Out of town so wasn’t sure where to take my car for service. Called, said it would be an hour or 2 wait (not bad for a Saturday). Got everything done at a reasonable price. Will definitely be back for service in the future. Building was clean.

Despite the busy atmosphere, the manager at the front desk, Tabitha Coffey, was incredibly warm, professional, and a joy to work with. She kept me up to date on the status of the part delivery and on the repair job, and even gave us a much better rate than any of the other local mechanics. 10/10

Do not take your car here!! Chuck, who I guess is the manager, is the rudest man I’ve ever had to interact with. I thought it was because I was a girl honestly, until he also was completely rude and unprofessional to my dad too. I was charged $90 for a diagnostic test where they told me it was my computer. Come to find out it was literally an O ring on my crankshaft sensor (an easy fix, whereas a new computer was $2000). Chuck has no customer service and they left all my cars parts out when I came to pick up my car. Im still missing some screws. Absolute worst customer service I’ve ever encountered!!!

I went to the N. Roxboro St location today to get my car inspected and was helped by Chuck who was completely unprofessional. I have a company vehicle and was told that I just needed to provide Precision with the laminated form my company gave me that has all the information needed for them to get their payment. Everything is on that form. Initially, Chuck had asked me whether I would be providing an invoice. I let him know that I typically do not pay for anything and that the fleet company would be able to provide payment. The inspection took less than 10 minutes which was great, however, Chuck refused to call the number that was on the form and insisted (rather rudely) that he needed to confirm with his manager if he could infact call the number on the form because it was not in their system. He got very defensive even though I stressed multiple times that he just needed to call the number. It got to the point where I had to call my manager and put him on speaker to provide some form of clarity. Chuck was aggressive and refused to provide my manager with the number for his boss and conveniently didn’t know his last name. I will not be returning to this location and have already complained to my company about the hostility from the representative there. I shouldn’t have to wait 25+ minutes for a service that takes less than 10 minutes. If Chuck’s manager wasn’t available he should have called the several other Precision Auto Tune locations in Durham. Surely one of them would have told him what to do instead of having me sit there.

Excellent quick service. Had my car towed in early on a Saturday morning with my right front wheel pointing perpendicular to the car. Despite it being before opening time, the manager Chuck was there early and had the flatbed truck unload my car directly into a bay. What a pleasant surprise when they completed repairs on my car well before noon. Thanks to Precision Tune and especially to Chuck and the fantastic techs working at this location.

Came here for a state inspection, since the inspection person at my local Precision was out. Had a great experience; the lady at the counter was super friendly, and they made sure I got taken care of as quickly as possible. Would definitely come here again.

Got alignments, brakes, caliber, & tires done. A little slow...but I dont want anybody rushing on my safety of my vehicle. Short handed...supposed of got car back same day...but got back nxt day. Going back Monday. Feel like same or another issue with brakes. Overall good. Could be better

Dont get me wrong. This Precision Tune does adequate work, although once, when I asked that they make sure the low tire pressure light was out when I left after an oil change, it wasnt. I brought it back and they somehow got it off, but I got half way to Roxboro and it was on again. That was a Saturday, and they must have been unable to get me tires because they didnt even suggest it as an option.Which brings me to my main complaint: almost every time I take my car there, usually for an oil change, they try to tell me I need the kitchen sink while Im at it. They told me I needed brakes once and I didnt have the money at the moment. A couple of weeks later, I went to Firestone for tires and asked them to check the brakes. They said they were fine. PT said I might get another 3000 miles out of them. That was over 10k miles ago and Ive had the car back to PT twice since for oil changes and they said nothing about the brakes.The owner or manager is the worst about this up-selling. The first time I went here, right after they opened, he tried to tell me I needed control arms on the front to the tune of over $900. This was on a car Id just bought and only paid $3000 for so I was reluctant to shell out that much. Good thing because I took it elsewhere and was told they were fine. Im really getting tired of this.

Good service and fair price

I have always had great experience at this place. With Covid they suggested to wait in the car until they were working on my car. They told me about 40min wait and it was almost exactly. I have never felt like they were trying to up charge me by trying to get me to add on services, but they will inform me the very few times that there was a problem like brakes. Almost every time I am not approached with something to do that I didnt come in for, which I appreciate!

I absolutely and highly recommend PTAC. They staff is always friendly and Chuck goes above and beyond in making me feel like home when I am there. They even take care of my daughter whos in college, when she needs it. I feel I can always trust them and never had to worry about being taken advantage of. The prices are definitely cheaper in comparison to the place I used prior to them (down the street) and they let you know what other things you may need, but not pushing it on you or scaring you into feeling pressured to have the work done. And even with the cheaper prices, the work is always high quality. Ive never had to return or had any issues after having our vehicles serviced. Definitely have a continued customer in me!

