Are you kidding!? This is the best place ever! Everything there is so delicious and fresh! Excellent crew. Excellent food and drinks. One of this is chocolate croissant, it’s so good and not too sweet chocolate. The another this I don’t remember the name but has beans 😧🤤 tomato and avocado!! Sooo good.

The entire visit to this coffee shop was exceptional! The service was amazing and my waiter was very accommodating to the language barrier. He recommended the burger salad which was really amazing and of course dessert was perfect. The atmosphere is elegant and inviting. I honestly cant think of a single negative. I will definitely recommend this coffee shop to all coffee lovers!

All of my questions were promptly answered and in the format that I needed. Any time I called for assistance, he was still there. There were also tasty treats and a wide variety of music to choose from. A one-of-a-kind coffee shop. At the coffee shop, he was the best kid. He was very helpful in helping me find the right place for me.

I had the Media Noche sandwich, it and the Papa Rellena were delicious.

The staff was a humble guy that knows what hes doing and gets the job done well. Try their services and you won’t regret it for sure. The quality of service they provided was amazing! I couldnt ask for more! I will never forget to tell all of my friends and co-workers about this place for sure.

We sat outside and enjoyed the lovely day and local residents. The food was incredible and our group loved the corned beef has, blueberry pancakes and the pecan sweet roll. Out of this world! Service was quick and it was a great value for all the food you got.

I popped in here while my friend ran errands. They have a great atmosphere and a great selection of pastries.I visited a second time - had the egg and cheese sandwich which was DELICIOUS and a small coffee which was also very good. Definitely check it out!

The cafes staff was extremely pleasant, and the service included delectable breakfast crepes as well as excellent coffee and hot chocolate. Last Saturday, we had a fantastic breakfast at this coffee shop. The setting was warm and inviting, with excellent artwork and eclectic furniture. The restroom was also unusual. Well be back as soon as possible!

Love this place! Try the beef pastelitos (sp?) and guava & cheese croissant. Pretty Havana vibes inside & outside too! Most cashiers are super nice. theres always the one whos unbothered 🤷🏾‍♀️

Coffee was great, and the pastries were fresh and tasty. I also appreciated the water that they brought with our order. The staff are very friendly and helpful they sure know their job, and they know what they are serving. This is a great place for a nice coffee.

Three blocks from our VRBO, we discovered Café Tropical. Great service and terrific breakfast. Wonderful flavorful omelets and giant waffles. Doesnt get any better than this. Three mornings in Savannah and three stops at Clarys.

You get so much for your money here. Our table was almost too small for all of our food. The pancakes and basic breakfast staples were great!

We found this spot as we shopped and explored area. The food is deli style but fresh. Tuna nicoise sandwich was delicious and Georgia made ginger ale was very spicy and full of ginger flavor. Popular with locals. Great for breakfast and lunch.

I rarely write reviews but I love supporting small businesses so I thought Id write a review for this one! I found this gem while dropping off my friend at the plaza next door. So glad that I stopped by to purchase their lemon ginger tea. Before I purchased the tea, the worker let me and my friends try some patries and chocolate. It was very yummmmy! The workers was also really sweet and soft spoken. Definitely wanna come visit again! Although, I wish they sold ice coffee.

Don’t be Afraid of the lines! I keep the restaurant moving fairly quickly. The spinach and feta quiche was fantastic! The avocado quiche was OK... needed a little more seasoning. The chocolate croissant was also OK. The breakfast croissant sandwich with turkey sausage was really good. Excellent service!

I was still exhausted from work, so I wanted to go to one of the nearby coffee shops, but this one drew me in. I enjoy coming here for a visit from time to time. Thank you so much!

New owners removed many of the classic items and changed the way coffee is made, even changed the cafe con leche. Now its closer to the american version with foam. Even still it was worth going, some of the new items they brought where tasty like the jalapeño cheese croissant. However today I went in to buy a Cheese and Guava pie, used to able to walk in and pick one up. Now you have to order a day in advance, for me personally thats what Cafe Tropical was all about Queso con Guayaba, that was the heart of the establishment. A perfect blend of sweet and savory pie, unique in all of Los Angeles. This feels like an adjustment made for American palettes which is sad to say the least. I found that Gigis Café on Temple st sells Cheese and Guava pies every day and the cafe con leche is closer to what it should actually taste like. Still the new Tropical has really well made pastries that are unique from many pastries you find around town and the coffee they do make is good. Its just not got heart it used to.

First time visiting, came in for breakfast on a mid morning Saturday. Place was filled but seating was fast. Gave order to the waitress. After 15 mins. And me following up on them, They finally brought my simple French toast. The manager came over and apologize and took it off the bill. Good tasting was regular and presentation was too.

Ive heard about Café Tropical for a while now, even before they opened, from the guys at Cafe Dulce in Little Tokyo. From what I know, the guys who started this place were also originally from there too.

Cake baked my wedding cake and I was very impressed by it!! The cake was absolutely delicious and beautiful. We ordered a two-tiered carrot cake with cream cheese frosting with pink/white flowers for decoration. My wife keeps saying how she really wants to eat more of the cake. The cake delivery was also prompt and there were no issues with a cake stand rental as well. Thank you !!!

It is a very old restaurant and once you step inside you feel going back in time.

Absolutely a must in Café Tropical!!! Not fancy or pretentious. We sat outside as the day was beautiful!!! I ordered the Club Sandwich, my kids ordered Reubens, and my husband had the Gyro. Wondeful! Also, make sure that you save room for the chocolate éclair!! All four of us couldnt finish it!! Dont miss this place!!

