AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!My wife went here to get her Virginia safety inspection done. They failed her car and gave us a quote of nearly $2000 to get it fixed. Naturally we were skeptical and went to another mechanic we know is very reputable to get a second opinion. Guess what? The car passed, theres nothing wrong with it whatsoever.Even more so, the car was serviced not long before by our usual mechanic so we knew nothing was wrong with it. To top it off they refused to put a failed inspection sticker on the car (claiming it already failed, it hadnt) yet charged us for it which we were told is in fact illegal.Well be reporting this place for fraud and urge you to never go here, not for your inspections, not for any repairs, not even for the emissions. They prey on people who dont know anything about their cars.

The service was excellent. Always find they are informative and make sure I understand what needs to be done versus what would be good to do. It did take several visits to complete work and ended up having to take Uber due to them keeping my car.

Incredibly friendly people even with me having such a bad day! Not only do they have automatic emails and text messages they have a portal and digitized invoices in your account its completely digitized which is very impressive. Although they were unable to change my oil because of a mechanical mistake the previous shop did, this was not their problem, I am still going to go to them again

Took my car in for state inspection - everyone was amazingly friendly. They took my vehicle with no appointment.They found a major fuel leak - so naturally I failed. But they were super nice and let the car for diagnostics.I ended up calling the dealership for my car and found that the fuel leak was a known issue and they would cover it. So I quickly called the shop back to see if I could cancel the diagnostic to avoid costs and pick up my car.They were super cool about it. Oh and they gave me a FREE shuttle lift back to my house.Great experience. I’d trust these guys with any problem. They are honest a polite.

Although there tend to be a bit of a wait here, if you are looking for a simple service, I recommend. Cant speak on behalf of much else. I dropped my car off for an oil change and inspection. When it was done (a few hours later as I was warned there was a wait), payment and pickup was simple and everything was smooth.

I drive a sports car with high performance tires on it... when I came in with a screw in one tire to see if it could be repaired, without even asking what tires I was currently running, it was suggested that I replace the tire with one from another brand, creating a handling no no... in addition to suggesting mixing brands on an axle, there was no consideration for the fact that the current 4 year old tires have 21K miles on them, which would also contribute to handling problems. I was extremely disappointed in the lack of professionalism by the service advisor and after over 20 years of tire business with this shop I took my business elsewhere (the other shop picked up on these issues immediately).

We just moved from Vienna to Herndon and this place is right down the street from my house. I brought my car in for VA Emissions and Safety, the gentleman who looked over my car and took my information was very pleasant and got me all checked in. He did not give me an estimate on how long it would take, just had me take a seat. Which was fine. After an hour my car was still sitting in the same spot I parked it in. Finally someone came and took it to the back for the inspection. I heard it go around the building and the engine revved loudly several times, I could hear my exhaust from the waiting room. About 10 minutes later a tech came in saying I could not get the inspection done because my car would not fit on their lift. They have an in-ground lift and the arms and pads are at least 4 inches off the ground. Now my car has been lowered .75 inches all around. I know plenty of stock ride height sports cars that will not fit over those lift arms. I asked to speak to the inspector and explain it would need to be put up by a standard floor Jack. He immediately told me that would be an automatic failure because my car does not meet the 9” ride height rule. I asked him to show me where he measures a 9” ride height from and to show me the statute in the law with that requirement. He blew me off yelled at me that he didn’t have time. I then speak to the manager who says I should go to their other store in Sterling because they have a lift that could accommodate my car. I took my key back and went to leave, my car was no where in sight so I had to ask the inspector where he parked it. He was visibly agitated and kept yelling at me to go see the manager to get my key back. I showed him the key in my hand and asked where the car was again for the fourth time while he yelled. He pointed in a general direction and yelled it was in the parking lot. Incredibly rude inspector and the absolute worst experience I’ve had trying to get my car inspected in VA. DO NOT USE THIS INSPECTION STATION. If I could give a 0 star rating I would.

I came in because I had a nail in my tire. It couldnt be patched, so they had to replace the tire. The tire was in the very next morning, and they did my state inspection and fixed my tire at a great price, it was quick, great quality service. Alex was very nice and helpful. Ill definitely be coming back here for any future repairs and more.

Great place with an awesome staff that will help you A-Z. I’ve been coming here for almost 2 years any time I need anything for my tires. Most recently, I needed 2 tires replaced and Charlie worked with me to coordinate a time to come by, helped to order what I needed, and walked me through the process. They were even able to save me a trip by doing my safety inspection during my appointment. It’s also awesome that they called me the next day to check in on my experience and thank me for my business. Love it here, thanks to all- especially Charlie!