I went there for brake service. After 1 hour of wait time, I was told that they needed the key for my wheel locks but that it is missing. I went to the car to look for it. I had used it recently, right after changing my tires and placed it in the packet that it arrived in together with a set of regular wheel nuts. I know exactly where it was, in a separate compartment inside the trunk.Now the slot for the key was empty. Curious that they determined it was missing even before I was able to check for it in the place where I was storing it myself.I asked them if they have a wheel lock removal tool, so that we can take care of the breaks job. Their mechanic said that he does but he would have to charge me extra for using it because he paid over $200 for it.Professionals that you cant trust? Yeah right. Nice customer service!Im trying not to assume that my wheel lock key went missing at their shop, but the customer service is less then adequate.Im taking my business somewhere else.

I do not recommend at all. My car turned off and would not turn on, got towed to precision tune auto car because they accept my warranty. Quickly called me to let me know the issue and the cost, fixed the battery and the fuse. After paying $400 they next day I had the same issue!!! Simply to say I was upset and refused to go back. Took my car to FIRESTONE and the issue was just the alternator which my warranty covered. No issues since then.In short, I felt Chuck was very unprofessional and just wanted to get my cart out as fast as he could. He told me that most warranties don’t cover batteries so he didn’t see no reason to call. When in all actuality my warranty would have covered the battery and the fuse because the alternator is what was causing the issue the whole time .

I went there to get engine oil changed on the 1st of March 2021. I arrived there precisely 8:06 AM, and I was the 3rd customer who placed a service-order. They did not follow the first-in-first-out service order. I noticed the technician took the 4th customers car and working on it, cutting me from the line.After 1hour and 15mins waiting time, they took my car inside the garage and done the oil change, tire rotation and courtesy inspection in around 30 mins. I was growing concerned about the dealy and keeping track of the time. So, around 9:45 AM, one of the service writers informed me that the power-steering fluid is completely bad and changing the break-fluid is recommended. So, I order a power-steering fluid flush&change and a break-fluid flush&change. Surprisingly, they got these two services done in less than 15 mins, which made me super dubious about their service quality. Later, I researched whether these two tasks are possible to get done in less than 15 mins. And the answer is NO with flashing out the old fluid and replacing it with new.After a few days, I called and asked them whether those two services can be done in less than 15 mins; the call receiver replied that both tasks would take around an hour, of course not possible in less than 15 mins.I am very disappointed with this service locations poor professionalism and dishonesty. They charged me the total price of the two services in addition to the oil change, but they did not flush the old fluid out for sure! Thats complete cheating!My request to my fellow customers, beware of their service recommendations and take them with a grain of salt.

I went to check this place out about a week ago in need of a tire patch and a state inspection. Spoke in person with Billy about what needed to be done, and he told me it would be about 45 minutes until they could start (it was busy). In a little over an hour, the patch was in place and the inspection complete! Very nice, very professional and helpful in answering questions regarding my issues. I will return for future work. Thanks Billy and everyone in the shop!

Came in to get a new battery installed, and just gotta say, customer service was horrible. They didnt even install the battery correctly. The terminal was NOT even tightened correctly and then the next day my car ended up not wanting to start or do anything. After looking under the hood, noticed the terminal on the positive end was loose, literally was able to lift it up with my hand, and to top it off they did not even put the positive cap back onto the battery. I even called the store, and the manager Chuck was just rude, nasty, and disrespectful. Wouldnt even let me speak. I have been going here for a while as well to get my usual oil change, but after this incident Ill never go back again, all they care about is money. I even remember when one of the guys had told me I needed my engine filter replaced and if i wanted to do it. I said yes and then he went thru the glass door saying i got a sale. Please dont waste your time or money coming here.

The second car I had tires put on. Both times rims were damage. I wont be returning. We work hard to keep are cars looking nice. The last thing you wont is damage from simply putting on tires. Very Disappointing!!!

My wife just called me in tears, saying the man that answered the phone was rude and talked down to her as if she knew nothing. The fact is this place is the only people that opened the hood of my car until she got stranded on the roadside today. When she did open the hood the radiator cap was loose and spraying fluid all over the place. Being that she took it in for a oil change and fluids top off. The radiator reservoir was bone dry, steering brake fluids was at minimum line. I question the service and the integrity of the tech, the management and the business

Friendly associates, quick service! I was turned away at a place down the road and told that I could leave my car and they would get to it the next day at 2 hours until closing. Came to Precision Tune and they took me right back and i was done in 30 minutes. I will be back.

