This is the second 4X4 Barneys has done off road modifications for me and I’m just as please this time as I was the first time. I wanted to lift it 2.5 and add a new bummer/winch on my Grand Cherokee. Brian spent lots of time with me helping to picking out parts and options Couldn’t be more pleased. if you want to upgrade you off road vehicle, I don’t think you can find a better place to have your work done.

Worst place ever, left my Jeep with engine light on and won’t start, Jeep was there for almost 2 month, paid almost 3000$ never receive call back from them, when went to pick up Jeep, it was muddy driven 40 miles n, with a dent and the worst nothing was fixed . When asked what is going they said they didn’t have proper equipment to finish the job and they think it has to be reprogrammed but not sure. Wouldn’t trust this place ever again I don’t even know why I was charged if nothing was done my Jeep was used for personal enjoyment and plus they even dented it . And none of the parts they supposed to be replaced were given back to me except the sensor I guess they return the parts only they want to return even if you ask them to save them

If you’re looking for a solid, reliable, and knowledgeable 4x4 repair shop in GJ, Barney Brothers is where its at. I had an unexpected issue on my 4runner while in Grand Junction, and I needed a 4x4 repair shop ASAP since I live in Denver. I messaged several local shops on social media after hours, and Barney Brothers was the only one to respond (and at 7 a.m. Monday morning before they opened too). Barney Brothers took care of me at a reasonable price and made sure I was good to get back home. Highly recommend, would definitely use them again (but hopefully never need to).

I used to be a mechanic and prefer working on my own vehicles. I had a project that required some specialized tools that I didn’t have. The guys at Barney knew exactly what I needed done and got it turned around quickly. A little pricey, but quality work. As much as I hate taking my Jeep to a shop, when I do occasionally have to use one it will be these guys.

I drove 2 hours to Barney’s and spent the day (10am - 5pm) in their waiting room while they did a safety check and inspection and fixed quite a few minor things on my truck.Unfortunately when I got my truck home a friend of mine who’s a 20-year mechanic drove my truck and told me the alignment was off, it was pulling to the right, the steering wheel wasn’t centered, the front brakes needed to be replaced and the rotors were warped. The truck shook when he braked.The two mechanics at Barney’s drove it at the shop and said it was okay.I’m leaving for a 1200 mile drive to move to our new home hauling a very heavy trailer.I’m glad my friend was able to finish up the work here in town at his shop that Barney Brothers missed. And also all 4 tires had only 40 lbs of air in them instead of 70 lbs.That’s a basic check but it wasn’t done.

I got new shocks and struts installed on my FX4 at Barney Bro’s this past summer and was plenty satisfied. What you’d call a scheduled maintenance event I guess. Then just a few weeks ago while doing my usual in the backcountry, apparently looking for common sense and good judgement (unsuccessfully), I broke my truck pretty good. After having it recovered, I called them up and said I had an unscheduled event of the worst kind. They got it in the shop just as soon as they could and had one of their techs completely inspect the driveline, diff, transfer case, etc. Called to tell me I wasn’t nearly as destructive as I had assumed and they were able to get it back to me a few days later. Couple of days after I picked up my truck, they called to make sure everything was in good working order and there weren’t any issues. Couldn’t have been happier with the work and level of service. Definitely a great group of people to work with. My front diff actuator went out and I replaced it but needed the position reset. Their staff fit me in super quick, did a full inspection, and solved the issue. I’ve already recommended them to several people for work. I’ll definitely be back if I have any issues or need work done.

Brian and his team helped on a high mile, 96k, Jeep Evaluation for purchase. Prior to warning me about a year earlier, there are few, decent used jeeps in this area. And Brian is correct. When looking at several Jeeps over the past year we actually found one of the exceptions to this rule. Brian test drove and then put it on the rack and went through the bottom carriage front to back. The Jeep was NOT PERFECT, as the team found a leaky shock and the front ball joints needed replaced. BUT, overall, the Jeep was is quite good condition. Using the report we were able to discount repairs for the amount estimated so everyone came out. The seller, ourselves and Brian who has a NEW Client!

Outstanding service! I was traveling through town and my truck broke down. Having to be in Denver the next day, the guys at Barney Brothers were the only ones out of 4 shops that would even offer to look at my truck (Ford F-150). Within an hour, they had the truck in and were running diagnostics. They found the part needed and completed the repair all in one afternoon. Then their technicians ran it on several test drives to make sure there were no issues before I left. Great service and people. I wouldn’t go anywhere else in Grand Junction. They saved our family vacation.

Everyone at Barney Brothers Off-Road are very knowledgeable and willing to help. They were able to tell me what it was going to cost me to install the lift on my truck before I got there and when I dropped it off they gave me a ride back to work. I didn’t have the new wheels and tires I wanted yet and they did everything they could to get them in quickly and installed, so I could get my truck back before the weekend. They weren’t planning on having to get me wheels and tires, but they got right on getting me the best deal in the shortest time possible and did it with a great attitude. They are certainly pros when it comes to suspension (I haven’t done any other work other than suspension at BBOR). They installed a 6 lift on my 2012 Tundra and did a spectacular job. My truck looks and drives great. The alignment came in great and my truck goes down the road like it was stock. They also re-check torques for free on all of the installed components. I like that they torque striped everything, so you know if something comes loose.

