Great coffee with many selections. Care taken when making drinks. The only issue currently is reduced hours. Waiting for regular hours to return so I can visit the location more!

I love Philz coffee I have been going since I was an undergraduate student. I went recently for a visit to the bay and it was still delicious. The iced mint mojito coffee is my favorite and my chocolate croissant was good as well!

Pastries look delish.The cinnamon rolls in particular look like something crafted by the bake gods.

Coffee tastes great but dont come to this location if youre in a hurry. I used the app to make a pick up order, came at the pickup time indicated when I stepped out, only to find that my order got pushed back 20 minutes upon arrival. I love the products here but Im upset that i had to spend my entire break in a busy coffee shop

Had to get some Philz coffee while I was in Berkeley. The baristas are helpful, friendly, and very knowledgeable. Had a great cup of coffee and a yummy cinnamon roll recommended by my barista. You wait a little for your coffee, but its worth it because they make each cup individually. Loved it and will definitely be back!

Coffee is nice and hot the way I like it if I take my cream and sugar on the side. Otherwise, they cant seem to get it hot enough for me when they add the cream and sugar. They used to have a microwave where they could make my coffee extra hot.

Good, but the medium roast was actually dark roast and bitter. Over roasted? Forget which one I got, started with girls name? Julia maybe, not sure, definitely supposed to be med roast. Had to put extra milk, but it was fresh.

We stopped at Philz Coffee during our stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Berkeley Marina, which was part of our Summer road trip from Tigard, OR through Northern California.It has great energy and the staff is incredible! They are so friendly and helpful. I had Jacobs Wonderbar and was really impressed that the flavor comes completely from the beans!My family each had different coffee drinks and they enjoyed them all. One of our kids had the quinoa wrap and said it was great.If you are in the area, then give them a try!

The service is CRAZY slow sometimes. Go in and order, don’t use the app. Also, the code isn’t that great unless you get it sweet and cream and i don’t like sugar in my coffee. It DOES have tons of caffeine though.

Philz is wonderful! I usually only really like espresso drinks but this is the place to go for fancy brewed coffee. The mint mojito is my favorite ✨

Ivan the Terrible (with the white hair) and three barristas with green hair who I call Davids Angls and the staff make for a great cup of coffee. Just like Phil did at the old Berkeley location when he offerred me life time Phils coffee for my dog Inna. The people who work, interesting blends, the other customers, and Phil (the name sake) make all the difference. And that is pretty much all I know.

Up until now I actually thought I wasn’t a coffee fan. I have been to Philz coffee twice now. The first time I went with my sister and we were both clueless as to what to order. But the guy behind the counter was super helpful and made a recommendation and it was great! I have now tried both the philtered soul and jacob’s wonderbar and liked them both. I also took two friends with me this last time, one of which is a big coffee drinker and they loved it! I am from the north bay, so not super close to any Philz locations. But I definitely try and keep my eye out now!

What you expect from a well functioning Philz location. Consistent tasting, made reasonably quick with friendly service. App order and pickup makes them an option during quarantine.

We get their rose coffee and mint mojito everytime. You cant get these anywhere else!

Once youve killed your taste buds at Starbucks, come to Philz to rejuvenate them again. The customized flavors flowing over your buds should allow you to taste again. Any cup you use is the holy grail. Just make sure its filled with Philz to make it work. Try one, try all of them. You cant go wrong.

I really like coffee and Philz never disappoints. They have such a unique way of making coffee, it just so good. I start by telling them what I enjoy and they match it with a blend. Good to the very last drop. Bring your own cup for a discount.

Love my local Philz. Friendly staff and the usual tasty coffee. I will say that when you order your drink sweet and creamy (as I often do), the taste depends on who makes the drink that day. Some days are better than others, but folks behind the counter are more than happy to add more cream and/or sugar if you need it. Parking can be tough depending on the time and day, but it doesnt stop me from picking this location over the others nearby.

