I ordered the hand painted macarons as a gift for mothers day and the expectations vs. reality were a little different to say the least. I included 2 images of the order I received and a screenshot of the advertised macarons that were on their website.They need to update their website to accurately reflect what their products really look like. I didnt want to knock off too many stars because I could tell the team had been working really hard and were swamped with orders, but it is worth noting that the macarons with the paintings on them were also considerably harder than the other macarons as well.

Best bakery EVER. Ive ordered dozens of cakes, custom cookies, cupcakes. They do such an awesome job. Beautiful design with great flavor. The chocolate chips in the chocolate cake batter is the BEST!Thanks for everything!

My commute to this bakery is almost an hour but its well worth it. My reception was cancelled due to COVID. In error, we received two large refunds. We returned the second. We decided, 16 months later to host a small reception at our house. The bakery wanted to pay for our cake to show their gratitude. I said absolutely not. They ended up giving us over half off as a good will gesture. Brook was an absolute doll to do business with and as recall so are all of the other ladies. Oh and did I mention they accommodated me on short notice and short staff. And the cake, to dye for, just saying. We went with an almond flavored cake with pistachio butter cream by the way. These are the best cupcakes and should get five stars. however their packaging is terrible. plastic plastic and plastic. for the price they charge that should be prettier presentation.

I am a first-time, and walk-in customer. I ordered a small variety of items (cupcake, cookie, buckeye, cake, etc.) and some coffee. It was all amazing! The buttercream was delicious. The atmosphere was bright and inviting. The parking was convenient. I will return.

They outdid themselves!! I ordered a cake from afar for my sister and her husband for a gender reveal. They were very easy to work with and responsive. The cake came out perfectly and I was told it tasted delicious!!! I would highly recommend.

The cake itself was amazing but getting in touch with someone at Love & Buttercream was near impossible. No confirmation of receipt via email & very poor communication in terms of responsiveness.

We had our wedding cake done by this company and let me just say everyone loved it. We had people coming up to us asking where we had the cake done so they can go get more after the wedding. Lets just say, it was beyond delicious!

My husband and I love L&B and stop there every time were in the area for various snacks. I especially love their macaroons! They recently made the cupcakes for our wedding and they were AMAZING-I got so many complements on them and so many questions as to where we got them :)

Difficult to work with and then received a cake with missing decorations/accents. I sent an email request in a month in advance, as they prefer. More than a week later no one had followed up. I call and they need to check. No call back. I call again. I ask if they can take payment to ensure it will be made. Not yet but she’ll call back. Then finally I was able to pay a week out. I double confirmed by phone that everything I had provided in writing and in the picture given was possible to create. Talked to Kendall and Kylie. This is missing the accents on top and bottom. I’ve tried reaching out by phone and social media and customer service is non existent. I’ve shared this experience with my friends and we won’t be back.

We did a bride and groom cake for our wedding. The flavor selection was great and we really enjoyed our wedding cake. The prices were a bit high but it was not terrible for us since we got a very small cake.

A friend got me a cake from here once and I was so excited to try it the cookies. I’ve never been in so as a new customer called to check availability of cookies they mention on the website. 1 hr after opening they were out and I couldn’t order them in time for the party in 3 days. Customer service was horrible though so I decided to pick up cookies elsewhere.

Amazing cinnamon rolls! Would go back every Saturday just for the cinnamon rolls. Cupcakes just ok.

We picked up a curbside decorated, white cake recently to support. It looked plain, tasted dry, had a generous amount of buttercream between the layers but not much cake. Instructor was very patient, informative and interested in what we were doing every step of the way. I picked up some new baking skills. For the price of the class we took home a lot of goodies. I received several raves on the berry/basil pies. Out of this world. Thanks again for the good time.

Fantastic, friendly service. I sent a photo of a Monster’s Inc cake and they duplicated it perfectly! Everyone at my granddaughters first birthday party loved it. Not only was it decorated to perfection, it tasted out of this world delicious! I will absolutely be back for my next occasion. This is the 3rd or 4th time weve went with Love & Buttercream for a cake, and they always do a fantastic job! The cakes taste great and look amazing!

I wanted to have a special cake made for my sons 16th birthday. After viewing the site of Love & Buttercream and seeing all the beautiful cakes on the site, I decided to contact them. Wonderful staff to speak to and sounded very accommodating for what I was looking for, UNTIL I picked up the cake.I asked for something cool and for a 16 year old and added additional funds for additional Decor for the cake that would total $70 dollars. The cake was supposed to feed at least 30 people as well.All I can say is as much as I expressed I wanted this to be a cool cake for a 16 year old, it looked like something for a 2-10 year old. I even added additional funds for ADDITIONAL Decorations, not sure what their ADDITIONAL DECORATIONS really means, plusthe fact that their cakes on the site were so cool and beautiful. I expected much more. After receiving the cake and calling to express my disappointment they were very kind on the phone and offered to refund the additional funds for decorations. I feel the need to express my disappointment.This cake was more for a younger aged child, not at all what I requested.The cake looked very small for 30 people, and I was told by Love & Buttercream that there is a way to cut it so that I do get at least 30 pieces. HMMM.. ok. No one liked the taste of the cake... and typically I love to have some left overs for the next day.. it was even worse the next day! Sorry LOVE & BUTTERCREAM but had to give a very poor review!

