My first time trying this place and it was awful!! Myself and a friend waited over an hour for our food. We watched people who ordered way after us continuously get their food before us. When asked about our food the waitress kept saying a few more minutes. After over an hour we got our money back but when it actually came this is what it looked like! Never again!
I had the Granny Hug and my bf had the Voodoo. The food was wonderful but be prepared to wait a bit. Appears they only have a couple people working inn the kitchen. It was close to 40 minutes before we got our food. It was very tasty and fairly priced though. Super funky interior. Wish it was a little warmer and brighter. Youre basically in a converted garage. Definitely a unique spot with plenty of variety.
My husband and I stopped here to eat on our honeymoon because it was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. I guess we should have heeded the fact that Guy Fieri featured a salad from here rather than meal plates. I tried the Quarantine Mac and Cheese, which the menu stated featured chicken and bacon in macaroni and cheese. I was expecting something similar to Applebees 4 Cheese Mac and eagerly anticipated trying it, but it turns out its grilled chicken coated in the nastiest barbecue sauce Ive ever tasted. The flavor did not go well with the mac and cheese at all. My husband got a burger I believe, and while he said his food was good, he didnt care for the side of mac and cheese he got either. His was just the plain mac and cheese, and he said it was really bland. If youre a DDD fan, Id recommend going to another Nashville spot instead of this one.
My friend and I arrived just before a rush - the girl at the counter was extremely slow and didn’t seem to have much knowledge of the small menu, and they only had 1 coffee option which was a pumpkin spice latte that tasted like dirt and cinnamon (maybe wasn’t made properly as the same girl who took our order made the drink.) We waited a while for our food and my friend and I both ordered the avocado toast, hers with an egg on top. They not only forgot her egg (which they didn’t replace but gave her a free water bottle for?), but they also completely forgot my order as a whole; The large group that was behind us got their entire order before I even got mine. The decor is wild and fun and i liked the live music, but the inside dining area is pretty small so we had to sit outside, where they have a major wasp and yellowjacket problem (I’m allergic so I ate the huge piece of bread with some avocado on it VERY quickly to avoid being in harms way for too long.) In summary, the place looks and feels cool but the service and food did not meet expectations at all, the only reason i’m even giving 2 stars is because the waitress was nice and prompt with addressing our concerns.
The setting is incredible, great GREAT food. Good prices. Great staff. 10/10. If you havent been you need to go and if you have but its been awhile GO AGAIN.
The sandwiches here are unique and delicious. The Reality sandwich had great steak and pesto sauce served with skillet potatoes on the side. Everything tasted great and the outdoor seating was nice. The inside was dark and a tad cramped, but the eclectic decor was fun.
Awesome place! Food was incredible, staff was great! We ate outside and loved it. Cant wait to go back and try more items. Breakfast Tacos😍👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
This was my first time in here and I gotta say I liked it, mind you its wont be everyones cup of tea but it reminded me of a few off the beaten path places myself and some friends would stumble across on road trips. Great selection of beers and the food is awesome. Not your atypical bar food food here but some great sandwiches, sides and burgers with a lot of menu items made from scratch in store. Definitely worth checking out with some friends or snagging some grub for the house.
Its a very eclectic sandwich lunch location. I ordered the Rubin and it was lacking flavor. My side of Mac and cheese needed salt salt also.
We been here several times. The food is amazing and we will continue eating from here however, we have officially given up on dining in. The service each time we go is horrible from the people at the front. They do not have energy to even smile. They mope with their shoulders down as if they hate their job. I get it, every one is over worked but a hi how are you with a smile goes a long way. A lot better than the eye rolls and the attitude. Maybe it is just my personal experience but I get the same service each time I dine in.
My first time giving a 1 star review to anything. Please note that we arrived as soon as they opened and were the fourth people in line. After 25 minutes of waiting for our two brunch entrees, we were told they were too far behind to know when we would be up. At forty minutes, we asked again. We finally received our two meals after waiting 50 minutes. By meals, I mean that the potatoes were still raw, the eggs were cold and we never received our fruit. By the time we waited and then ate what was edible, the couple in line in front of us were still waiting. Another couple in front of us were still waiting on one of their orders. Bot sure what was going on this morning, but it was super disappointing.
The food here is incredible. I got the Heros Everywhere sandwich (I think thats what its called) with goat cheese and potatoes on the side, with their spicy pickles... Best food Ive eaten in a while. Those pickles rocked my world. Definitely not your run-of-the-mill bar food. The atmosphere outside was great with the mini fire pits. Loved the whole experience.
