Killer vibe! Such a rad little shop. The employees and owner are super friendly. They make all baked goods in house (minus the croissants) and support other local businesses in the products they sell. The coffee and cookies are on point!

Worst experience Ive ever had at a coffee shop hands down. It was my first time there and my friend and I had questions. We asked about items but the cashier just looked at us with a blank face. We ordered two cold brews. Both people behind the counter looked at us like we were speaking a language they didnt understand and as though we didnt belong. The coffee itself didnt taste fresh. Extremely bitter. Overall, will not return. And I will definitely let other people know about the horrible service at this hipster over priced coffee shop. Gentrification is real...

My Highland Park friend took me here on a walk. (His review is pending the availability of more than 5 stars.) He purchased me a Unicorn Matcha, which was super good with cow milk, but I suspect might be better with soy. The baristas were very kind, and the bidon were on point.I say bidon because they sell water bottles for bicycles, and thats what the French call them. This caught my eye, and then I realized that the back of the shop contained a bicycle repair shop, which is one of my favorite kinds of places.I could have known, since à bloc is French for balls-to-the-walls bicycling. But my French, like my bicycle, is built from overused scraps picked up from the street, and is thus rusty and disjointed, and I sometimes find a box of parts I forgot I had. This is to say, Thank you, à bloc, for combining so many things I love so much: small business, friendly people, coffee, bicycles, and words for things that I love but for which my native language neglects to express. It adds up to je ne sais quoi. Or in internet English, 👍.

Ive been walking a lot since the gyms have been closed in the mornings usually for tea and N goes for a Latte. We have been passing this place far too often and I am so glad we decided to stop in.We just felt the love, and genuine craftsmanship that goes into all the things they do, from the bike shop component to the collection of baked goods made for shop each day by the wife.We tried the gluten free banana bread. N loved it and I liked it. Flavor was there, I just prefer banana bread to be more moist. N had a latte or a mocha... And loved it, while I had a perfectly Unsweetened Matcha with Almond Milk which was more than likely finished 3 blocks from the shop, so thank God for trash day because I was able to toss the empty container right away.Totally going to walk here again!

Abloc is a favorite! Genuine team of staff and employees that make you feel family the first time you walk in. Great coffee, amazing small bites + homemade sourdough. Also, if you ride - dont bother taking your bike anywhere else. Freddie is quick, excellent, and very generous with pricing. Hes worked on a few of my bikes and always done a phenomenal job. Other shops are quoting you a 1-2 week wait time right now for repairs. I love abloc!

Fab cafe with excellent coffee and food! Perfect place to start or end a bike ride, talk to one of the owners (Kjeld) he knows his cycling stuff and is a brilliant cyclist. You can even pick up fresh cycling kit or accessories for your ride here. Jenny makes delicious food including treats like fresh (vegan friendly) cookies and bakes her own sourdough bread, its so good. We will be back!

It is a great bicycle stop (or walk-in) for coffee and pastry, reasonable prices, probably the thickest (size wise) and the most elegantly decadent chocolate chip cookie you will ever have (I mean it) and great tasting americano. The owner serves you himself, and he is a great guy! You can get your bike taken care off too. There is a little shop in the back. NMRK

à bloc might just be the friendliest business on York. Its a family business where every customer is met with a genuine smile. The cafe bites are delicious and there are always vegan options. The coffee stands out in a crowded field. While à bloc caters to some pretty serious cycling jocks, riders of all levels are warmly welcomed

My moms friend recommended this coffee shop when in North Hollywood. I stopped in yesterday and ordered the avocado toast. It only took a few minutes to arrive at my table and it was very good. I wasnt in the mood for an iced latte but I made a mental note that they have some of my favorite flavors (matcha, horchata, and rose lavender!) so I will definitely have to stop in again to try one of those. Ive only seen rose lavender coffee drinks in Ktown so its nice to know I can now get one closer to home in the SFV. Service was very friendly and parking was easy to find on the street a couple of storefronts down.

THIS WAS THE MOST LOVELY COFFEE EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. The amazingly-spirited man who took our order took his time with each customer, having genuine conversation and honestly just charming the pants of off all. Come here for warm drinks and souls!

We stumbled upon à Bloc as my daughters and I were looking for a late breakfast place. The food was really good. The vegan sandwich flavor was amazing, although a tad too salty. My daughters eyes lit up when she tasted it and said, I did not expect that! Thats amazing! One daughter had the vegetarian burrito. While I later enjoyed it as dinner leftovers, it was a little too healthy for her. Large chunks of brussel sprouts and eggplant, while tasty, were a bit tough to chew for a kid who has braces. My other daughter had granola, yogurt and fruit. The granola was incredible. Made by a friend of the owner. Keep that friend!A note for people wanting to reduce waste: They do use plastic cups, straws and waxed paper bowls, so bring your own and ask them to use your reusable stuff. Unfortunately, the granola is pre-measured into the waxed paper bowls, so that one is a loss. I do give them high marks, though, for providing proper metal utensils and their use of paper and aluminum on their to-go food was admirable. I probably wouldnt come back of theyd used plastic or styrofoam. One suggestion I have for the owners is this: Since a lot of your hot food requires heating by toaster oven, I think another oven is in order. Or, make them fresh. If its going to take 10 minutes anyway, making the food to order might be better. Either way, though, well be back.

If you’re looking for a coffee that tastes like those in Europe (not super bitter, delicious, smooth and easy to drink) but with the kick of American expectations (i.e. 2 shots of espresso) this is the place! Easily the best Americano I’ve had in LA.I had the 2.0 mushroom sandwich today at it did not disappoint! The mushrooms were piled up so high that I thought it was a brisket sandwich from far away. The filling was a pile of mushrooms and homemade hummus - YUM. While I loved the homemade sourdough I think the texture of the bread is too dense to be 1 inch thick on either side of the sandwich. I think the slices of bread on the sandwich should be half as thick. Save the big chunks of bread w/ this texture for dipping in soups or open faced sandwiches. Or change the texture of the bread to be lighter. Another random idea (vegan brisket?!) -- get some crispy/charred sections on the mushrooms to add some variety in texture to the filling.Really appreciate their openness about making iterations and improvement on their already delicious food, makes me want to check in every week to see whats been tried. Cant wait to try to jackfruit sandwich sometime!

This place seems a bit schizophrenic at first. Is it a coffee bar? A restaurant? A bike shop? A bike club? A retail store? After grabbing a coffee, the sweet british guy was kind enough to tell us where the beans came from and who roasted, I think it was a 50/50 from Ethipoia, btw- the best cup of coffee Ive had. It was not bitter at all and didnt need my usual splash of half & half to mask any bitterness.I wasnt sure what to order so he suggested to try their famous vegan breakfast sandwich. For $6, it was an easy sell, even though Im not vegan. OMG, I can see why its famous! The meat replacement patty tasted like a real sausage! They nailed it. The hubs grabbed a ham and swiss croissant sandwich(also $6) and a cold brew. I took a bite of his sandwich and Im shocked you can get something this delicious for this price in LA.As we waited for our food to heat up, we walked around and noticed you could bring your bike into the store and that most of the motif was bike related. They also have a bike mechanic who was in the corner working on someones bike. Im not a bike rider, but my hubby is so he was geeking out over the clothes and accessories. Im a Target shopper so the sticker shock on the bike shirts was for real.Overall, we both really liked this little shop and the identity crisis is not an issue because all of it works together nicely. I loved the coffee, the food and the prices, my hubby liked the bike related stuff and loved his croissant sandwich and cold brew. We will definitely be back. And now we know where to go when it gets stupid hot again this summer.