We wanted to have a variety of desserts for our guests to choose from, rather than a traditional wedding cake. And our guests absolutely loved our dessert table! Everyone was able to try each type of dessert we offered, and everything wad delicious! The desserts were affordable, and we stayed within our budget, even with delivery to our reception venue. Victoria was the one who assisted us, and she was quick with correspondence, and was insightful we when we were deciding on flavors and quantities. Thank you!

One of the best cakes Ive tasted. We got the walk in/pick up chocolate cake. If you dont order ahead you have to get there right during opening to make sure youre able to scoop one.

Gotta try the peanut butter cookies. We had cupcakes from her for our daughters birthday and they came out great, a big hit. The frostings are a little sweet so if you have sweet tooth youll enjoy their deserts. If you dont like things on the sweet side, be careful getting deserts with too much frosting, including the cinnamon roles which they bake fresh on saturdays. I also enjoy their muffins, the lemon blueberry is very good. Also they serve Great Lakes Coffee.

We ordered a Peppa Pig birthday cake from Love and Buttercream. It looked beautiful in the store. They boxed and wrapped it carefully and placed in my car. When I unwrapped the cake it was split from the top layer. I was horrified and called the bakery the next day. I was told to email my complaint. I did with pictures of the cake. I got no response. The flavor of the icing was bitter and very hard. The cake was not eatable the next day due to the hard texture.

We had a delicious and beautiful 60th anniversary cake created by this bakery. They would have rated 5 stars,except for the fact that it was supposed to have 2 different flavors. While it was perfect in every other way, we were disappointed not to be able to try the second flavor. Maybe they wanted a personal visit from us. They will get one and future orders.

What a marvelous bakery! Their offerings are as sinfully good as they are pretty. And, theyll do just about anything you can imagine with cakes or cookies. Staff is courteous and helpful... Five stars!

If you like DRY cakes this is the place for you! First experience was at a wedding. Cake looked stunning but tasted like it was a week old. Gave it another try with an 8” birthday cake. Upon pickup they could not find it - it was ordered a week in advance. Waited 20 minutes to find it. I think they had premise cakes in back. Decorating was disappointing and cake was DRY!!

I stopped by with my wife at 6:30 pm on Friday night at the suggestion of Google who showed them as being open until 7:00 pm. Upon arrival we found the door locked and the employee inside motioned us to go away as if she didnt care if she gets our business. If I recall, the front door also stated that they were open until 7:00 pm as well. I checked their website today and it does say that they are closed at 6:00 pm, so maybe it was my fault for believing Google (snapshot posted for reference). I had higher hopes that the employees at a smaller shop would be a little more friendly, but I guess they are doing well enough that they dont need to emphasize good service.Please fix your Google listing to minimize the number of disappointed potential customers.

I cant believe this bakery has 3.9 stars overall. I think theyre phenomenal. Best cake Ive ever had in my life! They replicated my in-laws wedding cake for their 35th wedding anniversary and it was magical. My mother-in-law cried when she saw it.

Purchased a smash cake for my daughter and was not told about the fact the cake needed to be thawed. I told them I was picking the cake up and going straight to photo shoot in Royal Oak. We did smash cake last and was so frozen baby could not smash it at all. Otherwise appearance was beautiful.

My favorite bakery, very friendly, accommodating and they make absolutely beautiful and delicious cakes. I found myself in a jam for my daughters 16th birthday and needing a cake close to the holiday, I was turned down by five bakeries including the bakery who told me they would do her cake despite the holiday rush. I was extremely pleased with their service and professionalism. My experience with this bakery was top-notch. The cake was turned out beautifully. Thank you guys sooo much!!!

I used this place ALL THE TIME - UNTIL....... We tried to place an order for just 24 cookies - 2 weeks later - still no confirmation - The only reason I had any response at all is because I called to check on my email not once but twice. Really - you guys have to do better at customer service! Long story short I did not place an order for my sons 5th birthday and I will not be going back. If I could give less than 1 star I would 🚫

Truffles were good, but they did initially have that fridge taste, but it went away. The scones and croissants were REALLY good. I recommend those. However we also ordered a cake. Threw it out. The cake was extremely dry, probably because it was more than a few days old, judging by the refrigerated taste in the frosting. The cake was BEAUTIFUL, its a shame the taste couldnt measure up.

