Had their turmeric latte previously and it was a little strong for me, so I asked the barista in training if the Black Sesame Latte was good. She highly recommended it and it was extremely delicious! A great alternative for the usual coffee/tea and caffeine free. Service was super nice and fast which I appreciated as I was in a hurry.
Good fast cappuccino. Baked good fine but not super fresh. Downtown area growing fast
Really chill place, nice staff, quick service, good coffee. I only had one cup (the Japanese cold brew) so I cant say much more but nothing at all to complain about!
2 stars cos the baristas were pleasant enough, but unfortunately the coffee was terrible. Latte had no crema and was just white frothy milk.
Great coffee! and creative flavors.
One of the most loved shop that opens actually early! I like their avocado toast and the ambiance is so great. The avocado toast was scrumptious, with a decent measure of fixings included and the bread was toasted well. Their espresso was alright, and the mark one is a bit unreasonably sweet for me. Best shop for a decent chill place promptly in the first part of the day. I will return to attempt a greater amount of their espresso later on.
I used to buy coffee there at least once a week, but recently I came there without mask and they refused to sell me a coffee. (Even that I’m fully vaccinated). This is ridiculous at this point. Luckily, here are bunch of other coffee shops that don’t have this policy.
Matcha Latte and Chocolate Croissants are my go to and they are on point here. Awesome service as well. Especially, Lance who helped me purchase some awesome Japanese BBQ sauce and Truffle Hot Sauce for my munchies!
Good coffee, reasonable price
Delicious chai latte. Only reason for 4 stars- $5.50 for a small which is a little pricy but extremely tasty. I’m excited to go back and try their Japanese Style Iced Coffee!
Staff was discriminatory towards a customer. Very disappointing to witness in the world today.
The coffee is delicious there. I wish the service was warmer.
Well, its 4.47pm and I was told she already started cleaning the coffee machine, so I couldnt get a latte. Why say youre open till 5pm if youre unable to serve coffee. Ridiculous service.
Cozy coffee place in JC. My go-to for something nice over the weekend
A great place to sit down for a few minutes when weather is nice. Their hours is not full time, the coffe is organic but tastes ok. Menu has many choices. Prices are in the top range for a coffeeshop. Chairs are not comfy but there are different styles. Cashier is not welcoming which is surprising for a small coffeeshop.
Highly Recommended. Especially to those to love drink coffee.
One of my favorite shops in the area. Their iced coffee is great.
Delicious sandwiches and pastries!
Amazing vibe inside! The best Iced Coffee I have ever had (Iced Vanilla Bean Cinnamon Coffee). Great place to study and amazing music :)
Nothing to complain about. This place has an awesome feel to it.
Their espresso was alright, and the mark one is a bit unreasonably sweet for me. Best shop for a decent chill place promptly in the first part of the day. I will return to attempt a greater amount of their espresso later on.This place has a great vibe and very unique coffee and coffee-based drinks. Check out the Dinocinno!
Best iced coffee latte around the neighborhood. Strong and tasty.
Loved it!! Went with the suggested ‘Turkish coffee’ with honey and turmeric + a ‘Pineapple’ toast with chilli flakes!!! And so glad I took the suggestions!! Great food and welcoming ambience.Def coming back!!
Their Japanese Style Iced Coffee is a great summer drink (light, bright, and cool). They have some open-faced sandwiches and some various sourced pastries. Its my favorite spot for satisfying a tuna craving and getting some light work done. They have a decent amount of outlets and seating but it can get packed so groups and couples would be tough to accommodate during peak periods.
It was my first time here, ambiance was great. Coffee tastes very nice initially. In the end, it tasted very gross. Couldnt even finish it. Havent had this experience before anywhere else.. Seems like some issue with coffee quality or brewing pot.. Also there was no regular sugar there, used sweetener. That affected the taste a bit too..
Best tasting coffee on this side of town. Staff is courteous as well. Thanks for coffee and the great service guys!
Best local cafe, tasty coffee latte and fabulous matcha latte.
Great artisal coffee, with a great space. I wouldnt say this is an everyday coffee place, with the price point - but does have its place. Slow service loses the star.
