They were really willing to work with me in my current situation. I called around to see if I could get the repairs done for less but AAA had the best price by a min of $100. I have more repairs that need to be done & my car WILL be going back.

I had a flat tire and needed to have my car towed to a near by discount tire shop. Aaron was my driver and this brother was great. Great personality, conversation... very genuine and very helpful. He is a great representation of the AAA

I arrived on time for my appointment, and they checked me in, and took the car right in to do the oil change and tire rotation. I had a coupon to get a discount off of the full synthetic oil change, but the rep informed me that as a AAA member, I didnt need the coupon, as I would get the price quoted on the coupon automatically. That made me feel special. This made the cost of the oil change, tire rotation, and the digital inspection an exceptional value. Thanks to the staff of AAA Matthews, and AAA.

Poor Customer Service. Had a very nonchalant attitude regarding the service.My wife scheduled an appointment with this establishment for a oil change for our truck.I get there and they find the appointment and then proceed to ask me if we have been there before.I instructed them my wife was here before and they start trying to look up her past visits can’t find anything by her number or info.So I had to interrupt my wife at the hospital for her AAA membership number and then they find her account.Then she had a coupon for the service and it had the code on it. I showed it to them and they acting like they have never seen the code before. And then they ask me what website did she get the code from and she said she got it from there website SMH.All this back and forth to get a oil change so I just stop and canceled once I seen they have no care in the world to help me.Now I don’t know if there were having a I don’t care day or if it was from racial outlook. Who cares either way I just was disappointed after hearing amazing stories about their service. I’m just going to spend my money with an establishment that wants my money. NO Biggie…

Attention was good and the multipoint inspection with actual photographs of your car make it reliable. In terms of prices, it seems pricey but other things are cheaper than in Nissan.

This review is specifically for the Insurance department. Short version: their auto insurance is bad, so I cancelled it, and it took them six months to tell me (via a debt collector!) that I owed them money, and I had to talk to multiple agents before I found out why.It started when I was researching combining my car and my husbands on the same policy. After AAA sent me a quote, I noticed the medical payments limit on AAAs policy was far lower than on my husbands ($2,000 versus $25,000! Do not recommend, I doubt a measly $2,000 will cover medical expenses in the event of a serious accident). I emailed back to ask if they could send a quote with the medical payments at $25,000 instead, and they never answered. Not even a sorry, thats not something we can do. Nothing.So, in February I decided to go ahead and move the policy for my car over to my husbands. We signed the paperwork for the cancellation and everything seemed to be fine and dandy.Fast forward 6 months. Its now August, and I get a voice mail from a debt collector out of the blue saying I owe money to AAA Insurance. I happened to have an appointment with Car Care anyway, so I talked to an insurance agent while I was there. He said I cancelled my policies so long ago that he couldnt see if I owed money or not, so Id have to call the accounting department directly. I called them and the lady said she could only see that I got a letter in June saying I owed $0. Zero. She said she would have to talk to some other lady who handles this and get back to me later. So thats the second person I talked to that didnt know what was going on.A day later I get an email confirming I do owe money because its standard practice for an insurance company to charge you a fee when you cancel a policy. Thats fine, but I cancelled the policy SIX MONTHS AGO and only now heard about this through a debt collector. You can imagine how unhappy I am to be hit with a surprise $200+ bill in the middle of a pandemic when I could have paid it much earlier in the year if AAA had bothered to communicate it to me.As of this review, I still havent received an answer as to why I never got a bill from AAA.Between this nonsense and the apparently inflexible low maximum medical payment in AAAs auto policy, I cant recommend their insurance to anyone.

Sadly, AAA had a bad day. I was there to swap out a defective battery which should have taken 15 minutes at most. Unfortunately, the technician over tightened the battery terminals however that happens and they had to be replaced. The whole process took over two hours. They were apologetic and it was no charge but it was an unpleasant experience. I was also disappointed to learn that when one has a defective battery they no longer allow roadside assistance to swap out the bad battery. Its bad enough the battery was bad but adding more inconvenience to the process is not good. Ive been a AAA member for 40 plus years and this is the first really bad experience with them.

Scheduled an appt for 2 pm for a state inspection, car wasnt even looked at until 3, didnt get out until 3:40. Id recommend going elsewhere.

Had an email verified appointment at 8:30 on Wednesday but when I arrived I was told my appointment was at 8 and I need to reschedule. I showed them my email with the appointment time and was told it must be an IT problem. Rescheduled for Thursday to get the oil changed and it took nearly 1.5 hrs. A lot of wasted time and frustration. They were also very pushy to add more services like $75 wiper blades and $100 brake fluid flush. Not just suggesting but pushing me to do it. If it took 1.5 hrs to get an oil change that was scheduled then I may have been there the rest of the day for a brake fluid flush.