Had a flat tire and needed to be somewhere at a certain time. They were able to take me in and get me out 15 minutes earlier than they anticipated. They also offered to provide a courtesy shuttle to take me back home and bring me back once the repair was complete. Overall, nice service and reasonably priced.

I came in about an hour and a half from close time, looking to get a tire patched and pick up the tire the next day. Realizing I was in a rush, they fixed the tire right then in under an hour. Top notch customer service, highly recommend.

Everyone I interacted with seemed very professional and went above and beyond what I would have expected as far as their customer service goes. I did a host of services on my car recently that includes Transmission fluid, power fluid change, battery etc....Service was awesome. They answered all the questions & did a good job. Clean location and clean waiting area.Their prices are slightly higher compared to the others I have used. I guess you pay more for a good service. Worth it. I will go again.

These guys are amazing! Can’t say enough great things. My boyfriend is currently active duty and spoke with Charlie over the phone to order my tire and patch job. When I arrived I was greeted by another gentleman who got me in the system and when Charlie saw the name on the account he instantly said “Hey! I’ve been talking to your boyfriend! How are ya? How is he with everything?!” Just like they had been friends forever. They took good care of myself and the car and upon leaving again Charlie said “Take care and tell Quentin I hope everything is ok with him and you need anything let me know!” Just awesome service, awesome people. Abit more money then a fleet mechanic but worth it if you want to be comfortable.

My wife took her 2014 Ford Escape with 68K miles for Emission and Safety inspection on 6/16/21. It passed Emission and failed Safety Inspection at Hogan & Sons, Herndon VA location.We were told that exhaust had leaks & estimated $1400 for repairs. We did not think their diagnosis was correct as we maintained the vehicle properly and the low milage of 68K miles.I got it inspected at another Auto Shop in Herndon on 6/26/22 and it passed safety inspection.Draw your own conclusions.

I was lucky to walk by the store while my kids were shopping and I asked if they would be able to look at my headlight, Charles Roehling was the most professional, kind, and helpful person. He quickly did an assessment and let me know that they could the bulb and fix my light within the hour. I was in and out within a half hour...Charles and the team kept me up to date on everything as they were working on my carl. What a great place and honest friendly service. Thank you all!

Went in for an oil change and they had several recommended services that I also do. I am very unknowledgeable when it comes to vehicles. Charlie was a huge help in explaining all of the services and what services should be prioritized. Will only go to Hogan and Sons for my vehicle maintenance now.

When I went to have my tires checked, Hogan & Sons found the tires were just low because of cold weather. But they then recommended replacing coolant and brake fluid, which they said were past due. This resulted in $336.15 in services which werent really needed, at least not now. After checking the owners manual, coolant replacement is recommended at 100,000 mi vs 53,080 on my odometer and there is no recommendation to exchange brake fluid. Even though the products they installed appear to be of good quality, they represent an unneeded expense. The moral of this story is Trust but verify before you agree to any services.

I went to Hogan & Sons for some general maintenance and they were great! Robert was so friendly, professional, and helpful. My issue was taken care of in less than half an hour.

I had a slowly leaking tire, and these guys immediately found the cause. Wally helped me get a pair of uncommon tires same day! Price was good, and the service was awesome. They even indulged my curiosity and let me watch alignment process.

Robert was the best person that took very good care of me and my car and he explained everything to me and what was happening with my car and answering my questions.

Everyone was friendly and explained what was optional and what was required for my car to be back on the road. There wasnt any pressure and they were helpful and gave me the information I needed to make a decision.(Addendum: I have since returned for an oil change and was impressed with the friendly service again. Charlie and the others helped me with all of my needs without pressuring me into buying anything.)

Hogan and Sons has been our go-to place for over a decade. They consistently have provided excellent service - on time, very communicative along the way, working with us to priorities, they are just the more honest, fair and professional shop ever.

Expensive. Quoted price 150$ over the phone as overall service charge. On paper while pick up charged 150 per item. Small price trick they used.

Brought in a 1990 Toyota Camry to test battery which died over a cold weather period. Bana, the technician who worked on the issue was very thorough and diligent in diagnosing and tracking down the root cause of the problem. After completely charging up the battery, Bana determined the battery was still good and I did not need a new battery. He made extra effort to investigate other causes of the cold weather battery drain. He also ran a Vehicle Condition Report list other issues where service is suggested to service required. Bana made sure that fluids were topped off even though not related to battery issue. I was impressed with the attention he gave to my very old vehicle.