What a delightful place to eat! The food we had was incredible and quick. I ate a chicken salad sandwich, and it was the best I had ever tasted! I wish we had stayed in Los Angeleslonger so that we would have had time to eat here again!

Amazing bfast. Its a great spot to grab a strong coffee, grab some pan dulce and enjoy the neighborhood. This is the bacon sandwhich on a croissant. It was perfect .

Hector would not serve me coffee until I said it in Spanish; Quero una cafe con leche grande para llevar, por favor.When the owners changed and put in the blond wood, the food and coffee stayed the same. We did lose.the back room.Anyone else remember?

Ate ar clarys for a late breakfast. I had thr seafood omelette and husband had the crabcake Benedict. Both very fresh and flavorful. The food came out hot and very quick. Heard positive comments from other diners around us. If you go during a peak time or on a werkend expect a wait but its so worth it. They are on jones lane, such a pretty street.

The women taking order was very rude. From a service prespective; picking up an order. I provided her the order info she gave me an attitude for no reason closed the window on my face. She serviced other with no issue a polite young man finished the order I thank him amd tried to thank her but she completely ignored me. I got the distinct feeling that it had to do with race and the fact I was picking up someone elses order. I will never eat here. However the hispanic man was polite, friendly, he tried excuse her behavior. The food was prompt and fresh. To bad her behavior ruined the experience for me.

I love that this place still exist. Its surrounded by hipster coffee shops that charge double the price and tend to come and go with the season.Whereas Cafe Tropical has withstood the test of time because the food and value for money is unmatched in Silverlake. Its not pretentious or instagramable and the staff is warm and attentive!

They are almost always busy, but we got in around 9:00 am, and the line was short, and tables were available. I highly recommend the ham and swiss croissant - very yummy. Lots of pastries and quiche to choose from.

This place was a gem before they renovated. I went for 2 turkey sandwiches and the girl barely put any turkey on it. Talk about rationalizing food over the higher prices they charge now. I love the place but I will not be coming back here for food anymore after this visit.

Love coming to Cafe Tropical. It has great Cuban food and pastries. Guava and cheese are my favorite. The are so kind to let party of their space be used for meetings.

New ownership appears to have ruined the old Tropical. The menu is entirely different and less unique. The once uniquely Cafe Tropical coffee order is now is now a menu of basic-ified coffee options that you see everywhere. It has a very white washed and typical flavor now. (To be fair the empanadas are much better.) The once massive menu is now smartly parred down like every other buisness in silverlake following a more minimal menu buisness model. It is also more expensive, but I can hardly blame them. Rent in this town kills everyone.The old Tropical brought a value to your experience that was unique to all of LA. It was an institution. It is gone now.

A mainstay for a good reason. Coffee is always hot and strong, bakery is solid and sandwiches are great. Quick, fairly priced, tasty and friendly. Never a bad call on your way to work, for a midday sandwich run, or for some of their traditional guava cream cheese pie.

Delicious food and great coffee. I’d argue that the Cuban food here is better than Porto’s. The Hermano & Cubano sandwich are great, and their pastries are delicious. Glad to support them during this pandemic.

Things change! I preferred the old aesthetic but the food and beverages are still quite good. My favorite guava and cheese in Los Angeles.

Coffee was just delicious. First time visiting this establishment and I was very impressed with the ambiance and warmth of the staff. The bacon & egg croissant was equally as delicious as the coffee.. This is a must visit if your in the Echo Park area of Los Angeles folks.. You will not be disappointed..

Very cozy and warm place to dine. Cafe tropical on Sunset Blvd and Silver Lake has excellent coffee and a must try flan. I highly recommend this bakery and its feel at home environment.

Not the same with the new owners. All the pastries and bakery is gone. Menu redone but the same? Its confusing. Good tastes the same but I can tell the breakfast croissants arent as good as they used to be.

Literally the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had in Los Angeles and I have lived here my whole life. The coffee is also amazing. The staff if equally if not more great. Definitely recommend the breakfast croissant with turkey egg and cheese.. or however you like it

I’ve been coming here for at least 17 years and really like the coffee, food, and the staff are all great. I would’ve rated this 5 stars as usual, BUT the great personal-touch ambiance has sadly gone to a somewhat corporate atmosphere, as in it’s now starting to resemble any other specialty coffee shop, complete with coffee burlap bag back pillows. And also has less space and shape that gave it a fun old diner-like feel. Too bad.

I had a smoothie and a couple of pastries. The smoothie was delicious! The pastries were a little bland for my taste but still decent and they were fresh which is obviously a plus.

Good coffee and breakfast. They serve freshly pressed juice and lots of different sandwiches. Liked their veggie sandwich with avocado. No service at the table. You order at the counter and pick it up yourself. Had breakfast there twice.

Love this place from the people to the selection what a sandwich should be like! Dope murals and nice vibe and Paula and Chris are amazing human beings cant go wrong but if you want to be mediocre than head to subway or one of those places if you want top notch and freshness this is the place!

We came here for dinner we got the chicken breast plate and a steak sandwich. Food was pretty good, maybe a little overpriced. No plantains on the side you have to order as a side dish. Service was pretty bad and non existent from the waitress. I dont know what her problem was but she barley spoke to us, never cracked a smile, and never checked on us. The girl who was bussing tables on the other hand was a sweetheart and gave good service, maybe they should switch jobs. Dont think we will be back.

Omg the food, pastries, & coffee were so good! My bf got a cuban sandwich and I got a quiche. I would love to go back here anytime Im in L.A.