Ive gone a few times for various things (new tires, oil change, etc.) and every time the employees are genuinely nice and honest with their work. As a female who doesnt know much about cars, their honesty is what keeps me coming back. I wont go anywhere else! Would highly recommend this AAA location to my friends.

I was very impressed when I walked through the door at the office. When you think of AAA you dont realize how much more they offer than auto road protection. I came in to apply for an international driving permit and Payton was so helpful. She answered all our questions and we got what we needed. She also told us about their trip planning and what they had to offer for travelers as far as luggage and trip aids. And they have a great looking auto service area! Stop to visit if you are in the area and see what they have!

I consider this place is being a certified shade tree mechanics, I was told what was wrong with my vehicle,but I never was shown what was wrong with my vehicle very unprofessional.

I purchased new tires and had an alignment done. I appreciate the vehicle inspection complete with photos to indicate other maintenance that may need to be done in the future. Work was completed in a timely manner and they kept me updated as the work was being done. Warranty cant be beat. Paid significantly lower price than previous work done at dealer.

The AAA car care team at Matthews is both reliable and HONEST, which can be hard to find. Theyre great, always trustworthy and professional. Dealers always try to upsell me, and sometimes they dont even do the work they promised. But the AAA team always does what they say, at a good price point. I trust their service, and I recommend them without reservation. Getting an appointment is convenient and comfortable, and I guarantee your car will get the work it needs. Five stars, a hundred stars ... AAA is excellent at what they do! I trust them with my car and my wifes car, and Ill be a customer for life. Thanks, AAA.

When my radiator went down on my truck, i called for a tow which got there in less than 45 minutes. They gave me a ride home since it was late. Next day i had my estimate and by the end of this day, i had my truck back. They picked me up and brought me to the garage where the tech went over it one more time to make sure everything was right. In the end i ended up paying less than the quoted price. They went above and beyond in my opinion and have gained another customer. WELL DONE !

I purchased my tires from Tire Rack and this shop was one of their recommended installers.I have a Lotus Elise that I get a little nervous just letting anybody work on. When I called, the gentleman who answered let me know that he had worked on multiple Lotus cars before and that he would be there when I brought my car in. He was actually the one who changed my tires out for me. Great service that I felt very comfortable with and at a very fair price. WELL DONE!!

They are always very courteous and try to get me in as fast as they can. And their work is always excellent.

They shoot straight no chaser. Tell you what you need, and dont need at the same time. No hidden cost or fees. Please, if you dont have AAA car care invest. Its worth your time and money. And they answer all of your questions. Tell me what you think after you give them a try.

Because i have older vehicles, I have used these guys several times and for basic services - oil changes, tune ups, inspections etc and they do a nice job. Professional and courteous, they are honest and upfront about their pricing which is very refreshing. so far no issues and will continue to use.

I moved here from Salt Lake City and had my vehicle serviced. I was truly amazed with the service, the politeness, knowledge and the caring attitude of all the employees. The work was completed in a timely and accurate manner. All completed work was explained. Just by waiting on the next rep, who was w/customers, the way they explained everything prior to work being started showed how professional and concern they are insuring the customers knew they, I were in excellent hands. These people are NOT trustworthy and are nothing but shyster con-artist. Dont trust them to just fix a flat. They will ALWAYS find something else wrong with your car that they probably caused just to get more money out of you. DONT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR VEHICLE!

The staff is friendly and the building is clean and well maintained, but thats where the positives end. I was always told not to take my car here but figured since they were towing it and I get 10% off the labor, I would give them a shot at it. I had my vehicle towed to this location suspecting a busted radiator hose as it was overheating and spewing steam. It took the tow driver an hour and a half to get to us when the estimate was for 45 minutes. After it arrived at the car care center I was called and advised that the diagnostic fee would be $50 and they would call back when they finished. I received a call back at 4:45 that the radiator was cracked and the total charge was going to be over a thousand dollars. I advised that I would pay the diagnostic fee and have it towed to another shop - a local shop did the same work for $510. AAA also sent me a long list of things that needed attention, some of which took unnecessary time - like checking the brake rotors, which I didnt ask them to do. Pricing is very much like the dealerships which is why I avoid them and will avoid AAA in the future. They also required me to drive to their shop to pay the diagnostic fee instead of taking the payment over the phone. The manager claimed that they had done this in the past and the customer then stopped the payment with their bank right after the call. They must be unaware that with online banking and cell phones you can stop the payment as soon as you step out the front door of their shop too. Save yourself some money and go to a reputable shop!****Update - received an email from AAA customer service asking me to email them regarding this review. I did and the manager of the location called me and claimed that I lied about the estimate amount and insinuated that I took my vehicle to a shade tree mechanic for the repairs, even though I never told him where I had the work done. Add horrible customer service to the above review - still only one star and would be zero if it was possible.