One of my favorite cafes in the area. Dont come expecting latte art or anything but do enjoy some quality coffee, tasty snacks, a decent tea selection in a cozy, stylish space. Bonus for some outdoor seating when the weather cooperates!
Pretty good coffee, and decent place. The music can be too loud. I was told that management called to request the volume be increased and if I didnt like it to leave. Ive never had a customer service person get belligerent that quickly and disproportionately over two polite, reasonable requests. If you require a quiet place to work, they dont want your business.
Lackawanna makes an awesome cappuccino, and Ive never seen as many distinct milk options in one place at a time. The drinks arent cheap, so I normally tend to order one of their specialties to have something unique (the turmeric latte is one of my favs), and the baked goods are a always a tasty treat if youre in the mood.
My favorite local coffee shop, tucked away from the hustle and bustle.
Hit or miss, their milk portions are sometimes too high... Sometime I love it and sometimes Im saddened I paid 6.. plus a tip for milk on ice. :(
Great local spot for light breakfast and coffee. Fare prices and delicious pastry. Try apricot cheese danish, it will blow your mind!
The location is a bit off the beaten path but was hopeful due to the decent Google rating. At first entry it looked like the quintessential hippie coffee bar - exactly what I wanted. Organic coffee... great! The first time I go to any new coffee shop I be sure and just get a regular coffee so I dont cover it up with steamed milk (latte, cappuccino, etc), or any syrups or chocolate like a Mocha. At first I liked the coffee but toward the end of my cup it seemed to contain a bit of a rancid flavor. Like a moldy taste. Unfortunately coffee is very prone to molds and toxins. So although it was organic, the quality and handling the beans seemed to be affected. The place has promise and it could have just been that batch, the coffee pot, or other factors which is why Im giving it 3 stars as the underlying ambiance of the place along with initial taste was great.
They serve up a really delicious cup of coffee. Ive never tried the food options, but the place always smells of baked sandwiches and coffee being roasted. YUM. The staff is friendly and the tunes are great.
Good coffee with a variety of options. Love the blueberry vegan muffins. A tad bit pricey.
Its cool, little over priced. Interesting drink choices. I tried the the Turkish iced coffee...pretty good although if I come back, Ill rather get something else.
Really good food at reasonable prices. Can take a while sometimes - but never regretted the wait. Coffee seems fine too.
Great coffee! Lattes are absolutely fantastic! Really cool small coffee shop that is homey. Staff is very friendly.
One of the spot that opens really early! I like their avocado toast and the atmosphere is so hippy. The avocado toast was tasty, with a good amount of ingredients added and the bread was toasted well. Their coffee was ok, and the signature one is a bit too sweet for me.Best spot for a nice chill place early in the morning. I will come back to try more of their coffee in the future.Overall a good neighborhood cafe.
Intelligentsia coffee served in a very cool space in the Warehouse District. We tried Japanese-Style Iced Coffee, iced tea, and a chocolate chip coffee. Theres several communal tables inside and plenty more seating outdoors. Very chill, friendly spot.
Awesome! Bring your tumblr for extra large refills. :-)
Absolutely loved my Vanilla Chai Latte. I’m not what you would call an avid coffee drinker or a coffee connoisseur but I can at anytime get a vanilla chai latte or tea. And the one from here that I purchased was amazing. Nice scene they have going on. Would recommend it to anyone that’s in the area or to any coffee people out there.
This is a cozy place. They have very well done small dishes. Seems very popular with younger folks with their notebooks and ear pieces on. Friendly service.
OK coffees here and good pastries. I have 3 main criticisms:1. Its REALLY slow here, even when it seems quiet and they have 3 staff. Dont come up here if youre a hurry! NOTE TO MANAGER: this makes it less likely Ill come back, even though I live nearby and love the location.2. The toasted sandwiches really arent that good. Like not cafe quality, as far as Im concerned.3. Coffees are OK, though Id appreciate a have here option with a real cup/mug/glass to make it feel slightly classier and reduce waste
Great panini or if it;s early get some toast with avocado, yum. this place opens real early too which is nice.