Phillip was very nice and quick to help, and he also taught me a cool trick with my key so I didn’t have to take it off my key ring! (It’s the little things in life.)

I’ve been lucky enough to choose this location for my car needs 3 times over the last 2-3 months! Wally is great, very friendly, and attentive! This appointment was for a vehicle check over before a long road trip. Ban Kim was upfront and honest when it came to what my car did and didn’t need before my cross country trip! He explained and broke things down to me that I was hesitant on and really made me feel comfortable that I had chosen the right place to bring my car before I hit the road!I brought my car in about 3 weeks before this appointment because of some bad advice/recommendations from another repair shop! The manager (I’m sorry I didn’t get your name!) was very understanding and even walked me into the maintenance bay to show me why I had nothing worry about!This crew is friendly, honest, attentive, and certainly make you feel like part of the family! I wish I didn’t have to leave, but if I ever come back to the area, you can bet this is where I’ll be coming for ALL OF MY CAR CARE NEEDS!!

Wally is amazing. I usually do not like hogan and sons in other locations as its a chain and they usually rip me off. I went to this one a bit weary, but told Wally exactly what I wanted repaired. He did just that, Fixing only my window, and the cost was $200 lower than other hogans and sons quotes! I highly recommend this place and Wally especially.

I stopped by for an inspection, and my car passed. But, they tried to hook me in for $1700 of other service on the basis of some dirty fluids. Their recommendations were not competitively priced or well explained.I had already been out to a Jiffy Lube the week prior for service before going in for inspection. I checked the dipstick after paying for the inspection and the color was fine. They tried to sell me a full synthetic oil change to the tune of 90 bucks!

STAY AWAY!!!! READ OTHER ONE STAR REVIEWS!!!!I just wanted them to patch my tires. Ended up paying for the wheel studs that they broke ($200).They also broke the TPMS sensor and wanted me to pay extra $130 to fix it.Dont bother complaining, Steve, the store manager will simply ignore you.

First time customer and will be back - I was anticipating having to pick my car a day later, due to getting there just after 7p. Wally and crew were there and happily processed my service.All services and recommendations were explained and I feel confident about ensuring the longevity of the car.

I was estimated 1.5 hours for the services that were to be done, and service took 6 hours, which was very unexpected. I figured maybe 2-3 hours max. I also called beforehand to add an oil change on to my tires being done, and no one added it into the ticket, so that flustered the man when I checked in and mentioned it, because he had to make a separate ticket for it. Also, there is a large sign on the door saying that masks are required and the man who checked me in was not wearing a mask, and was not wearing one when I returned either.

Wally went above and beyond to get me an out of stock tire. In addition he saved me some money! Excellent service. Thanks

Greatly appreciate that they offer drop off and pick up service right now when were all trying to be careful about COVID. They answered all questions ahead of time, picked it up, diagnosed the issue and helped us work through the problem at a good value. Weve used them a few times in the last few years when we need it and will continue to come here. This last visit provided exceptional service!

They started om a Monday at the Sterling location. They sent it in the afternoon to Herndon. Tuesday, no car but would have the part on Thursday. Thursday night I never hear from them so I called and the wrong part came, sorry we didnt call you.. this goes on til Saturday when they put the original part in and said i can drive it til Tuesday when they can give me a loaner car and fix it. No call and nothing happened. Saturday I go crazy and they admit they cant fix my car!!! they send me to a different company and evidently they send a lot of cars there that they cant fix. What a terrible place, cost me a 3 day rental for nothing and I would NEVER want to have anything to do with them..RUN FROM THEM

I have been here for minor car issues since its so close to my home. They do a good job every time.I recently took the car in since my AC wasnt working. They were really professional and called me back saying that I should check with the dealer if the car might still be in warranty. Turns out it indeed was a compressor issue and thankfully the car was still in warranty with 2 days to go.They could have done the AC work and made a quick buck, but they did what was best for me, the customer. Unfortunately in todays world its hard to find a honest automotive repair facility. So when I found Hogan And Sons and realized that it was a family owned business not a chain store like several others in the area I decided to check it out. The father started one store in Leesburg Virginia with his families help many years ago. And now decades later and alot of very loyal customers including myself the family now operates around 9 stores throughout Northern Virginia. Thats amazing in todays world where most companies put dollars first. Im glad I found Hogan and Sons. You can go into anyone of their stores and they can automatically pull up your information and your cars history instantly. Thats important to me and saves lots of time. They also check over my car at no charge during a oil change. Top off my washer fluid and check my tires air pressure and make adjustments if needed. The best part is they will always let me know if anyother maintenance is due and are prepared to do the scheduled maintenance right away if its needed .Is just a great feeling to know that I dont have to worry about anything on my car. Especially with certified Techs capable and quilifiefed to do any other needed repairs including telling me why my check engine light is on.

