This restaurant had such a great feel to it- some good vibes. You order at the counter and you take a number to your table and the servers will bring you your food. Food was very good, servers were cheerful.
It was a good find. I needed a place with outdoor pet friendly seating and breakfast. Well, this place checked my boxes and then some. The food was great, the portions were good, and the service was great. There is a side alley that leads to an outdoor bar area that pets are not allowed so be aware. They have a good drink menu and will accommodate most requests. I highly recommend trying any appetizer just because all of them seemed good. I also recommend this place for early risers because they have a morning Happy Hour!!!!
Found Red Dog looking for a breakfast spot. Had a wait of about 40 minutes but we were able to have some drinks at the back bar. Which was clutch for a recovery after a long night. The whole party enjoyed everything. I had the waffles and it was great. The mimosa were expensive for what you get. The neighborhood was cool and had some shops to get souvenirs.
The food was so dang good. I had the patty melt, but we sat at the bar, and watched them cook: every single thing that came out looked amazing and it was really hard to decided. It was a nice place to have lunch with friends. I would recommend maybe calling ahead to reserve a spot: it would have been an hour wait if the bar had not opened up, but it was worth it. I also had a margarita, and it was delicious. The fries were super fresh, and the service was awesome. I will be back on my next visit.
My wife and I were driving on our way back to Texas from Pensacola Florida (5 day vacation) and decided to stop at New Orleans for lunch, we checked online and found Red Dog Diner... OMG seriously??? I can tell with no doubt it was the best meal we had in our 5 days vacation! and we had really good meals in Pensacola! but Red Dog Diner was amazingly delicious! an explosion of flavors super well made! the Paella soup was unbelievable, the chicken portobello pasta was super good, the rare tuna crisp super good... for desert we had the cranberry pecan bread pudding! that thing was way too much delicious... were longing to go back to New Orleans to eat there one more time!!!
CRUSTED CRAB AND EGG SARDOU!!! Do yourself a favor and go order this right now! So amazing! It has been added to my must have when visiting New Orleans! Husband said the biscuits and gravy was some of the best hes had as well. Its a smallish diner but is super cute and we had great service. I will definitely be back
Fell in love with the shrimp and grits, and the blueberry pancakes. We had a long conversation about how they must find only the best blueberries. We found a kindred spirit in our fellow Philadelphia waitress. Did you know there is an amazing biscuit hiding under everything you go to eat in New Orleans? Its true. Great food here, friendly and fast service, we will think about this place fondly.
I’ve overlooked this place for years and that was the worst mistake I could have made. The food here is excellent! We arrived during happy hour on a Friday. They have half off Tidbits/Grazers and cocktails. The service could have been better. Our first server tried to deter us from ordering what we wanted to order. She kept saying it was too much food! But we only wanted 3 Tidbits/Grazers to share among the 2 of us. If you’re going to sell bites for half off during happy hour, don’t try to put a limit on what the customer orders. It was irritating. We were there right before a shift change, so we ended up with a different server. He was better, but a little slow at times.I have no complaints about anything I ate. We ordered the Quail and Waffle and pimento cheese spread. The quail was flavorful and fried perfectly. The pimento cheese was good as well, but not sure I’d order again. For entrees we had the Reuben and Croque Monsieur. Both were amazing! However, the fries/stringy things on the side got cold really quick. I had the Ohld Fashound and the other guest had That B*tch Katrina. It should have been called That Punk Katrina instead. Both drinks were weak and unimpressive. I’m glad that we only paid half price. With that said, I’d definitely be back for the food and the drinks not so much.
Why did it take me so long to finally discover this place? Went there for happy hour / dinner and between my husband and myself, we got to try three appetizers (deviled eggs, spinach and artichoke dip, corn and crab fritters) and two entrees (duck diablo and tomato and oregano glazed salmon). Everything was flavorful and delicious! They also have really good drinks (my favorite was the peach one, photo of the ingredients included) and one of the best bread puddings Ive had in town (and Ive had many). All drinks and appetizers are half off during the happy hour. Also, I realized a week later that I had left my credit card there and it was still safely there.Ill be back soon, for breakfast this time.
The beet pizza is officially one of my favorite foods of all time! We wandered into this restaurant as tourists in New Orleans and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. From the appetizers to the main dishes, nothing disappointed. The service was also excellent (our server was Rebecca.) This is a gem of a place and an easy stop on Magazine Street.
Had breakfast here 4/22/2019 and it was wonderful! On a friend’s recommendation, I had the Curry Roasted Cauliflower “Humpty Dumpty” (their name for omelets) withpeppers, gruyere cheese, hummus, tamarind and potatoes; along with an absolutely delicious blueberry pancake (1,2 or 3 available as you wish) recommended by an unremembered online source. I ate most of it without syrup because it wasn’t needed. The omelet was so good! My friend had, and quite enjoyed, the more John Smith breakfast sandwich consisting of Bacon, scrambled eggs and cheddar cheese on a biscuit with a lovely side of fresh fruit. This was my second visit to The Red Dog Diner. First time was for their happy hour which I think is one of the best in town. Both times the service has been excellent. If you’re there between 8-10 am Monday-Friday they have a breakfast Happy Hour with 1/2 price specialty drinks.
