I needed some locks with keys, I called there to see if they had them and if they delivered. The man that I spoke with was very polite and honest when he told me their delivery charge...eighty dollars. I thanked him very much for his honesty but declined the offer. Truth spoke volumes with me. Ace Hardware. Thank you.💪

Finally got those 3 keys that I needed to copy at the back of the store. Service was quick and I was on my way. Store looks clean and well ordered and the clerks will tell or show you just where things are.And yes, all the keys worked.

One of the better Ace stores in the area. Found what I needed after getting some help from the employees working. The prices are a bit high but you are paying for the convenience.

The difference between Ace and the big box stores is the helpfulness of the staff. There are usually plenty of people available and most are enthusiastic about helping you. Notably today was Justin. Super helpful.

The gentleman was extremely rude when asking for a propane fill, and was trying to push exchanges. When I explained I wanted it filled instead he got snarky and was like “well it will be a minute because other customers are in the store.” Might as well just say take your money elsewhere. Didn’t grab his name but he was on older white man with dark grey hair. Maybe 6 ft 1. Otherwise the cashiers were extremely personable and the store was nice.

Worst ownership in retail. The owners are the REASON for government regulation, as without it they would work you like modern slaves. No benefits, bare minimum sick days (3), berating of staff, challenge EVERY workers comp. Just evil owners.

Lafayette Ace Hardware is overall a good store, if you can get the right person to help you. It is well stocked and has some do dads you dont need but might enjoy. The main issue with the store is the parking, which is limited. There are always a lot of work trucks (which is a good sign) in the lot but many times you have to restore to the restricted street parking. It is still worth the adventure into the store. If your not sure, call ahead and make sure they have what your are looking for and see if they can put it in will call for you or who you should ask for to find it easily.

Id prefer to support independently owned local business. Especially over big box retailers. Lafayette Ace offers hot and cold customer service & limited supply of certain items. I needed a bushing for a hose bib. Instead of stocking these, they only sell complete replacement hose bibs. They expect the customer to purchase a $10-$15 item instead of a part that should cost less than $2.00.

Great experience all around but the lines were moving a little slow for the early am working crowd. Hard to plan for that, and the staff did a great job with the resources on hand.

They had exactly what I was looking for when I needed it. A friendly associate asked me what I was looking for as I walked in the door and told me exactly where to find it. Very friendly staff and a large inventory. I was starting to leave when I asked about a remote key for my car. A few minutes later they had one programmed and I was on my way..

Nice store

First time in the store today and likely the last. Asked middle aged female employee wearing glasses where I could find something and she looked at me with annoyance for about five seconds without saying anything. Then, still without addressing me directly - I asked politely - she deferred to another female employee who told me what aisle and kept walking. I had no idea what exactly I needed, didn’t get the help I asked for, and left frustrated. I wasn’t about to ask a third employee. I don’t shop for prices - I shop where I’m treated well. Or at least decently. I’ll drive to Walnut Creek from now on.

Everything wedged into this small store you can want. Parking is tricky. The staff are very helpful and work hard to get you in and out. If you dont see what you need just ask.

Fine local hardware store. Pretty good selection of basic home improvement stuff. A small annex on other side of car wash next door stocks some bbqs and lumber. No real outdoor center with plants and such. Store not as large or the selection of ace on Olympic in Walnut Creek

A Top Shelf Ace Hatdware franchise for sure....the staff is very helpful. One gentleman can sharpen his phone skills and know that most nowadays have cell phones and calls will drop in and out....no need to count how many times you said yes to my question I did not hear you answer....due to bad reception.

This place is the best! They have a great selection, good prices, and are super-helpful. I try to use them whenever I can. They are a true resource in the community.

The people are very friendly here, but the store is not stocked as well as some of the other ACE stores around the bay area. I went recently to get some small screws for electronics project, and learned of the smallest screw they carry is a 4-40! Some of the staff also had very little knowledge of what the store carried.

Employees were not knowledgeable in several departments. Was put on hold another day for over 5 minutes waiting to be transferred to a department. Had to hang up and call again and was told they didn’t know the answer as it was not their dept. and was told need to transfer me to customer service. Found better help at another Ace HW store. Won’t go back.

After trying to source some lightbulbs online, I called the manufacturer directly. They could not sell in small quantities and also to someone not a retailer however, they could refer me to two local retailers.Me calling my local (Oakland) Ace Hardware, after the manufacturer told me they shipped my specialty halogen bulb there: No maam, we dont know if we have these light bulbs. We have a lot of light bulbs. We have Halogens. Youll have to come in and look for them.Me calling 10 miles away to Lafayette Ace: What is the part number? Ill be right back. (A few minutes later) Yes, its in stock and the price is $xx. I asked how many they had. About eight. Me: Ill take them all. Lafayette Ace: Would you like me to check for more? Me: Yes, if you have ten I would like them. They are difficult to find.The gentleman put them aside for me. Customer service here is high level.

This place is my go-to stop for hardware when my local Ace is missing something. They manage to pack a ton into this tiny store and the staff are always amazing. I dont know what the owner threatens them with but they are always smiling and eager to help (just kidding about the threats). Great for those purchases you need to make that dont require a long trip to Home Depot.

Went here a couple days ago and had a rude encounter with an employee...older gentleman with white hair in the garden section. There was a stepping stool left by the product needed and couldnt reach so i used it to grab the petes moss that was pushed all the way back. The employee can from around the corner and asked me what i was doing so I told him that I just got what I neede. He then began to scold me, told me not to do that. It was very rude. If i find the guy i will update with a photo and name
