Bought an awesome sectional couch from Marjen and the delivery/moving guys Gustavo and Gio are the best, dedicated, kindest guys there are. They made the move much easier and less stressful. Both phenomenal assets for Marjen! However much they get paid, they need a raise because these guys go above and beyond to make sure your quality furniture is protected and safe and FITS!

Moved to Chicago and wanted to find a couch without waiting 6-8 weeks for delivery. I was greeted by staff the moment I walked in the door. I told them I was looking for something they had in-stock and that was brown or tan. He showed me 5-6 options, all great quality for less than what I would have spent at a larger chain. I was in and out and less than 30 minutes. I am writing this review two days later from the sofa that has already been delivered!Will definitely be looking at Marjen for any future furniture purchases.

Im honestly pretty shocked at these reviews! My partner and I have now purchased from Marjen on three different occasions over the last couple years and have always had a lovely experience with them.Their prices are great, the service is always top notch. Theyre your typical Chicago guys - no nonsense, knows their product, and everything is hand written. Each time we have been promised an item on a date, we have received it at exactly that date and time. All but one of our purchased items were in stock, which may make a difference here.I honestly highly recommend them. Adter an absolutely horrible experience with a bigger names company, I intend on bringing my future purchases back to Marjen, too.

Got a great Regatta Sofa Bed from Marjen! The click clack kind with storage. Very nice! Delivery went smooth as silk. Gave the delivery guys some bucks to remove the old one. They were very friendly and efficient. I bought my first one there. They last forever. Very pleased with the quality and friendly service. Highly recommend Marjen!

Really bad costumer service, not a fan of their upper management to say the least. 99% Sure that this place is a scam since Im well past my delivery date, havent been called, havent gotten my items, my phone calls with them about it havent been good. I needed a new bed for the guest room in less than two days! I found a queen size platform bed and memory foam mattress on the website. I called and they had similar items in stock and very similar pricing. The bed was delivered and set up the very next day. The entire process was wonderful. Thank you Marjen Furniture of Chicago!!!

BUYER BEWARE! STAY AWAY AT ALL COST!If I could give this a zero I would. For everyone having trouble with getting your items, know you arent alone. Did you finance you purchase like we did and then wait double the amount of time that they promised in store only to be yelled at by a manager on the phone? Great, you are not alone. We waited 2 months for the credit card to dispute it, we made a verbal agreement on time. We explained to staff in store, that we bought from them because they promised half the delivery time of the 4 stores we went to before! They passed the other stores waiting times and refused to break their contract. If they made you a promise, did not keep it or your contract says a different delivery date, fight it with the card company.They lied to make a sale on black Friday, blamed it on covid (which is not our fault that they cant get an item), had a literal manager scream at us on the phone over the fact this contract is binding (contracts made in good faith, then broken by them not upholding their part can be broken legally.), yelled that I dont know the law, also suddenly had the item in the warehouse at 9 weeks, 5 weeks after you said you would! You also never called us once to say it would be late, we found when we called to cancel it. 0/10 your manager is a real jerk.ADVICE: Spend the money at an actual company like Ashely Furniture, everything this company sells you is from them anyway. The big difference, if you buy directly from Ashley Furniture they will take items back if you arent satisfied. Not to mention they will get it faster than a private company like this. Any date they tell you that is faster than Ashley Furniture is a lie, there are other reviews below mine that claim this store did the same thing to them. So please, please dont shop here. Buy elsewhere and protect yourself, because they do not care as long as they get to keep your money. It truly is, 100% a scam and they are praying on people who dont know better,

Bought a dresser there before and went back when we needed a sectional couch. They have a warehouse on site so there is no wait. They delivered it and set it up quick.Update: four months in and the couch is bbunk. Marjen says design flaw, call Ashley furniture. Theres nothing they can do with my collapsing couch. The dresser is still very good.

I had hoped the store would be better, but I should have paid attention to the reviews when I was shopping here months ago. They are basically a scam, whether or not you get the item in the time frame they promised means nothing to them. You signed a contract that they fully plan to keep you even if they dont fulfil their side of the deal. Which in our case was not being able to supply items weeks after the promised arrival date.I saw someone elses review where they went through the same issue and challenged the credit card company due to them basically breaking the contract and was let out. Im willing to bet this is something that can be broken in small claims court.