This location is clean, quick, friendly and the lowest price I can find in the area. Had my synthetic oil changed there 2 times now and Ill likely will not be going anywhere else. I dont know how they do it for less money and have been waiting for the other shoe to drop but so far so good.

I stopped in on September 24th for an oil change. I wanted the $19.90 special, but because my car runs on synthetic, there was an upcharge. No big deal, it wasnt but a $20 difference and they helped me find a coupon that included topping off under hood fluids and a tire rotation. I did express my concern about a tire rotation because I had been told a few month prior, by another business, that my tires werent in good enough repair for a rotation since my car is front wheel drive. They assured me it was fine. As a previous reviewer mentioned, they did try to up-sell me on a radiator flush and a power steering flush.....but I figured, things like that are par for the course at places like this. So, I denied those extras and that was that. After leaving that day, I was mid-way back to Roxboro when they called me to inform me that I needed to come back because whoever was working on my car forgot to put one of the hub caps back on after doing the tire rotation. I told them Id stop back by on my way back through Durham that afternoon. When I first got there the gentlemen I spoke with acted like it was an inconvenience to get my hubcap and put it back on....All that being said, the kicker was today, not quite 3-weeks later. Randomly my car began running hot. I quickly got pulled over and got the hood up, only to find things covered in radiator fluid and the radiator cap barely on; not at all adequately screwed in like its supposed to be. The reservoir was also bone dry, so apparently I had unknowingly been driving around these past few weeks blowing coolant from the improperly installed radiator cap, and today it got low enough to actually start running hot. I was able to get some distilled water in it and make it the rest of the way home, where I called PTAC to discuss this with them, as I havent even popped the hood since they were under it on the 24th. The man who answered the phone was extremely rude and condescending and acted as if there was no way they were at fault. Considering there has been no one else under the hood of my car, I know for a fact, it absolutely was them. After going round and round a few times he finally said, Well, just bring it here and Ill take a look and see. But, between his rude demeanor and talking down to me as if I was an idiot who didnt know what I was talking about, I wont be taking it back there. Im thankful that I caught their error in time so that my entire engine didnt get damaged or locked up, but I can absolutely guarantee that they will never get my business again.

I went to get my oil changed as well as an inspection and they were fast and efficient. They informed me I would need breaks soon and how much that would cost me. They did not push me into getting them done at that time like some other mechanic shops have in the past. They were friendly and very affordable, I will use them again in the future.

When I took my car in for an oil change and tire rotation, my car did not have any lights on it. When driving it out of the station, it seems to have most of the lights to come on the car which was the ABS system, tire pressure, steering wheel, and the anti slide light was on. I spoke with the manager at the station and brought my car back up there because he said that there was a sensor that had went bad but I have not had the car for 2 years and no major issues before. Than the manager was nasty towards me and then I reach out to the district manager for assistance. He said that he felt like the car was unsafe to drive and therefore told me that he will tow the car to another location and see what could have happen. Instead he accuse it to be my fault and tried to make me pay for a new sensor and towing. Than he was rude to me on the phone to the point that I had to just hang up. He stated to me while I was on the phone that he would not like for me to return. He does not care about losing my business. He stated that because I have different size tires is because of the sensor error well come to find out all I had to do was replace the tire and it resolve the issue instead of pay $200 and something to get a sensor replace. I can not believe that during the roughest time of this year, that people can treat you mean and disrespectful. I will never return.

Every time I have gone in there, the service has been a bit slow. Im not sure if it was because there werent many mechanics, or if there were a lot of people ahead of me, but it took close to an hour before they could get to me. The inside is great, clean, and is super inviting. Bathrooms are clean as well, like everyone else says. Prices are great compared to other local auto shops. I just wish they were a bit faster, or else theyd have 5 stars.

Have been going here since it became a Precision Tune and I have never been totally ignored like I was about 30 mins ago. The guy ahead of me with a burgundy Hyundai Azera got the same treatment. He was waiting to pay and get his keys and was being ignored as well. If they were that busy then one of the three guys standing by the desk should have at least stuck their head through the glass door to let me know. Went down the road to Mr. Tire....

I wanted to note that I have never waited to long for my vehicles... they are always as fast as Mr. Jeff tells me in the beginning that it will be. I really appreciated the professionalism of the staff and emphasis on customer service. I arrived at 4:50PM, knowing that they close at 6PM, and fully expected to get pushback at starting work on my car at that hour. I was pleasantly surprised to be told that they had time and would be there until all work was complete. Then I asked about rates for the state inspection, intending to bring my vehicle back on another day for that service. I was asked if I wanted to add the inspection to the work I was having done, which I did, once more impressed that they made my needs a priority instead of worrying about the time. The waiting room was very clean with a nice sized TV, the chairs were comfortable, and there was also a Kids Corner with TV. My car was ready by 6:15PM. The mechanic smiled, handed me my keys and wished me a good night. It all seemed very genuine. Overall a great experience and I am glad they set up shop in North Durham. I will definitely be back.

