Was going to charge us 1400$ for a catalytic converter. Went to a nother garage and nothing was wrong with it. They have also done this with brakes. Highly do not recommend this place.
My personal experience was exactly what i expected. My salesperson answered my questions and shared his product knowledge conerning my 2021 Forester. Terry Subaru was able to locate my particular vehicle in transit to another dealer, in the color requested, and kept me updated on my delivery. I traded in a 2009 Forester due to the enhanced safety features and quiter ride on the 2021....,i will miss my 2009. My 2021 is a great vehicle, produced by a great company (Subaru), and sold & serviced by a great dealer (Terry Subaru, Forest VA)

I bought my first Subaru recently and I have no problems at all with anyone there. Adam Nickerson was very helpful for me. He was very knowledgeable about the cars he showed me. I decided to go with a car that was on its way to the dealership and he asked me if I was sure that I liked it since it wasnt the color I originally wanted. I think its amazing that he cares more about the customer being happy with the car they are buying rather than selling the car. The car wasnt supposed to be in till the 21st but it got there early and he called me and let me know right away. If you are looking at getting a Subaru I would highly recommend going to this dealership. Ask for Adam because but I know anyone would do everything they can for you.
Great Service! Bought my car from another Subaru dealership but get all services done here. Professional and dedicated team with reasonable prices. Highly recommend asking for Chase (advisor) when scheduling a service. Never had a problem and they always work within the specified time frame. Courtesy shuttle operating before business hours with a friendly driver is a huge bonus too.
Always over priced. Go to First Team in Roanoke for a slightly better deal or use Autotrader.com and look at a 300 mile radius. Youll realize how much cheaper the same vehicles are once you get out of Virginia. The ONLY good deals that are on Virginia are Virginia Beach/ D.C. areas. Otherwise, go out of state. You WILL save thousands on new and used vehicles.

While I enjoyed the salesperson I worked with and people were very nice, I have just learned that I was sold a car with a 7 year old battery, which promptly died two months after I bought the car. They tell you that the car has been thoroughly vetted by service department before purchase, but this was a big miss and I got majorly stranded in another city as a result.UPDATE: given the willingness of car dealership management to provide a credit for my next service I feel like they have addressed the situation which definitely speaks to their integrity. I have also learned something about being a more savvy car shopper. I do love my Fiat 500!
[Service Shoutout]Yesterday, my Crosstrek left me stranded in the Aldi parking lot. I quickly became frantic as I’m a teacher with one available car for a 45-minute commute and we already don’t have subs in our district. I got on Terry’s service website and saw where there were no available appointments until Wednesday afternoon. I e-mailed the service department on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, not expecting to even hear a response until Tuesday and certainly not knowing when any actual work could be done.Ricky Harvell responded to my e-mail plea on Sunday afternoon (on his holiday weekend) and called me Monday morning to get me in that day. He called me as soon as they had a diagnosis for the car and told me of a few maintenance things that could be repaired. Ricky wasn’t pushy as I told him I’d get those replaced at a later time. John Trivits got my starter squared away as well as my two recalls, which was a wonderful surprise as I was on a waiting list for one.I didn’t catch the name of the two folks who helped me check out (one may have been Ricky or John himself; not sure of their appearances due to e-mail and phone correspondence), but a huge shoutout to them for being kind, too.Seriously, thank you all so much for getting this anxious teacher back on the road as quickly as you did. Your kindness and hard work on a day where most folks are off was very much appreciated and certainly did not go unnoticed.

