Nice place, good product. The Glass Jug, beer lab is a nice place, plenty of space to have nice moments. They have three zones: In front, some tables with roofs zone; inside, with board games and, the patio, a zone plenty of tables, nice paintings, just to enjoy the weather outdoors. The beer is really nice. I tried the Hunting Wabbits (Tested like carrot cake, with cinnamon some spices, delicious perfect for fall) and the Cranberry Cinnamon (Gose, drier, delicious). The attention is really nice, the staff are really connoisseur of the product they can guide you in the experience. This place is a must-go in your North Carolina beer culture.
Great local brewery with excellent craft beers. Also have a healthy selection of drafts from other breweries as well as a large selection of cans and bottle from NC and beyond. Beautiful outdoor space in the back where they host events. We are big fans of the trivia on Wednesday nights (6:30 but make sure to arrive early if you want a table or you’ll be on a blanket in the grass!
A great place with a little bit of everything. Dont drink beer? They normally have two ciders on tap. There are also canned hard seltzers and cans to purchase. They have patio seating in the front and the back of the place. We go on Wednesdays for Trivia Night at 6:30pm.
Was out here checking out the area and looked like a cool pub in the area to check out. When I arrived it was early morning so kinda dead.Venue - Place is chill with a store with lots of beers, and a tap area with house brews and good selections to choose from, seating area inside to chill, and a large outdoor area to chill and enjoy drinks.Pricing - The norm for going rates on pours and flights.Service - Very friendly lady in the front and knowledgeable on her drinks.Parking - Lots of parking in the front.Overall its a nice cool place to come chill with friends or even the family.
Its a quaint non assuming place with a chill vibe and great friendly bartenders I havent had in a while. You can come here and shop for your beer, definitely saw many of those, or choose a beer and sit outside in the chill area with picnic tables out back. Its dog friendly so you can bring your dog but not much room for them to run around. I wish Id had a better beer recommendation but their selection seems to fluctuate pretty often so that should bring you in more often.
Probably my favorite spot for a casual beer. I almost decided against this review.. I’m afraid the word will get out about this place’s awesomeness. :)
Really nice atmosphere. Very large selection of beer, ciders, and stouts. They also have attuned snacks and other paraphernalia. Relaxing.
Had a great time here. Fun atmosphere and very friendly staff
I loved it here. Im not a beer person and they picked out a few beers for me to try. And let me just say, I wasnt a beer person before the Glass Jug I am now.It is a friendly place nice atmosphere and they make their own beer. There is a special theme each night of the week. I won 3rd place at trivia night. For my first time, Id say it was a 10 for me.
The service was good despite the high volume and foot traffic for their event. The beer was fresh and definitely worth the drive for.
Wide offerings of beer at expected prices, beautiful space in back with lovely murals and plenty of well spaced seating.Silly to start a movie night at 8 in the middle of June when the screen cant be seen for the first 20 minutes, but hey. That said, why only open til 10 on a weekend night?
Fairly small bar and bottle shop. Best reason to come is their own beers, brewed on site. Love their sours!Seating at the bar is limited but there is outdoor seating in front and back. Various events during the week (like food trucks and trivia) and some games round out the entertainment.Beware of parking lot pot holes!
This place was awesome! They have a great outdoor area with cornhole and disc golf. They have live music. And the beers are fantastic. We will definitely be making this one of our regular spots
This place is great! I went here with my sister and nephew. My sister got a light lager and she really enjoyed it. I don’t drink alcohol so I got a CBD sparkling water and it was delicious. The bartender was very friendly and helpful. They had a very wide selection of drinks. The atmosphere is super cool as well.
Awesome place! Dog friendly! Great selection of beers, ciders. Friendly staff!
This place is very cool. Great selection of their own beers and others. Everyone can find something. Great outdoor space too. Sit back and enjoy a cool one!
The Glass Jug is a one-of-a-kind taproom, the best Ive been to yet. The selection is top notch, and its really cool they make their own beer! The atmosphere there is very welcoming, creative, a unique in its own way. I definitely highly recommend them to all of my friends and family. SUPPORT LOCAL!
Great beer selection. Friendly staff and cool relaxing setup.
Fun place with good brews! Will be back again!
Quality beer selection. They have a lot of fun events here on the weekends. It has a few tables for sitting and drinking draft. The bartenders here are really friendly and helpful! There are quite a few coolers with pre-chilled beer, ready to go. The prices are on par with a typical beer store. It has a really relaxed and laid back atmosphere. If youre down for a low key weekend, this is a great place to spend a couple of hours.