Nice place. Was quite surprised upon entering. Originally just came in to check on hours of operation for google maps but place really spoke to me immediately. It’s kind of hidden behind Ace Hardware fro main road. Had to try something but was not hungry yet, so I tried iced coffee with coconut milk and hazelnut. I’m enjoying it outside as I’m typing this review. Everyone inside was welcoming and pleasant. Definitely will come back to try some food and more coffee or tea perhaps. I’ll add to this review with more details upon my next visit. 5 stars for now
The food was fantastic!Everybody enjoyed every single thing we ordered. The food seemed to be high quality, flavorful, handcrafted. Loved the little cup of freshly made marinated veggies, still crisp. Yum! We will be back.
Its honestly quite jarring how inconsistent my experience is here. Ive had the same dish prepared 3 separate ways, depending on the day of the week and hour that I visit. Not sure why they even include descriptions to their dishes if the cooks seemingly just wing-it each time. I went in tonight and unfortunately it was a total disaster. Placed an order online and waited around for an hour past the time they said it would be ready. Looked like they somehow only had one cook on staff for a FRIDAY NIGHT, and I did feel bad for the guy. At least he was nice enough to refund my meal once it was finally ready... Its just a shame because this is one of the cooler / more unique spots in Donelson, but man does it need some help.
Phat Bites is a Nashville original. I hope they dont change a thing. Its perfect exactly the way it is. Go for lunch or dinner, go to the bar, sit outside or listen to live music. Its the real deal.
The black bean burger was very tasty. The coleslaw was above par. It took a little while to get our food order considering they werent very busy, but it was a good food for the cost.
We enjoyed the patio late night vibe. The food is excellent!!
Hnnngh. Every single thing we had here was awesome. Pita, hummus, sandwiches, burrito, pasta, all cooked perfectly. House beer was crisp and tasty. The bartender, Christy, was friendly and helpful, their logo is so neat I had to have a shirt, the music was perfectly weird, and the atmosphere kept my kids entertained. Incredible place that we stumbled upon accidentally, and Im SO glad we did. If we lived nearby, we would definitely be frequenting the place. THANK YOU!
A very nice place to grab a bite. Food tasty and filling.
Its our Anniversary weekend and in true Hendley fashion WE roadtrip!...Yep we drove allll the way from Atlanta to Nashville @ the suggestion of Guy of Triple D! This place is right up our alley! Delicious comfort food, Great drinks, Cool, Chill, No frills or fuss atmosphere & full of locals! *Bonus live music!!
Took over 30 mins to receive our food. Someone sitting next to us had to see what was taking so long to get our food. Once we received our food (I had the Granny Hug) it was Salty, not even hot (room temperature) and my husbands food was the same, he had touch steak. The only good thing about this place was the music and vibe. Everything else, we were highly upset and will not be coming back.
I was visiting Nashville for work and looking for a late breakfast. This place was amazing. I ordered a omelette and it was perfect. I would go as far as saying it was the best omelette I have ever had. It was extremely fluffy and full of ingredients. The service was great as well. The southern hospitality shined at this amazing gem. Thank you 😊
Ate here four times in 8 days. The first Rueben was amazing. Piled high with delicous corned beef. Went back for another and it was decent. The 3rd had very little corned beef and the remoulade was not marinated like the first two servings. No consistancy. The last chance visit was a BLT and it was served with chipped bacon like salad or potato topping. It was terrible.
Went here for one of our foodie stops. The food was AMAZING!!!! As for what we saw on triple ds show the place is sorta dark inside. Friendly staff!
The quesadilla was incredibly well portioned. It was delicious and satiated my hunger without making me feel overly full. Highly highly recommended!
Phat Bites used to be the only hip thing about Donelson. In my day Hip Donelson was an oxymoron. Phat Bites has gone down hill considerably since changing locations. Not only in food quality but also service. However, the atmosphere is awesome and its a good place for a late night drink. Nevertheless, if youre an old fan you will be severely disappointed with the product. This restaurant will leave you saying, I miss the old kanye.
The food here is great. The sides here are great. The staff are friendly. BUT it earns 4 stars instead of 5 because the kitchen is SLOW. If youre okay with waiting on your food at a leisurely pace, this place is an absolute winner, just be ready to wait a long time for a sandwich whether youre the only one there or if there are 10 people ahead of you.
This was a cool place to relax and I had a great time with my brothers. The bartenders were really nice and we decided to order their chicken quesadilla. It was stuffed and soo delicious, the chicken and other ingredients kept falling out lol but it was amazing. Never had a quesadilla like that before.
