Super chill spot to grab a coffee or some snacks. There are plenty of seats and spaces outside and everyone seems to be enjoying a good, quiet time here, reading, chatting, working. Also kudos for their long opening hours everyday.I had a cappuccino and a brownie before going up the hills, the prices are fair and service was fast and friendly.
Fantastic cafe! Happy to see it full of people again. Espresso all day and foods- muffins, pastry, parfait, fresh fruit, and more. Always a space to sit down either to work or have a conversation or play chess or read a book.
Chill study spot to enjoy some coffee or tea while working away on a paper. May be tough to get a seat but still a great place the enjoy working outside of the dorms.
Lovely terrace and conveniently located next to Berkeley university. But the service, coffee, and facilities were disappointing on my visit. Worth knowing they charge for tap water and for glasses if you dont want to drink straight out of a can/bottle. The restroom is not cleaned/mantained.
Terrace is beautiful and chill. Favorite place to read and hang out.Coffee and food are reasonably priced and solid. Not great but still good.
Their espresso was pretty strong, and I loved it. Maybe it is too strong for most. Also their Banana Pecan Muffin was awesome. Good place for outdoor dining and pretty good compare to most.
Its nice outside, but no back support to actually do any work. Inside is closed off to public. Paninis were okay, pretty pricey for the quality. The coffee drinks were great though. Good lattes. The staff was pretty meh though. Kind of difficult people.
My favorite place to grab a coffee on my way to morning classes. Their white mochas are particularly superb
Caffè Strada is a Berkeley landmark. Good selection of teas and coffees (hot or cold) as well as cakes and pastries. Popular among students and staff. It is rumored that many brilliant thoughts have been had at Caffè Strada. Indoor and outdoor seating. Good place for peaple watching, chatting, and working on your next great paper. Very fast service.
This is THE place to hang out and people watch around campus. Good coffees and other drinks. All kinds of great snacks. Great service. OK bathroom. Has motorcycle parking in front. Also a good plan e to read or work on your laptop.
Seems like lots of people come here to work/study and is very popular among students! I got a blueberry muffin here and it was delicious. The blueberries were so big and juicy! Nice staff too.
Terrible service. guy at the pick-up desk seems to think he can talk to customers in any way he wants. and the coffee is okay at best - definitely worse than peets. will not be returning
Ordered an iced vanilla latte, got an iced black coffee with no milk/cream or sweetener.
Great place to drink your coffee and check in on the news your laptop your smartphone and anything else on your way into campus
Great place to sit and work but the variety of food served is limited.
Their new credit card paying machines force you to pay tips to complete the transaction. Their stuff are already expensive, price increase all the time, now this mandatory tips...
Delicious breakfast food, speedy service. The folks working helped me put all of my items in a tray so I could take everything in one hand because I was walking my dog. I appreciated that!
Great place for studying with ample outdoor seating
The dirty chai had a nice kick to it. Cute cafe!
One of the oldest espresso joints in Berkeley for students rushing to campus. They still make great caps.
Great place to work, has wifi and outlets. coffee is decent, pastries are ok
The iced tea here is VERY weak. The location is nice, though.
Birthplace of String Theory, Ive heard tell. Come for the clientele and the unpretentious coffee. Plus a decent selection of baked temptations.
Great place for some lattes! They claim to be the pioneers of hot white chocolate... Dont know if i trust that, but it tastes pretty good! Also, plenty of room to sit and work. Usually over-run by undergrads though...
Good coffee and free wifi. Lifesaver place.
Ive been here for years since my days as an undergraduate. I love working here because of the lovely outdoor atmosphere. Before COVID they had musicians play for a few hours every other Sunday. But thats about it, the drinks are less than mediocre.Come here for the atmosphere, not the drinks.
I liked the americano coffee. Nice rich flavors
We clearly asked for a decaf. What we got was not a decaf...
Loved it. Great ambience
Iced tea was great, the latte was a little burnt, but thats the style they serve it.
