Terrible experience all around and horrendous pricing. I needed to get my alternator belt replaced and was quoted ~$180 for parts & labor over the phone. I decided to move forward with it and dropped off my car the following day. A few hours after dropping it off I received a call from Newberry letting me know that all three belts needed to be replaced, which was fine. However, I was also told that the cost wasnt $180 anymore but it would now cost $540 (each belt costs between $20-$25 in parts meaning they planned on charging $470 in labor for a 1-hour job). Since that quote seemed extensive, I researched online and called another shop where I was quoted $175-$225 for all three belts incl. labor. I told Newberry that I wont move forward with the repair and will pick up my car the same afternoon. While picking up my car, I was told that I owed a $90 inspection fee. I argued that the quote I received over the phone was 3x cheaper compared to what I was quoted when the car was there but the lady I spoke to to insisted that I owed the $90.I just picked up my car this morning from the other shop where the grand total was $182 for all three belts instead of the quoted $540 at Newberry.Moral of the story- never go to Newberry unless you want to get ripped off, pay 3x market rates, and receive unfriendly service on top of it.

The guys that did the work were great however everyone else in the process seemed put out that I didn’t know the drill here. New berry is in with Chevron. In fact both people that recommended this spot to do my inspection called it Chevron. The chevron gal that answered my original call was rude and told me that automotive that not them and hung up. When I arrived and found myself “at the front” to show proof of insurance at the convenience store cashier (same gal as on the phone) but was ignored, I went down to the bays to ask if there was another “front”. The gal there was short and said to go wait there and she’d be up soon. Blah blah.Once I got back into interaction with the guys that do the actual work, service improved dramatically. The car was done in 10 minutes as promised.

Went in for a routine annual inspection. The person who came out was yelling and talking very fast, almost incoherently. He first yelled at me to produce insurance and then yelled to hand him the key. I did both. I walked outside and waited patiently for him to inspect the car. He came out continuing to yell and say something else incoherently. I tried to explain I was having a hard time understanding him, and then he shouted for me to sit my a$$ down on the bench and wait for him to pull the car around. When he took the car away for an inspection, I thought he might do some damage, as he seemed very angry and unstable. When done, he parked the car and stormed back inside the store. I followed him in (to pay for the inspection) and tried not to get hit by the door that he flung open. He one more time yelled at me for a credit card, which I had ready. I thanked him for helping me today, and left. Maybe it was COVID rage or he simply was having a bad day, but I literally felt unsafe and threatened. Ive had 3 inspections done at this location over the past two years, but will never go back.

Charged me $90 to diagnose the problem and then responded after that that there was something funky as there diagnosis and after that told me it would be $120 an hour to fully figure out what the problem was.

I had to go out of town at the last minute and a tail light went out on me. I was getting gas at the store they are located in and decided to swing around and ask if they could change it for. I didnt anticipate that they would be able to get to it right away but to my surprise they were able to. The guy changed it within 5 minutes I was on my way. I appreciate them getting me in so quickly. Cost = $16.

Went to Newberry automotive for convenience, it was close by. Got an oil change, left and the next day my engine seized up. They forgot to put the bolt oil plug back on. Engine was totaled. filed a claim on my insurance and gave Newberry a chance to put a new engine in themselves. I realize now that was a mistake. Things were not properly sealed and real shotty work is ruining this new engine. Its been a year alomst and only just now Im experiencing the after effects. They arent honoring the waranty, At this point im filing suit. Ive missed a lot of wrk because if this.

Walked in to get an inspection and was greeted by Yvette. I said I had an appointment (not in the literal sense but just to say I had let them know I was coming). Yvette scoffed at me and said We dont do appointments. When I tried to explain she cut me off and said Go get your insurance. in the most rude, unprofessional manner possible. As I walked back to my car I heard her call out to her coworkers laughing and mocking me for saying I had an appointment. Terrible, awful place and lots of negative energy for 7:50 in the morning. Wouldnt recommend it to any in the area.

I come here for oil changes and inspections, head light replacements etc and the guys are professional and the people up front are super nice. They dont take reservations but if you come early mornings its quick. I like that its in a gas station because you can get coffee and other items while you wait. They have all my history on file so they already know what needs to be done. Ive been coming here for 2+ years now and never had a complaint.

