Great place for breakfast! Loved the waffle with strawberries and whipped cream that my son ate. They also have a great selection to choose from with eggs, grits, omelets to help make your morning great. Staff there is fun, fast and friendly which helped make the start to our day awesome. Come early or with time since it tends to be a popular place and will get crowded.Enjoy!
Stopped in on Saturday morning and was surprised that there was no wait for a table. The server was very pleasant and attentive. I really enjoyed the belgian waffle with strawberries, bananas, pecans. It was nicely plated but there was a bit too much whipped topping for me. The pancakes were hot and fluffy and the bacon was hot and crispy. I hadnt dined there in several years but it was a good visit.
We popped into this Cafe as it was close to our hotel. It was the best choice ever! The prices were so reasonable and the food was amazing! The red beans and rice were the best I have ever had. At this place you will never need to pick up a salt or pepper shaker. The waiter was super nice too. We went to a fancier restaurant later that evening and that food didnt even begin to be as good as Trolley Stop! This was just some darn good cooking. Do yourself a favor and eat here!
Waited 15 minutes to get our name on the waiting list. No line; just nobody would take our name. Waited another 15 minutes to be seated. Waited 15 minutes for someone to come to our table after we were seated.Ordered “The big Easy” with the eggs over medium. The eggs came out scrambled.(It seems as though they are just reopening after the Covid shutdown and they are short on help.)
This is a local breakfast and lunch spot on St Charles. The prices are really cheap. The service was good too. Left a good tip. Anyway they have trolley pics on the walls. Problem is theyre only open at select times. Check the schedule. But good food and service when they are. I ordered the liver and eggs with a side of bacon. SHRIMP omelette to go
Stopped in for a late morning brunch. Ordered the Fried Green Tomato BLT, it was amazing. Thick sliced fried green tomatoes paired with an amazing candied bacon. Definitely hit the spot before starting the day.
My companion and I love this place and travel there from the Westbank. However, we had the same waiter as our last visit and cant imagine how this guy keeps his job. Hes absolutely the worst waiter weve had in years anywhere. Dont want to pull the race card, but unless youre an attractive young woman of color, you can forget about getting food while its still hot or getting a coffee refill. Had to ask another server for our bill since our waiter was too busy flirting with the ladies at the table next to us to acknowledge us waving for our bill. He brought our hash browns after we had finished eating our meal and even then we had to ask more than once. Absolutely will not dine there again unless we can get a different server.
This place is great fast and friendly service. Great food. Harvey, who waited on us has been there for several years and keeps me coming back whoever Im in NOLA. Very entertaining and pleasant demeanor. Im Looking forward to my next visit.
We came to NOLA for the weekend, and after riding the trolley for 45 minutes without a destination, we got off for brunch at The Trolley Stop Cafe. In short, the food was great. I had the Banana Split Belgian Waffle, pictured. It was so good, though I was worried about being type 2 diabetic after eating it! My wife and kids had eggs, pancakes, bacon, etc., all very good. Katt did a great job serving us. Decor and ambiance were nice, too, much more of a nice place to stop than just for a late breakfast. Well worth a visit.
Grits were not seasoned, nor the eggs. But the catfish was GREAT!! The biscuit was good too. And our waitress was very sweet. Cute place.
Most of the wait staff had called in the morning we were there. July 4th. The 2 ladies working did an amazing job considering. Food was ok. Greasy spoon where all the food had the same flavor. Grease. Wouldve been good after a night in the French Quarter.
Food was good, customer service was great. I recommend the Red beans and rice.
Was excited to try after all we had heard about it and saw it on 24 hours to hell and back.Service was decent and friendly. Food however was lacking. I had brioche French toast (which did not look or taste like it) with scrambled eggs, bacon and hashbrowns. Hashbrowns were spicey and mushy except giant potato chunk, eggs were cold and bacon over done. My tiny human had French fries and they were good. Boyfriend haf eggs Benedict sauce bland muffin was chewy.
