I have been to many total wine stores in the past. The store manager Daniel gave us the best experience ever. He was extremely knowledgeable about champagne and took his time to recommend us the right one for the occasion. Thank you for your help!

We spend an obscene amount of money on beer there. They have an amazing selection of craft beers, hence the money we spend. The staff is always helpful and super nice, We do have to drive 30 minutes to get there though, wish there was one closer to where we live.

Reasonable prices and logical store set up. Employees are very knowledgeable about wine and have made some good recommendations. They also have discounts for buying in bulk (6-12 bottles). Not an ideal place for selection of anything other than wine.

Brilliant selection, kind and helpful associates, very well laid out. I took two stars because I went in with my (underage) sister, and upon checkout, they asked to see her ID as well. She didn’t have it with her, and is 17, so when they told us she couldn’t even be in the store, I immediately asked her to wait outside for me. They still would not sell to me, saying that it’s “technically selling to minors” and that I needed to come back in 24 hours alone. If that’s the policy, that’s the policy, and I understand it. But this policy was not posted anywhere on the doors, my sister and I were offered a wine tasting by one of the associates (which we did not do), and there was an entire family with young children walking around the store at the same time. Again, I absolutely understand the policy and appreciate the fact it’s enforced, but the way they go about it seems to cause more headaches than necessary to both customers and employees.

They have a internal rating system…. So Danna threw in a comment on a Carvalhas wine… they rejected the review on their site. I guess they don’t like critiques of themselves!! So clearly not to be trusted - with judgement of wines, ratings on their site, and pricing. So instead of keeping the review just on their site with a few to read. I’ve posted it here for all to read. Power to the People! Oh and I won’t be shopping there any more. Here’s the review of Carvalhas they rejected:Same as their 20 bottleI love their $20 bottles so decided to try their upscale label at a much higher $50+ price point. This appears to be the same wine in a heavier bottle with a nicer label. Not worth the extra cost and feels dishonest of both the vintner and Total Wine

I have enjoyed wine all my life. And Tawny Port is my favorite. When I went toTotal Wine I asked if they had Port? Oh yes. Let me show you where. On the way to the Port Wine, I asked if they hadTawny Port? And he surprised me by saying yes. When we got there, he pointed it out to me. So, I can honestly say, the staff is very knowledgeable. Oh, and the Tawny Port was great.

They have a mass selection, but not all beverages are cold. The Cigar prices pale in comparison to what you can get online.

I can find everything from casual wines to fancy celebration wines and my fiancée loves the beer selection. The staff is wonderful and has never led us astray with their recommendations.

The knowledgeable and professional staff combined with both a well stocked and well organized store made my holiday shopping a breeze. The holidays are a crazy busy time of the year in retail and these folks made it look easy.

This is the first time experience at Durham store as we received a 10$ off for 50$ coupon. As you may know their prices are competitive and cheaper than you get elsewhere. So went there with a plan to stock up my wine rack, with open mind to try new varieties other than Cab.s(favourite). As soon you enter the staff ensure you are finding ok, they take their time to help you throughout. I had very knowledgeable and friendly staff to find 2 Tempranillo, Bordeaux superieur(red), blend of pinotage-shiraz, ed, Zinfandel, and a staff recommended portuguese red blend. I look forward to tasting them 1-by-1 in coming weeks.

I sometimes feel bad shopping here when there are a number of good smaller beverage shops in the area, but the location is convenient, and the beer and wine selection is diverse and interesting. Not the best place for kegs, but a decent selection in a pinch

Total Wine is great. Masks needed to enter. Clean as can be. Took my pup in with me and she had a ball. I felt taken care of and safe.

A very expansive selection of wine and beer. The staff here is quite helpful and was able to recommend a wine based on my specifications that was very good. The prices are all very reasonable, and I was able to pick up a couple of very delicious bottles of wine for around $10 each.