GREAT Place with great deals.Have gotten pieces from here for years. .. Went in on Sunday 6.7.20 Delivery 6.9.20 a little pricey, for a mile, set up they were in and out in 15 minutes.. Very Happy about my new counter table, and glad they were able, and willing to swap out the bar stools for 2 high back chairs, and Mark & Ron were great, Now that I have the table, and chairs. Don’t waste your time with this place. Ordered furniture that was torn up during delivery (by them) and was told multiple times they would send someone to fix it. They never did! This is since June of last year. Now they won’t even answer their phone. Horrible experience all around.

The delivery was made like the next day.Although, there was a wait on the headboards, I was pleased with the service I received.Making the purchase was easy, the delivery persons were respectful and professional. This place is a wild scam! watch out! they took payment of almost $2,000 and we never received most of our furniture! they brought one item and broke 2 light fixtures (no reimbursement) bringing it in.-take photos of whatever you purchase, make sure you add up the prices (they tried to overcharge us several times and we had to correct them?!) and if you have any “wait” involved with your order just cancel it-you’ll never get it.(just look at the hostile way they react to reviews on this site, that’s really bad!!)

Thankfully they hooked us up with a great deal and we scheduled delivery for a few days later.The delivery was very timely and the team had everything set up fast.Unfortunately, when they removed my coffee table from the box they noticed that it was chipped. Thankfully they told me they could leave the chipped table and order a replacement right away.The replacement table did take a month to come in, which I dont really blame Marjen for since I dont know how their replacement efforts work with distributors. But once it came in we scheduled delivery and it was smooth.I had to call a few times over the month in order to get it sorted out, but every time I called, Marjen was receptive and gave me updates.Overall, if youre looking for good discount furniture in the area you can trust Marjen.Thanks Mark & Ron!

I really liked this store! It had a slightly disheveled, retro feel - but I was dealing with the owner and family - nothing like the impersonal chain places. The guy I was dealing with absolutely know his products and answered all of my questions. I found the easy chair I wanted, we came to agreeable terms, the delivery was just as promised. A real pleasure - and no drama!

I went there looking for small space furniture, the salesman on the floor was very rude and not patience, when I was trying to explain what I wanted and need, he just ignored what I was asking for. He was trying to sale me some floor model not at all what I wanted. Ive never encountered any sales like him. If can go some where else.

Ordering furniture at the location went just fine and people were nice. However when the delivery men came, my elderly mother asked them to please help her move a drawer not even a couple of feet away to the dumpster, they said 20$ to move. its for my lunchAt the location when ordering I asked if they could please move the old dresser drawer and they said if its close to the dumpster its fine. They said nothing about an extra charge.It was rude of them to say that to my mom. She is not obligated to buy you lunch. Since I was at work at the time she had no choice but to give them cash.I have no issue with a fee for moving furniture, but that wasnt stated beforehand and I felt they were taking advantage of my elderly mother.

Always a great experience

I had a great experience. Contrary to majority reviews. I went there with an idea of what I wanted. Prices were great and affordable. I was assisted immediately. Mark was helpful. I called to ask more details about the item, and purchased it the next day. The couch I wanted was not in stock at the store, but was available at their warehouse. It came fairly fast and was delivered and assembled 3 days earlier than the approximate date I was given. I was given an acceptable window for delivery of between 4pm-7pm. They came some time after 5 pm and called me first, to make sure I was home. That was courteous. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and absolutely reccomend giving them a try, despite some of the reviews.

I shopped at Marjen Furniture on June,1 2018. I had purchased furniture in the past from Marjen. I went into the store wanting a different bed frame. However, it was flimsy in structured. I purchased a bed frame for $100 dollars more. Anyway I was very happy with the choice I finally made. Ron and Ken were professional, helpful, and took there time in explaining the products to me when asking questions.I was able to get financing and left the store with a queen bed frame, pillow top mattress set, and chaise lounger. Weve now purchased three large items for our living room from this wonderful store. The Customer Service is fine considering theyre in sales but not overbearing salesmen which is greatly appreciated. On that note, the gentlemen here are very helpful, quick and easy transactions. The one time we needed a delivery, everything was delivered and arrived on time and as expected. The reviews here are interesting as it seems people are concerted with its tight space and lack of a fancy showroom. Also, relax.... Not everyone is online, has time/money to invest a self managed computer database. Keep up with your own paper work, receipts and theyll work with you.Well be back.... Trust.