I’ve been doing business with Barney Brothers for many years and my latest visit is why. Totally bewildered by a completely dead vehicle I was assured that, “We’ll get you taken care of”. Surprised to hear back in only a few short hours that my Jeep was fixed and ready to pick up I couldn’t believe it. It was true. Turned out to be a relatively small item that other shops might have taken advantage of. Not these guys. Needless to say, I’m a fan.

I had Barney Brothers install an aftermarket suspension modification. They did a great job, from ordering and scheduling, to getting the job done in a timely manner. I did have one issue with customer service, the final person I talked to when I dropped off and picked up my vehicle, seemed to have a bit of an attitude and spoke to me with a demeanor I was not happy with.Overall, it was a good experience!

Put a Ripp supercharger on my Jeep and man it runs good! Ripp was giving Brian the run around my new ECU which was no fault of Barney Brothers but still frustrating being in the middle of. Finally showed up and they put it on in 2 days (install and testing). Mechanic there is really knowledgeable on the superchargers and troubleshooting. They did really clean work which is important for me. Good bunch of people to deal with and I’ll be back.

Amazing service. Was off-roading in the desert and got stuck pretty bad. Called Barney Brothers to see if there was a service or number we could call to get help. Instead of referring us to someone else Brian and Tim came out after closing hours on their own time and helped me get out of the sticky situation. Brought in my jk for a hesitation issue I was unable to figure out. Tired of throwing parts at my problem and having no resolution, I took it to Barney brothers. Went for a drive with the tech came back and in less than an hour we had a diagnosis. My 2015 Jeep JKU had a severe problem in the rear differential which resulted in the rear axle housing to be damaged. Barney Brothers has completed numerous upgrades to my vehicle and I have been extremely satisfied with their work. I made an appointment and had my Jeep hauled to Barney Brothers shop. They discovered a ring gear bolt had worked loose which damaged the ring gear, pinion and the axle housing. They had installed the ring gear and acknowledged the problem may have been due to the work they had completed.It took almost 4 weeks for them to find the parts and receive them. The day after the last part arrived I received a call saying my Jeep was ready for pick up and there would be no charge to me. They also had the exterior detailed .The Barney Brothers team is excellent and I highly recommend them to friends, family and all of my off-road buddies as their service is THE BEST. Thanks guys.

Took an odd little 4 wheel drive fire truck down for a bed swap. Took them about ten minutes to tell me what they needed to do and schedule the appointment. Dropped it off mid day and picked it up mid day the next day. Looks great. Definitely would use them again!!

Was traveling from San Diego to Fort Collins when I had trouble with my jeep. Finally had to stop in Grand Junction and found Barney Brothers they got me right in even though they were busy and took care of the problem in a short period of time. These guys are honest and straight up keep you informed all along the way and have really experienced mechanics that can handle the stuff. If you’re traveling and need work it’s only place to go.

Can’t say enough good things about these guys. We’re on the road full time for the year and had an issue with the bed racks that hold our tent. We ended up ordering a trailer to move the tent to, but without a permanent address and the necessary tools, we were in a pickle. The folks at Barney Brothers allowed us to ship the trailer to them, assembled it and then planned time for the day we arrived to do some pretty serious reinforcements to the racks. We showed up to an already assembled trailer ready to roll, they had someone waiting to do the repairs right away and even helped us move the 160lb tent over to the trailer / attach it.We went to 6 different companies who wouldn’t work with our schedule or didn’t want to do the work before we found these guys. Every step of the way they were kind, informative and went above and beyond. They were the key to getting out trip back on track, thanks guys!

Very happy with the service, they answered all of my questions and did a great job on my alignment and repair. They had no problem aligning my power wagon to non factory specs, and my truck drives great. You can tell by the parking lot that they know how to work on real 4x4s.

They take pride in their work! definitely earned my trust. There was some difficulty getting the alignment correct on my truck. I have always fought this and had poor tire wear. Turns out I needed some additional parts (which they identified and fixed, instead of turning out a poor product)

Was in Grand Junction visiting friends - Needed new Koni shocks installed. Barneys Off Road was selected from Reviews and a telcon interview. The team is amazing. In addition to installing our customer supplied Koni shocks, Jeff recognized a mis-fire which I thought was a transmission issue. Jeff turned the issue over to Brian, the Master. #5 cylinder was indeed misfiring - bad coil.The ride and control is amazing now. Don’t yet know about mpg but vehicle is better than ever. I think a lot of bots must be giving them good reviews because these people are Totally incompetent. Went in to get struts adjusted. Took discount tire less than one hour to put them on a year ago. So I’m thinking one hour tops. They get me there after agreeing to one hour on the phone then say their book says it will take three. Then they screw around for four hours with no update and claim they can’t do. Jeff came out all furious looking and wouldn’t take time to explain why they can’t fix it but said that they would have to break the strut to get it off. I called Koni struts and they explained that the strut mount wears down after the miles I have and what Jeff described is clearly a worn out strut mount. You would think Jeff would explain that to me and not blame the strut. What a total waste of time. These people try to charge more than agreed upon and then won’t even be honest about issue or are clueless.

