Clover Grille defines the title greasy spoon. This small 50s style diner serves breakfast 24 hours a day, along with burgers and sandwiches. We got breakfast, chicken fried steak, eggs and hash browns. Everything tasted of oil, and otherwise wasnt seasoned. Would not recommend, unless youre drunk, or have an iron stomach. The staff was friendly and professional, and the food came quickly. If you think Waffle House is good, youll probably dig Clover Grill. They are not currently accepting cash.
Tiny old school diner! Only 5 tables with a few stools at the counter. My waffles n onion rings were good. They make onion rings with beer batter which gave em a great crunch. Yes thats a lot of oil in the picture but it was clean oil. My friend said the place is greasy in a good way. My friend enjoyed his pork chop n eggs breakfast plate. Our server was very nice.
This place being open 24hrs is clutch!! a diner style breakfast place that’s a great stop for some food after a night out in the quarter. I had some hash browns, grits, and a waffle which was all pretty tasty! the staff worked super hard to stay on top of orders but they were very busy when I went (2am on Friday night), so it took a little longer to get food than I think it would’ve at a normal time. overall, i enjoyed it.
Basic breakfast, was good. Not much else open on the area on a Tuesday morning. If traveling to the French Quarter in New Orleans be aware that the majority of restaurants and shops dont open on Mondays and Tuesdays. Due to COVID and hurricane Ida there have been lots of businesses close there doors for good.
This place has always intrigued me especially after having walked by it hundreds of times during our trips to NOLA. On Sunday we finally stopped in and were not disappointed, great place for food that is affordable, tasty, and fast. I had the breakfast burger which includes bacon, crispy hash browns, and an egg on top of it. The moment I saw the cook slam the massive burger patty on the flat top I just knew that I had made the right choice. It was GREAT! My daughter had the chicken fried steak which I had a chance to taste and it was great, especially the white gravy. We will most definitely be back here during our future trips to New Orleans and thank you Edward for the great service.
This is a historic awesome place to eat in the quarter. I have been here hundreds of times over the past 25 years. Its a little different now than it used to be but its still a great place to go at 4am! Lol! Friendly staff and great food! Would recommend it to anyone looking for a late night meal!
We had the best time ever!!! The food was on point...big shout out to the cook. The cashier/waiter was from my hometown of Chicago.🥰😘😄. We had a ball!! It was like a straight Broadway performance happening inside of the restaurant. They were playing music from Motown and songs from the 70s - 80s and the entire restaurant including the staff all played a part. We had great food, great service and excellent singing and performing. This was something I had never experienced!!!! Of course I was the ring leader and videographer 😂😂😂 Chicago takes over NOLA...OH WHAT A FUNKY GOOD TIME!!!YOU MUST EAT A CLOVER GRILL YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!
Best burger I’ve had in a long time! The meat was well seasoned and delicious. Cooked perfectly, nice and juicy. The fries were perfect. Nice and thin, but not too thin. The service was great, prompt and super friendly. The atmosphere is lovely. Cute lil’ old times diner feel with a view of the grill from anywhere in the restaurant. Easy access from the French Quarter as it’s right off Bourbon st. Highly recommend.
I work in the quarter. I was intentionally dismissed by the staff. They seemed happy to have me gone when all I did was silently order food. I’ve been going to the clover for 10 years after workIt’s not what it was. The server was so rude and he was so proud to act that wayNever again, I work in a high volume room and will never send business that way again
I’ve lived in Nola for 5+ years and this is one of the only places on Bourbon I’ll go....Ok...so no joke this is one of the best hidden gems on Bourbon Street! Don’t waste your time with the pizza slices or other trash food on the strip - this spot is worth the walk. Their burgers are legit some of the best I’ve had.
Ive loved this place for years but recently the quality of both food and service is very inconsistent. Today not only was my server inattentive but the manager came in as soon as I got my food and put music on at such an ear splitting level that I had to leave before finishing.
We had a great experience here!! The food is cooked right in front of you, and it is delicious!! Everyone was super nice and attentive. We will return!!
Very simple delicious menu. Service is quick and very friendly. Old school diner, A must try while in New Orleans
Delicious. Everything was delicious. No leftovers. The Onion rings were handmade in front of us the whole man the batter was good. The burgers the chicken sandwich the fries everything cant complain about one thing
Perfect NOLA morning after food. The bacon, egg, and cheese is our go to sandwich after a long night of partaking in all the drinks. It’s cooked to order on a flat top grill with just enough butter to fry the eggs perfectly. The toast is brushed with Mayo and the cheese is melted just right. We love these both plain and with lettuce and tomato and a side of tots or fries.
Simple but tasty food at a great price for Bourbon Street. Cool 50s diner motif and good vibes all around
Reasonably priced, good customer service and music. Loved the breakfast.
Nice little place for breakfast or late night dinner. Open 24 hours very good food at extremely reasonable prices. We visited for breakfast and had a traditional 2 egg with meat, hashbrowns and toast. Are meal was very good and the service was great
Nasty dude behind the counter.. seem to lighten the attitude up after the meal.. right around tip time, how convenient.... Subpar food.