Great place for band music on a Tuesday night! The Lynn Beal Band was great last night! The food is good, although the Styrofoam containers it comes in are not a good touch. But well be back for the music, ambience, and fun folks. It is a neighborhood gathering place of fun.....
One of my favorite go to places for lunch, hot and cold sweats(meal name), you can get a free brewski too, would be 5 stars but the meal doesnt seem to be consistent. Im still chasing the perfect potatoes with the perfectly cooked sandwich like I had on my first visit!
Definitely a funky little joint. Must see with live music.
The food is always top quality and if you go on the weekend you are sure to catch some unique entertainment
The quarantine mac n cheese was the BOMB! It was soooo good and the portion was massive. I have ate it for 3 meals! Delish
Pretty cool atmosphere. Would definitely go again but unfortunately, I dont live in Nashville.
Amazing food with plenty of vegan options as well. You DO NOT want to miss this place if you are visiting Nashville.
Chill trippy hippie friendly. Came Rollin up in my heelies and vape
Great place but dont try calling, they will never answer their phone.
I wish I could give 0 stars. Quite literally the worst service I have ever gotten. Waited patiently for nearly an hour on our meal with a hungry child, and then when brought to the hostess’ attention, she was rude and refused to help us. Avoid at all costs.
Great food always but there is one bartender female with curly hair that has always given me an attitude when I came in. As if my presence was a complete burden to her existence. I never go out of my way to write a review but this would be the third time now. Love phat bites. Im local so hopefully a refresher in customer service etiquette is needed or maybe its just me.
With the amount of decorations there is giving it a nice stoner/hipster vibe you think that it would be a nice little hole in the wall with good food right?!? Wrong! They have never heard of any spice (including salt or pepper) as the food has no taste whatsoever. We got the Nashville hot chicken macaroni and cheese, the new reality sandwich, and loaded potatoes. The only thing that had flavor was the attitude of the person behind the counter when we walked in. The macaroni has nothing on it but the boiled water that it came out of (kraft box). The loaded potatoes was just potatoes and mayonnaise. I love food but you have to at least do something to match the flavor with what is matching on the inside
Great experience. Love this place. I wish they were more drink choices.
Ehhh. Got the Mullet burger it was good and spicy. The marinated veggies were not good, kind of old tasting paired with the cumin and it was very dirty laundry smelling. It had a side of Mac n chz which was creamy and could tell it was homemade but it was bland. Very lackluster and thought maybe the quarantine Mac n chz would be better, it wasnt. Husband and I were disappointed since the reviews are good but nothing but the burger seemed ok.
I used to go to Phat Bites and Too Phat all the time, sometimes 2 or 3 times a week. I didn’t go during COVID and was so excited to be able to go a couple weeks ago. We have been CRAVING their honey nut chicken salad, the pesto pasta salad, and several of their hummus flavors. I was really disappointed to see that they’ve totally revamped their menu and serving/ordering process. I may be in the minority here, but I loved that Phat Bites was unique. There are dozens of places in Donelson to get burgers, tacos, quesadillas, etc. But there was nowhere like Phat Bites. You could go and get all sorts of cold salads, hummus, and you could buy them by the pound. Perfect for lunch, dinner, a picnic, whatever. There was just nothing like it. Now I feel like it’s just like every other place in Donelson. They’ve taken off a lot of the old favorites and added many items that you can get most other places. Also, it took almost an hour and I ordered a salad and a wrap. I had already paid for the order and the only 2 people were slammed cooking so I didn’t want to waste their time away from cooking to refund me.
I was there on a busy NFL game day. Service was great and the bar area was great. My Reuben was just not to my liking. The corned beef was chopped fine like a paste. It had an odd texture that way. Im just more fond of thick slices. Ill go back and try another sandwich because the place deserves another visit.
The food here was good. I ordered the steak quesadillas and tacos. Great live music also.
Discovered from episode of Diners Drive Ins and Dives. Funky adaptive reuse of former car shop with cool murals and hip crowd. Features fresh hand crafted sandwiches with flair. Vegetarian sandwich on fresh nutty artisan bread was inspired. Delicious reuben. Tuna wrap good too. Pickles homemade and exotic sweet tea. Return trip for sure.
Awful experience today. Waited an hour for food. When I politely asked about our order after an hour the cook screamed at me and told me she was cancelling it and that we, frequent customers, should go eat somewhere else. She was screaming directly at me so loudly and flailing her arms from the kitchen that one of the servers seemed kind of embarrassed. It was embarrassing- unprofessional, inappropriately rude and nasty. They may have been backed up. But they for sure forgot our order and there was no apology made. Sadly, I had the same experience several years ago here and I quit coming for many years just started back. Looks like I will be going to other places again.
