Five stars! I have been coming here for more than 10 years and have brought more than five different cars. Every visit was a good experience. I drive old cars and AutoScandi helps keep them on the road. My current car is a 2007 (14 years old) and AutoScandia saves me a ton of money by helping me keep it on the road. They have even taken the time to give me estimates for upgrades I havent had done such as new struts. I dont NEED them, but it would be nice to restore the ride comfort level to its original glory. With the price of new cars put of control and the price of used cars going up, its best to keep what you have in good working order and AutoScandia does that for me. You may schedule a quick oil change in advance and wait for the service to be completed. That saves you the trouble of dropping the car off for the day. My car has always been ready when promised and the cost has always been in line with estimates. No complaints here.

I’ve been coming to these folks for years now with my various Volvo models and they’ve always done a great job, been very forthcoming & honest, with top-tier recommendations, but this most recent bit of working with them definitely deserves a shoutout.Just days before I had to make a move (driving 1400+ miles away), before the Labor Day weekend, something went wrong with my cooling fan and the control module.Gene was fantastic when it came to coordinating finding last-minute parts, and understanding my concerns and urgency. Not only did he so courteously pony a part to the shop over the course of the long weekend, they had it done and repaired for me first thing in the morning when everyone came back in. They took great care of my 2015 Audi Q5, at 1/3 of the cost that the dealership was going to charge. I had the 75K mile service done, as well as both the rear brakes and battery replaced.There was no up charging or BS that I have experienced at other places.The car is now actually driving better than before.They were very professional, very polite, and their service was timely.I will definitely be taking the car back here from now on.

I wouldnt say I know cars super well, but I have a decent enough understanding as long as its explained to me. The guys here at AutoScandia were extremely professional and gave me a proper breakdown of the issues they found with my 2014 BMW 535i xDrive. As a consumer, Im always worried that I might be overcharged for things I dont know but I didnt feel that here. I had been quoted some prices from BMW of Sterling and they were obscenely expensive but here I was quoted way more reasonable prices - they seemed to match what I had read online from my own research on the issues. I talked to a few people who were also there and they were all long time customers. Its hard not to trust ~300 reviews and a 4.9 star rating so Im glad I took a chance and brought my car here! Ill be doing so in the future again. Very professional, thorough, and honest from what I gathered.

After having 0 luck with auto repair shops trying to up-charge me an insane amount, I was luckily referred to Autoscandia. They were quick to call me after dropping my car off, updated me immediately, and best of all they gave me a realistic price point. When I picked up my car, they took the time to explain to me the process they went through. They were so kind! Sometimes as a woman I get worried about getting scammed or overcharged because Im not familiar with cars. They were so clear about everything. I will be taking my car here for future repairs. The team at AutoScandia (AS) is knowledgeable, capable and honest. Our aging 07 Lexus SUV was recently diagnosed by a dealer outside the metro area to require multiple, costly repairs. I went to AS for a second opinion. Three of the items indicated by the dealer as needing attention or replacement were valid concerns, but AS fixed the issues for roughly half the cost quoted by the dealerships service department. In addition, two of the most expensive parts claimed to be faulty by the dealer worked perfectly and did not need to be replaced. We trust AS with all of our vehicles. About a year ago, the AS technicians found (and fixed) a serious safety issue on our car that had been missed completely during a dealer service appointment. The company is well-run, dependable and fair. They have experts certified to work on high-end luxury vehicles at a more competitive price. Companys like AS are hard to find in todays world. We have recommended them to everyone we know.

I havent used AutoScandia but I really appreciated their call back when I posted a question on their email site. A lot of businesses just brush you off when sending questions via email and not get a reply. My short experience with AutoScandia on the phone made me feel welcomed. They explained the details about the question I had! Sorry I forgot the name of the individual that called. Ill definitely use them for repairs when needed on two Volvos I have.