Good food, nice service, just wish this place was open more often.
When I went it was a one-man show but that man knew what he was doing food was good and you felt like you were home
Not fancy but a fun place. Fried catfish, eggs, grits and toasts for breakfast? Heck yea! And inexpensive. Plus, our wait staffer was fun, attentive and good at her job.
Im watching from nightmare Switzerland cooking in French at the moment, cant wait to come and take a look one day :)
The Trolley Stop Cafe used to be one of my favorite breakfast spots in New Orleans, until we discovered the nearby Silver Whistle Café. The positives are great prices, decent selection, and genuine, friendly service from experienced waitresses. It is frequented by both locals and tourists, alike. You won’t leave hungry, but it is more of a greasy spoon than fine dining.
Probably the best part was convenient parking. The fried potatoes were very good. Eggs cooked as requested and the grits were creamy and buttery but the link sausage was dry and almost tasteless. Butter patties served cold (AKA hard) and syrup served cold. Coffee was ok. Price was excellent so the value is good.
Yummy food and great staff. They were understaffed so had to wait but once we got in our food came out fast.
The server described the corned beef hash as made with shredded corned beef so this is what I ordered. It was basic, canned corned eef hash. The coffee was Luke warm at best. Our server wasnt very attentive. This place came highly recommended so needless to say, I was disappointed
Use to be their delivery driver owner is really cool but the their food is top notch
So good we went there twice on our vacation! Friendly and Fun staff, and as it was our first time in the city, it has now been added to our must do list every time we go back. Get some hashbrowns! Trust me!
I would not recommend the Trolley stop ever. I had the Red beans and rice. the rice was a pinkish. and the Beans was so SALTY. IF I HAD BLOOD PRESSURE PROBLEMS IT WOULD BE BECAUSE OF THE RED BEANS. THE SMOKE SAUSAGE WAS SPOILED. JUST HORRIBLE
This place...absolutely AMAZING! THE ambiance is very classy and displays pictures of the RTA or the local transit. They play non-offensive music. You can see people jiving to the music. You can tell its a pillar of the community. The food is great, especially the hash browns. If you ever visit New Orleans, the is a must visit! I will be back!
Although we never got to try the food, I wouldnt return just from how we were treated when we went this time. We waited for more than 5 minutes without anyone acknowledging we were there. When someone finally di, it was the same person that had walked by multiple times without saying anything. He was very rude, asked how many (there were 6 of us) and then ordered us outside. There was another couple there that had the same experience. They wanted to sit at the bar and he just said outside. Needless to say we left and went somewhere else and so did they.
Can I just say this place looks like it could be a hole in the wall but its the absolute cutest spot ever. Excellent service and amazing food. Ms. Dana is the best. Her hospitality was amazing, so much that we came back a second day😀! Thank you for making our stay in New Orleans as great as it was. We will back again.
Great place to eat breakfast. The staff is down to earth and friendly.
Great service from the person who waited on us also the food was good
Waiter was awesome he had everything right thank. You
Great breakfast, in a covid safe environment. My wife said the chicken and waffles was the best she ever had! Certainly a top moment on our trip here.
Off the beaten path... great food, great atmosphere, arrived early, space is large, but quickly full of happy eaters.
Quick service and great cheap food. The chicken waffles is delicious.... and the po boys are a great lighter option as well
Website says closes at 3. We walked in ar 1:15 to be yelled at they were no longer seating people. Not politely told yelled at with a horrible attitude. I tried to ask what else is in the area and the door was slammed in my face. If this is an indication of the service, they can keep everything about the place. From the 3 seconds I was in the building before the door was slammed on me it didnt smell clean anyhow.
Tasty breakfast, casual homey feel, and friendly service. Sometimes you dont need the frills, just straight forward homestyle food in a welcoming space. Best part is, for under $20 I can feed myself and my daughter, and give about an 18% tip. You cant beat when youre on a budget.