Went to AAA Matthews for brake replacement and was assisted by a very professional and helpful service advisor, Steve. Steve was very knowledgeable about their service and assisted me on getting the best price for the services I needed. Personal service means a lot to me and I will definitely be going back to AAA Car Care for my auto service needs.

I am very unsatisfied with the service I supposedly got. My oil was not full after an oil change and my fluids that were supposedly topped off OR in good shape were not especially my coolant, I was VERY low had I not checked behind them I would not have known. Thats a shame after paying for a service you still have to go out and buy fluids because of not getting what I paid pay. Very unhappy customer WILL NOT go back. I also drove 50 minutes to get to the nearest location so I expected good service.

We used AAA in Matthews, NC to plan a 10 day road trip to Pittsburgh PA, Niagara Falls CA, NYC and DC. Agent Crystal Beasley went way beyond my expectations! We had several stops off the path we wanted to visit along the way and the directions and advice for all of these were included in the Trip plan. All of the hotel accommodations were wonderful. We couldn’t have asked for a better planned trip!

Hello review reader. I drive an old beater here in matthews and have been with AAA for many years internationally. I have always had great experiences with AAA until a few days ago. My car broke down in my driveway on saturday night (the alternator died due to an oil leak) so I called AAA to come and see what was what. The initial mechanic was excellent. He identified the problem and recommended I have it towed that night for an inspection on Monday. Here is where my experience took a turn for the worse. I waited for a call on Monday, I try to be a reasonable person when possible so I didn’t think too much of it when I didn’t get a call that same day but I called on Tuesday morning as soon as the shop was open to see what the update was as I was getting a little anxious about transportation seeing as I was borrowing a car (I work 1st shift at an essential job). When I called they told me they had no idea who’s car had been parked at their shop and had not acted on anything, Fair enough. I told them that I really needed to know and would appreciate if they would be able to inspect the car that day since I had to decide to either buy a new car or just fix my beater. George said it would be done by the end of the day, it was not, I found that out by calling the office at just after 5pm and getting diverted to their national call center saying that is had been scheduled for the following day. Again, I understand that things can take a bit of extra time, especially during the whole covid fiasco. When they called me on Wednesday morning they told me is as few words that they did not perform as thorough of an inspection as they could have and that the problem would reoccur given time due to the oil leak (they said that fixing the leak would cost a good deal of money, more than the value of my vehicle). I still elected to have them replace the alternator because it would give me wheels for a few months while I looked for a new car for cheaper than renting a car in the interim. I will say the gave me a small discount on labor which I did appreciate. Still, I wasn’t particularly impressed at this point but that’s not why I have written this. I took it to a friend who is both a car and plane mechanic to take a look an was in less that a minute he saw that a good bit of my oil leak problem was coming from my oil cap ( a $2 fix ) in the 2 day that I had driven it was an obvious and large problem that was solved by a small piece of rubber, now I’m not saying that this will fix every leak but it will certainly dramatically reduce the amount of oil leaking, especially onto the alternator. My mechanic was very surprised when I said they didn’t say anything about such an obvious problem and was appalled by the grease prints left on the hood of my vehicle. They didn’t even wipe off their handprints, its a white car.Will not use this branch again, truly setting the bar low.

This is the first AAA auto care center I liked. They do something new here that i really, really, like. They sent a link via text to a website with pictures of everything they think should be done after theyve inspected your car. Having time to read what whats wrong is so much better than having a mechanic ramble off a list of items they want to complete on the phone!

Was very pleased and very much satisfied with the professional people who took care my car. Made me feel so welcomed and the place was very clean. Was taken in at the last minute of the day. I will not take my car back to the dealership again. The man who took care of my needs was on top of things and was so helpful. I will most certainly take my car back there.

My daughters 2004 chevy broke down and we could not get it in gear. We thought the transmission was gone. The AAA tow driver explained it might not be the transmission but the clutch cable and suggested a dally tow...got that and it was the cable only. Then while in the shop we were told by a prior place that the power steering was leaking and we needed to replace the pump. We had AAA look at it and they tested it and said there seemed to be a small leak but wanted to do an additional test before replacing the power steering pump. Told us to drive it a few days and come back. We came back and it wasnt the pump. Just saved $300. Steve was knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Loved the experience. AAA Car Care for me from now on. We are AAA members and even got a discount! Just bought another used car and got the Extended Warranty from AAA. Thanks AAA Mathews.

