Experience has definitely improved over the years, plus they dont put that horrible air freshener in the store anymore 😂. Still have bought used controllers in the past that have been extremely stiff and barely work, and while they replace them with another, the one they replace it with usually has similar issues.

These Disc Traders throughout Michigan are running a bit of a scam. I get that they have to make their money, and Im complaining about the amount they are buying used devices and then selling them at a much higher price. Thats the way it works. My issue is that I called 3 Disc Traders (Lansing, Battle Creek, Jackson) and they all told me a general value of what they will pay for my iPad. However, when I get there they are offering less than half of what they told me on the phone. Confirmed they think the model is the same one that I told them on the phone, and they cant tell me why the price I was given on the phone is so much higher than the actual price their willing to pay me for it.What I think their doing is telling people a amount over the phone to get them in the store, and then hoping theyll just take the amount they offer even though it is lower than what told them over the phone. Its a little bit of a scam as they are lying to customers over the phone in hopes that they are desperate enough when they get in the store. Will not be going back to any Disc Traders as outright lying to customers is one of my big nope never again situations.

Do they have a great selection, yes. Is the variety great, yes. Can they somehow justify selling a certain Sega title for $109 that isnt in original packaging not to mentioned, sealed, is an absolute shame. Not to mention the staff is apathetic at best. Ill keep going back because its easier than dealing with Game Stop...let that sink in.

Advertise that they pay top dollar for electronics, so figured Id sell them my 2 year old laptop that I paid nearly $1000 at time of purchase. Brought it in, was offered $115 (joke, right?). Asked to think about it, so came back and they oh so conveniently lost my original offer and tried to offer me $90 for it the second time around. Offering $90 when you all are going to turn around and sell it yourselves for $450 is a total rip off. Wont be back.

Very nice staff and fixed the problem. I bought an Xbox360 for $69.99 but it overheated the day I got it. They were nice enough to give me an older model with 200 gigs of storage and internet. Those would usually be sold separately but because of the inconvenience they gave it all to me for cheap and my store credit covered it. That was a miracle. Thanks so much :)

Wont do business with PC gamers....I brought in a sealed PC game and the clerk scoffed at me and informed me we dont do pc games... Thats just tooo bad I had 600$ i was gonna drop on some switch gear and games for my daughter but the high and mighty is too good for my wares.Maybe an AD adjustment needs to be made. Pay quite a bit to low for the games when trading in but prices when buying the prices are amazing for example I sold a brand new copy of the new Lego DC supervillains and got paid 3 dollars

Well we stopped in for a certain DVD, I tried calling first but the employee was only able to look up blue ray because looking up a DVD would crash their system. Staff was helpful and polite. A little disorganized for my taste, personally I like to look at movies all in one section instead of half on each end of the store.

Lets just say I brought in 3 perfect condition Xbox One games, and quite a few different good condition 360 games. Got 16 dollars, or 22 dollars in store credit. Chose credit. Friends said this place gets you a better deal than Gamestop. Service was friendly, but still got a bad deal. 2/5

I love old games and collectibles, so to have a place like this close is awesome. They have everything from current gen back to the Commodore 64. Plus every movie you can think of.

We visited on our trip to Jackson for the Yard Saleapalooza.They seemed to have a decent selection and the staff was friendly. We are a big game collecting family so we are always looking for random things.My son was happy to see that they still carried Disney Infinity characters and skylanders, as many places do not. We were able to find a lot of fun things to take home.My only complaint is that whatever air freshener (or maybe it was a scented cleaner/disinfectant) they were using was VERY over powering. I do not have breathing issues... and it bothered even me. My son is an asthmatic and it bothered him to the point he did have to leave the store and he and my boyfriend had to go sit in the car unfortunately. 😕

Tons of games, movies and electronics. They give a decent amount for trade ins also. I go there atleast once a week to see whats new and to check in.

