Anyway. Great brand. Great product. Great example of how a company can do something good and meaningful and still make a tide profit. The old store was a bit of a fairyland kind of feel. But then . . . it seems to be the trend in retail - clean (meaning sterile)
Massive store at Rockefeller center. Each staff member that I had encountered assisted me above and beyond. Recommendations but not pushy to load me with merchandise to buy. Social distancing was observed. Cashier counters were wiped down after every transaction. (I watched staff clean while waiting on line to pay.) Huge selection of well made dolls and accessories in stock. Neatly organized.
What an amazing place to visit! My daughter has been here numerous times and every time is better than the last. The staff is amazing and the layout is like Toys R Us for dolls.
This place is amazing. My daughter loved it! The layout is awesome for creating the perfect American girl!
It was so cool! It is really expensive tho for the doll and all the accessories and stuff so I got an outfit and headbands because the dolls are expensive, but it is so cool there is a cafe, doll hospital, doll ears piercing, hair salon for you and your doll to match, nails painted for you and your doll, and more!!!
I love that place! I love everything they have. Its just amazing how everything is cute and detailed 😍
A great place for a little girl to feel special on her birthday.
Very friendly and courteous staff. Wonderful place to visit even if your little one isnt as obsessed with the dolls as mine!
Decor were very nice tasty dry chicken.
Amazing experience!! Staff Super Helpful and Knowledgeable!! Special Shout Out an Thanks to Aaryiana, Nancy, Johnathan an all those that helped make our daughters 1st Experience Special!!
While I didnt shop in the store, I had a great time at their restaurant. We got the afternoon tea and all of the items were delicious. I would love to do it again.
A lot of fun for the kids, but expensive
Beautiful store, I went with my daughter at the opening 10am and all was ok
Great customer service and birthday girl couldnt get enough of it! She loved this store and so did her friends
My 6 year old had a personal shopping appointment here and she never stopped smiling - she smiled and shopped for an hour! Our personal shopper / tour guide was amazing and really did a great job with being patient and teaching her about the dolls - she ultimately picked a doll and accessories and set a date to return to visit the hair salon. Thank you for creating a great memory for my daughter.
