The first time I walked in their door it felt like family, not a business. Everyone there is very polite and not only do they give a free inspection, they also go into details about the problems with your vehicle and give you an upfront price and a very well estimated wait time while they fix the problems. Ive been here a few times already fixing up my vehicle at my pace and they will continue to have my business from here on. I very highly recommend having Tjaden Automotive take care of your vehicle. Not only are they local, but they will beat the pricing of any major company every time!

I had a fantastic experience at Tjaden. When I put off replacing my brakes too long they were able to fit my car in and repair it the next day. They were very friendly and open and honest. They informed me that the previous shop that had replaced my brakes did not even though they had charged me for it and shared that that shop should replace the parts for free. However due to moving that was not possible. I will definitely come back for all my future car needs.

I love this company they are locally owned and a very nice customer service always. They actually have been the best price I found so far for a oil change plus they dont try to push any other services on me they tell me if I need other stuff done and leave the rest to me without a hassle I would definitely recommend them

The team at Tjaden always does an amazing job. I know next to nothing about cars, but I can tangibly feel the difference in my car while driving it after taking it in. They redid some brake repairs I had unsuccessfully attempted on my own, and they found a serious problem with my suspension that I wouldn’t have found myself. To be clear, although they educate, they never pressure me to fix things, and their prices seem to be lower than most. I’ve been here three times now because I feel that I can trust them to do a great job at a very fair price. Won’t go anywhere else!

Exceptional customer service, even when not a customer! I called from out of state to ask about an inspection on a local vehicle purchase. Stacy was so kind and helpful. She offered to look over the vehicle fax report and do a physical inspection if needed. Their expert offered wise advice regarding a mechanical concern. I felt they were truly looking out for my best interest with absolutely nothing to gain since I am not a local. I was amazed at the overall professionalism and kindness if this business.

Very awesome! When our window wasn’t working they suggested the part that was most likely to be the reason, while fixing it they worked something loose and it was working without the part! Free inspection, very trustworthy, just in general a great place to go to

I received prompt service and inspection on my vehicle, the folks were very nice and likeable, and the price was right. They offered me other services that made sense were affordable, and would greatly contribute to the longevity of my vehicle. They offer a comprehinsive service plan which is something I havent really seen elsewhere, so if you really care about your car and want to keep it in til top shape, these guys are where you want to go.

These guys dont mess around! They looked at my vehicle a few times and gave me very fair pricing and many options to pick from. They also gave their honest and professional opinion which is a good thing when it comes to your car and safety. Pricing was fair and no feeling of getting ripped off. The waiting room was clean and had a clean bathroom. The staff is friendly but they have the get work done attitude which is nice!

Quick oil changes!

Brought my jeep to them for a squeaking and creaking. They gave my vehicle a check let me know about somethings I didnt know were wrong, with quotes. Had shocks and struts replaced price was very fair and reasonable. My second visit to them unfortunately was my ball joint breaking so I had my jeep towed in. They had my jeep back to me the next morning. Started working on it on a Monday Tuesday morning they were finished. Theyre quick, fair in pricing and super nice. They are upfront and honest. They even stood and listened while I explained all the noises I heard coming from my vehicle. I am sure my descriptions were a little funny. Yes this is a super long post but bottom line these folks are great and I definitely found a new place to take my jeep too!!!

I was broke down on side of road needing a new alternator. Steve from Tjafen’s stopped by on way from lunch, asked what issue was, went to shop and got me a charger to drive to shop(no towing charge). Price to repair better than expected, and I was on the road in no time. Truly an exceptional experience!!!

SEEM TO BE HONEST PEOPLE WHICH IVE HAD A HARD TIME FINDING WITH BUSINESS IN THE METRO AREA SINCE I MOVED HERE 11 YEARS AGO!

Brandon is a great person to work with both professionally and personally. Not only is he incredibly knowledgeable in his work but he is honest as well. I took a brand new vehicle to his office for an oil change and he noticed that there wasnt enough oil in there for a new car. He recommended I keep an eye on that to avoid future issues. Some places would just complete the sale and not explain whats going on but Brandon went the extra step for me.

Would recommend Tjaden to everyone. I was shopping for a used car, brought one in for a 128 point pre sale inspection(40.00). They test drove it, it had bad wheel bearings on all four wheels. I was told before even putting it on the rack. They did not charge me the inspection fee, and I did not buy that vehicle. The vehicle I currently own and drive now I brought it in and the complete inspection was done. Well worth the money! I needed front rotors and pads, used the inspection as a negotiating tool and had the price reduced 300 dollars. I bought the parts and had Tjaden do the repairs. Fast friendly and fair!!!

I’m from Cedar Rapids but had car troubles in Des Moines on a Sunday. After reading Google reviews I chose this place, and don’t regret it one bit. I’ve never had such a good experience at a mechanic. They were so helpful, and were understanding with finances, giving me a priority list of what I needed to fix most, and sending me a quote to my email quickly. I can only hope that the next time I have car problems it happens in Des Moines so I’m able to give them my business.

Brandon Tjaden was recommended to us by a friend of a friend on facebook when we were having issues with both our vehicles. They got us right in, accessed the vehicles quickly and drew up a list of repairs. He then helped me select the items that were urgent and let me know which could wait as we couldnt afford everything at once. He was so honest with me and at no point did he try to sell me on anything I didnt need. His prices are fair and comparable with the big name shops. He is upfront with the cost and doesnt surprise you with added fees. We will be doing all our maintenance here in the future.

I have been using Brandon for about 3 years now as my mechanic. He always gets me in right away when I need an oil change and makes it easy on my schedule. He also keeps it real and does not try and up-sell you on stuff you do not need. He runs an honest shop and will continue to use him even after moving to Indianola.

I’ve been on the road in Rural IA for 3 wks for work. By the time I made it to Des Moines I was in desperate need of new tires, rear brakes, oil change and a cple other things I later found out but my window was 1 day off to try to get it fixed. I found great reviews for Tjaden Automotive and I submitted a request for service but it was after hours i didn’t think I had a chance to get in so last minute. BUT Brandon responded to my request almost right away and it was late so I didn’t expect such a quick response which was awesome. He had a def answer for me first thing in the morning had my car in the shop by the afternoon and finished super timely. Brandon kept great communication with me throughout the day about my car. These guys are honest, reasonable, super friendly and I didn’t feel for a second that they were out to upsell or take advantage of me. I sought out this shop bc of the reviews and I’m happy to add such a positive experience to the wall. I understand why they’ll need to move to the new and bigger shop bc with service like theirs they are great. I happily recommend these guys they only place you should go. I would not let these guys work on the car. The part that they installed had a 1 year warranty and it failed. They didnt want to honor that warranty, had to pay for labor again. Dont play dumb when you bought the part from AutoZone