The service was great and the women in the store were very helpful but I found their buttercream frosting to be a bit on the salty side. I tried the vanilla cupcake with chocolate frosting and apple cupcake with cream cheese frosting. It is possible I may give them another try but my first impression of this place taste wise was not good. I really wanted to like them! :(

The first time I went here I bought some macarons I wasn’t crazy about. This time I decided to buy a couple more things; cupcakes, a cookie, cake pops and more. Everything tasted great! I even decided to give the macarons another shot and they were a lot better than the ones I had originally tried. This may be my new favorite bakery in the area. I can’t wait to see what I find here next!

Worked with Love and Buttercream through Waterview Loft wedding venue. We picked a half chocolate cake with almond icing and half almond cake with almond icing. Guests commented on the double almond really surprising them and being more delicious. Design turned out better than I expected. Places to improve: Emails I sent had a slow response. Cake tasting was about what I thought it would be in terms of amount- though the bakery is tiny and leaves little room for the table squeezed in the corner right by the door. Made me wonder if there was any place in the back to have it instead? Felt like I was really pushing it asking to use their restroom.

People with allergies beware. Please be careful with this bakery. Their vegan products are NOT vegan. We buy vegan because my daughter is allergic to dairy. Their vegan red velvet contains Casein and their granola bars contain honey which in and by itself disqualifies them from being vegan. How can a bakery just slap a vegan label on any old product if it truly is not? Have left a message for the owner and she never called me back. Terrible.

If I could rate them 0 I would. Went in knowing I would pay 2.50 for a cupcake but then had to pay 2.75 for the chocolate upcharge... Paid that happily but they were out of vanilla on vanilla unless you went to the special “decorated” one... for another $0.75 each. So, that’s a great business model and drives an amazing customer experience. I tried to offer some friendly advice which was met with rudeness. Hope the $1.50 overcharge on a simple product you should have available was worth at least one lost customer. Good luck!

Celebrated a birthday with a bday cake from Love & Buttercream - cake was delicious and so pretty - but oh my gosh delicious! Also, the staff were professional, warm, friendly & helpful. . . and did I mention the cake was divine - thats a unanimous review from all the dinner guests who have high standards for dessert & where theyll spend their calories - totally worth it, yummmmmm!

Got to try some end of the day cupcakes and other cake like treats at the liquor store next door for free! Apparently they give them the leftovers at the end of the day and the store gives them out for free as a form of advertising! I have to say, one of the best lemon poppy seed muffins Ive ever had.

They did not deliver a wedding cake that was paid in full for and would not return any phone calls the day of the wedding. Would not recommend and will never go back.

Love & Buttercream did a wonderful job on our wedding cake! They have so many unique options (basil, champagne and lavender buttercream!) and everything they offer is delicious! I previously purchased other desserts and birthday cakes from them and was always so impressed so when we got engaged I knew I wanted to use them for the wedding cake.We ended up ordering chocolate cake with raspberry filling and almond buttercream. It was absolutely delicious! The almond buttercream was slightly savory so helped balance the sweetness of the rest of the cake. (My husband and I took the rest of the cake home and we ate it all week after the wedding - we didnt want to share!)Not only do they create wonderful desserts but they are also very committed to great customer service. They are very responsive and so friendly! Also, my husband and I were trying to keep costs down in certain areas of the wedding and they were very accommodating in helping us figure out a way to have them as our cake vendor but keep the cake within our budget.We will definitely be using them for future events, desserts and I cant wait to order our anniversary cake from them!

Outstanding cupcakes! They kindly created a custom set of Pac Man cupcakes for my sons 7th birthday and they were a bit. Our family loved them. Super friendly staff as well (Birmingham location).

Wedding cake was DRY!!!!! We chose a 4 tiered cake for our day, and it was so hard to keep a smiling face for the photographer when we fed each other a piece. We also ordered a gold pedestal, something that was discussed in our cake tasting and upon time of order, but to our displeasing surprise, our cake was delivered sitting on top of a piece of gold CARDBOARD. No one reached out prior to notify us of this change (if they had, we still would have been disappointed, yes, but at least would have had time to purchase our own pedestal), and no one reached out to us after the wedding to apologize. I had to be the one to reach out to inquire about what happened. Giving 1 star because they made the cake at least look like the picture I provided, which all in all wasn’t very hard, it was just painted streaks of buttercream. Overall, very disappointed.