I have been getting inspections & oil changes here for 4 years now with only a few issues; sometimes just under-filling on oil but everyone has that issue. Ive had two minor problems with very obvious fixes that ive had to take to other mechanics (newberry couldnt figure out how to change my trans fluid and i once had a misplaced fuse in my fuse box). Came to this place out of convenience but after my last experience im done.Last week I took my vehicle in for noise coming from what i was 99% sure was a bad bearing, but i couldnt isolate it to a specific wheel while driving. I needed newberry to pop it on the lift and scope it for me. Long story short, they very quickly conclude that this noise was coming from my transmission which would basically mean totaling out my vehicle. This is a humming coming right up the steering column; very obviously noise coming off the road and it increases while cornering - stereotypical bearing noise. After some brief pushback and eyerolling from the techs i just paid the diagnostic fee and left. I took my car to one of austins best mechanics where they actually listened to what i wanted - popped the car on lift and isolated the noise to FR bearing. I went to oreillys the next day, got a new hub assembly and swapped it in 45 minutes for $85. The noise is entirely gone and the old bearing is very obviously shot. Ive asked newberry for a refund on the diagnostic fee, mostly out of the principle of being outrageously wrong and how they were 100% confident in themselves with no real deductive reasoning. I havent gotten a response from them. They also rotated my tires after i asked them not to (i told them i had already tried this to rule out tire noise) so ill need to waste more time getting them rotated back.

Great, great service. Had a overheating issue due to a belt breaking. It was taken in around 10am and they had it done by 6pm that evening. Very decently priced too!

Ive used Newberry for years and they have always been awesome to me. They are honest and do great work. Several times they have found trivial things wrong with my vehicle and just fixed it really quick for no charge. On the larger things they have taken good care of me as well. They also honor their guarantees. I had a starter motor replaced there and it went out again about 6 months later. They just redid it, no questions asked. I always recommend them to friends.

I usually go to this place for the automatic car wash and to get an annual inspection. Recently, I went in for a tune up for a few things that have been getting worse over the last year. They gave me an estimate that afternoon and followed up with an update as they were working on the car, as it was going to take a bit longer than expected which I appreciated.They are super friendly and did a great job.

These guys are first class. constantly other mechanics tell me to do all this other work, but these guys consistently give me more information and tell me all the things i dont need that others say are desperately needed. from the past couple years of experience with them (and my two old cars) i have every reason to trust them. period.

I was afraid to take my car to a mechanic since there are so many people out there who are quick to take you for your money. And being a single parent you need every penny you can save. Finally took my Cadillac here for the first time for brake noise and an oil change. Service Advisor James informed me I still had brake life on my brakes but most of the noise was coming from a leaking rear differential. Instead of taking me for my money he told me to contact my dealer for warranty repair. What do you know he was 100% right. The repair was covered under warranty at the dealer but I still had my oil changed with them. Not only am I confident that they know what they are doing here but I dont have to worry about getting robbed here. All the staff was kind and professional. I will for sure be back for future services.

Stopped in frantic Sunday morning because something was dragging under my car and I had to drive home to Fort Worth. The mechanic got me fixed up in 20 minutes and told me what needed to actually be fixed versus what the dealership is probably going to try to sell me when I bring my car in. If I lived in Austin this would definitely be my place.

Went in there on short notice because I was hearing an exhaust vibration. They put it on the rack and fixed it in a jiff without needing to order parts. They didnt even charge me! I will definitely come back to them if I need any further help with my car.

This is an auto shop conveniently located for anyone living nearby. That is the only reason I kept bringing my car here over the past year and a half despite poor service, continuous delays, and constant miscommunication.In all fairness, this shop does a good job of fixing cars. The real issue is lack of customer service. The last time I brought my car in, I received an initial price estimate of $150 for a service they eventually charged over $500 for. They also kept giving me false information of when my car would be ready, resulting in numerous unnecessary uber trips as I left my car in the shop being told that it would be ready the next day - turned out to be almost a weeks worth of going back and forth to the shop.Despite my bad history with Newberry, I took my car back because its so close to my place that I really wanted to have a good experience here. It would be so convenient for this shop to do a quality job through and through. That has not been my experience.My car is currently in the shop to get a sensor fixed to pass inspections. I called at the end of today to see if it was ready for pickup After confirming my name, they told me it was ready and I could pick it up before they close. I left work early to uber in rush hour traffic across town to make it in time. I arrived and was informed my car wasnt ready, and they had not even started work on it. They had simply made a mistake in telling me it was ready, but they would get it fixed first thing tomorrow.That is the standard I have come to accept from Newberry. Nice mechanics who do fair work, but they have constant delays and miscommunication that result in lost time and money on my part.PS - Ill be sure to update if the car is actually ready tomorrow.