AutoScandia for sure knows what they are doing. But they will Auto-Scandal-Ya pockets. Quoted $700 to replace a battery in my BMW, brought it down a couple hundred after a request to. My discount made it dealership prices at best, my opinion. What I will say is that, they give a good diagnosis, where other places were trying to replace door modules in my car for this same issue. Basically my battery kept needing a jump and the jumps supposedly blew a couple fuses and my windows and doors wouldn’t work. I went to dealership and other places for quotes, they diagnosed wrong issue that would be way more costly, almost double. So this is why I still give AutoScandia 4 stars. I feel like you can take your vehicle there not worrying if they did something to create a new issue. Find every coupon, get on the mailing list. Ask for that AARP, military, veteran, discount or something. Prices are still ridiculous. But I do trust my car in their hands. Phew!!! I would use them again.

I wanted to drop a quick note here after one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had. Ive been using Autoscandia for almost 15 years and by saying that it is clear I trust their work. Ive developed a personal relationship with most of the staff and consider a lot of them friends at this point.Now, the reason for my post...During my last visit, something didnt go as planned (for the first time in 15 years) and Ill admit I was a little upset with the situation. Dan called me to talk through everything stating hell make sure to make it right next time around. I think its safe to say we have all heard that before, right? Well, Autoscandia and Dan kept their word. Yesterday I had to bring my car in unexpectedly to get something minor taken care of. When Dan called me to tell me the car was ready and I asked what the damage was, he said this one is on us! I was honestly shocked as the job was a couple hundred dollars. I also never asked for a discount - it was Dans customer service and him keeping his word!I started this post off by stating it was one of the best customer service experiences Ive ever had and thats very true. From the moment I called the first time, I knew I would like this place!Scott was super nice on the phone and even offered to give me a quick run down of the car, since I had just purchased my BMW.Took it for an oil change and I was provided a first time client discount. Got a list of future things to keep an eye on, but they never tried selling me anything. Tires were a hot item and they got me a quote and encouraged me to shop around and compare. This shop is great. I have used them for many years, and they have always come through for me. Even when I had just an hour or 2 before I was supposed to leave for a long road trip they helped me quickly and got me on my way even when they didnt have to. Theyre good people.

Have used AutoScandia since around 1980 when it was called Reston Volvo and Saab. An honest auto-repair business built up by Mark Bredesen that now services Japanese and all European cars with internal combustion engines. Ive always had good service and if there were problems with service, was able to resolve them through discussion. More reliable and less expensive than typical auto dealer shops and especially convenient to Reston and Herndon residents.

So welcome to my horror story, I allowed my neighbor who had the best of intentions work on my car in order to stop a oil leak which as a BMW owner we are all so very familiar with. Only he was not qualified and made a huge mistake in cleaning the belt with a chemical that caused it to snap and end up in the pulley which further got tangled up in timing chain and thats all she wrote. This is my dream car 2008 BMW 535i. Dan and his BMW team didnt give up even when I did as I couldnt imagine being able to afford the repairs caused by this freak accident. My experience at AutoScandia was the best experience with an Auto Shop I have ever had. Faith restored! Seriously! They treat you like family and like youre their only customer. Never once did I feel like they trying to up sell me services and parts just so they can make money.When my car broke down, The Volvo Dealership wanted to charge me almost $7,000 to fix my 13 year old car, and then offered almost NOTHING for a trade in for a new car. And they left my window down and my car out in the rain for days!When I had it towed to AutoScandia, the FIRST thing they did was put plastic over my window to stop rain from getting in. They went above and beyond to fix my car while at the same time, trying to SAVE me money. Great experience. Took my car for a 2nd opinion after a bad experience with the first mechanic. The mechanics took a look at my car and confirmed the problem with my car. Repairs were quoted at about 3000k. Dan, the mechanic who looked at my car was very honest. Informed me it was still drivable without the repairs and even recommended trying to replace my car. Even though I did not repair my car at AutoScandia I would return in the future if I needed repairs because of their honesty.

