I love the honesty that you get from this location! I had to get a few repairs done before I could register my Jeep this year and as soon as I heard REPAIR all I could see was dollar signs going down the drain!! But I was so happy that it was SO reasonable when they told me the damage!! I will forever come here for my auto needs!

I was having a large issue with my car and dropped it off with them and within 45 minutes I got a call letting me know the problem, quoted price and time frame. I was pleasantly surprised when they came in exact on the quote and time frame. I would definitely recommend them to others!

Check engine light came on during a traffic jam, so I turned into the first place I came across. This was at 530 pm, I expected to be out of luck for the night. These guys did a super fast diagnostic and got the needed part and had me on my way in no time!

I recently moved to Utah and needed a mechanic to do my oil changes and brakes whenever they were due. I came to this shop out of convenience since it’s literally 2 minutes from where I live, turns out it’s the best mechanic shop I’ve ever been to. I can only say positive things about the people and the amazing shop they’re running. They changed my oil and brakes in about 45 minutes, if that! My check engine light turned on this past week and they diagnosed it in less than 20 minutes. They’ve been nothing but honest and real about what needed to be fixed and the pricing. If you need anything fixed, come here y’all, you won’t regret it!

Took my car to Layton Tunex to get an emissions test shortly after replacing the battery. They kindly informed me that the sensors would have to reset but I could come back in and get it retested for free in the next 14 days with out having to pay again. So I did. But this time they said their machine was having problems. He said it was a known problem with their machine that was causing the emissions test fail and there was nothing wrong with my car. They couldnt do their job, refused to give me my money back and now my car has an engine light and emissions system warning. I have to take it somewhere else to get it reset and re-tested. What a waste of time and money. I will not return.

I was on vacation. I was behind the 8 ball. They could have taken advantage of me and scared me into getting it serviced right then. They didnt. They were honest and told me what was wrong, and what needed done and how urgent it was to be fixed. I cannot express how much i appreciate honesty in car repair.

Always do a great job, dont try to push unnecessary services on clients, and everyone is very friendly. Especially Page at the front desk. She knows her stuff and is very helpful.

These are my go-to guys for yearly emissions/registration. If they see an issue with my car theyre always nice enough to point it out to me but dont pressure you into any unnecessary repairs. Id rather work on my own car so its nice when they say something like looks good, you might want to do your rear brakes here soon.

Absolutely love this location! I got new tires from another store and was told to get my alignment done soon after. They were able to fit me in later in the day and upon finding that my alignment was right on, they called me and gave my car right back! No charge. Awesome service.

Took my car here to get my safety inspection & emissions done and had AMAZING customer service! We worked mainly with Tim and he was incredible. Nice, clean cut, and HONEST man. My car didnt pass safety inspections the first time because I needed new brake rotors. It would have cost us over $300 for them to do it but he was honest and let us choose to do it by ourselves (my dad works on cars a lot and knew what to do). It ended up saving us nearly $200. We were so impressed at how honest he was and how he didnt try to sell us on stuff we didnt need or couldnt afford. Their safety and emissions price was lower than a lot of other places too! And if you get your car fixed within 15 days of the first inspection then you dont have to pay for another one, so I was able to get it reinspected for free. Overall, a fantastic experience! We will be taking all of our cars back to them in the future. Highly recommend them to anyone!!

Dont usually write reviews but need to speak up on the Layton Tunex. Ive taken my cars to them 4 times in the last year and have been very satisfied every time. They installed a part that did not clear the warning light, they put the old part back on did not charge me and informed me it was the computer. It was in fact the computer. Very satisfied with the work and their honestly. Wow I meant to give you Guys a 5 Star!