I went here on 5/5/2018 for a few drinks. The place was small but nice. Their drinks list was not as long as lets say the Brier Creek beer Garden but what they have are really good. My favorite was a chocolate infused stout. However, I must say I felt very cold and unwelcome here. The staff was nice to your face however actions speak louder than words. They need some hospitality training about greeting people, about serving people in an orderly fashion...not just your preferred guests first. A few times I felt a bit invisible waiting to place an order at the bar while everyone else around me was served. Could be nothing, could be coincidence or could be my ethnicity but giving the benefit of the doubt to staff. Heres my other problem and it may be unique to me...I go to drinking holes like this not just for the drinks but so I can meet new and interesting people....let me clear not to pick up women or anything like that but just meet and have conversations with anyone really. When I got here around 6.30 PM on a Saturday, it was mostly deserted (see my second photograph). Whoever remained seems to be regulars who for some reason did not even acknowledge my presence let alone speak to me. So weird. Oh well. I probably wont go here again though. Better to spend my Fri or Sat evenings at any of the other bars in the RTP. Thats just me.
Very nice selection of craft beverages. Fine cider assortment, and some tables to enjoy your choice while there
Was there an hour before closing and the manager/employee followed us around everywhere we went cleaning right next to where we would be sitting and doing so annoyingly. We (our group) changed spots twice. He was also very rude when ringing us up as if having guests was too much to handle. So many better bottle shops to give business to.
We love it, our neighborhood bar and bottle shop!
What a great place. Very affordable craft beer. If it’s your first time, I doesn’t look like a brewery from the street, but it is and most of the seating is outback. They always have something going on, and their rotating draft list is great. About 1/3 of the beers they offer and their own, the rest seem to be a collection of local-ish beers.
We love this bottle shop! Great brews and lots of space outside to bring our dog!
Fantastic beer store with very thoughtful beers I havent seen elsewhere
Fun atmosphere! Super cool collection of beers
The Glass Jug Beer Lab has a really nice outdoor area to enjoy these late summer nights. And they have live music, too. Its very family friendly; I enjoy watching the kids play while their parents sit back and relax.
My favorite bar at the moment great beers, excellent cleaning, and plenty of outdoor seating.
The Glass Jug is cool because they are both a microbrewery and a bottle shop, so you dont ever feel like they are forcing their brews on you. That being said, the Raspberry Pi sour if theirs I had was very tasty! The staff were all very friendly towards me and my dog (and gave her several treats). They have a nice outdoor area behind the store to sit at that is nice and secluded from the hustle and bustle of the shopping center. A great place to relax for a while!
Lots of lovely outdoor space for COVID-safe gathering.
Wonderful atmosphere and great selections of beverages. Highly recommended for a quick visit and sit outside enjoying a drink.
Best brewery in Durham. Any beer they make is absolute perfection. Also, their beer garden is a great place to grab a beer on a nice afternoon.
Outside space outback is nice and they have beer.
Love this place! Always such an incredible variety and selection. Great events, activities, and food trucks throughout the year.
Bangin
Good variety of beers on tap with some outdoor seating
Glass Jug is hands down the best craft beer establishment in south Durham. Drafts (including beer brewed there), retail selection, staff, atmosphere...all top notch. They have stellar tap takeovers and fun events regularly. (Trivia, food trucks, themed events ect.) Spacious back patio with picnic tables that is perfect on a summer evening. Or any beautiful day for that matter. The atrium is also a cool area to view the brewery side of the building and is great for a large get together or party. Staff is super knowledgeable, friendly, easy to chat with. The owners, Katy and Chris are the sweetest people. You can tell they genuinely care about the beer community, their customers and their staff. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for awesome beer with a chill vibe. Love love love.
Great beer options, loved the out door seating
Awesome spot, with excellent options. I am a huge fan of the growlers to go. I pick up a few of these every month. There is a beer store, a bar, and a patio out back. A lot more space than what it looks like on the outside.Pro tip: if you like this place, check out Barrel Culture a couple of min up the road. I am partial to the glass jug, but Barrel Culture is close by and worth a try.
I LOVE THIS PLACE. Not only do they have their own awesome brews but they also have a pretty well stocked bottle shop. This is such a nice place to kick back one afternoon and grab beers with your friends. They allow you to bring food from neighboring stores and you have a wide variety of options to choose from
Fancy beer, nice atmosphere, but you have to be into the craft beer scene to fully enjoy it. They have a small shop where you can buy craft beers which is pretty cool to check out. The outside seating is also nice during the Fall or cool summer evening.