Went in for standard oil change and rotation. Staff was extremely friendly, waiting room was nice, prices reasonable for the quality of work. They even put my next oil change for 5,000 miles out without me asking, an honest thing to do, most places unnecessarily put 3,000 miles to make more money. Not AutoScandia! HORRIBLE experience and during the Covid-19 Pandemic to boot! Never returning to AutoScandia. So very tired of the phony southern hospitality routine followed with fake offense when BS is called. Vehicle brought in for a check tire light. Gene discussed expired VA (5/20/20) inspection sticker & brought up broken plastic door handle. During previous service with AutoScandia, told them I did not want to spend the money on the handle because there is a workaround (open it from the outside). During current service Gene stated he would have the car fail inspection due to broken plastic door handle so I could have a legal failed sticker on the windshield and could take the car for on Friday before Fathers Day weekend 2020. I previously told him I needed the car this weekend to travel to family out of state. I did not feel comfortable taking Amtrak due to the Pandemic and nor do I feel comfortable renting a car during a Pandemic. I should not have had to incur costs to travel and should have had to cancelled my plans. I told him I was furious, declared BS and told him to call me when the car was done. Gene never called me back, then lied then and gaslighted me when my fiance called AutoScandia Tuesday (after Fathers Day weekend) to find out when the car was going to be done. Gene also told me the person who repairs doors was going on vacation (guess there is only one door person at AutoScandia). So who repaired the car? The B team? Gene took the car door apart without permission before the weekend, incurring $100+ in labor to determine the door handle was broken to fail the inspection. This was unnecessary. Any idiot could have checked the door fail box. Then refused to give me the car unrepaired on on Friday unless I agreed to an additional $100+ labor to put the car back together then take it apart again one the grossly overpriced plastic pieced was ordered from the mysterious grossly overpriced source of auto parts. Done with AutoScandia.

Patient, knowledgeable staff, mechanic Louis actually came out to explain the problem and let me pick his brain. They give new customers a $100 discount for repair work. They have a nice waiting room with complimentary drinks and comfy chairs, and its clean.

AutoScandia is the only garage I now trust to maintain my vehicle. Their courtesy is only matched by their professional service and incredible honesty. AutoScandia was recommended to me by a family member when I thought I was having brake troubles with my car. I was experiencing some squeaking, and the mechanic I had been going to informed me that my brakes needed to be replaced, even though they only had a few thousand miles on them. I went to AutoScandia for a second opinion. They took the time to carefully listen to what I had been experiencing, and even went on a drive with me to help identify the problem. I was fully prepared to replace the pads once again if needed, but after only a few minutes in the garage, the mechanic came to inform me that I was just suffering from a build up of brake dust, and that the pads were fine. After they cleaned them off, the sound went away. Since switching to AutoScandia, I have always felt that my car is in excellent hands. They never try to replace parts that do not need it, and in fact provide estimates as to when I may need to conduct maintenance so I have some time to budget for it. AutoScandia is 30 miles from where I now live, but driving the distance is worth every minute. I highly recommend AutoScandia for any and all maintenance questions and service.

I always take my BMW here for repairs ever since a friend recommended it. They are honest, competent, and fast. The office staff are super friendly, and have a nice waiting room with coffee/tea. Recently I have a coolant leak and due to safety concern I drove to a nearby repair shop for repair. When I had questions about the quote, I called AutoScandia and spoke to Zack. Zack is very knowledgable and very kind. He explain how they work to identify problem and give me a quote. Id always feel confident and comfortable to let AutoScandia service my car.