They have always been willing to fit my car in to get checked, things get done super quickly (which I cant say for very many places), and their prices are always very reasonable. I had never been to Tunex before, so I thought I would give them a try. I had a check engine light on. I took the car in on Friday, March 6th, 2020. They assessed the car and determined I needed a new air flow fuel injection sensor, or something like that. They put in the new sensor, charged me a couple hundred dollars and I was out the door in a couple of hours, so I was satisfied with their service, however, on my way home, the check engine light came on again, so I immediately turned around and went back. They told me the sensor they put in must have been defective and they needed to order another one, which wouldnt come in until later in the afternoon. I brought my car back and they installed the second sensor, but that didnt solve the check engine light. They ended up keeping my car overnight, cleaning my fuel injection and then putting in a new fuel pump. They told me I must have gotten bad gas somewhere. Ive had the car for 17 years and it has 265,000 miles on it without ever having bad gas before, so it sounded pretty fishy. I left the store the afternoon of Saturday, March 7th after a day and a half of them working on my car and spending over $800. The check engine light stayed off for a week after they serviced it and then came back on while I was driving into work. I decided to take it to the Toyota dealership after my poor experience with Tunex. Tony Divino Toyota did a fantastic job. They found the problem and had it fixed an hour and a half after I dropped the car off and I walked out the door spending only a fraction of what Tunex charged me. If you have a check engine light on, I would NEVER take your car to Tunex. Go to the dealership and get someone competent to look at it. Youll save a lot of time, frustration and money.

I have been to this location twice now and I love their attitude! Every other place I have gotten my car taken care of I always feel like they are trying to upsell me on products and they treat me more like a transaction than a person. Not here! They take care of my car, give me exactly what I ask for, and give me heads up on recommended services without trying to push the sale. I will be a regular customer to this location. Thanks guys!

New review: Sad, this shop used to be the only place Id go. The last two times Ive come have been absolute failures. My 15-minute emission test visit today turned into four and a half hours of never even touching my pickup truck and forgetting it was sitting there. Im done.Seems they lost an amazing manager.Old review: 5 stars...This is the only place I trust and will take my car anymore. I always worked on my own vehicles, but no longer have time. The few times Ive found other shops in the area I have significantly regretted taking my vehicle elsewhere as I had more problems, spent more money and time than if I had fixed it myself.Tunex has always fixed my cars/trucks well, and has had to solve issues that other shops have created. When they have found tiny problems (e.g. something not reconnected correctly when another shop worked on the vehicle), they have even fixed it with no-charge and thanked me for my business. I have taken 4 different makes of vehicles here over the last 6 years Ive been in the area and they have never let me down! Great management (Josh?).

My car failed emissions due to a recent repair. The associate who did the test told my wife to drive the car more to reset the computer and to make sure to do freeway miles as well, once that was done to come back and theyll retest it for no charge. During his conversation with my wife he failed to tell her you have 15 days or we will charge you again. When I called into ask about this I was told tough luck you should have read the fine print. This Tunex location has lost my business.

I took my vehicle to another shop and had diagnostics done and was charged over 110.00. I wanted a second opinion so I took it to Tunex in Layton. They diagnosed is as a simple broken vacuum hose instead of a 700.00 gasket problem, then they didn’t charge me the diagnostic when I had them fix it! Wow! Great customer service, and fixed in less time than promised! Thanks Tunex! You have my business!

Staff here are friendly and reliable. Theyve helped me with many a repair, theyve done a fantastic job on all occasions, safe to say im going to this location whenever I need work done.

For the most part they have been good with getting work done on my cars but, I have been finding lately that they are not that helpful. I brought in an old model S4, told them that a valve might be the problem, they tightened up a loose bolt and replaced a hose clamp and said that should take care of it. I ending up going home and using a vac line with my mouth to test the valve, found that it didnt work. I replaced that valve, the check engine light never came back on.

They are a very friendly place and the people are awesome and they know what they are doing!! I’ve never had anything to complain about because they always seem to get it right!!! I will go here always for my repairs 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

I stopped in unexpectedly because I had an issue with my bicycle kickstand not working properly. They were cull if smiles asked ne what I needed and just as soon af they could safely stop what they were in the middle of, checked out my problem and solved it for free. Did not make ne feel like an interruption. Good people!!

I went to a different shop to have some work done on my car and was told it would be $1200.00 to fix all the problems. No way I could afford it! A friend recommended Tunex do I gave them a try and found out that there were fewer problems than I was told and the repairs would be just over $200. I was ecstatic!!! The repairs were done quickly for me and my car is running amazing now!!!! Love the guys at Tunex!!!!

