I got their hot latte and it was good although I find that Counter Culture Coffee beans arent my favorite when it comes to espresso because it isnt as bold as I would like it to be. However the staff was friendly and location was good.

Dames is an amazing coffee spot. Their staff is super nice and their drinks are delicious. It’s located in one of my favorite JC neighborhoods too. Oh, and they also have some pastries!

Ordered the:1. Cafe Mocha, the perfect mix of coffee and chocolate that my girlfriend wanted!2. Pumpkin spice latte, a delectable way to welcome fall!3. Banana bread, to round it off with some soft wholesome goodness :)….and enjoyed all of them in the quiet garden behind the cafe on this lazy Monday afternoon.

Hands down best coffee shop in the neighborhood. You can tell Dames is family owned and cared for. The drinks are delicious and priced appropriately. The $1 brownie square goes perfectly with any coffee you order and the banana bread is simply outstanding. Dames is a downtown JC treasure. You can rely on friendly staff a good drink and a tasty snack. They do it all so well. Thank you Dames! If I could rate you a million stars I would!!

This might be my favorite coffee shop in downtown JC-- the drinks are great, and I love their staff! They have an adorable garden in the back, too, with lots of flowers and shade. Try the butterscotch latte or the strawberry latte, and their amazing pastries! Such a treasure.

Such a cozy place with amazing barista. They are not cash only. Idk maybe its due to pandemic, but they accepting apple pay and credit cards as well. Super cozy interior with the access to the back terrace which is so beautiful makes this coffee shop a very romantic place. They have different pastries such as croissants, brownies, banana bread, Apple pocket, muffins, and delicious coffee and tea. Also add Quiches and spinach omelette. Lovely place. They do serve a BUTTER SCOTCH late and its so good!! You should try it! And those mini brownies for $1 each!! So good! Will stop by again.

My favorite local coffee shop! Really great espresso drinks, they use counter culture beans. They also make really good flavoring! I’ve had their pumpkin and butterscotch lattes and they’re delicious. Their chai latte is also the BEST!!

The banana bread here is delicious and will come back for more! I really liked the atmosphere and the staff were very nice. I may order a different hot drink next time because the drip coffee was too strong for my taste.

Me and my girlfriend were in town for lunch. Afterwards we stopped by Dames for coffee. I searched top rated coffee and they were near the top of the list. Unsure what to expect, we were more then pleased! Very friendly. Coffee was amazing. Good assortment without being overwhelming. The baked good looked amazing. We each had a brownie, which were excellent! Everything is homemade. The chocolate in my Cafe mocha was made fresh from cocoa powder that morning. Definitely a hidden gem! Very reasonable, especially considering the quality. Would absolutely recommend to anyone who loves small private owned cafés. The owners were very friendly. Nothing generic here... A must go for anybody whos in the area. Please stop in and pay them a visit! Ill surely be back.

Our favorite coffee shop in Jersey City. Coffee and tea are excellent and the people there are always so nice. We moved to Paulus Hook a few months ago but keep coming back here because we like the place so much. And it feels good to support a local small business instead of a chain.

This place has amazing coffee. Additionally, the banana bread is homemade everyday and perhaps the best part of the menu.

I have been here two days in a row and I’m already obsessed. The banana bread is PRIME. The early grey tea latte, best tea latte I have ever had. The dirty chai, exquisite. The atmosphere is chill and cute and the patio out back is so nice. Wish I wasn’t just visiting from out of town and could make this my regular shop

Quick service, excellent quality and super tasty espresso drinks. Charming vibes inside and out. Outdoor seating in the back yard. A real neighborhood asset. Will definitely return for more lattes and americanos!

I’ve been coming to Dames for about 7 months now, almost daily. LOVE the customer service, every single barista is super friendly. I’ve grown to appreciate these ladies so much during these crazy times—a little smile and kindness goes a long way these days. I always get an iced oat latte with banana bread and my latte never fails. I love strong coffee and this serves. The banana bread is the best I’ve had and my waistline couldn’t agree more. The little garden in the back is icing on the cake. COVID19 procedures have been in place since March, very attentive to those needs. Love y’all!

Passing through the neighborhood and was looking for coffee! Cute little location with pastries and good coffee. Got two cappuccinos to go - they were sweet enough to offer a carrier so I didn’t have to balance everything. I imagine, pre-COVID, this was the cutest place to stay inside of for a coffee date.

Good coffee flavor but when a large Latte with soy clocks in at $7.20 you have to wonder where the hidden cameras are.

We found street parking right outside the restaurant, which was lucky, considering its pretty packed. Had to ask about 4 people if I was gonna get towed because no one actually drives around there. Understandably so :) and they were really nice about it.There was no wait at the time which is also lucky based on the reviews I read saying there is a 1+ hour wait often.

Went there on a really hot Sunday afternoon and ordered a hot flat white. The place was not too crowded and there was ample seating, although the chairs and high stools are not meant for sitting for too long 😉.The cofee though was good and because the place was not getting any busier, spent over an hour and ordered a second coffee.Enjoyed the place and would definitely go again.

Small spot, big yummy ness. Got the soy and oat milk cappuccino along with their banana bread. Cappuccino was good, soy was not to sweet. Banana bread is light, not to sweet either. Not too chewy either.I dont know guys.....I dont know. I have mixed feelings because the espresso is delicious. But my iced coffee was very weak, didnt pack any punch or flavor. It honestly tasted like watered down coffee. And I didnt add any milk or sugar in it either.

The regular iced coffee tasted not like coffee.I had to throw it out after a sip.The dirty chai latte tasted like cinnamon and couldnt taste any espresso.My suggestion is do not go here. I walked into the great smell of coffee and left with tastebuds unsatisfied

The barista could barely tell me anything about the coffee they had other than light roast. For the price, its mediocre. Also their lids leak/dont seal well which if Im paying more than $4 a cup is hard to excuse. Glad I had my reusable cup on me.

Delicious almond latte, pastries and quiche! The staff is extremely nice and the ambiance calm and relaxing. Not to forget the cool patio in the back :) Also, it is NOT CASH ONLY ANYMORE! It does take a little longer than regular coffe shops sometimes but it is worth the wait.

Very good coffee with a back patio. They also have home made Walnut bread and smoothies. It is usually quiet enough that working is possible.

Dames is hands down my favorite espresso bar in the neighborhood for two reasons - (1) intelligentsia coffee and creative uses thereof (2) best breakfast pastry options in the neighborhood, including what my partner calls, the DQ - delicate quiche (mushroom is his preference, I like the broccoli), a Spanish egg onion cake & various croissant (chocolate, plain, almond) options. All in a cute rowhouse with (notso) secret backyard space.