Always a great place to go and have good craft beer! Lots of summer events as well
Great location nd selection of take home beers as well as beers on draft. There is a nice area for sitting and hanging out as well. Prices are on par with the market and parking is very easy in this shopping center. Gets busy after work and on the weekends.
This place is becoming a regular go to spot after work with friends. The staff is nice and even provides gear for corn hole if you’re interested. Their rotating beers are good and they have some solid can choices in the fridge at reasonable prices.
Surprised this place has anything less than a 5 star review from anyone. The atmosphere is great. I’ve enjoyed every interaction with the bartenders. Their weekly events are clever and fun. The selection is awesome. Prices are what you would expect given the quality.Overall this place is always my go to watering hole.I try to always bring friends here because it’s a great local spot and really captures the spirit of Durham/Triangle area.
We worked with The Glass Jug Beer Lab for beverages for our wedding, and we had a wonderful experience. They have a great selection of beer and were able to order the wines and even the kombucha that we wanted. They also helped with quantities of the order and we didnt have too much left over. We worked with multiple people there, and they were all very knowledgeable and helpful. We even had to postpone our wedding due to Hurricane Florence, and they were able to take care of our last minute requests. We would definitely recommend them, thank you!
I came here for an after-work gathering on an unusually warm day in February. It is a harbinger of days to come this spring and summer, and Glass Jug will be a great place to spend them. My teammates and I all chose something from the tap, which varied from mead to fruity, hoppy or heavy beer. We really enjoyed the outdoor beer garden, and theres plenty of space inside too. I used to live nearby, and it would have been hard for me to stay away. These guys also have plenty of beers to buy to go. Give them a try!
My friends and I had a great time sitting on the patio out front. No server service but the bar tenders were always ready and the selection was great. Good amount of indoor and outdoor seating for a Thursday evening it was plenty of space.
Wonderful place! I rented the atrium to host my husbands surprise 30th birthday. The atrium was just the right size, I had about 25 people. The owner and the employees were wonderful! Great service, great assistance preparing for the event. It was AFFORDABLE to rent the atrium out. My family and friends loved the beer and wine there, as well as the place in general. We would definitely recommend this place.
Very cool place with good selection plus their own beer is great. Big tables if you want to play board games (as long as its not super-busy). Were lucky its so close!
Routinely awesome service. Great on tap and on shelf selection, and great views of the brewing equipment. Seating out back with food truck rotations some nights. Would love if they had more floor space, but definitely an upgrade from their old location in the same center.
Came from out town today and stopped by this place just now. This place is awesome. The set up is amazing and such an innovative idea. I wish I didnt live 5 hours away, I would have been a regular customer. I wish I could give this place 10 stars.
Today I read on the printed menu at Glass Jug that I could buy a 64 oz growler of a certain beer. I went out to my car and retrieved my growler. After I requested the fill, the owner, Katie, said no. This is not the best response. The best answer would be to allow the growler fill and then change the printed menus with a marker or pen and mark out the growler fill part of that beer’s description.Edit:Thank you for your response. It wasn’t a Firestone beer. It was BBA The Law. What upset me the most is that there wasn’t an apology at the time of the incident... no offers of a free pour or anything to smooth it over... just a hard “no.” I was really shocked at the response since I had been there many times and you knew my face at least. Too many balls in the air is a poor excuse for bad customer service. There will always be something going on.I’ve been to many other local establishments that would have handled this situation better.
Such a fun place and my dog thinks so too. The bartenders loved on her and gave her treats. The beer garden out back is a great place to watch the sunset.
The owners, Katy and Chris are so nice and welcoming. They really make the atmosphere comfortable and relaxed. Plus, they always have the BEST selection of drafts and bottles that are always changing and you will not find in other places. I am so happy to have this place nearby. If you are even remotely interested in beer and want to explore more or if you are a true connoisseur, you MUST go here!
Super friendly local bar with great beer selection and atmosphere. Always have new releases from local breweries that you cant get at the usual spots. They have food trucks on Fridays and do release events with other breweries really often. Great place to hang out.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff! An employee (possibly owner) offered me the last can of a highly saught after beer that he pulled from the cooler when I was checking out. There were none left on the shelf so I was very happy.I tried their mango milkshake IPA (brewed in house). Very tasty. Cant wait to try the rest of their offerings!
Great beer selection as a bottle shop, cool place to hang out as a bar. Best of both worlds. They have several options available at a time that they are brewing themselves. Food trucks occasionally. Nice place to hang outside.
Our family loves coming to the Glass Jug! Dog and kid friendly which is a MUST for a Durham bar! Great selection on tap and in the coolers, along with some non-alcoholic drinks for the DDs and kiddos! Lots of food in the shopping center that you can bring in to enjoy on the back patio. We love the Jug!