This place has a great vibe and very unique coffee and coffee-based drinks. Check out the Dinocinno!
My favorite coffee place in the entire world. They have the best coffee, original playlists and amazing sandwiches, some pastries and great teas. Friendly and relaxed serving. Not too pricey, and a cool interior design. Can get a little crowded at times tho. Not too much healthy lunch options like salads, if I have to give a downside.
I used to be a huge fan of this place whenever I ventured across the river to JC. My last few visits have been a huge disappointment. While the coffee is good, the environment is lacking. Difficult to sit down and work for an hour or two with all of the pesky flies and bugs (fruit flies, I believe) flying around. The worst. They’ve taken over the pastry case, crawling all over the food (see video). Yet, staff doesn’t seem to care. While I like the location and the coffee is decent, unless I’m grabbing a cup of joe to go, doubt I will return. Starting to question the cleanliness of this establishment.
I live nearby and come here often. Coffee is decent. Food is pretty good. If you order food be prepared to wait. My complaint isnt with the wait. My issue is with the lady that gave me major attitude today when i asked how much longer it would be for my avocado toast to be ready. I spent 25 minutes waiting so i think i was justified for asking. I wasnt rude or obnoxious to her, i was simply inquiring. I stead of answering my question She felt the need to give me a condescending explanation about how there were other orders ahead of mine. And then i hear the two employees complaining to each other about having to be stern with the customers. How about being kind and apologizing for the wait? Nothing worse than spending your money somewhere where its clearly not appreciated. I’ll go somewhere else next time.
Usually a quiet place for some coffee and quick food, avacado toast is great.
Theres a Dunkin, a Starbucks, and even a Krispy Kreme within the same distance (or less) from my office as Lackawanna is, but as anyone who loves coffee knows, these arent even a choice when it comes to real quality drinks. Lackawanna makes an awesome cappuccino, and Ive never seen as many distinct milk options in one place at a time.
Very slow service. Waited for about 30 min for an egg sandwich which was given to someone else. Good coffee/food. Poor Service.
A nice little neighborhood cafe. Has some great tea collection. Finding a spot may be hard with it becoming popular
One of my favorite cafes in the area for a cappuccino! Good quality coffee, finger foods/sandwiches and a decent tea selection. Its hip, energetic and has wi-fi if you want to do some work. Not the best for phone calls since the music is on the louder side. Definitely a place to meet-up with friends over the weekend. There is outdoor seating when weather is nice and usually a water bowl for furry friends.Service is good. Staff is ok. Not everyone who works there seems happy to be there (or greets you with a smile). Nonetheless, they make delish coffee!
Nice, quiet place with good quality coffee. The stuff is not specifically welcoming though. Its a really good alternative to the surrounding crowded coffee shops in the area, if you are ready to walk 10 minutes more.
Friendly, welcoming, and extremely low key atmosphere here considering that caffeine is their craft. Very tasty savory plates as well as sweets. I thought it a bit haughty that a note at the sugar bowl asked me not to add sweetener to the espresso until I tried it. Not for nothing, I know my espresso, and I like a few grains of sugar in it, I thought. Then I tried it. Whoa, that is a grind apart from what Ive been drinking. Now I buy my beans here for home consumption. One reviewer complained that the Warehouse Cafe is surrounded by emptiness. Frankly I love the Powerhouse Arts District with its old warehouses and early 20th century, industrial feel.
Cozy little place. Ordered the flat white/cortado. It was okay.
Get staff amazing rustic feel....5 star
One of the best coffee shops in the area, good coffee and reliable Wi-Fi also. Can get a bit crowded on the weekends but its en enjoyable space.
Reliable wifi. Clean bathrooms. The tastiest egg salad sandwich I have ever had. Oh and coffee.
Fantastic coffee place with great food selection. Rustic atmosphere. Very relaxed.
The ham & cheese (jamon & queso as on menu) with the strawberry preserves is really tasty. Nice balance of sweet and savory. Good cup of coffee in a gentrifying warehouse hood. A bit on the expensive side. $9 sandwich, but its quality. So you definitely are rewarded with a good portion and quality ingredients.