Always a pleasure to hit up this spot after a concert lets out at the Greek. One of the few places open late late in the neighborhood. Very affordable prices; hot drinks served in tall tumbler glasses. Heaters on the patio. Great place to work or study, and the people who work behind the counter are all super friendly. Strada is an icon in Berkeley :)
My favorite chocolate cake isint being served any more. Please please please get it back 😊
Patio is very nice and generous with lots of room and good coffee
Awesome place. The coffee is good, but Im not a connoisseur. It opens late with lots of seating and lovely patio and friendly staff. The best part is they try to be environmentally green. The second best part is that its near Top Dog and other quick simply no frills eateries. This is my go to coffee shop near campus!
Be careful, everyone whos anyone shows up here
Idek what they serve here other than diet coke. every day I come here and I get a diet coke. I dont think they serve anything else. $2 for a can kinda bunk but it comes with a side of business student so I can eat the rich on the go
Always quick, great coffee and great place to study.
This place is great! The food and drink is fantastic, and for Berkeley is reasonably priced. It also has a great location right across from the Law School and Main Campus. The only really negative for Strada is that at night it is not very safe, and there have been multiple robberies of their patrons.
A great option if you need a place to work. Theyre open late and have plenty of seating outside and outdoor outlets. Great location if youre on campus or if youre around the Berkeley area in general and need a place to sit. Plenty of metered street parking around.Coffee & food are nothing special but will hit the spot. Service is standard, order, grab and go, no frills.
Best service!
Great spot to work or have a coffee. The tables are nice and spread out for COVID concerns and they have enough space so its not too challenging to find a table
One of my favorite spot for a cup of latte in the afternoon
Great atmosphere and good prices.
Lots of shady and sunny outdoor seating
Nice relaxed student environment
Haas School of Business
They have the greatest espresso and nice pastries. Good location and their staffs were friendly. Love it here.
Fine skinny latte, thats all I had. My wife also enjoyed her blueberry Danish, but found her espresso too American (rather than Italian)
Great place, open late, very fast service, reliable and convenient. The only negatives are no fresh brewed coffee (just Americanos), and no real food other than pastries basically. Its also often very crowded but thats okay, it is popular for a reason!
Strada is definitely the classic Berkeley cafe, and it has a unique kind of energy to it. The outdoor seating is comfortable even when its cold (lots of heaters), and there are a good amount of outlets outside. Theres kind of limited seating inside, but its not too much of an issue. A lot of people come here to get work done, but its also a great place to chat and/or people watch, as its right next to campus. It can get a bit busy, but its also open late which is a huge plus.
I understand it’s a popular spot and I’ve often found myself going their to meet GSIs and other students but to be honest there’s nothing on the menus that interests me. Sorry. All three stars are for location location location.... and atmosphere, which is chill.
Ive been going there for decades. The ambiance and quality drinks take me back to my University days. Well worth a visit!
The real deal for real coffee. Not overly sweet like Starbucks. They have a nice setup, with indoor and outdoor options, including heaters and a homey-feel. Top quality coffees and more! (Better than Starbucks)
Nice place God coffe.
Fast service. Good coffee
It was my first experience and I love how clean everything was. I only tried the Ginger Peach Black Tea. Unique for a NC since theres no sugar. Loved it.
The real deal for real coffee. It was really good and worth it. Great service and clean place.
I would never define cafe strada in one particular way. The diversity you can find on a day to day visit is overwhelming with many things in its great large patio setting, that has a kick-ass fireplace on the coldest days. Great coffee, snacks, and of course the diversity of Berkeley’s student body. A great place to get work done late late and early early mornings. The staff is always attentive and aware of what’s going. I mean you shouldn’t leave your laptop laying around anywhere outside, unattended. Getting back to the atmosphere, it’s welcoming and a great place to get work done for: school, novel writing, anything you can legally imagine. They should even have their own Cafe Strada, mascot. After reading Susan’s review, I think she went to the wrong cafe, maybe even the wrong city. Susan, you were in Berkeley, correct?
Reasonable prices for good coffee and a lot of indoor and outdoor seating options! Staff is impressively efficient and friendly, too.
The staff is cool and good place to study when it is not too busy. Great during summer.
The coffee is decent at best. Outdoor seating is nice. Really, the only reason that I would go here is because of its proximity to campus.