My experience here was positive overall. I came in for safety inspection. My 2019 Subaru Forester was immediately taken in, serviced, and passed. My bill, however, was printed with an old address of mine from years ago, together with the info associated with the car I brought then, which also happened to be a (2004) Subaru Forester. This happened even after I filled out a new form with all my new car info.Now, this might not be called attention to details, but I understand that confusion happens sometimes. That’s why when I noticed the wrong information on my bill, I told them it’s the wrong car, and asked that the old info be changed and replaced with the new info. I thought after this all would be clear. The bill was reprinted, folded, and I was told all is now good to go. It’s only when I unfolded the bill again to make sure that I found that my car year is now 2018!When I asked why, I was told they could not enter the 9 so they decided to enter the closest thing the 8!What really didn’t sit well with me was that I wasn’t told first that my bill still did not reflect my car’s correct year. Instead the bill was folded and I was told all was fixed. Why couldn’t they just say, “hey, we have a tech issue. Your bill is still not correct. Please wait.”In the end this turned out to be a training issue. Someone else fixed things for me. But this also suggests that not everyone in the customer service section is well trained.

I must say AutoScandia is a great shop full of upstanding individuals. I had my Porsche 944 towed in after it blew the cam tower gasket. These folks were extremely friendly and clear about the work that needed to be done, and their pricing was more than fair. Mike, the technician who worked on my car definitely knows his stuff. That being said, there were some hiccups in the process. I didnt receive updates on the cars progress and felt a little left in the dark, especially since the car needed some new parts that I didnt know for sure would be replaced when I dropped it off. However, the service manager was quick to accept responsibility and take action. I also ended up with a fuel injector leak after the repair, but I dont blame AutoScandia for this at all. They put in new injectors that I provided quickly and free of charge! Everyone I interacted with couldnt have been friendlier, and the work done on the car seems to be great so far. Thanks again to AutoScandia for putting my pride and joy back on the road, Id recommend these guys for any general maintenance on your European car!

Honest place to bring your vehicle, albeit a bit pricey. You do get what you pay for, though. Generally OEM parts, quality work, etc.And small details I noticed, such as the very incorrect mileage on the state inspection report and lack of VIN on my bill and account are things others may notice, too. I would almost knock off a star for the lack of attention to detail.

Ive been taking my 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon to AutoScandia for all service needs both big and small for almost a year now and I could not be happier with the work they have done. Both the owner, Mark, and the VW mechanic, Paul, always provide timely communication on the work that needs to be done so that I can make informed decisions on how to proceed. The work done is always excellent, they dont return your vehicle until it is fixed correctly. I have found the price charged to be very reasonable given the time and attention they put into every repair. AutoScandia is the only repair shop I take my VW. It is the first place I would recommend to anyone looking for an excellent and honest mechanic at a very good price.

Dropped off our car in the night box and had a call from Glen at 7:30 am the next day to say that they had diagnosed the problem and where to go from there. Very professional and car was ready that afternoon.

My car was sitting for over a month because of their Internal issues with ordering the parts. I would have liked to have been informed more offten of the status of when the parts would be ordered and an update on the status of my car. Once the parts were ordered the car was fixed in a timely manner.

I used to not exclusively take my car to AutoScandia as I was new to the area and trying out different shops. I only like my cars worked on by people who care and know what theyre doing. After my most recent visit Im pretty sure Ill be taking my car exclusively to AutoScandia from here on out. Dan was super helpful and willing to listen to any concerns I had about my car. It was even nice being greeted by name when picking up my car. This shop may be a busy shop but I definitely felt like my car mattered, and thats why Ill be back.

They are honest, explain everything they find in great detail, get approval before doing any work, and do not push unneeded services. They are not the cheapest and can get busy at times but they are worth it to us.

