Very friendly and helpful staff and the food was delicious. They only have pancakes on the weekends but they were fluffy and yummy. Atmosphere is cozy and reminded me of a Brooklyn cafe.

This place is beautiful, very good taste in decorating the indoors and the patio. Its a relaxing setting. The food is very good, I had a BAT, (bacon arugula and tomato) and and oatmeal cookie, both very tasty . The service is superb and friendly. Highly recommend it.You will be missed. Gracias!

This is a hidden gem in Journal Square! Everything is really delicious and the staff are really nice the decor is beautiful :-) I just wish they used real silverware and plates to make the experience a little bit more comfortable and to help the environment. If they did that I would go much more!

Very friendly and welcoming! Everything is fresh to order and from local farms. The parking a little difficult since it’s street parking but, the food is worth it! You can also create your own omelets! But I will say try everything on the menu and you’ll fall in love with this place!

Great small cozy cafeteria. Good breakfast dishes, specially their Avocado toasts. Coffee was good too. They have indoor and outdoor sittings. Very friendly staff. A bit expensive for the area but worth it. It closes at 4pm, wish that was not the case. Otherwise I love this cozy cafeteria.

Nice little spot to enjoy breakfast or lunch.I ordered the avocado toast with two poached eggs and cauliflower it was delicious! My fiancé and me shared the blueberry pancakes they were fantastic too.Overall a great spot to enjoy and relax.

Really cute cafe with delicious breakfast and lunch served all day. Its not a large place so seat may be limited but if youre in, youre in for a treat. I had the breakfast arepa (Gluten Free option) which was beautiful to look at and deliciously seasoned! I also had the chai latte with coconut milk. Delicious!

The sweet-potato salad (with turkey) and the Iced coconut almond matcha latte were very good, kind and warm staff as well

I absolutely love this gem of a place. They are only opened on Saturday for the foreseeable future because they are involved in much needed community service due to the pandemic (kudos!) To the reviewers who say that it is too pricey: First, compared to other GOOD brunch spots, no it’s not; and second, you get what you pay for. The food here is delicious and creative and in my opinion, well worth the price. You will not find your typical BEC sandwich here.

The food here is INSANELY GOOD. My friends and I absolutely loved it. Next time we are here, this will be our first AND last stop. I got the chorizo and manchego sandwich and the secret is all in the sauce. Its tangy with a dash of spicy. The bread is the perfect combination of soft and toasted. My friends had the Spaniard and the grilled cheese. Also winners. The Spaniard is especially fantastic; the hint of jasmine in the basmati rice is so pleasant. The butternut squash and black bean soup were also great. And the pastries! I could honestly go on and on. Great food, cute place, very kind staff... do yourself a favor and go here!! I need it to do very well and stay in business until I can come back to Jersey City!

I’m not posting this review to comment on Square One‘s food or the welcoming space where you can get a delicious meal or cup of coffee on the go or in a more leisurely manner. Rest assured, the food is truly delicious, the staff is friendly, and the indoor and outdoor spaces are inviting and comfortable. No, I came here instead to commend Square One for its innovative and important work during the global pandemic. Rather than focusing on how to stay afloat or even make a profit these past many months, the owners directed their attention and skills outward, thinking about where their talents are needed. They pared down their business hours and have spent the vast majority of their time feeding those in need in Hudson County, for FREE. This is the sort of community-minded, socially responsible business that I want to support. We need more business owners like Mory and Nick, who are always thinking about how to make our community better.

A great experience. Its much smaller than I expected but there is plenty of outdoor seating. Good food, great service, clean attractive shop with local artwork. Even the bathroom is well decorated!

Stopped in here for the first time for breakfast and I got the signature sandwich and my husband got the momma G. Both were delicious and really hit the spot! Will certainly be back.

Booked the venue for a small birthday party for my wife back in December (the Before Times). The menu was excellent and accommodating for her vegetarian dining needs and they were easy to communicate with for both the planning and the payment for the event.

I just love this place ! If I lived in the neighborhood, would be here all the time. Such friendly service, great vibes, and of course- yummy food! Have not made it to try lunch options, but breakfast is always great!

Service is great. Staff is very helpful. They always have a good variety and food is always made fresh to order. When I am in town I try and stop through. Each time I have been able to make it I have always been pleased with my food selections.