The customer service in this place is terrible, especially a clerk who goes by the name of Sarge (not sure if its a nickname, but its written on his shirt). This guy has an aggressive attitude from the moment you walk through the door.On top of that, service ALWAYS takes several hours. The ONLY reason why I kept going back is because i live across the street, so I can walk back and wait at home instead. Even then, waiting feels like forever. Im talking 3+ hours for an oil change and an inspection.Besides the poor service and the long wait, the price is on the high end. Ive always paid close to $200 for an oil change and something they caught needed service as well.So in summary: bad customer service, long waits, high prices, and average-quality work.

Had an appointment but it still took them 3 hours to do the oil change and inspections. Then of course other things needed done for another 2 hours. It was a good thing I could get home and not have to wait there. Also, the service person waiting on me did not wear a mask. Very disturbing for a business.

Thanks to Hogan and Sons off at the Herndon location. Wally took care of me, even when I came in a little later, for a last minute oil change after working all day and not being able to come in sooner. Didn’t need an appointment, I was in and out even before they closed still. I really appreciate the help, and value of customer service he showed. I will be back for future oil changes, or other car services.

I visited around 7:45 AM on 11/30/19 and interacted with Sarge, who was excellent from the get go (a rare trait at such an early hour). Once again the service I received from Hogans Auto was OUTSTANDING! I took my truck in for an annual inspection and to have the brake pads replaced. The technician took the initiative to repair the drivers side mirror so that my vehicle would pass the inspection.

Went there to pick up my car after state inspection, guy took me to the back to show me my car and said wait a second as he went to the back. The arguing I heard was as followsHey customer is here- ITS 6 O CLOCK IM DONE WHAT DO YOU MEAN. INSPECTIONS ARE OVER.No his car is here! He is just pickin-I DONT CARE! INSPECTIONS STOP AT 5 TELL HIM THAT!He just needs his ca-I DONT CARE!The front end person then came back (keep in mind they told me to come back around this time since they were very busy), told one of the mechanics to drop my car and which had a bunch of parts that needed to be put back on then told me I will have to wait a couple minutes.Sure, they overcharge but thats expected its a chain, I mostly just wanted a good diagnostic of what I needed to pass so I could work on it at home. However, since its a chain I expect at least good customer service.So, to sum up I paid over a hundred dollars for an oil change/inspection and got put in the middle of an awkward fight between two employees and put to wait for an additional 30 minutes afterward. I saw many customers come and go during this time. I would give them one star but in the end I got what I wanted, so I will show some mercy with 2. Terrible customer experience

I will not be coming to this place aging to get my INSPECTION done. They failed me for things their wasnt suppose to fail me for. They gave me a emission inspection and not the VA inspection. I repeat told them that i just needed the inspection not emission . They still intended to fail me. I went to another inspection station who inform me that they did a emissions check and not inspection. The manager was very rude and not trying to understand where my frustration came from. He just wanted my money and for me to come back and get those things that needed to be done for emission

I was there for the safety and emissions inspection and i was greeted by Wally at the front desk. I was nervous when I entered the store during these COVID times but Wally started sanitizing the front desk and seating area. Bana, the service engineer took care of the inspection. It was a very disappointed experience! I leave my moms car there for a quote. They fixed it by miss-understood (I CANT accept the price they give me for changing a Brake line and brake flush). The materials price together around $200，but the total come to over $700! Yes $500 labor fee which is twice than the price I paid for the parts. But thanks they gave me $50 discount(I can save two bottle of formula for my baby🙃), I still paid $717.58 for brake flush and changing a brake line. The end, I ask them to delete my account information. They can’t even delete my information! My address,email, phone number ...all there forever!!!

I happened upon this location when I needed a quick tire check, and have been coming back ever since for everything from routine tire changes, inspections and even the occasional seasonal tire pressure checks. The customer service has been exactly what you need - to the point, courteous and sometimes pleasant to chat with. All they ask for, rightfully, is that if they do a good job, you tell others about them.I see no reason for me to stop coming to this location when I need non-dealership-required service on my vehicle, and have never had a reason to doubt their assessments of my vehicle. I recommend this location.