Was in disc traders of jackson michigan friday october 15 2020, bought games and posters no problem, returned to disc traders sunday october 17 2020, and was refused service for not wearing a mask. When I stated I CANT wear a mask, the manager said to me i dont care its not my problem when i said i didnt have any problems friday when i was in here he then said, because i wasnt here or you wouldnt have gotten service then either. I will never return

Buying games here is amazing. I had to return 1 of 15 games. The games are like new. 👍🏻

Teenage son enjoys this store. He can trade in games he no longer wants and receive cash or credit towards purchases. Variety of games for all different systems that you are able to purchase used. This is a good option when you are interested in trying a game, but not paying full price. If game doesnt work you can return for another or cash back.

Was great had what I needed and was helpful when I called as usual

We went in one night around 20 minutes to close, feeling like last second jerks. We apologized to the staff and said we would be a few moments. They were friendly, we all enjoyed a nice conversation. And they were very helpful until we finished our transaction. Overall I love this place. Everyone is super friendly and they have an amazing selection of items. Thanks a bunch!

I order DVDs from amazon a lot, But recently I checked for titles at this store and was pleasantly surprised to find almost every single one of them! It saves me shipping and actually most of the movies cost me $3.33. You do have to eyeball the racks and racks of DVDs yourself, but I’ve been going to movie stores my whole life so I’m used to it. Much more “fulfillment” than I get from amazon

This place makes a lot of money off their customers

Bought headphones from this company with store credit from trade in. I asked before I purchased them if they could make sure they work. The answer I was given was that they test everything that comes in the store. I get home to charge the headphones and the button was broken. I returned them the next day as soon as I got out of work. Their was no issue with the return. I asked what happened to them and the manager to me that his store manager told him not to talk to me. He said he did not buy them that way and did not sell them to me that way but was gonna refund my money. Another worker came into the situation and said werent these new when we bought them . Something tells me that they never checked them. Poor customer service from the management of this company. The trade In went well and the the first person i worked with went well .

Would recommend against if you have a choice. Bought a switch from these guys. They were super nice and knowledgeable and they gave me a great price on my trade ins. The only reason for my low rating is when I got home about a 1hr and a half away I plugged it in and the right bumper on the joy con is shot. I wish they had done a more thorough check on the equipment before reselling it. I would suggest asking them to prove all parts work before you leave shop. Now Im either out 40+ bucks for a new controller or 40+ bucks in gas for a 3 hour round trip.

First time Ive been there. Employees were friendly and helpful. They also knew exactly what they were talking about when asked questions. Will definitely go back again when I can spend more time looking around.

This place was pretty good when it first came to Jackson. After awhile the service started to decline and workers became very rude and service declined. I’m a big gamer so a cheaper store was exciting, and some of the first games I got were great and worked and then it’s like they didn’t care about what they took in. I bought some games and they were terrible condition. I bought a PS4 from here and had to go back in 3 times for them to keep trading it out until I got one that worked. Used to be great, now not so much.

Disc traders is a great place! Besides the outstanding amount of good valued goods they sell, their staff is a great cast of people. They always greet me and create nice small talk when helping me out at the counter. Little things like this are what make a store great!

As of today I will no longer be giving Disc Traders Jackson or any other locations owned by the same people my business. This is due to a policy that was brought to my attention by a fellow collector in which Disc Traders will no longer honor coupons if they deem you to be a known reseller. I can see no logical reason for such a policy. It provides no benefit to the business or the community of people that purchased games at a store such as this. What does Disc Traders Jackson gain by preventing someone from using the coupon they earned? A few extra dollars on their bottom line at the cost of losing the respect and business of the very people who shop there? If someone reselling items they bought in your store eats into your bottom line that badly why on Earth would you have such a coupon system to begin with? How much money do you possibly save (or in this case likely waste) by policing what people do after they purchased something from your store? And as a collector myself and a member of several groups dedicated to the Hobby; we are all resellers your store is just a glorified reseller! If anything someone buying your items and selling them again online benefits people that dont have easy access to such things in a location such as yours. What exactly is your goal in preventing people from getting good deals at your store? You still get paid either way and its not as though a 20% discount makes for much profit after you factor in the sales tax thats calculated after the discount in addition to the cost associated with selling such items be it through shipping, PayPal fees, or eBay fees if you choose to sell there. the market self regulates and your prices are based on online sales anyway so Im not sure how there could be any real reason for you to do this other than being weirdly Petty about what people do in their spare time.The real kicker? the person that brought this to my attention isnt even really a reseller! The only things I have ever seen him sell after purchasing are consoles that he is modded with graphical upgrades or other functionality which you dont offer anyway. Outside of that Ive only ever seen him sell games he has owned personally for yearsIll be sharing this review across all of the collector groups I am in in addition to posting it to any of the disc Trader locations owned and operated by the same individual franchisees.