Great pour over coffees, friendly staff. Typically crowded, people seem to camp out here for hours on end. I wish they offered steamed milk, as a few times I’ve asked for my drink creamy it’s come out lukewarm. Avocado toast is delicious, if not quite worth the high price. Lots of food options and their flavor of the month is a great deal for take home coffee.

This specific location of Philz is my favorite! I used to prefer the Oakland location but the Friendly staff at the Berkely Location won my heart over. This is a relaxed - less busy location that I like to sit at and catch up with my studies.

Philz is a good change of pace if you want to add a little spice to your morning cup. I dont like my coffee too complicated so when I come here I like to order their silken splendor, a coffee blend of dark chocolate, citrus and butterscotch. A good amount of flavor while still giving me a nice smooth coffee taste. If you you try silken splendor and want to taste more of the butterscotch I suggest to ask for extra.

If you have never experienced Philz coffee, you ought to. You know that acidic taste you are used to getting with your coffee, their unique way of making it takes that bite away. Every blend has hints of flavors ranging from chocolate to fruit and nuts and caramel, natural flavors of the beans not artificial additions. Its a coffee experience you wont want to miss especially if you really love coffee.

Staff was not particularly friendly. Outdoor seating looked inviting.Coffee looked good that others were drinking. Read about the monthly special on Ether blend coffee, so I walked into the Gilman location instead of heading across the street to Whole Foods for Allegro coffee. Ether coffee blend is Very flavorful!!! $14/pound was worth it. Will definitely purchase Philz whole coffee beans again👌.

The ratings has nothing to do with the coffee but rather the employees and the set up. This was my first visit to Philz and it was 7am on Saturday. Empty store. I walked up to counter as told I had to wait in line to order coffee; I looked around and it was just me. Staff was rude. I was asked at the register what size coffee did I have? Small, medium or large?! It was obvious what it was, my cup was there! This is the epitome of a trying to hard. A bunch of hipster with that attitude that something is owned to them.

Its always a treat to get a little sweet and creamy at Philz, any Philz, its always an awesome experience. Thank you to all the people at Philz!

Fantastic coffee and service, bagels and pastries, even oatmeal. Theyll make your drink to order and dress it to your taste.Coffee that tastes of what it is, its strong and will wake you up. No watery brown stuff here. Roasts are tasty and theres many of them. If youre not sure where to start, Tesora is a good point. Iced coffee is also strong and delicious. Phil himself is a good dude, and while Ive never seen him at this spot, he regularly hangs at the mission SF location and greets customers. His son even (used to?) work the coffee counters.The only drawback is that theres usually not many spots to sit and enjoy, since there are a lot of laptop campers most of the time. If its nice outside, theres usually outdoor seating available.The counter is quick, so even if theres a line you dont usually wait too long. Staff is always great.

I enjoy the process at Philz that sort of forces you to slow down and wait for your coffee. I wish I didn’t see so many people sitting at the cafe with to-go cups. I put the responsibility of this on the staff at Philz or possibly company policy or lack of. But I was not asked if I was staying or going and the barista automatically grabbed a to-go cup for my coffee, I had to intervene and ask for a for-here cup.Philz has an opportunity to decrease waste and decrease their impact on the environment by defaulting toward reusables and encouraging their customers to do the same.

I love this Philz coffee place! I go there very often, almost four or five times in one week! There style in which they run the cafe is a little diffrent from the others and the employees are super friendly! Its a great place to chill to and take sips of your coffee

Have been drinking decaf to help empathize with my pregnant wifes forced decaffeination. Philz offers many kinds of decaf (unique amongst all coffee places Ive been), and they are *all* amazing. They are so good I dont even miss normal coffee when Im drinking here. Philz is amazing. Philz has changed my life.