I used to love this place for getting oil changes on my car...but dont even think about taking a diesel truck in here, they markup their oil prices over 100% of RETAIL. I was charged $100 for oil that should have only cost $50. The manager told me when I called to complain that he, AS A SHOP pays more than what I can buy the oil for at RETAIL....UPDATE: I just got off the phone with a Ford dealer and they quoted me $108 for the exact same oil change. These clowns charged me $147.

Difficult to find because theres no sign its just in the Chevron station. Sadly enough I couldnt use their services because their computers are limited (? I dont know either). Friendly staff is the only reason for 2 stars not 1. Would be great if management fixed their limited computer system.

I took my car here when my check engine light came on. The issue came back several days after the work they did, and after my 2nd trip there said it was an issue they couldnt work on and said my car had internal motor damage they couldnt work on (thousands to fix).I took it somewhere else for a 2nd opinion and it ended up being something much less costly and minor issue.

Why do I bother trying to go anywhere else! Went to Jiffy Lube to get an inspection because it was convenient. What a laugh! Tech didnt show up, or showed up late and there is ALWAYS a problem. Not a Newberry. Had inspections done there and I was out the door in 10 minutes. Once, I got an inspection and oil change. 20 minutes and cheaper than anywhere else. They did make a mistake on a repair but the TOOK CARE OF ME! I learned my lesson. Its Newberry from now on!

I’ve used these guys for years. For those that say they are rude, remember that Newberry’s is the shop in the back and not the Chevron station. The lady that works the register for Chevron is awful.As for Newberry’s, they have treated me great. One time my truck wouldn’t start and I had it towed to them. They narrowed the problem down to a couple of electrical problems that were causing the fuse to the fuel pump to blow, either of which would cost @ $1000 to fix. He then handed me a bag of fuses and said that they cost $.40 each, and that he had marked the fuse that was blowing for me.Another time they did some work and when I went to pick it up, the A/C had stopped working. The other work hadn’t even been in the area that the A/C problem was at, but the manager fixed the issue without charging me any labor and we split the cost of the part.These are good folks that do great work.

Got an inspection done here and headed to the DMV afterwards to get the title and registration done. It ends up the VIN they wrote down had three digits that were incorrect. I understand mistakes are made but this is a complete lack of attention to detail.

Wow. Rudest group of people I have ever met. I got yelled at and told to move my vehicle three times, even though I parked where she told me. The woman that yelled at me would be fired if she worked at my company and talked to my clients the way she talks to Newberry Automotive’s paying customers. I’m shocked at her attitude and that she literally yelled at me for parking where she told me to park.Add: I also overheard her bragging about her gun and joking about shooting a friend. Highly unprofessional.

I paid $500 to have an oil leak fixed. Oil continued to leak afterwards, so they fixed the wrong part (the most expensive part conveniently). When I went back, they replaced my lost oil and charged me $80, even though it was their fault the oil was still leaking. Ive been back there 7 times, leaving my vehicle there overnight some of these times. They say its fixed each time, but my car still pours oil. 12 Uber rides later and many days without a car, my car is STILL there being fixed. Theyre also rude and neverapologize for not fixing the issue. And you have to keep calling them to finally get your car back. I recommend using service department for the make/model of vehicle you own. These guys are horrible.

My car was towed in for fuel tank replacement on a Wednesday. They said would have part late Thursday or friday. I called Friday and they said would have part Monday before 4th of July holiday Tuesday. I Called Monday and said they would have it Wednesday. Called Wednesday... No. Called Thursday and they finally had the part. While I get they depend the suppliers they do have a choice in suppliers and should take responsibility to stick to timelines.