DO NOT GO DEPEND ON THEM FOR IMPORTANT EVENTS. I went in two weeks before my husbands birthday to order a birthday cake. During my consultation the lady kept texting someone with my questions since she didnt know the answers to my questions - to include a quote for the cake, she never made a call and the person she was texting never responded. She told me she would call me later that day to tell me the price, never once did she say anything about a deposit or that my order wasnt final. The week before the party I still had never heard from them. I called them Tuesday morning, left a message, never heard back. The next day I called and finally got someone. They told me they could not do my cake and because I never made an order. They insist that they did call me, after going through my call log they did call, however they never left a voicemail. I find it incredibly unprofessional to not even leave me a voicemail or email me the info. Its unprofessional to text someone and let the customer leave without paying a deposit or having their order final. Its also unprofessional and rude to never take any responsibility for their poor service. As a small business I would think they would want to treat their customers better. Its a shame Ill never go back. I live down the street and my family was frequent business.

Their “lattes” taste like straight up lukewarm milk. When I called and informed them of this, the girl acted like it was a huge ordeal and she had to speak to management to get the issue resolved. Uhhh... usually you just have the person come in and have it remade so it tastes right and don’t charge for it. So anyways, agreed to have someone call me because over $5 for a “speciality” coffee isn’t cheap. That was days ago. Still haven’t heard back. Not planning on going back. This has happened on more than one occasion. Also, their cakes/cupcakes are too dry and their buttercream is super gritty and too sweet. Way better options for coffee and sweets elsewhere in metro Detroit. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I use L&B for business treats. I give treats to each of my clients. I drive around all day, and the temptation to eat them is strong, but I resist. They are sooo good. From macaroons to cookies and everything in between- these pastry chefs nail it. My wife is hard to please- and this is her favorite bakery too. From a business to business perspective, they are also a pleasure to deal with. Cant say enough good about the team at Love and Buttercream.

Love & Buttercream is a wonderful local bakery that can fill all your needs, whether its to satisfy a little sweet tooth, or its an elaborate special order. (See the picture of the Dr. Who cake I ordered for my employee when she went away to college.) Everything they make is phenomenal, from their red velvet whoopie pies, to their chocolate on chocolate cake pops, to their delicious vanilla cupcakes (not your average, boring vanilla cupcake!) to their expresso drinks. If youre not local, its totally worth the trip; if you are local and havent visited, do not pass go, do not collect two hundred dollars, go directly to Love & Buttercream!

HORRIBLE! they tell you to email them so they can see howd you like your cake, then wont reply! i had to call everyday to even get that 1 reply and after that i heard nothing back! when i did call, theyll say the lady that checks email is not in or shes leaving and will email back tomorrow LIES! just find elsewhere to invest your time in for your cake or treats !

Don’t waste your $$ at the Birmingham store. They got the cake frosting color wrong and it was so dry, we through it out! It was for my mom’s 87th bday too..

I am so disappointed. I ordered and spent $117 on 3 dozen pink with gold brush macarons for an event. For that amount of money, the macarons should taste awesome. When I picked up my order, I tasted one as soon as I got home. From the first bite, it broke into crumbs and pieces got all over my floor. It did not taste fresh either. They must’ve not sampled their own product.Macarons are supposed to be somewhat chewy. I’ve ordered macarons for events many times. The original lady l ordered from moved to San Francisco this summer and my back up bakery, Le Detroit Macaron was closed the weekend of my event. She was on vacation.I had about 30-34 people at my event and ended up throwing away about a dozen. What an unfortunate waste. I do not recommend Love and Buttercream.

Worse cake Ive ever ordered! I decided to support a local and family-owned business, saw the sign in their window and thought Id give them a try. I ordered a cake for my daughters baby shower in February. If you like cake as dense and heavy as a bag of sand and frosting thats literally like eating a stick of butter then youll love their cakes! I ordered an extra large cake so guests could take a slice home (thinking it would be incredible) - you can usually gauge the quality and tastiness of catered food at a function by your guests response. I saw lots of half-eaten slices of cake left on the guests plates and NO ONE wanted to take a slice home with them! Honestly, Ive made homemade cake and cupcakes myself from 100% organic whole food ingredients and theyve come out tasting 10X better than what I spent $80+ for from L & B! Real buttercream frosting made with quality butter, whipping cream, high quality sugar and vanilla (like Mascobado Cane Sugar and Madagascar Vanilla ) will have guests tripping over themselves for more - not the case with L & B frosting!

I guess I dont get all the hype. I got 2 vanilla cupcakes (one with vanilla and one with chocolate buttercream) and a vanilla on vanilla Whoopi pie.The vanilla cake was dense and dry. Really really not good at all. Both of the buttercreams were over salted- and dont get me wrong...I always make buttercream with salted butter. But this was way WAY too much salt. The Whoopi pie was the same over salted buttercream in a standard Whoopi pie cake.The decorated cakes in the window were beautiful though.I wont be returning