I ordered the hot and cold sweats, PSA: its raw meat smhI ordered it online, the description was not the same as the actual meal served to me. It was cold tasteless and tasted of blood . I couldnt eat it so next was the sides, the Mac and cheese was unseasoned the cheese was chunky and didnt taste like cheese. It was a very milky pasta . The salad was bizarre I ordered a cranberry salad it was too sweet, and the ingredients didnt go well together. Overall the customer service was okay but the customers there were rude to my sister walking into the loo, without knocking and felt no need to apologize. Overall will not be back and dont see how people eat here .
Great food, fun atmosphere, friendly staff
Amazing food! Amazing drinks and Christie (sp?) was our server... she made us feel at home and gave great tips on the Nashville area. You MUST go!
WiFi was down so they didn’t get my online order. Julie the chef gets right to it and makes my order fresh with the sweetest and warmest heart! My meal was sooooo fye! I was in legit bliss as I ate it and thought of how I know Julie was in there cooking it with love!! She made my day! I’ll be back
Poor experience at Phat Bites. We went for breakfast (okay, maybe not the best time to experience this eclectic place, but if they cant pull off breakfast, dont open at 9 a.m.). They opened the doors late and werent ready to serve people. The coffee was meh (they serve local Bongo Java, which isnt my fav), the food itself was very good (I ordered the McBobs Bennie), but I couldnt really get past the dump that the place is. Ripped couches, broken tables, etc. I wont go back.
I had the 4/20 and it was great.
Service was a little slow for arriving after the dinner rush but food was good. Pricey but good!
In town for a mini road trip and discovered this place for lunch. Excellent all around. Very unassuming from the outside but really cool inside. Didnt realize that this was a Diners,Driveins, and Dives place. Got the Hot Affair sandwich. Best thing Ive eaten all week. Packed with meat, huge tomato slices, awesome sauces and homemade pickles. Their tea is great too.Check this place out if you are near this area. If Guy Fieri gives it his stamp, you gotta try it.
Great place to hang out. Good food and any drink you want, very affordable.
We always have a great time whenever we go to Phat Bites. Beer and food are always good. Tyler and Tyler are very good at their jobs and the manger is also.
Where to start... best, off the beat dive bar/restaurant. Come to Nashville and see the tour seen, then get out and hangout at this bar. Low key, bonfires, music. Tyler is a fun and terrific bartender. Julie, owner, is a treat to talk to and will make you feel like family. Please support this local, woman owned business.
Food is good. Atmosphere is strange and looks run down. Service is sketchy and inconsistent. Worth a try.
Wisconsin butter burger is bomb, food is juicy and so good. Worth the wait for sho
Some of the best food I have ever eaten. Very unique and delicious. Great atmosphere with unconventional decor. Highly, highly reccomend the hummus - best ive ever had
Great place, good food and good vibes.
This is the quintessential hole in the wall restaurant. The food is unique and delicious. The hippy vibe is great. You will enjoy the experience.
The esthetic of the place is really cool however I was still disappointed. The food was cold, the tea was gross, flavor just wasnt there. Id enjoy a drink by the bonfire here but I wouldnt eat
The staff is great, food is good, LOVE the bar. Great local live music. This is a great place to see friends and people watch.
This place is a total dump...no wonder dogs are allowed...SMH
Quirky atmosphere, with consistently varied but good music. Have only been a couple of times and only for breakfast. The staff was friendly, and showed just the right amount of attentiveness. The issue I have run into several times is them not having what is on the menu in stock. The first time they were out of smoked salmon. The second time they were out of bagels. The third, no expresso. The food that came was good, and their banana bread French toast bears special mention. Also, the staff made it right each time so in the end Ill likely be going back.
Great for take out. The Ruben sandwich is very, very good.
Place is soooo badI don’t even have words
Not fast food, but phenomenal food. Always have to nourish my body and soul when I visit Nashville with some Phat Bites!
I don’t know...this place is make shift. We all got sandwiches and they were good, but it’s definitely a strange set up. You order, pay and tip at the bar, prior to getting your food (that’s how I did it, anyway). The staff was pretty friendly, but it’s kind of a weird vibe throughout the place. A unique experience for sure.
A huge roach crawled past the card reader right as I was about to pay and the cashier casually swept it away.
The 420 burger is the most well crafted burger I have had in Nashville yet. Really cool venue as well whos employees do a great job upholding covid regulations.
The food is sooooo good