Honest service is done here. Kevin is a reliable source and knows what he is talking about. Great and genuine work was done ✅ on my car. Also, inside the waiting area is clean, comfortable, doesn’t smell, and the bathrooms are clean. They have a kids corner which I love. They even have snacks and coffee! 😍I went to costco for the issue on my car a couple months ago, the people there told me I would need 4 new tires, alignment and rotation. At precision tune auto care, they found the NAIL in my tire which was causing the problem and also found my other tire rim was BENT. What a BIG PRICE DIFFERENCE and I am so grateful they found the REAL problem not just want my money. 💁🏼‍♀️

Came in to get my vechile inspected and was greeted at the door by a very friendly and respectful service writer. He assisted me right away and had a great personality. The state inspector/mechanic Robert was very professional and time efficient as my service was complete in under 30 minutes. I usually love Precision Tune but this location I dont trust as i had more things wrong with my car than i did when i went there for an oil change. I will try another location the next time I need my oil changed.

A 3 because I got an alignment and car still stears to to the left a little. Shouldnt the mechanic take it for a test drive first? Other than that the price was decent.

They lied, charged me for the better package and just did the basic. I will not go back!!

This is my 2nd trip there. The prices are very affordable comparatively, but oftentimes you get what you pay. At my 2nd trip for an oil change, I tried to drive off and the car could barely move without choking. The guy who was at the front desk told me that had a potential to happen based on the free diagnostic they gave me. Fortunately, after sitting in my car distraught for a few minutes, Mike who worked on my car was kind enough to recheck the car. He found that they forgot to add transmission fluid back to the car. Im sure mistakes happen and Im thankful they were honest about theirs, but I dont think Ill be returning. I didnt like the way the front desk guy just wrote me off without checking the car first. 🤷🏾‍♀️On a positive note, they have a kids area that kept the kids distracted with a large screen tv.

People first of all places like this are only after one thing!!! YOUR MONEY!!!! Also if anyone ever pays a place like this to scan your vehicle Engine Light Code then come some me I will be happy to scan your trouble code for a small fee of $1.00. Then I will also tell you for that Dollar what the code means. People you can go to AutoZone and they will for FREE scan your OBD and give you all the information for free!! You dont need to pay any place to scan your vehicle and yes they will reset the light as well for free. Its beyond me why people will throw their hard earned money away.

Currently broken down on the side of the road with a broken caliper after having breaks done at this location yesterday. Thank God this error did not cause an accident or get someone killed. The shop is closed on Sundays, so not able to contact until tomorrow. I will be calling at 8AM sharp. What a pain...tow truck, kids in the car, missing a family reunion. Im so angry.Monday update: Shop is seeing what they can do to make this right. I will update with final resolution.

Not great. I don’t normally leave reviews but to the mechanically challenged person we rely on trust and I think this might not be the place for great service. Wife took her car in for oil change, and they didn’t reset her car so it was showing a code. I took my truck in for oil change and they rotated my tires but didn’t check tire pressure. One tire was at 30psi the rest close to 40. What else didn’t they do on the list of stuff that comes on deluxe oil change.

Pretty good turn around time and good customer service.

My mom took her car there starting in March. She picked her car up after spending about $1400 and the issue was not resolved. She took it back a second time, free of charge and within a couple of days, they claimed the issue was resolved. She drove it for about two to three days and the problem came back. She took it again for the third time. It was taken elsewhere for a second opinion and the issue was still not resolved . She spoke with Precision Tune and the car is still not fixed and there is nothing they could do ! We are thinking of taking this matter to court because the car was misdiagnosed three different times and none of the things they supposedly did fixed the problem but yet we are put of the money. If the mechanical are certified, diagnosises are should be certified. There should be a no star for this type of mess up.

Took them 2 HOURS for a oil change/tire rotation on a wednesday morning, not crowded. They are cheap but its not worth the wait. Will not be coming here again!

My wife went in for a routine oil change. Before checking out the service desk explained how she needed new air filters. He them proceeded to tell her because the filters are so expensive they dont charge labor. She proceeded to buy them thinking they were giving her a deal when in fact they build labor into the cost of the filters. The same ones can be purchased for $10-15 at any auto store. I dont do well with dishonesty nor do I appreciate people taking advantage of those who are not knowledgable on the subject matter. Jeff heard my complaint, so kudos to him. I will never do business here again.