I stopped by for ”a cup of Joe” yesterday afternoon and let me tell you...The term should be rebranded to ”a Cup of Philz”. This was the best cup of coffee Ive ever had. Im not exaggerating, not even a little bit. I found myself singing the Tony Tone Toni song, ” It Feels Good”, replacing the words with, ” It Philz Good” 😂 seriously, thats how juiced I was by this incredible beverage. I had the Jacobs Wonderbar, I love a dark roast sweet and creamy. And the way I was doted on, by the staff I wont use the term customer service because I felt like I was the only person in the place I was treated so special from the barrista to the cashier. I was and still am a Starbucks girl only because there is one on every corner and I mean every corner....and I prefer them over Peets. But Philz has Starbucks Beat in every category overwhelming by at least 50 points. Please build more. I will definitely purchase some whole beans for my French press at the store the next time Im there or possibly online. Thanks Berkeley, Phliz, you sure made this Lady Philz Good❤️🥰

This is the first Philz I ever went to and it set the bar really high for me. Really great food and coffee, obviously, but also a ton of great outdoor seating. Not a ton of parking but there rarely is at Philz anyway. Great for students and families!

This Philz location offers the standard delicious Philz Coffee and seems to make it at a reasonable rate so it is not too long of a wait to get your coffee if theyre not swamped. The employees are very sweet and complimented my outfit. I recommend this location even though the parking is very limited.

Getting a cup of Joe never felt more like going to a 32 flavors ice cream parlor. An astounding selection of every taste profile, dark to light roast.Heavens nectar is contained within the walls of this cathedral of caffeine.

Lovely staff, interesting next-level coffee. And they hooked me up with a free cup of some coffee I had never tried before. The super cool staff also knows a lot about the coffees and will explain to you whatever you want to know about the wide assortment of drinks they offer.

This isnt a place for your typical latte drinker, although they werent too rude to me when I asked if they served lattes. Pour over coffee only! I got a medium roast Tesoro (caramel, nutty, toffee, apparently) and they added cream and made it frothy. It was really good!

Mint mojito is amazing. Got a decaf mint mojito with oat milk. This place is addictive. Nice atmosphere cafe as well.

Love Philz.. love that they encourage you to bring your own cups (they’ll only charge you for a small). My favorite drink is the mint mojoto - sweet and creamy. My only issue is, this location is always busy! It’s impossible to find parking or a table. Otherwise, I’d visit this location much more.

I dont know how they do it, but its the best coffee Ive ever had. I say that having experienced a full range of Portland, Seattle, and San Fransisco coffee shops. I usually get a blend of ambrosia and anesthesia, but everything is great.

Friendly barista made my day by making me a delicious cup of iced mint mojito! This is how a service business should be conducted. Compared to the horrible experience I had at Sightglass at the Ferry Building, this place is a godsend.

Usually Philz coffee is pretty good and has decent service but they have started to slack in service over the last couple months. This morning I went in and they had lost the coffee I ordered only 10 minutes prior and then served me the worst breakfast sandwich Ive had yet. They have stopped giving tapatio packets with their dry sandwiches as well, I think I might have to go back to Starbucks which is really sad to say because at least their food is appealing and ready when I come to pick it up rather than lost...

Super friendly environment with a lot of good pour-over options. I went with the Mint Mojoto iced coffee and the Avocado + Egg Toast which hit the spot.

Nice atmosphere inside, a smaller space but reasonably sized. Not much inside table seating for working, especially with computer. Parking lot usually full or close to it but there is bike parking and more spots on the street. Place is pretty hard to spot from on Gilman going west, youll have better luck any other direction through the intersection.

In a coffee drinkers paradise this is the best coffee around. Philtered soul is my favorite.Memories as well as milk sugar Etc to your taste, and they hand for every cup. They also have specialty pastries sandwiches available.

Philz is legendary coffee. Not kidding just come here and order a simple coffee and be blown away that you never tasted coffee that good before. It was really eye opening the first time I came here by accident. I didnt know I was drinking coffee wrong my whole life. I can never make it as good as they do for some reason. I come in here to get a hand pour every chance I can.