After working at disc traders for a little over a year, I must say its been one of the best environments you could work around. There were difficult customers time to time but also difficult employees. I cant wait to revisit in the future to see what improvements the new gm has made. Always will be a favorite place to buy games.

Love this store. We used to drive up to the Lansing store. But now that they have one here, we go all the time. The staff (Tyler) is super knowledgeable about products. They have a major assortment of games, movies, systems and electronics. Best prices you will find and incredible deals and specials all the time. The only place I will go for ent purposes.

Bought a guitar hero guitar for $20. They said it was for the 360. So I bought rock band 1 & 2 for 360 as well. Took it home, all excited to play and realized it was for PS3. While it is half my fault for not looking closely at the guitar before buying, it is also their fault for incorrectly labeling it, good thing I have a PS3 as well. I ended up going back today (a week later) to exchange the games for versions on ps3. They told me the guitar would automatically connect to my console after syncing. I had to look it up because I was having connection issues and realized it required a wireless dongle to connect. I tried calling them today to see if they had the dongle laying around and they would not let me finish trying to explain my situation to them. The guy on the phone kept interrupting me saying if youre having a problem with it bring it backThe employees here do not seem very well educated in their jobs.

Very good customer service. But need more movie selections. Not on their behalf its my fault. I think I bought them out of all the good movies lol. Im looking for some newer selections.

Past three discs I purchased here were too badly damaged to work and I had to return them for copies that did work. Seems like they try to pass off product that doesnt work on people before finally giving in and providing a working product. Didnt appreciate having to drive all the way back to Jackson three times to replace the discs I bought.

UPDATE : not sure what they changed but the smell has improved greatly.Really loved this store we use to come often and always leave with a few . Really helpful staff . Prices are decent. Great selection. Waiting in line doesn’t take long. Only reason for the 3 stars is the smell of the place lately, don’t even want to walk in to browse the smell is an instant headache like way too much cleaner. We avoided disc traders for awhile because of the smell but visited again tonight and it’s worse .

Disc traders is always a good place to go just to look around. Ill go in not anticipating Ill buy anything and I walk out with a game or two (or three). Staff is always super helpful and friendly.

Pretty fairly priced used games and consoles, DVDs and Blu-ray. Stock rotates often, so quality of your trip may vary depending on what they actually have on hand. Great place to find newer used games, but also retro titles, usually all in good shape. Staff are nice enough but can be hard to get their attention if you need something from a case.Also offers preorders, a small selection of new titles, other used tech (monitors, phones, tablets, etc), new third-party controllers, used game guides, posters, and other gamer/pop culture memorabilia.Also offers fair prices for trade-ins. Very convenient if you have a large collection that you want to offload for some cash.

So glad theyre doing buy 3 get 3 free now. I even got 4 TV series and the deal still applied. The staff wasnt overly friendly. And they didnt ask if I needed help until I was at the register. But the deals made up for it

Love them they are a great place to get all the games that you remember from your childhood. I do have some issues with how they price some of their games but for the most part they have very fair prices. They only check to see if the game is functional so there are often saves filling the old cartridge games a fairly easy thing to erase. They do need to do better cleanliness checks on both cartridges and consoles, I always pull both apart to do a full clean inside and out when buying anything, for example the L button in my GBA was stuck the unit itself worked fine after a quick cleaning there were absolutely no issues.

Staff is really helpful if you cant find something or if you want to know if they have something.