My boyfriend and I walked in to purchase a new couch and dresser, but the first time we came in we were only looking. After looking through other furniture stores, there was just no way we could pass up Marjen.Not only did we find exactly what we wanted, but they had the best prices in the city for brand new furniture. And the staff was incredibly helpful, kind, and informative when we were placing our order. They didnt try to up-sell us, which I appreciated because we were on a pretty strict budget.We also had the furniture delivered and set up on our apartment. Dont listen to the bad reviews. These guys were good. No pressure, no hassle, and they explained everything about the furniture, the prices, the warrantee, the order, and the delivery so thoroughly. They even offered to deliver the next day! We had to go with the day after, but they were totally understanding. The delivery guys followed our instructions to deliver in the back of the building off the alley and they were pros, bringing two pieces of furniture up to the third floor and setting up with ease. Everything about buying from Marjen was great. 10/10 would buy again.

Initially I had a great experience with the company having a great customer service experience and easily buying my furniture options. Upon move in day that all changed not only did they get my move in time wrong they said I was lying about having the right time (even though my receipt validated my claim). They also delivered my furniture over 5 hours late and refused to update me during that time period. Horrible experience and the only reason I didnt give one star is because my initial experience was not terrible.

I love going to Marjen Furniture of Chicago. Today was my second time going there and I had the same pleasant experience I did as when I went there the first time. Ron, Grant, and Mark are always so pleasant to deal with. This furniture is good quality furniture. I can say that I will always go to Marjen Furniture for my furniture needs.

I have purchased from Marjen multiple times. I think the furniture is overall a good value. I recently had a problem with a purchase. I think the final resolution was fair. Some actions on my part made for a long time to resolution, but Marjen didn’t do everything perfectly either (no human is perfect!). I wouldn’t say customer service is outstanding, but it is good with respect to the value of the products they sell. Sometimes tone of voice of the phone might be a little gruff (I honestly think this is a cultural thing) but if you are a reasonable and kind person, they will work with you to arrive at a fair outcome.

Here is the deal, if you are looking for cheap affordable furniture and you dont trust online stores, or want to physically see the product before you buy it then this is the place to go, experience will vary per customer, some will rate it high because they went in, ordered and got their stuff on time with no issues and didnt have to deal in person with any issues, some like my self had to deal with issues regardless if it was their own fault, or not (mine was my fault) and then they will have to deal with the only negative side of this place, customer service, place operates with the old mentality that didnt hold the customer on a high pedestal regardless of the situation, which sadly in this day and age is a must have with all the online competition going on, would I go there again? properly not, I didnt like my own experience and it kind of left me with a bitter taste in my mouth and I wouldnt do it again, I waited to write this review because honestly if I did two years ago Id have given them 1 star, its cheap but keep in my you get what you paid for, for me the sofas I got barely made it two years before starting to fall flat and have many issues with moderate use but I know that I didnt buy the highest quality furniture so I should have expected that and they are still functional.Overall shop inventory: 4/5, Price: 5/5, Quality: 3/5, Customer Service with no issue 4/5, Customer Service with issues 1/5The owners could take this review either way, I dont care but this is the most honest review they will ever get, they can ignore it, or work on improving their customer service and expanding their customer base.

This is my favorite furniture store in Chicago. The prices are great and the customer service is polite and courteous. I have bough a lot of furniture here (futon, dresser, kitchen table, bed, and computer desk) and each time I have been completely satisfied. The last time I went there was after work, and after purchasing the bed they asked if they could deliver today as it was a local delivery. I went home and they arrived 10 minutes after I arrived home.

Their so kind and patient. They make you feel prepared for whatever it is that youre looking for. They come together and they put their minds together and tell you what it is that youre looking for and they will create a magical place called home for you.

We have purchased a sofa from this shop and had a very bad experience in terms of delivered item, support & specially customer care. During purchasing the item they assured that this furniture is from Ashley, a big & good brand and you will not face any problem with service & support. When we have received our item we found that it was defective and we have communicated the same to them with all pictures & details (as they asked) but didnt get any response in next 3-4 weeks then again we called up and they said that they were waiting for a part which need to be replace. We waited for 4 more weeks and didnt get any response back even when we called up to those people we got a very unfriendly response. We have called Ashley and they said they cannot help us, we have to talk to that shop from we have purchased. We have sent many emails with details & pictures even called them number of times but didnt get a single reply back.