So I tried calling the dealership before it came to this but I guess they are uninterested in setting things even a little bit right with a disgruntled customer. The thing is I did not buy my car from the dealership but my car needs very specific parts almost all from the manufacturer which is how I ended up here. I was buying parts and was told by the service center to make sure that whoever I got to put that part in that they had replaced the part on that specific type of car before or it could be disastrous needless to say being that I am a woman who doesn’t know much about cars or fixing them this concerned me. So I asked this dealership if they would be willing to put the parts on for me to avoid such an error. They were willing for sure but said that they “wouldn’t feel right” about putting parts on the car that may not need replacing. Well that makes sense so they asked me to let them “diagnose” it to make sure that it was the issue. Now that was frustrating as they had told me that they charge $100 per hour to diagnose something being that my car is used it should be clear I don’t have that kind of money. So they told me that they would make sure that if within a certain amount of time they weren’t able to fully diagnose it they would not charge me as much. Ok. That’s fine I bring my car to them, it takes longer than I would like, (prior to this I will say my mechanic had checked many things and had hit a wall with repairs which is a big reason why I came there) they call and tell me that the oil line to the actuators for the camshaft are blocked. Right away I’m suspicious because my mechanic had pulled all those lines and none were blocked. Then they say that they will fix it for nearly $3000, I tell them no I don’t have that not gonna do that for something I know isn’t wrong with it. I pay them nearly $400 for diagnostics that helped me with NOTHING. But when they put it back together so I can pick it up I find out 3 months later after it’s put back in the shop that they left a power source to my camshaft unplugged so long that it went bad and cost me more money. It’s been a nightmare!

Absolutely done with Terry Subaru services. They continuously disappoint over the course of 3 different Subarus (17 WRX, 17 Forester, and now a 21 Outback). Tonight, while driving home we smelled oil, pulled over and noticed smoke coming from under the hood. Opened the hood to find they forgot to put the oil fill cap back after an oil change on Wednesday.Avoid their service department at all costs!Ill be following up tomorrow morning and will of course be disappointed but not surprised by a service manager that pushes blame instead of making it right.
The staff at Terry Subaru is among the best Ive worked with, particularly Chris Woods. Chris is an excellent salesman who answers all questions completely and goes the extra mile to make sure you get the car you are looking for, including as many test drives as needed. He does not pressure you in any way to buy something thats not right for you. I highly recommend Chris and Terry Subaru. Theyve always treated me well. I have purchased 4 Subarus there.
I live 2 hours away and bought from them not the many dealers that are closer. I tried other dealers, but they all annoyed me with their canned responses. Great experience INITIALLY. Bought the car, but dealership failed to send ANY car registration forms to dmv until almost 3 months AFTER buying the car. Also refused to replace expired tags even though they failed to send documents on time. Unprofessional untimely manner and unapologetic. Very disappointed in the service. Love Subaru but this company specifically have made the car buying process a nightmare.

I spoke with Jennifer Campbell who explained my options. Jennifer could have tried to sell me another car which would not have been the best option for my position. Our Jeep died after 23 years of service. My husband and I went car shopping and decided to go to Subaru. We walked around the lot looking at different models when I happened to look into the showroom. There sat a beautiful Orange Crosstrek! I fell in love. Not only was it cute it was a great price. Vernon took it out of the showroom so I could give it a test drive. This car is a smooth ride and so fun to drive. The gas mileage is great, too! I didnt fill up for a month! Friends of mine recently purchased a new Subaru from Terry Subaru. They were given $800 for their trade-in vehicle and were told it would go to auction. They were shocked to see their car listed in the newspaper for $5,877 at the Terry Clearance Center. This is a 635% markup! This is way beyond the 25-45% mark up one might expect. To make matters worse, they trusted the person they were dealing with because of a personal family connection. I hope that Terry Subaru realizes that in scamming this nice couple out of a few thousand dollars, they have cost their business much more than that in the long-term. I, along with others who know about this, have blacklisted this dealership. Buyer beware, and steer clear of this place!

The service was great, as always the people working were attentive and straightforward. They were able to resolve an audio issue with my car that was apparently a new thing that they had never seen before and wasn’t in and of the reference material. I’m grateful for their expertise. I think they had to pull back the overhead lights/moonroof controls to resolve the issue- sadly there are now several nicks in the plastic casing that surrounds those lights and I had to slot the whole thing back so it is flush with the roof. Hence the 4 instead of 5 stars. Idk if this is the access point for them to fix my issue or if the nicks could’ve been avoided but now my barely 2 yr old car has 6-8 nicks all around the enclosure.