Had a great experience with this store. My wife and I come in with little knowledge of wine that we were buying for our wedding. A guy in the wine dept. Helped to pick out a assortment of enjoyable wines. We purchased too much and were allowed to return after the wedding with no hassle.

Total Wine has become a joke in the coupons they offer. You only get discounts if you spend over a 100 dollars. Man I miss the old days where they had great coupons. Now you have so many other great options from other wine stores and grocery stores. I spent a fraction of the money this year versus last year with Total Wine. I hate that is the case. I love the people there.

Best place to get wine for less than the grocery stores. They have a huge selection and its rare that they do not have a specific wine. The employees are also friendly and helpful.

Great selection of wine, we found all our favorites from Oregon. Their cider selection is small, but good. Worth noting for anyone new to NC, they are not allowed to sell liquor, only ABC can sell liquor by the bottle.

Decent wine selection and really good beer selection. They do have some odd vintages though so be sure you know what year you are getting if your are buying any premium wines. They will randomly have some not stellar vintage wine mixed in with the current vintages. For instance, the Cain 5, that Im a big fan of, has usually been the 2011 which was a relatively poor year, when it has been surrounded by 2012, 2013, 2014 of everything else. Yet the 2011 is still there. I cant help but believe they sneak in some poor vintages they buy at low prices and folks inadvertently buy them without knowing they are buying an off year. The other odd thing is that they have the same wine on display and on the shelves in 4 places. (Canyon Ridge) I guess people buy more wine that way. I do like the store but you will get more assistance and knowledgeable guidance at the Cary and North hills locations- this one happens to be the closest to me though. When I spend a fair amount, the manager in Cary has come out and chatted me up, thanked me for the business etc whereas Ive never had that experience here and Ive bought much more here.

I was buying NON alcoholic lemonade and they refused to sell it to me because I did not have my ID with me. They said since they sell alcohol I have to be 21 to enter the store. Well then, you should ask for ID upon entry and not when at check-out. Terrible business model and will not shop here again.

Great selection of wines, ridiculous customer service. First, I was told that someone was always at the wine tasting counter, but it was vacant for several minutes. Then a lady (maybe Stacey, I forget her name) appeared at the counter, and was serving a couple. When I stepped up, she ignored me for a whole minute, then just looked at me. She didnt ask if I would like to try anything, just looked annoyed. I finally had to ask if I could try something - she made me feel like I shouldnt even be there. After the sample, she didnt ask if I liked it, or if Id like to try something else.Amazingly, another customer approached the counter and the store associate smiled at her, and offered her a sample! Something is definitely wrong here...

Never a shortage of decent prices on our favorite wines, and weve been very pleased with everyones recommendations once they get an idea of our preferences. Great place to find a large variety of seasonal and craft beers as well.

Decent wine and beer selection and a good place to pick up a fast selection especially if youre throwing a party. Now with all the small independent wine and bottle shops around, they are not as personal as the smaller stores so you might noir be able to get the best pick for your needs. Also a good place to pick up cold beer since they have a large refrigerated section

Customer service exceeded my expectations. They saw a clueless customer squinting at italian wines and helped me find exactly what I was looking for. Oh, and the wine tastings are cool.

Overall the employees were helpful and cheerful however the cashier just had an annoyed attitude and wasnt very pleasant.

Staff are friendly and very knowledgeable about their huge selection of wines. I enjoyed talking with my cashier about how I was going to use my purchase for cooking!All in all an excellent experience. Not much more I would ask for . . . a clean store, good prices, and excellent customer service!

Aweful customer service. It took me a while to find someone to help, and when I did the man who “helped” me appeared to be a manager was very rude. He made a hand motion to rush me in what I was asking for. He then proceeded to ask me what I was looking for, clearly not listening the first time. He told me I would be ID’d when I checked out. (I’m aware. It is a Wine store...) He then took me to the isle and told me the item I was looking for would be somewhere in that section and said he had another customer to help. He had not mentioned this when he first approached me. I was unable to find the item and left. Will not be returning to this location.