Love this place. Great for coffee, chai, hot chocolate, food, and getting work done. Highly recommend the avocado toast and the jamon sandwich. Very nice and friendly staff, mostly excellent music, always clean and the wifi works. Also has nice outdoor seating for when the weather is nice.
Coffee is great! You have various options for milk: macadamia, almond, oats, and regular milk.
Really great food. Good ingredients and very good coffee. There was no low carb options but the food was still awesome.
The place is packed on the weekends, but they have some tasty bites and decent drip coffee.
The coffees as good as advertised, and the decor and service make this place feel welcoming. But the music and the A/C cranked to 11 do the opposite. They could dial down the hipness while theyre at it.
Best coffee Ive found so far in Jersey City. The tranquil corner of Jersey City also makes it a great place to sit down and enjoy a lazy afternoon. Both outdoor and indoor seating. Pastries and food menu available too.
Mildly unremarkable hipster joint with a wide selection of organics and fancy stuff to please the gluten-free, fair-trade, organic foofoo crowd.Came here around mid day and got a small Cappuccino and a Cherry - Oatmeal cookie to enjoy on their outdoor seating area. This is a huge plus as real estate is at a premium and it was too stuffy with hipsters inside.Outside theres not much to look at since theres demolition in progress across the street. Luckily, its a beautiful day so being in the sun lifted my spirits. The Cappuccino was actually decent and the cookie, just soft enough with a crunch. Id come back at a different time of day to try their sandwiches.Hopefully Ill find parking again then.
Simple and good. I like the lounge music they play. Great coffee.
I love this place. Great coffee. But music is very loud.
A cozy little shop! There’s a couple of location in Downtown jersey city, but this one is a little tucked away and this not as crowded as the one on Grove st!
Nice spot for coffee in JC with a good ambience. Has indoor and outdoor space... good place to work from when needed.
As Hipster as it gets. Felt like I had joined hippie commune with the Jobless and freelanced yesterday afternoon. Pretty good coffee, and much more on the menu I didnt explore.
Long wait, ‘interesting’ latte art, very light coffee, but environment is good.
Love their selection and the Turkish coffee was great
Such a great cute spot in Jersey City. Coffee and open face toasts are legendary.
Intelligensia Coffee is pretty good. A nice place to work on a project on the weekends.
Cute little spot, great to work in. Nothing to blow you away but plenty to like about it.
Comfy little place, delicious coffee. Nice atmosphere . Conveniently located less than three blocks from the HBLR .
Until recently, I was only familiar with the Lackawanna Coffee located on Grove Street. This particular location is roomier, which is a big plus for those looking to sit down and do some work. The big windows also afford it more light. Theres plenty of outside seating and little or no traffic. Hence, theres barely any noise or distractions. As for the cafes offerings, I loved their Turkish iced latte, with honey and cardamom. Its delicious! The tartines are a good option if youre hungry. I was disappointed, though, to learn that they use Sabra hummus to make the hummus tartine. I thought it would be house-made or fresher.
Great local coffee shop. Worth checking out to do some work away from the office or home.
Every weekend early breakfast and coffee place. Love this place, pretty close to newport and hoboken. Their coffee is delicious, some great columbian beans. If you like to make your own beans, get the intelligencia beans from here. Also their chickpea sandwich is just too good and super healthy. Recommend!
I have been a loyal customer of this place for 7 years. Their coffee used to be the best in the neighborhood. But since they expanded to 2 locations the quality has dipped.Their Intelligentsia custom blends used to be on point. Over the past year or two they have been experimenting and I havent been thrilled with their picks. Maybe they have a new taster with different taste? Recently they switched to Partners coffee and its distinctly not as good.I will keep supporting Lackawanna because their coffee is still decent and I appreciate having them in the neighborhood. But I hope they keep trying new blends and can find some better ones.Aside from the coffee, I cant speak to the food service as I never order anything here that requires preparation. But Ive always found them friendly. As to the vibe - this is a working coffee shop. The Wi-Fi is pretty reliable. If you have kids who want to run around, either get a table outside or hit up Bucket and Bay across the street.