I purchased my truck here over a year ago and had a excellent experience buying my truck. I recently scheduled a service appointment with Landon he instructed me to see Ben when I arrived. Ben was welcoming, conscientious and took time to confirm the service requested. Once completed, he walked me through every step taken to care for my truck and the technician went above and beyond. The price was fair and I was happy to pay it because of the explanation and phenomenal service. I was extremely disappointed in how I was treated at Terry Subaru. My husband and I came in at the beginning of the month to test drive and returned a week later ready to talk numbers. We thought everything was going well until was sat down in the office. I had made it clear that we had a set budget for a car and wanted to work out all our options before deciding. But once in the office, I was handed a pen and a contract and told to sign. I was slightly taken back and said I wasn’t going to sign anything else I knew price points. But once I said what our budget was I was scoffed at and told that I should probably look for a car $10,000 or less and I would be stuck driving something with 150,000 miles on it. I left the dealership in tears. It was a horrible experience. I felt like I wasn’t taken seriously and once the salesman realized he wasn’t getting a quick sale out of me, he quickly grew cold and condescending. I took my business to another Subaru dealer and ended up leasing a brand new 2019 car in my price range. If you’re looking for great customer service and helpful salespeople, I’d stay away from Terry Subaru. I will be telling all my friends and coworkers to not bother looking for a car with them after my experience.
Amazing Service in the service department. I paid for a diagnostic and they had some difficulty finding the problem because it was an obscure issue. 2.5 days later they found and fixed the problem. I was terrified of what my bill would be because I am on Social Security but they only charged me what the original charge would have been! Amazing!A+++++ Rating, Definitely go to Terry Subaru!
The team is terrific and Delano always does an exceptional job of coordinating all the servicing needed for my vehicles! I always feel special when I am there even though I am spending money. That says a lot about my trust in this center.
I had work done today on my 2012 Outback (190,000 miles), and my experience with the service department at Terry couldn’t have been better. I live an hour away from the dealership, so my decision to go there wasn’t made lightly due to obvious costs. That said, I was impressed. Ricky, the service tech, was attentive to my concerns, and he addressed all issues completely. He also made recommendations for future service and helped me decide what to address sooner rather than later—my beloved Outback isn’t a spring chicken though she now crosses the road like one. The dealership gave me a complimentary ride to and from work while the service was completed. All in all, you get what you pay for—expertise and reliability delivered with professional and courteous service. I will not take my Outback to a local repair shop ever again. The down side for Terry is that I’m no where near needing a new car—but if I were, I would trust them to sell me my next Subaru.

I almost LOOK for reasons to come in because the atmosphere and the employees are that stellar (well, maybe not LOOK for service issues since my Subaru rarely, if ever, has them, but for all the maintenance, it is phenomenal!) I have 110,000 miles on my 2015 and it keeps going strong. Beats any of the Charlotte dealers HANDS DOWN! Excellent staff! I always feel comfortable when I bring my Subaru here for service. They have never tried to get me for more than what was needed in my car and always step out to ask permission before doing anything outside of the planned service.

The counter personnel have always been very friendly and appreciative of me choosing them for all of my XV CrossTrek servicing needs. As well, there is a very nice comfortable area with a TV to watch while you wait and a complete line of refreshments including coffee, pop/soda or depending what part of the country you are from soda pop, water, etc. There is a long counter-top desk where you can work if needed including a place to charge your phone battery with multiple phone charging adapters. All of these bonus objectives that Terry has added to make your wait enjoyable hits the mark of Customer First Excellence!!!!

I will NEVER take my business here again. I bought a used car that I have had nothing but problems with. One thing after another. You figure for $15000 your vehicle would have some type of warranty that protects you even from the most basic issues. Now I have an issue that is most likely going to prevent me from getting to work, but it doesn’t matter as long as a salesman gets his commission I suppose. Buyer beware and have your own personal mechanic check a car before buying from here.