One of my favorite places!!! Fluffy eggs and perfect fries. What more could I ask for???? I tasted my friends food too, which was equally delicious! From this last weekend to years ago a great late night meal. Preventing hangovers all around the table. Super cool staff too!
No masks required that we could tell. Very rude. Dirty.
I have been coming here for close to 15 years. It is an absolute retro 1950s, pink tiled walls, hole-the-wall diner. That might be why it is so good. There are only about 5 tables and 10-12 bar stools. To me, the burgers are probably the best in NOLA. They are moist, juicy, large, filling, and they cook them on a flattop under a hubcap. The Chicken Fried Steak is also great. Omelets are large and extremely fluffy and great with the hash browns. The service is fairly quick, you see them cooking your food and servers are always nice, maybe rushed, but they are on top of things.Clover Grill is open 24 hours and they only take credit cards.
Busy! We found the burger delicious, the waffle delightful and the hash browns just right. Prices good for the area and quality of whats served. Staff was pleasant, lighthearted and hilarious. Love the atmosphere here! Will definitely come back around when we return!
As a local I love Clover Grill. But in times past it was known for having an attitude that was so much fun. The food is great but the attitude is gone.
Got seated and sat for 20 minutes without order taken and left. Food looked good though.
Open 24/7 best hamburger Ive had friendly people it is a landmark stop that is right there on bourbon Street very good place to just stop and take in some history
Excellent eggs & grits! Simple and delicious, what all breakfasts should be. Far better and faster than another breakfast place on the uptown side if Canal known by a family members name (without mentioning names!!)
Was a quant little diner and food was awesome!
For a small diner and I mean Corner Diner/Grill in the classic sense..This place is the best for a quick bite or late night breakfast. It was a pleasure to watch the small 3 person crew work like a well oiled machine. And with so many so called 24hr food spots dropping the ball because of running short staffing, its good the see the Clover Grill pulling it out for the save.Good work Guys
Great French Quarter diner. Very small and sometimes hard to get in.Typical, yet tasty diner food and a personable wait staff. They didnt have a problem with us sharing meals and ordering water as some places might be.My order wasnt exactly right but the waiter was very gracious and wanted to make it right. We also waited a bit too long for our check. I still definitely recommend this place if youve been out on Bourbon and you need some diner food!
Great service. Hamburger is one of the best I have had. Pie was fantastic. The walk down Bourbon is worth it. They have the best breakfast in the French Quarter.
A quintessential new orleans experience always here. Standard diner food, and breakfast served all day. Straight up solid food, and the employees are stand up. We signed in with vaxx papers, and sat down and I had a burger, my friend had breakfast. Always solid.
Really good food... open very late or all night!! Burgers are Great!! Even the toast was very yummy with the breakfast plate... definitely will be back !! 😋
Staff was wonderful, food was guick, delicious and reasonably priced. Perfect place to get a quick bite in the middle of the busyness of Bourbon Street.
Seriously excellent breakfast. When you first walk up to the place it looks like a simple little diner, and when you walk inside you realize your assessment is correct. It’s simply adorable. With wonderful people and great food. I highly recommend. We had the standard breakfast with sausage and eggs and toast and it was delicious, and their coffee was also great.
Very upbeat in a convenient location. Classic diner appeal. Cook makes wonderful grits. We tipped her aside from our servers tip.Social distancing is maintained here, so dont bring a big group. Its a small place but very nostalgic and cozy. You can dance, just not on the tables. Overall a great experience.
What a cozy 24/7 diner.Got hungry around midnight. Went to this diner and no wait. Very inexpensive place. Lots of choices on the menu. Got to try their new Breakfast Burger 🍔 Bun, patty, hash browns, egg, cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, pickles = deliciousness. No alcohol serve here. And parking is street parking pay to park if you drive around the corner is 2 hour free parking on the residential zone.
Miss April is a WHOLE delight. The food was perfect, very little wait (Friday at 8:30 am), amazing service. Wholly recommend.
Simple, delicious and inexpensive! Best burgers we have had in years. They do their thing quickly, and perfectly! Guy and Will are the best at what they do. 6 out of 5 stars!
RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL, AND YOU SHOULD FEAR FOR YOUR MENTAL AND PHYSICAL WELLBEING AROUND THEIR WAITRESS-The waitress (black woman with mid length black curly hair) could not have been more rude and disrespectful to put it nicely. This woman has zero respect for her patrons and is everything wrong with humanity today. We walked in and she rudely told us we had to wait outside so we did. Two tables walked out and we walked inside when she screamed at us like children telling us “I TOLD YOU TO WAIT OUTSIDE, GET OUT” when I treated her with the same respect she gave us and told her “why do you have to yell you doesn’t have to be a b* about it “she said “oh well now I definitely ain’t waiting on you” ….like I’d let her handle anything I’d consume after her bipolar mental breakdown. She is a complete emotionally disturbed person. Her supervisor should be appalled to have someone with her manners represent their business.