I purchased a mattress from them and in less than a year the top started to separate. An employee started the warranty process in November of 2017 and I was told in January that they were just waiting for my replacement to arrive. It’s now August and I haven’t gotten my replacement, no call or updates. Just terrible service.Kenneth was the employee who took AND submitted the pictures. When I asked him for an update he told me to speak to the manger. I called in January and I believe the manager was the one to tell me that the warranty company discontinued my mattress and by end of January my replacement should arrive.

Couldnt be more disappointed with this place!!! I purchased a kitchen table in August which shipped to us in very poor condition. I brought this up to the managers of the store located on Devon Ave (Mark & Ron) in Chicago. Neither have been very helpful in getting our damaged item returned and exchanged for one in decent shape. Its now going on four months and still no replacement?? Do yourself a favor, spend the extra money and buy your furniture from Ashley.

When I came into some outside difficulties with a furniture order, Ron went out of his way to help resolve the issue with me and made a promise to lend me a hand when its time to buy again. Thats the kind of action that gets return business. I appreciate the help.

I should have listened to other reviews. Absolutely horrible and rude customer service! They will speak nice as long as you agree to their prices. The minute you start to negotiate - they will show their true colors. I was yelled and cursed at by the owner of this place. They will use pressure tactics on you. I mean, if you cant come down - just say no - you dont have to be nasty about it.Most of the same furniture is available on amazon at same price. They say delivery is free within certain miles but dont mention that it is roadside delivery only. Plus they will charge taxes (which you wont pay on amazon) and set up fees.Do note that there are no refunds and no cancellations. I received a defective item - i was initially told that it is now yours. When their own person who delivered the item said that it was a faulty item then they took it back. And, I had to madatorily buy other items worth the same price. And, again same unacceptably rude customer service I ever experienced to the point I plan to sue them.

Prices seemed great when we went into the store. After assembly and delivery costs, prices were in line with what we seen in other places. Our items were supposed to be delivered in 7-10 days.After 11 days I had to call back to be informed they didnt have the chairs we purchased, but finally was able to schedule delivery of the other items. Quality was below what we expected (chipped corners!) and delivery service was very poor (they even had to borrow my screwdrivers).So far its been over 20 days and no idea when the chairs are coming...

My initial experience with them when we went into the store to purchase a sofa beds for my son was very good they brought the sofa bed to my sons apartment and forgot the legs it took a week before they brought the legs and the person that I spoke to on the phone was very rude would never ever purchase anything else from this company

Ron was very friendly and helpful when I placed my order, so I chose to go with Marjen over another store. I was told about 2 weeks for delivery, then at 2 weeks Id called and couldnt get information. After 2 more back-and-forth calls, I was told another 2 weeks. This happened once more.To be honest, I flipped out, especially after going back and reading such poor reviews. I emailed them to say I had ordered the couch for a specific event, and if it couldnt be there before then I would like a refund. After that, Ron was completely on top of things and worked hard to get the couch delivered to me ASAP. Id say that they could really work on having better communication when there are orders placed to the manufacturer that get postponed. They are all nice guys, and the prices are good, delivery and setup was super quick and efficient, just be prepared to keep checking up on things yourself if youve placed an order.

The price was great, love the furniture I got, and the delivery/customer service was awesome. Purchasing this furniture could not have gone smoother, I went into the store in the morning and had my couch and loveseat in my living room fully assembled by 5pm.

I purchased bed room furniture complete, its falling apart not happy about that, the leather sofa that I purchased from the company is peeling not happy about that. Just recently I purchased a new bed frame including headboard/footboard parts missing hard to replace, extremely not happy about that, I will not go back. I learned a good lesson the hard way.

Ive purchased from them a few times since 2006. They were never the greatest place and the furniture quality is mediocre but the price is always right. This time around I got a dose of the extremely low grade customer service I hear theyre infamous for. My TV stand was missing pins to assemble shelves. I bought from the Devon store but moved South. Because Im on the Southside and they only deliver here once a week, Ive been lied to, dismissed, scapegoated and treated poorly overall. I still dont have the pins after a month of bs. Im going to make a special trip up there and get them and then I will NEVER purchase from them again. Im just glad they did this before I bought the bedroom set I was looking at. Ill give that money to a store that has some respect and appreciation for their customers even after theyve gotten their money.Fyi: As soon as you purchase there is no returns or refunds...this is before delivery.