Red dog diner on magazine street. This place is a hidden gem. The location is easy to find, right on magazine street. They had front table seating available when we stopped in, it isn’t a huge area and could easily fill up. There was also another area around the back, with some sort of seating but I never look at what exactly it was. Our waitress was very nice, a little awkward, but very nice. Their food is just outstanding. Everything is clearly made to order with fresh ingredients. We had multiple dishes, first was the croque monsieur- house-cured ham, gruyere, mornay sauce, tomato jam, spinach, dijon, on rosemary focaccia. Probably the best croque monsieur we’ve had! Nothing was overpowering and the ratio of bread to all the inside ingredients was perfect. Maybe slightly salty but good! The quail and Mac n cheese waffle. (Chicken fried quail, mac-n-cheese waffle, tabasco maple syrup) it was a deep fried quail and a waffle made of Mac n cheese. It has a little kick to it from the Tabasco maple syrup. It was really tasty as well. If only it was a larger dish! And also the Seafood Cioppino- spicy tomato broth, clams, mussels, shrimp and drum. Very impressed and enjoyed it quite a bit. Probably the best version of it we have had. Definitely worth checking out!
Stopped by on our way to La petite grocery. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the friendly staff and seated promptly. We ordered an appetizer chargrilled oysters and each ordered two drinks. My husband had a mint julep and said it was fantastic and I had the frozen strawberry Mamosa and would definitely recommend it. It was probably in my top three favorite drinks I had on our entire trip to New Orleans!Overall would highly recommend stopping by. The restaurant had a fantastic atmosphere and the wait staff was knowledgeable and friendly! Hoping to make it by again soon!
Awesome experience! I will be back soon.
We were served by the wonderful Olivia who was very attentive. Ordered drinks which were delivered promptly and ordered the cheese platter which was delicious. All the food arrived quickly and was in generous portions. This is a casual place, everyone is down to earth and friendly, not stuffy. I would definitely bring your apetite as tje portions are very large, and save room for the yummy deserts. A must if youre in the Garden District.
Food was great! Good beer selection, vegetarian options. A lot of outdoor seating, not a lot inside. The food came out in less than 5 minutes and was fresh. Pretty busy on a Saturday and still great.
Great shrimp omlete! YUM!
Amazing! Fast service and very large portions. A little pricey but definitely worth it. Ask for the ice coffee with the coconut whipped cream. You won’t regret it
This place is amazing!! We had a cuban sandwich which was absolutely delicious, the queso dip which I 100% recommend it came out warm and was so tasty, we had 4 different tacos they were all delicious but the brisket taco was the best! Will stop by this beautiful diner again before we go back home! 😍❤❤
Duck Diablo entree and the Chicken and Gravy sandwich were out of sight! Chill spot that’s kind of fancy but still casual. Nice place.
The Berry waffle and adderall coffee is a must. Service and the overall vibe was great.
Happy to have walked into this place because they have an amazing happy hour and one of a kind cocktails. I also love the decor and how the bar is in the back of an alley. Very cool place. Our bartender, Keith, was super helpful in helping us make our decisions. I will be coming back here when I visit New Orleans again.
Unique food. Very delicious!
It was delicious and the staff was amazing.
The staff was super friendly, the restaurant itself was adorable (I loved the dog sculpture above the bar). The food was DELICIOUS!
Incredible food and service. I tried the shrimp and grits and was blown away!
The most wonderful place to have brunch; blueberry pancakes are a must.
Good service but okay food
Sweet potato pancakes are a must.
Neat place. Funny/witty drink menu. Decent prices
Wow! I cant say enough about how good this place was. Delicious, inventive, gourmet and without outrageous prices. The beet, goat cheese pizza was sweet and salty goodness. The almond cherry bread pudding was the best dessert we have had in new orleans. Make your way down magazine street to this place!
Keith was wonderful; I ordered the “Early Bird Gets the Whiskey” and he made a fresh pot of coffee quickly and provided excellent conversation while I waited. The happy hour menu had so much to offer. 10/10 would recommend: great staff, great drinks and food smelled amazing.
Great location, food and service.
Everything we had was excellent as was the service!
The food, service and ambiance were awesome!
If you go, get the crab fritter appetizer!! Phenomenal even though I’m normally a fairly picky eater. So crunchy yet soft at the same time. I got the chicken salad sandwich which was pretty good, along with the Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was very unique. Not my favorite flavor (so classical Mac and cheese people beware), but it was a nice artisan take on the side. The atmosphere inside was great and our server Preston was wonderful!
This place is kind of awesome. The bar area is really cool. I definitely recommend the jammin julep if you are looking for a stiff drink.