Words cannot describe the costly, frustrating experience I had at the Layton Tunex on Antelope. The car was overheating, after $3750 in repairs the car still has heating problems. Cylinder head repaired, intake manifold, new radiator, etc. I am quite sure they didnt know what the problem was and they just kept guessing on the repairs, and charging me for it. Also the price of the parts and labor were excessive, $29.99 for a gallon of coolant, $120.00/hr for labor, just to name a couple. I will never go to this Tunex again for any repairs, and I suggest you go somewhere else for your vehicle repairs unless you have money, and time to waist!

Ive been using Tunex on antelope for 5 years now and never had any kind of problem they remember my vehicles I just call make an appointment and bring the vehicles in they let me know whats wrong and how much it will be, fair honest work if ya ask me

This place robbed my Freon out of my ac even though I had 1lbs in there when they tested it. Now I have to waste another hour and a half of my day to go back and have them fill what they should have left in there! Wasted my time and money.

Had already done a lot of work to my camaro before bringing it into the Layton location. My concern when bringing it in was hat there was an intense and excessive vibration under all conditions and circumstances. All my motor mounts were new or close to it, yet they tell me that one of my mounts was the wrong one and my engine and transmission was cockeyed(keep in mind I have a firebird with the same exact setup as well). This didnt make much sense but they were adamant about it even though I knew their diagnosis was 1000% incorrect. After waiting a few days (after I gave permission for them to do the work) someone tried stealing it in their care. Now being a former shop employee even I know not to leave a damn camaro outside when no one is around. Kept making me wait saying the police told them to. After that they ended up fixing everything the guy trying to steal it broke but left me with the bill and not to mention the inconvenience of the guy working on my car quitting (probably for the best) so they tried telling me that they werent going to do anything with it but they finally found out what the problem was. its almost Christmas and this is where my Christmas money went. Then after begging and pleading with them to just do the damn work they said to take it to a Chevy dealership over an issue that any mediocre tech could fix with a lift. Taking to Burt brothers tomorrow because I have a better working relationship with them and not to mention they will fix the actual problem along with my clutch and flywheel if it needs it for the same exact price that these people offered. All that needs to be done is the transmission needs to be pulled out and two of the engine-trans mating bolts need to be drilled/tap&died out which just isnt that hard I just dont have the knack for it as well as other people do. Was going to keep my mouth shut but when I have to pay out money for someone elses negligence and lack of sympathy for another human being not to mention not even doing their job right at any time, Im gonna say something. Tim was very kind and tried his best to be understanding but I dont take kindly to the owner here. Shady ass businessman for sure. If you want an honest shop, go to Burt brothers in bountiful or meineke on hill field road. Just about every other shop up here is a joke.

My check engine light was on so I took it to AutoZone to get it checked out, they told me it was the EVAP emissions system. I then took it to TUNEX to get it fixed, they ran a diagnostic test which cost $80. They told me it was the fuel sensor and that it would cost me $500. I am not familiar with cars so I trusted that that was the problem and that they would fix the problem. I get home and wake up the next morning to a flat tire that has a new screw pierced in it. I have to call in to work and miss a day to take it to Discount Tire and get it fixed. Thanks TUNEX. I drive my car for a couple days and the check engine light comes back on. I just took my car up there to get it fixed because I had just paid $500 for this problem to gone. They tell me the code is for EVAP emission systems and that it is a different problem. I tell them no, that was the original code that was thrown. Josh then tells me that the fuel sensor has nothing to do with the evap emissions system, so now I am wondering why I spent $500 to get my fuel sensor changed when it had nothing to do with the original code of EVAP emissions. Needless to say they were going to charge me AGAIN to fix a different problem and needless to say I am not willing to spend an arm and a leg to get my car fixed AGAIN. No, I would not recommend them. I had a terrible experience. I guess I should throw in that I am a girl who just moved here from Texas and had no one to turn to to help me fix my car so I trusted them and it really hurts to know that I was taken for a ride and ripped off.

I was told the work would cost around 600 less than I paid. At least the have a longer parts guarantee than the dealer.