Called to get a quote for oil change and schedule appointment. Gave the year, make and model of my car then was quoted a price. Upon arrival it took 25 minutes for them to tell me that my oil change will be more than quoted . All the information was given to them over the phone for an accurate quote. Not happy with AAA-Matthews.

I had an excellent experience working with Gray Burch, who helped me find an auto insurance policy with better coverage while still saving me money! He was very helpful and knowledgeable, quickly answering all my questions. It was obvious that he genuinely cared more about finding me a policy that best suited my needs and price point than trying to meet a quota - something very rare when dealing with insurance agents. I feel that Im in good hands with these folks and will be a customer for life.

I would really hate to even give these people one star, but i had to have this post posted. They have ruined my car to a point where i had to literally go to another mechanic to get my parts fixed. All the repair shop people are mean to a point that they will address it to you. You would expect to have a good service when you go to AAA, but this place is just taking peoples money for granted by providing the shittiest service they could provide. I demand to have this place shut down or have everyone replaced in there

My wife and I stay in this area twice a year as we drive from NYC to Miami. I started my AAA membership here over 5 years again ago and use their mechanic services as a routine. The entire staff here are very friendly, receptive to our needs and seem to find a way to make us feel at home. I am very confident in their services. In the past, besides regular oil changes, I’ve had brakes replaced, tires replaced and other minor mechanical service such as topping off fluids. Their prices are more than fair and their mechanics are forthcoming and qualified! We will continue to stop by always! Thanks again guys and gals!!!

Terrible customer service. Took my car in for an oil change and tire rotation. Tires were replaced wrong and the rationale given is the came in wrong. Really?!?! Tires are now damaged but we can re-rotate them and give you a free alignment. General manager agreed I should just leave this alone 😂😳 The expensive cost you pay for location!

I brought my car in for an oil change. The next morning there was a pool of oil on my driveway under the car. I figured they must have spilled some oil when they were changing it and it was running down the engine. I put some card board on the driveway to protect it until the dripping stopped. Seven days later it was still dripping oil. I took my car to a mechanic to investigate. AAA had overfilled the oil and it was overflowing when the engine got hot. The mechanic had to drain the oil and refill it to the proper level. No problems since. The coupons they send are not worth it if they do a poor job. If they screw up an oil change, who would trust them with anything else?

Love my AAA plus membership but after two let-down experiences at this car care center (Matthews, NC), I definitely won’t be back. 0 for 2 is enough for me. The next nearest one on Albemarle Rd was quite the opposite experience, and I’ll continuing driving a few extra miles for service I trust and enjoy there (and will positively review that shop now).

I am so upset!! I have been a AAA plus member for years. I needed a oil change for my car, called up to the service center and told them my car’s year make and model, and also told them it took synthetic blend because of it being a hybrid. I was quoted $35 out the door... so I immediately made an appointment, came in and once all was said and done they rung me up for $69! I expressed that that was in fact NOT the price quoted, and they REFUSED to honor the quote given to me just hours prior over the phone!!! I will be calling corporate because this is wrong! Honor your quoted prices!!!

I had never used AAA Car Care but as a AAA member I thought I would give it a try. I scheduled an oil change and waited over two hours. I finally had to ask for my car back. I was told that my appointment was scheduled through the call center and not directly to their location so the appointment was doubled booked since the call center cannot see their schedule. Maybe so, but that isnt my problem. I scheduled a simple oil change - its not my responsibility to make sure that their schedule and the call center schedule does not overlap.

Have owned and managed auto parts stores for many years and recently moved to the area and began using this location. They have performed numerous oil changes and tire replacements for me and have always done them in a timely manner and VERY reasonable! Terron, one of the service writers, seems like a great guy and every time I ask if they can do something it’s always “yes sir, we can do that”!Their service guys are very friendly too, which is unusual in itself. I took my car in for an oil change and second opinion on some proposed maintenance. They did a great job and provide a shuttle service for AAA members. Though maybe a few dollars more than the some other places, it was worth it. AB

If I could give negative stars I would. I’m BEGGING YOU...DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! I had never had any issues from my car (6 year old Nissan Sentra that I had had for 4 years) the check engine light had NEVER been on. Eventually though, when I would brake, the car would shake a bit (not a big deal seeing as how this is the first problem it had ever given me) I took it to AAA to get it fixed and to also get an oil change, three days later my check engine light is on, my oil light is on, and I’m broken down on the side of the road...THREE DAYS LATER. These people are liars and they are CROOKS, I’m a nursing student just trying to survive and I was literally broken hearted by this incident. You want to believe that there are honest people in the world...please, PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE. I will continue to write on EVERY review site, social media, tell EVERYONE...whatever I have to do to keep this from happening to another person.