I basically give all of my money to the Red Dog Diner and they feed me. Perfect. Try the chicken fried quail and Mac n cheese waffle with Tabasco syrup (first haha) and if you need a pick me up or are just starting your day drinking activities, ask for the Sam Heals- (it’s a secret special drink of holy adderall, Buffalo trace whiskey, coconut whipped cream, coconut sugar and magic, that’s not on the menu)
Good food and great service
Delicious food, delicious drinks and a super friendly staff. Very welcoming atmosphere overall!
Awesome food in a chill atmosphere. Great laid back staff, with hilarious menu and cocktail descriptions. Daily drink specials (even AM!!) are a plus. Pro tip:. Get the housemade Bloody Mary, dayam!
A favorite location for delicious American food. Loved this place from the first taste. Service treated us so kindly. Prices that wont shock you.
Red Dog Diner back dining area has the feel of an Acadian home with large wooden pillar supports dividing the room. The bar and seating area are joined with a slightly split-level flooring and is reminiscent of a large outdoor southern porch. The environment was not too loud, even being at a table bordering the bar.The Crab and Bacon dip was pretty good! Could have used a few more crostini, though. For an entree, I ordered the Effen Good Shrimp pasta dish. The shrimp themselves were cooked very well; still moist and plump and well seasoned. The cream sauce and pasta did not taste quite like they were incorporated into the dish. It was pasta + sauce + shrimp instead of tasting like a cohesive dish. Not horrible by any means, I was just sad I didnt end up liking it more. For what its worth, my husband got the Parmesan Crusted Chicken and he said his was just delicious. The drinks I had were unimpressive, but not bad; just nothing to really write home about. Our table ordered another drink just before our meals came out. After we were done eating and the plates had already been taken and the waitress brought the ticket, the last drink finally arrived. We had assumed the waitress had forgotten to put it in, and were surprised that it came after the tickets.Id definitely be willing to give this place another chance given the other good reviews. Plus, the ambiance was nice--the bar is truly unique. Ill just have to pick a better entree to judge it by!
Food was amazing as was the service!! Thanks for the enjoyment!! 🍽️🍽️🍽️
I just stopped in to experience something new to me. I loved it!!!!
Original menu. Eclectic setting. Delicious Moose mimosas & spicy bloody Mary drinks. The food was beyond delicious. The wait staff attentive and kind. Excellent find!
Quiet spot to people watch and have some delicious appetizers during happy hour.
Great food
Love, love, love this place. Fabulous sandwiches, great ambiance, and fantastic servers. The Lemon Immigrant is to die for - not too sweet. The Reuben, quail mac N cheese, and the rest were all amazing. We came back over and over. Amazing servers for all our visits - Thank you, Red Dog!
Great cocktails (not too sweet, unlike most of NOLA) and delicious food. Service was kind and the atmosphere was chill.
Food was really good
We tried both lunch and brunch here, both of which were fantastic! The breakfast tacos were especially delicious. They have a lot of available outdoor seating, which we really appreciated during COVID times
This place is AWESOME super cool vibe and the food was Sooooo Good!!
I found this place via Google and fell in love! I was in NOLA by myself and entered this diner looking for a great breakfast. The staff was very friendly and took care of me promptly! We chatted and I got recommendations for food which did not disappoint! Great atmosphere and even better food!I loved it so much I came back after my walking tour for another snack and drink! The staff greeted me warmly. Made me feel like I was home!
I’ve been visiting NOLA for years and this was, by far, the best meal in the city! The customer service was fantastic! If you get a chance to sit at the bar, do it... you can watch ALL the amazing food come out. Ask for Brigid as your server.. she is the best. This place will not disappoint!
The food here is amazing. I’m pretty picky when it comes to my food, but this food blew me away. Excuse me if I’m being dramatic, but I nearly cried during my meal it was so good
First and foremost I love this place and Ive always enjoyed the food. So I placed an order online, ordered a white cheese and arugula pizza, and it said 20 minutes until it was ready. So I walked over and noticed that it was pretty busy and figured I should call. I was told 15 more minutes but waited 20 to be safe. Then i called again and got put on hold for 20 minutes. Why did i wait 20 minutes? I have a deep faith in humanity and terrible social anxiety. Anyway, i hung up and called again. A sweet young person answered and brought my order out to me. Now, I walk maybe 10 steps before I open the box. And man, let me tell you, Im not an expert on anything but I do feel like a white cheese and arugula pizza should have arugula on it. Now, I give red dog 5 stars because even though I had to wait a while and my order was a little bit wrong, I still love that place. Also, the servers there all looked exhausted but they kept up their smiles and kept up the energy. Good on yall.
Loved this place! Talk about amazing food! The tamale meatballs were to die for! As a native New Mexican, these were on point! The snacks and bites menu was phenomenal! Snug and cozy atmosphere with friendly and awesome staff. The decor was on point and fun to look at! Great garden district stop! A must!