Old style greasy diner that was just... perfect! Its literally like going back in time. The sign says they serve the worlds best burger and one of the guys with us said he thought it was in his top two. Personally, I would go that far, but the burger was outstanding and well worth a visit to this pseudo-famous location. We came in and got a seat at the table, while many people sat at the counter. After the table was cleaned, our order was taken and we waited less than expected. The burgers were real patties they make at the location with their specialty seasoning which makes all the difference. We all had a side of French fries... that were a little hard, but they rounded out the nice diner experience we had here. Five stars because they met my expectations for this type of establishment perfectly.
Randomly found this place, best burger Ive ever had.
Outstanding had breakfast burger and biscuit and gravy great 24hr joint down Bourbon st.
We loved the staff and the breakfast was even better! The pricing was the same as our little town in Upper Michigan. The folks are wonderful, genuine and happy! Clean operation and youll be quite happy and satisfied upon visiting. Two thumbs up! Way Up!!
The food is decent, but the prices are outrageous. 50 dollars for two burgers and fries prepared by an ungloved cook....no thanks.
We visited this place multiple times on our trip to New Orleans and enjoyed almost everything we ordered. The biscuits with gravy is delicious and rich. The sandwiches and burger are very satisfying. Onion rings and tater tots were wonderfully crisp and well cooked on the inside. The waffle when we had it unfortunately lacked crisp. The omelette was a hit; fluffy and buttery .24hr opening times is a big plus and they were open all through Christmas too. Service is friendly and the atmosphere is retro and unpretentious. Prices are reasonable.
We’ve missed Clover Grill and when it opened again, we showed appreciation. The food did not disappoint, we were happy. Will go back again and again.
The food was Great, hot, and tasteful. The staff was kind, and helpful. Loved this cozy little diner.
Happened upon Clover Grill one night exploring Burbon Street. Very small space with limited seating. Place was pretty crowded after midnight and had a steady stream of customers. Ordered waffle & omelette... and bacon. Had to be one of the best omelettes Ive had in my life. So perfectly fluffy. Bacon was so sweet & grilled to perfection. Would definitely make this a regular stop when visiting NOLA again. 7/27/18
Love this place. Just damn good food
Waiter and chef were super friendly. Fluffiest/ best omelet I ever had. Biscuits and Gravy on point too. Go there after you hit Bourbon Street I promise you will not be disappointed
Took my family here as we were walking around the French Quarter on vacation. Its a pretty nice, little diner with a friendly staff and good food. Even though the waiter was swamped, he was still attentive and friendly.
Horrible people. On try 3 to eat here (avoiding big lines) it was nice and empty, but unfortunately the staff were super rude. Changes my order from lunch to just the coffee I ordered while thinking.If I had it to do over again.... Id go somewhere else. Anywhere else. Will I be back? Maybe if I see someone else on shift other than the lady in my photos.Advise; turn and run;
Fantastic omelet and very large and tasty wafles.
They were busy so it took quite awhile to put our order in, but all to her for was great!
Food is good. Staff is awesome.
I stopped in at Clover Grill the other night in search of a quick bite to counter act some of the indulgences of Bourbon St. The menu was perfect for the occasion. Breakfast items and your usual greasy spoon type of foods were offered. I split a burger and some hash browns with a friend. The burger was delicious. The seasoning was on point. The hash browns were crispy and tasty. The place had a chill vibe even though it was busy. My only complaint was the counter guy who was rude and impatient. I will visit again.
Friendly staff great food. Especially good to soak up your alcohol. Open 24/7!
Great little grill to get a great burger. Awesome staff. I bring all of my out of town friends to The Clover Grill when we come to the quarter. Brought my niece there from South Carolina when she was in town.
WACH OUT!! in this cash oly stablisment they take your card and charge it with twice the price you spend, when you notice they say not to worry they correct it, and they charge you double any way. BEsides that, dirty place no bathroom
Cool retro diner on Bourbon Street. Pricey for a hamburger, fries and Coke kind of place. Food was good but overpriced. Not many locals eat here.
Stopped in on a whim before heading back to the hotel. The smell of food is sooo good when you walk into this place. We ordered a breakfast burger to go and it was so freaking good! Ive had breakfast burgers before, but this one is definitely my favorite. Everything was well seasoned. The staff was all very nice. It is a little small, but who cares. Its worth it if you have to wait. Also, very affordable. They were taking cards only, due to Covid.
Many parents wouldnt take their 8 and 12 year old daughters to Bourbon St. at 9:00 PM on the 4th of July, but we like to live on the edge.Due to the combination of getting into town late and picky eaters, we ended up walking to Clover Grill late on our first night in New Orleans.Overall the experience was good. The food was tasty and reasonably-priced for the French Quarter. I cant say it is a healthy choice, but if youre trying to make healthy decisions, New Orleans is the wrong place to be.It was a little slow for short order diner food, but they seemed a little understaffed. It may be faster under normal circumstances. It took us probably 20 mins to get our take out order. As an out of towner I cant be sure, but I got the impression this was a place locals frequent, which is generally a good sign. And the person taking orders and working the register was very nice and helpful.Be aware, during our visit on 7/4/2021 they had a no cash policy and they were resolute about it. If you bring only cash, youre not eating. Apparently this was due to a recent spate of robberies. So maybe dont take your 8 and 12 year old daughters there late at night.