I had such a great experience with Barney Brothers. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. My truck was making weird clunking noises and the guys at Barney Brothers figured out the problems and got it fixed. The problems that they found, other shops had completely missed. These guys are thorough, honest, and reliable. They don’t try to over-sale you on things you don’t need. Steve was so great to work with. He had awesome communication and was just great. Barney Brothers really went above and beyond. I will definitely be going back in the future.

Brought in my 100K+ 2008 JKU in for a little wheel wobble to find the ball joints and tie rod ends had wore out. They replaced with HD adjustable models, no more wobble and we can adjust them tight again in the future.Confusion occurred with the track bar, stock one that was installed needed to be adjustable, they installed an adjustable track bar but I had ordered one from Metalcloak. They said no problem removed thier charges for the new trackbar and told us when you receive your Metalcloak track bar, bring it back in and we will swap out the installed bar. We have a couple of Jeeps and will be going to Barney Brothers for future repairs.

Not the sharpest parts changers’ out there. Exhaust broke on my truck b/c the hangers fell off. Told them it needed exhaust hangers and a new pipe behind the engine. Also asked for a full inspection, they loved selling me new coilovers but missed the u joint that broke less than 60 miles out of the shop on the highway. And then the exhaust broke again b/c the hangers were not put in. I don’t have money to waist on off-road mechanic. Maybe im Not rich enough?

They did a great job installing a lift on my 2016 Ram 1500 with an Air Ride system. They also found out I had some bad tie rods and replaced them for me. The job took a day longer than expected so they compted me the tie rods and labor to replace them. These guys out did themselves with everything!!

Barney Brothers has done a wonderful job for us over the past few years. Most recently we had them install a flat towing system to pull our Jeep behind our motorhome. They took care of everything and went for a test drive to make sure that it all was working seamlessly, and (more important) that we could unhitch and hitch back up with reasonable competency. We really appreciate the personalized and excellent service.

I had a wonderful experience at Barney Brothers this morning. While passing through Grand Junction on my way from Maryland to Utah, I stopped in to see if they had time to install a set of skid plates. They were able to fit me into their morning schedule and had me in and out in under 2 hours. The level of service and quality of workmanship was excellent and all of the employees were knowledgeable, professional and extremely helpful.

Got a new work vehicle and Barney Brothers did a great job getting it ready for high country work. Great hidden winch and bumper, tires, mats, and backup camera. Brian was incredibly helpful and treated us GREAT!!! This is the second work vehicle I have taken to them and they always come through. Very knowledgeable and the SHOP is awesome. Barney Brothers Off-Road and Repair is a top notch shop. These guys were able to help me out on the last leg of my 1190mile trip from California to Colorado when my JKU decided it rather steer itself instead of responding to steering inputs from me! They took my vehicle in immediately placing their master tech on it and got everything sorted out within 1hr and 50min!!! Not only were they fast, but also thorough in their service and explanations of what they found. I’d give them more stars if possible.

I had a great experience. I’m from out of town and needed to find a shop to make off road modifications to my FJ Cruiser. After looking around Grand Junction for a professional shop I found Barney Brothers. Like going to a restaurant in a strange town, I always look for the one with the most cars in front of it. It tells me the food is good, the turnover is low and they don’t haggle about the small things. In this case I was looking for the shop with the most 4 wheel drive vehicles. Barney Brothers had a parking lot full of highly modified off road vehicles being ready to be worked on or already serviced. They had a number of professional bays. I set up an appointment with them. The employees where professional and they didn’t haggle about small stuff. Sure I pay a bit more for professional work. At the same time I don’t need to worry about it being done incorrectly. Barney Brothers does these modifications all the time, as witnessed by the parking lot. I’m a busy person and I don’t have time for unprofessional work. Barney Brothers is professional. You get what you pay for. If your time is valuable and you want it done correctly I would recommend Barney Brothers.

Installed two headlights, light cubes, license plate holder, and a fuel cap for us. I did supply my own equipment and they supplied the service and wire. Very friendly and communicative from the beginning of the process through the final repair and out the door completion. Repaired a minor issue on original repair without question. All in all, a very good experience.

I brought my 20 year old vehicle to Barney Brothers when the 4WD stopped working. They completed a 27 point courtesy inspection and provided several recommendations I plan to follow up on. They replaced 2 worn out belts and repaired the 4WD without needing any additional parts making the charges more than reasonable. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, courteous, and helpful. I highly recommend them.

We needed to order a Decked storage system for one of our work trucks through a dealer. We contacted Barney Brothers, they quickly ordered the Decked system for us and had it here quicker than they had promised. We appreciate the way they took care of us and highly recommend them!