After a week, i was told, the furniture i chose and PAID For was not available from the Mfg so, i had to choose another set (no choice) and this people are definitely rude once they have your money. When requested to change the delivery timing, i was told that i am not the only customer he has got. No respect for customers!! It is now less than three months and what is believed to be cheap is quite aninferior quality furniture as the main supporting beam is splitted in the middle and the bed is no good to use. No help to fix from nice guy Ron.S. S.

Just bought a futon with a 10 support-o-pedic futon mattress. Never have seen one so thick and comfortable. Have checked ALL over for a decent futon, Took a few days to get this big boy broke in, so it would stay down easily, but once past that it is fantastic. Considering the quality, I probably saved a lot more than what I have been comparing to. They beat all the prices, but the quality is far better. Look at some others before shopping at Marjen, Looking at some of the negative reviews, I think they have had the same problem all furniture and mattress stores have with commission sales people. When I walk into a Best Buy store, I am swamped with eager beavers, but when it is a small item (cable cord), no body wants to help me. I bought my futon from Howard, the owners brother, so I cant relate to one of the regular sales persons.

Marjen Furniture would have DEFRAUDED me if I did not point to a mistake, probably deliberate, made by them on my bill. I purchased a sofa there last fall and did not realized it would be sent to me as a whole piece (Nobody in the store reminded me of the big chance it would not fit into the door of an apartment). As a result, the delivery team could not move it into my apartment (Actually they could barely carry it up through the staircase), and I was told that I had two choices left: either to return it or to exchange it for another one and pay the difference. I chose the latter lest I pay the high amount of returning fee, so I returned to the store, picked another sofa, and saw my bill: Not only do I have to pay the delivery (which was not completed) fee and exchange fee in full amount, I WAS STILL CHARGED THE TAX OF MY ORIGINAL PURCHASE! Instead of refunding me the after-tax amount I paid for the first sofa, they refunded the before-tax amount and kept the tax associated with my first purchase on my bill (wishing I would faint at the bill and turn my head away immediately?) Unfortunately, I pointed out the ridiculous mistake to them, and they looked like nothing had happened! My dear friend, if you really have to go there, beware of attempt of fraud.

I recently purchased a sofa, love seat, coffee table, side table, and queen mattress set. While waiting for the delivery, I saw these reviews for the first time and started having arrhythmia. Im writing a review, which I never do, because for anyone else on the verge of panic, they actually did deliver what I ordered in perfect condition. The delivery guys were on time and courteous. The stuff is inexpensive. Less than Ikea with slightly better quality. I think we saved about $400 on comparables. But, when they give you the final receipt it states NO EXCHANGES NO RETURNS. Keep that in mind.The store itself is pure misery. The sales team was eating a carry out meal out of styrofoam containers. I thought the lead sales guy was a homeless person taking a brief reprieve from the winter elements, grabbing a meal in a comfy lounge chair... Until he started stalking me throughout the cramped store. The other reviews go in depth on the store and sales experience.Overall, is it worth the risk for a few hundred savings? For us it was this time but not sure I would do it again, given the risks.

I recently moved to Chicago, with no furniture. After doing some research I decided to give Marjen a chance(some of the reviews arent that great) and could not have had a better experience. I was helped by a young gentleman named Grant. He asked me what I needed and after I said just about everything he showed me all over the store so I could see what I wanted. While the store is not Pier One, the pricest cant be beat. After I chose everything Grant helped me design my living area, this, I think is going beyong customer service. He should work at a high end store. I scheduled my delivery and set up and am happily sitting in my new couch writing this! It may not be the prettiest but Grants service made up for it. I will defenetly be back.

I walked into this store the other day, i will say prices are cheap! You can else where. Website says free delivery, dude stated 45. After a little talking owner said he would throw in delivery. Just seem sketchy. The dude helping me was pressuring me into the deal. He wouldt come down on once couch but would another. They basically were the same, stitching little different. Not sure Ill be back. My experience was little iffy, also heard one of the dudes tell the other customer put down $20, why? what am i going to do with that? wipe my ass? go to McDonalds? After reading these reviews, Im scared to go back. I like that couch though, out of my budget Ill look and see. 2.9 rating on here, guys I hope you head this and change your business ways. Dont call out a customer in one review about negotiating retail target if you get a hold of the GM Target will come down on prices and will negotiate, a lot of times on items going out, or on sale. Watch your replys on here. Small community word does travel!