Just visited after they relocated down the plaza and the new space is amazing!! As always, the tap list was awesome and the bottle selection was great, friendly staff, and beautiful new space. Had their collab with mystery brewing that killed so I’m pretty pumped to see what comes out when the brewing starts
Its my neighborhood bottle shop, which is handy. The bottle shop options arent as extensive as some other local places, but they stock a lot of brands I love (Burial, Fonta Flora, Brewery Bhavana). Their own Beer Lab also creates a some pretty darn tasty brews as well. Bring your dog or bring them home some Barley Lab treats while you are there.
Really cool place. Great selection of beer and cider. Tried a Stem Cider while I was there and loved it.
The Glass Jug Beer Lab was a great find. They have excellent craft beer on tap and a wide assortment of bottled and canned products. Whats unique at the Glass Jug is their ability to vacuum-seal growlers.
Great selection of beers on tap and tons in their bottle shop. Every night is a different event. Definitely a fun place to check out!
Love this place! Visited the new location today and it is sooo awesome. We brought the kids and hung out in the Beer Garden and it was perfect the kids ran around outside and we relaxed a bit. Plus the owners are super awesome and welcoming! Oh and the beer is great too of course.
This is a great combination of brewery and beer shop! They have a nice selection of beers to choose from and they have a good amount of beers on tap. Don’t forget to go out back and you can play frisbee golf while you drink.
Awesome beers and selections! Indoor and outdoor seating!
Always a great selection and great environment. Love the events they host as well.
The glass jug is a great spot for a quick drink after work. It is conveniently located near RTP and my favorite place for happy hour.
Super knowledgeable and friendly staff. Great place to hang out and play some games while enjoying a great brew.
Hey! Google prompted me to review this place, so here ya go. A completely objective, unbiased opinion. 😉Its an awesome place.
Amazing beer selections from all over were from Michigan and they even had a lot of craft beers from home it was a food truck there and we enjoyed some really nice dishes from there beer to the go awesome taps tons of choices definitely wish I had a place like this around me
Nano-brewery and bottle shop with a nice outdoor drinking area. Plenty of events going on throughout the month. Always some good and unique beers on tap and available for sale.
Great selection of beers on tap. Constantly rotating so you never have to worry about having nothing new to try
Great selection.
I was in town on business and wasnt having much luck finding a decent craft beer bar near my hotel. I came upon this place by chance and loved it. Great selection of drafts plus a lot of bottles and cans. All of the staff were friendly. I will certainly return when in the area.
Favorite bottle shop in Durham because they also make their own small batch beers. A good group of beer geeks who are most concerned about the product and process.
Small place but a very nice environment to kick back after work. Great selection of beer to buy and take home. Occasionally they will also have food trucks out back but brings in a large amount of people.
Great place to grab a few local brews with some friends or colleagues after work. New location has tons of outdoor seating perfect for he spring or summertime evening.
Friendly and helpful service. We really enjoyed the beer. Hello from Michigan!
New space is nice! Love that there are ciders on tap. Hate the fact that sitting at the picnic tables out back means getting bitten by bugs on feet/ankles. Not sure whats in that mulch but the bites are still there on multiple people who were there after 5 days.
They have a new location! Much more room, amazing beer selection, a large outdoor area out back, and they now brew themselves. Well worth checking out!
Great place to pick up your favorite craft beer or try something new from the taps. Plenty of events to enjoy including tap takeovers, tastings, knitting and craft group, JUGS - Just Us Gals beer group and more. The staff is friendly and very knowledgable about beer styles and brands.
Beers are good. Selection is decent. Seating expanded and ample. Sometimes the bartenders can act like youre a nuisance. Not sure if Ive just gone on two really bad days in a row...
Awesome place!! Killer tap list, friendly staff and a great shelf selection! Can even drink out of the cooler for a small corking fee! Makes the selection even better!!
We love it here! And so does our kid...even if she isnt partaking. Thanks for being so friendly and having an awesome beer selection!
This is my favorite local and craft beer spot! They will soon be in a much larger location in the same shopping center, cant wait!
Always a great place to get a brew. Ask for Jonny O and he’ll give great recommendations.
Large selection of beers and great staff. Attended a picture party there. They allow catering too.
Very cool atmosphere and lots of beers to choose from and even a few board games to play while you drink! Outdoor seating in the beer garden covered and uncovered.
Always an amazing selection of beer that is constantly changing. Large and diverse variety of bottled beer. They host different activities throughout the year. They also sell cigars made in Durham.