I had an espresso, which was fine. Its a good place to sit and talk, or read. The cafe is located at Bancroft and College, right across the street from one of the entrances to the UC Berkeley campus. So its usually pretty crowded during the school year. Even today (July 3rd) most of, the outdoor tables were all occupied. So we took an indoor table.
Such a cool place. Basically located in the heart of campus. This corner coffee shop is a great place it sit outside and get stuff done, meet a friend, or people watch. Its always busy, but rarely is there at least a seat for one. They only serve espresso based beverages, tea, cookies, and pastries. Parking can be hard. Parking is available on the street, or in a nearby parking lot.Bathrooms open to the public around back.
The outdoor seating is nice, but coffee is overpriced and not great.
Americano coffee is very robust. The type of bean used tonight had no acidity type of after taste. Possibly imported?Love the ambience. Very roomy and decor is tasteful ✔💯💯
The best coffee shop in Berkeley. it has a wonderful Outdoor Cafe, with electrical outlets all on the outside, below the benches. Ive been coming here for over 20 years and it still hasnt lost it luster. Two thumbs up and a bag of chips!!!😃
Good coffee. Similar to Starbucks, doesnt appear to be traditional coffee; it was made too quickly and served in a disposable cup. They dont have a microwave so their pastries arent warm.
The patio is excellent, with trees, a good atmosphere and space heaters when it gets into the evening hours. It is good for socializing, studying or just a place to relax after a rough and hectic day. I highly recommend the coffee and other drinks, and of course they have a few snacks.
Its outdoor area gives them plenty of business and room for us, gone are the droves of zombiish students walking to classes with cell phone in front of them...
Lovely patio. Good coffee. Friendly service.
Nice place to relax just to study and get the feel of being Part of the Berkeley on telegraph experience
It might be some issues with the understanding to a cup of espresso or an Italian style coffee when you have had too many cups of Bay Area’s Third Wave speciality coffee. But let’s be frank, I don’t see why this coffee shop is so popular and opens for such a long time. Coffee are horribly bitter and smokey with some taste of coal. The milk foam is poorly prepared within 2 seconds. Besides keeping fast service, I don’t think it’s a good way to respect your coffee drink. Well on the other hand, it’s a nice place to study in a sunny day though.
Great little cafe that offers mostly coffee, with some small snacks. There is alot of seating and is a great place todo some homework. There arent that many plugs though so bring an extension cord to make life easier.
Great location and great coffee. They also have outdoor heated seating which is really nice for the mornings and evenings. Their seating is also really plentiful, and the service is pretty quick. Not much more to say here - if you want a quick place to stop by for your morning coffee I would definitely recommend coming here as its right off of campus.
Great place love this Cafe
Worst coffee ever!!!
Cafe is in a great location -- right in the middle of Berkeley campus life. Last weekend we sat and were able to watch a bike race circling around the block. The coffee and food is fine.
Great, hard working staff. Treat them to your non-English language. (Spanish always welcome.) Convenient hours, you can choose outdoor device charging or outdoor heating or sit inside. Loud but frequently enough space to study. Expect an earful of fraternity/sorority/business school chatter. Other than that you might well think you were in Berkeley. 😀
Best place on Berkeley to sit and people watch while drinking an excellent cappuccino
Love this place, especially on warm afternoons when it is lovely to sit on the patio sipping tea, people watching, and chatting.
This is a favorite student hang out and the only place open in Berkeley to have a great coffee and decent dessert past 9:00 pm (open until midnight). It has very fast internet (free) and plenty of public parking around (paid during day but free in the evening).
Coffee/espresso was good but breakfast sandwiches were subpar.
Great restaurant right on the border of university of California and the city of Berkeley. They offer a wide range of snacks and meals. They have seating outside and inside the café. Its pretty popular so it can get pretty full.
A very good coffee shop with outside seating right next to the university. Caffé Strada is a Berkeley institition.
Always bustling, a good place to grab coffee and a bagel on your way to campus. Mostly outdoor seating. Decent selection of no-hitter drinks. If theres no seating, head across the street and look for seating around the fountain.
One of the baristas treated me bad because their card reader was not reading my debit card, I asked him to introduce the numbers of my card manually, and he told me not to come back to the cafe. This was not the first time this barista has told me this. I am an usual customer to this cafe and none of the other baristas has ever had any problem with my card.