After taking them out to the parking lot to look at my rims prior to putting two new tires on and showing them that the rims were in perfect condition and having them agree - they damaged one of the rims and failed to fess-up and take care of the problem. They said that they could not have done the damage even know they looked at the rim before. The car was in their care the whole time. How else could it have happened? Total dishonesty. They should be embarrassed. If you care about your vehicle, do not bring it to Hogan & Sons. They will likely damage it and not have the decency to resolve the issue. If I could give them zero stars, I would. Find another tire shop.Update: Hogan & Sons just replied with a very deceptive response to my review. Truth hurts. The manager at the shop looked at my rim before the work was ever performed. If the damage was there previously, why didnt the manager call it out BEFORE they did the work? Why didnt they say that they were damaged and refuse to do the work? They looked right at them!! Im not sure anyone reading this can believe that after having both the tech and the manager look at the rims that they would proceed if there was already damage. We all can agree that is highly unlikely. Just the fact that I brought them out to the vehicle BEFORE the work started speaks volumes. It is very convenient to dodge the truth after the damage was done.In Hogans reply, they claim they have photos. So do I, in fact, the photos that they have are the ones that I sent to them. If they have photos of the rim BEFORE and AFTER the install, please share. I am also more than happy to look at your camera footage. The photos I have clearly show that someone at Hogans used something metal to pry the wheel off, causing marks in the rim. This is not corrosion, this is poor workmanship.What is really sad is that customers using this place should take photos of their vehicles prior to bringing it to this shop so that they have definitive proof of the poor workmanship. I thought that walking the tech and manager to my car BEFORE the work was performed to show them that the rims were clean would be enough. Clearly honesty is not something that they offer their customers.

Went in with a flat tire. I figured it wasnt repairable...I was right. I was given options, and I chose to replace all 4 tires. They were getting close anyways...I was given a good price, and a rebate to boot.They didnt have my size in stock, so they ran over to another store and got them. Offered me a ride home, even though it was a ways away. Everyone was friendly and professional.The car drives better now.This was my second visit to Hogan and Sons, highly recommend.

Popped a tire hitting a pothole, came in and Wally took great care of me. Very knowledgeable and treated me like family. James tested the electrical components and replaced the alternator getting the car back on the road in no time!, these guys do everything from basic maintenance to heavy work. Received a $20 off coupon for an alignment service in the mail. Thought I give this shop a try. Called to make an appointment and asked for the service cost. Was informed the cost of the alignment would be $99.99. However, was given a cost of $109.99 on the day of my appointment. When asked, the person told me that $99.99 is for a sedan and since my car is an SUV, it would cost $109.99. If that is the case, why wasnt I given the two prices when I asked on the phone? Have another car that needs alignment, but I will be taking it to some other shop. Another thing I want to mention is that other shop has a printout of your cars alignment that shows the before and after of the adjustment. This place doesnt have it.

Ive been to replace by car battery. I have my own battery and its just installation. I know they had this service earlier and quoted 40 bugs. This time they laugh and replied we never had this battery installation service as if like am in Tesla showroom. I know thats a big lie and i had done this service earlier. Please do not insult customers every penny is valuable. Your service should earn customers trust on you and not money.

The guys at this shop are amazing. They are always ready to help and get whatever you need done, DONE with great quality and in a timely manner. I have been a happy customer with them since I started driving at 16. They were my first car shop experience and will continue to be my only car shop experience. I highly recommend getting to know these guys, they do come in handy.

I called the phone ask for the price they said 175. I went to store and now they are Asking 175*2= 350Stop wasting people time.

Hogan and Sons in Herndon is my most trusted auto repair facility in northern Virginia. They will honestly tell you what your car needs without trying to upsell things you dont need. The new digital inspection is a great addition. I was able to see photos of any problem areas on my phone before I authorized the work, all from where I was at a coffee shop.

Went in for tire rotation and inspection. Employee performing inspection stated my car was a danger to the road because my brakes were worn down. Would not pass my inspection. Have had 0 issues with my brakes (no squeaking/skidding). When I asked employee to describe the condition of the brakes he had difficulty and reiterated he would not pass my inspection. Felt coerced into getting brake pads that I did not need. Needed my car that evening so went through with the brakes. Looking at previous reviews of this location, feel that they are similar to other complaints of unnecessary maintenance. Labor is above average when looking at google search for common prices. Would not recommend.