I have lived in this neighborhood 28 years and this is easily my favorite breakfast spot in Jersey City. Please dont change anything Square 1.... I love The Spanard.. and my girl Adena created a custom sandwich. BACON lettuce tomato turkey and egg on toasted rye... My heart and tummy are happy. Thank you Jesus

Great neighborhood eatery and coffee shop with plenty of hot (and cold) beverages and healthy food options. The roast turkey sandwich features delicious caramelized onions and a sweet fig mustard.

Good Healthy food, coffee is perfectly simmered! This place is the only decent food joint around that area, their spinach and cheese panini is mouth watering!

Ive been to this place twice and loved it already. Must try the Earth Platter, totally worth it. I am not a vegetarian neither someone who is all crazy about vegetables but I fell in love of with this salad (platter). Their breakfast sandwiches are tasty and homemade. Go for the Chorizo if you feel like going for something beefy.

The service was awesome and the food as well, but the coffe was not. They need to train their baristas about espresso extraction, steaming milk and milk temperature. The cappuccino I got was way too hot and that causes milk to break its natural sugar and the taste was bitter so I can tell the coffee was overextracted. Although I changed my cappuccino for a drip coffee, the barista was really nice and changed it. I do appreciate things like that, because you can teach about coffee but cant teach about manners. Love this place, have never had a bad meal here! Everything is homemade, even the bread on the sandwich I ate. Spectacular baked goods, delicious menu items and specials. Love the coffee too. They have gluten free options, which is nice because my friend has Celiacs.

The wait for brunch was over an hour long, finally when we get inside theres another line to get to the register. They only take cash and debit card, that being said... Id just returned from a trip and wanted to stay somewhere fairly local. Id been reading all of the when are they going to open drama in Eater, so I figured it was time, now that they were open, to check them out.

Just moved to the area, and happened upon this wonderful little spot! I fell in love with it immediately and I have since returned with friends and family. I cant recommend this place enough. The food is fresh and yummy and the atmosphere is calm and fun ♥️

This is one of my new favorite breakfast/lunch spots. Also its in Journal Square area which is a great plus! Its a bit hidden in a side street past journal square.I have been here a couple of times now. I have tried the ice coffee, roast beef sandwich, and the loaded avocado toast (see the yelp pic to understand what I mean lol). All were delicious and I will definitely be having again. The ice coffee is a bit light but does the job.Service is really good here. Workers are personable and come to check on you as well. They also do a good job of keeping the place clean. Last thing I love here are the large picture windows and the immense amount of sunlight this place gets. Really sets you in a good mood on a beautiful day. Parking is a bit tricky here as this is a residential neighborhood.Also they are very dog friendly and even have a jar on the side with doggie treats, so bring your best friend along!

Excellent for health conscious people but also has equally delicious not so healthy options.Avacado toast a la carte was perfect, didn’t lack flavor at all ( If you choose to add the omelette on top and want something more than just plain eggs, I recommend requesting that they cook the omelette with whatever you want inside of it)Omelette was fluffy, fresh, super filling and sooo yummy! Also tried their vegan, gluten free blueberry oat muffin (asked them to warm it up a bit) SO GOOD!Also has outdoor seating on the side of the restaurant in a garden looking area. Super cute, kinda romantic ♥️

Was working by this place today in Jersey City and huge disappointment! Not only they charge 8$ for a bacon and egg lol but when I tried to pay with cash they denied my order cause she didn’t have change . Also littered with flys all over the brownies. So maybe it was the universe saving me from getting food here

I waited 20minutes just to get my mocha latte. How disappointing. I went in the morning around 9 and I was the 1st to order yet people coming in after me and she finished all the orders first (about 4 customers) before making my coffee..........

Although parking is a nightmare in this area the food and people were phenomenal. We tried their tea and vegetarian sandwich. We sat in the back yard of the place which was adorable, had extra seating since we were a large group. The service checked on us often and were very kind.

Was passing by this place from 2-3 years and today made a stop here and it was not a waste.!

The first time we came here the cold brew was the bottom of the container and was very chunky. We decided to try again and the cold brew was not chunky, but insanely bitter and ended up making me sick for the remainder of the day.Not only is their coffee inconsistent, the staff was not overly friendly. One team member who appears to be the boss( or they are just bossy) is not kind to the other employees.