Eggs were under cooked and everything was overly salted, which is odd because I like salt.
One my favorite places to have breakfast while in New Orleans. Fast friendly service with great tasting food!
If I could give it a no star I would. Nice people working during COVID. But the worst food I’ve ever ate in NOLA ever.
Ive never been here before but as a business owner myself I do have to say the owners of this company handle customer feedback and criticism perfectly and put the customer first. Just reading the owners responses to review shows that they are committed to making there patrons content. I hope this business is succeeding during these hard times in 2020. Great job you guys keep up the good work. I will be stopping in if Im ever down there.
Great service and the food was amazing! Pancakes with sausage, bacon, eggs, grits and hashbrowns highly recommended!!!!
Great customer service. Pretty good food too. Not that much space but overall a great place and would come back again.
It’s been two decades since I was there and I never forgot how great the food was there. Just wanted to add my opinion two decades later.
Have always patronized and enjoyed the food!!
So, I dont really know what to say except to just say it. Have been in NOLA for a couple days now and have been told by a few locals to try this cafe which we did this morning. We were later in morning, almost lunch time so perhaps their breakfast items were dwindling although I believe their menu states breakfast all day. Both my husband and I ordered Eggs Benedict with grits. The presentation of this breakfast plate was very unappealing. Even the waitress appeared to look at me as if to say sorry upon service. Everything tasted extra salty and the grits were more like a scoop of mashed potatoes. The barely cooked eggs were plopped on an English muffin with a miniscule (and I mean miniscule) amount of gravy. We were just hungry enough to eat being it was almost noon but I cannot say I would ever try this restaurant again. I hope for other patrons that lunch and dinner items are much, much better. The only good thing was my cup of coffee tasted good. I almost felt it was some joke to play on the out of towners, to be honest... considering the recommendations we had received before that. Picture speaks for itself. 2 stars for good coffee and pretty attentive and consistent service for beverage refills.
Just watched you on Tv with Gordon Ramsay I believe the owner and head chef showed so much great potential! Routing for you from England ❤️
Have come every time we visiting NOLA. BEST breakfast around and serve all meals at all times of day.
Pork chop was salty but food was good customer service was Great.
Place is DIRTY! Needs some serious cleaning!
Nothing fancy, but for us, the perfect location for grabbing a great breakfast. Service has always been excellent, the food has been hot, well prepared and flavorful.
Update: in response to the owners answer to my review; How can you be so concerned about our experience when it was before Thanksgiving 2020 and you are just responding the end of February 2021? I dont believe that you are truly concerned at all or you would pay closer attention to your business and not take 3 months to notice a problem.Food was just so-so and the waitress was a bit unprofessional and rude. The coffee was not good. Only had one kind of creamer (half n half) and waitress got an attitude when I asked for French Vanilla or Hazlenut creamer. Must be a sore subject. To top it all off, the bill for 3 breakfasts was $70. Ridiculous. Will never go again. This is a bar pretending to be a restaurant.
I been going way before Hurricane Katrina and its a must everytime im home
Not clean, long wait, food wasnt good.
The order was not cooked as ordered, the chairs were like stuck to the floor and I was charged 15 for 2 slices of French toast and 2 slices of bacon !!!!
Trolly stop Cafe always bussin
Good food, down home feeling and great prices. Service isn’t the best, but most likely due to COVID. Local favorite, would come again.
OMG... 😋 Yum!!! Great Southern hospitality and awesome food too!
This place has been a home away from home for decades. Despite hurricanes, floods, and the ravages of time, the food and service never change. The fare is simple, diner style offerings, with a smattering of creole staples. If youre nice to the servers, they will entertain you with a chat, especially later at night.
Just watched 24hrs in Hell with Gordon Ramsey! Loved watching btw..wishing you all the very best success from England!!