Drove my VW Jetta from PA to VA for Xmas with my daughter and family. The day after Xmas I was involved in an accident (not with my car). My car was due for State inspection, and I knew some maintenance work was coming up. Hospitalization and several months of recovery at my daughters meant my car was parked outside and barely moved. An early March diagnosis from Autoscandia left me wondering whether or not to do the repair. I am glad I did, and I am glad I found Autoscandia. My only regret is this garage is not near where I live in PA! Gene was top notch in his communications with me starting with the diagnosis through completion of service. They are good, the staff, mechanics, technicians, and the manger team seem knowlegdable for European car models.I put my wife car and mine there a few times.Problems?1- since they do mostly a good job, their schedule is tight, and you may need to wait for a while to fix your car. I think the problem is their place, that does not have enough room to expand, and so, they cannot hire more expert people to speed up their service.2 - while it may worth to stay a little more to get your car at a hand of a good mechanic,The second problem is their price, which you may end up to think about somewhere else.As I said before, they do usually a good job, but they have increased their price as well.Now, their price is higher than many other good shops, and almost get close to the dealers. However, they do not have some convenience part that a luxury dealer give and offer to you, like a loan car.So before heading to this place ( because of their good reputation and reviews), I would suggest to get few estimates from your car dealer or another good shop.You may find cheaper price in another shop, or, you can see that the price of a dealer plus a loan car from dealer will be less if you compare it with putting your car in AutoScandia plus renting a car for few days.

My car is an 2004 Volvo V70 manual transmission purchased in Denmark. It has been used to move my family from one state to another twice and to haul plants, shrubs, and some small trees from nursery to homes. AutoScandia keeps it running beautifully for me. Theyve replaced various parts when needed and if I couldnt afford it, would find a good second-hand part. They are all very pleasant to deal with and are not expensive. I hope to keep this car for the rest of my driving days and with their help, it should happen! Thanks!

Very professional and polite staff, though getting a work-friendly time slot is a bit difficult. They didnt try to up-sell me or find more issues with the car, they simply did the work I asked of them and handed me a very reasonable bill. I definitely plan to go back.

Reviewed post: Mark went to great length to repair the image of his company after what we both agree was a botched experience. Lots of factors, human errors, third-party interventions, etc can explain the case. Kudos to him for the passion he has for his company - Ill grant him that. I will not bring my cars back however as the overall simple case turned out to be a nightmare. Life is too short ... Id rather enjoy a ride in the convertible they worked on!

Professional with integrity - did a reboot of the computer to fix a sunroof not opening issue on my BMW that the dealership was going to take me to the cleaners. Problem resolved in 20 minutes. Looks like they have the experienced BMW technicians here vs. elsewhere. Customer for life!!!

Being a long time BMW owner, I discovered this shop by high ratings from other satisfied customers. I tried them out for a very complicated software issue that was affecting my shift patterns and was plain annoying. They had the car for 2 days for diagnostics and resolved the issue completely. Not only where these guys (Dan) super nice, I did not pay dealer prices and lower than expected invoice......like a $100. My new shop moving forward.

A great shop that has always treated us well. They are quick to suggest you dont get work done if they dont feel it is necessary and they have always been very reasonable about not charging for time diagnosing issues regardless of if we pay to have them fixed or not. Highly recommended.

Ive been searching for a honest mechanic for years and I was thrilled when I discovered this place. You will find prices high for certain things, but what you wont find is being charged for unnecessary things. They also have a shuttle service if you need to drop your car off and need to be dropped somewhere after. They will pick you up as well. Ive taken both my Corolla and my BMW there and Im very happy with the service.

I heard and knew about AutoScandias top quality service even well before my first visit. So I knew where to tow my car when it wouldnt start. My first visit was a little awkward at the beginning and turned out be one of the best experiences in auto repair.My office was close by and they provided ride service which was great. Then it got a little awkward when I got a call for unusually high service charge for replacing a starter. I negotiated to bring the price down to what was considered normal in my standard. But the uneasy feeling would not go away that I would have paid more than needed, had I not negotiated the price.They knew my uneasy feeling and I was impressed that they reached out to me at first! We had a positive conversation over the phone and text until the problem was resolved. It was figured that happened due to miscommunication. I was fully explained what should and would have been done in terms of the total process from the quote to actual repair. It was the first time that I was reached out for customer satisfaction matter from an auto repair shop.
