I own a 1968 Chevy C10 with a Chevy 350 in it which needed to be rebuilt or replaced. I live up north in Windsor however found Colorado Engine and spoke with Terry and decided to stop by one afternoon to chat about the possibility of a new engine. Terry said right up front that they no longer do older vehicles however after showing him a few pictures and giving him the story about the truck he said that he would love to be part of this project.Terry gave me a list of what the project would involve and we worked together to acquire the necessary parts to complete the truck.Take a look at the before and after pictures of my truck!Thank you Terry for your help with my truck, I could be more happy about the results!David
I brought my car to Co Engine after blowing my engine due to a tune up gone wrong (my fault!) I waited to review this business to allow time (9 months) and miles on the used engine to see if it was a lemon. Somewhat concerned with a used harvested engine. But, just completed trip to east coast. Engine was driven 48 hours straight for 3,000 miles. No problems. Engine runs extremely well. Strong and smooth. Valvetrain is clean. Bottom end appeared new. Ran diagnostics after engine was installed. These guys have a good source for used engines and know how to install them.
These guys are absolutely the best! This is the first review I have ever written about ANY business, but Terry and Tony and all the others here are awesome! They put in a power steering motor on my 2003 Pilot today for half the price of the dealership and, as always, they did a better job, too! I have been bringing vehicles here for years! They have more knowledge and experience than anybody out there! (I apologize to Terry for not thanking them in public with a review before today!)
Came in for a quote on service based on reccomendations from Malaise Motors Facebook group. George and Terry were great at instilling confidence in their ability to do the work needed on my car. Great customer service, I will update this review after the service is done and let the work reflect my rating. So far so good.
Great people and results from this locally owned business. Highly recommend.
I HAVE A 1993 F150 XLT 4X4. I KNEW THE TIME WAS COMING TO REPLACE THE 5.8 ENGINE. WE WORKED OUT A DEAL, AND I HAD MY TRUCK TOWED TO THEIR FACILITY ON W56th AVE. THE PRICE WAS REASONABLE AND I THOUGHT THE SHOP WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL. I PAID THE DEPOSIT FOR THE NEW CRATE ENGINE, AND THEY SAID IT WOULD BE ABOUT 3 WEEKS TO RECEIVE THE MOTOR. THE TIMME FRAME WAS JUST AS THEY SAID. UPON STARTING MY PROJECT I MET WITH THEM IN THEIR SHOP AND WE DISCUSSED ALL MY CONCERNS. THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS, THE COMMUNICATION WAS VERY GOOD, AND I COULD NOT OF BEEN MORE HAPPY WITH THEIR COMMUNICATION TO ME. I DELT WITH TERRY & TONY, AND THERE PROFESSIONALISM WAS OFF THE CHARTS. BOTH REALLY GOOD GUYS. I DO NOT FEEL LIKE MY JOB WAS THE AVERAGE RUN OF THE MILL ENGINE SWAP. I WANTED DETAIL, AND WAS WILLING TO PAY FOR IT. NATE WAS MY MECHANIC, AND I CANT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT HIM. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. AFTER ALL THE BS COMPANIES I HAVE DELT WITH AROUND THE DENVER AREA, LET ME TELL YOU HOW REFRESHING IT WAS TO DEAL WITH A SHOP THAT NOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND REALLY CARES. MY TEUCK IS MY BABY, AND I KNOW THEY REALISED THAT FROM OUR CONVERSATIONS. MY JOB COST WAS NOT CHEAP BUT I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. I WILL USE THIS SHOP FROM NOW ON, AND WILL NOT WASTE MY TIME WITH ANY OTHER SHOP IN TOWN!!! I WILL INCLUDE SOME PICTURES, AND YOU CAN COME TO YOUR OWN DECISION ON THE JOB THEY PERFORMED FOR ME. HIGHLY HIGHLY THINK YOU SHOULD PUT YOUR FAITH IN COLORADO ENGINE AS WELL.THANKS, RANDY LITTLETON, CO.
Very satisfied had a small issue a week later they fixed it and everything has been great 👍 crate engine installed
These folks put a new engine in my ‘88 Bronco 2, and they did great work. So much can go wrong in a job like that, yet they seem to have nailed all the details. Just had my 500 mile checkup — clean and clear all the way.I would recommend not being in a rush when you have work done at this shop. I say this because both times I’ve had work done, it took twice as long as they estimated to complete the job. The engine swap took two months instead of one, and my 500 mile checkup/oil change took two hours instead of one. Doesn’t affect my recommendation, though, since what’s vastly more important is that the job gets done right, and these folks get the job done right. So I fully recommend them, with that word to the wise — be sure to schedule yourself accordingly and you’ll have a good experience here.
I reached out to over 20 places for quotes on a timing belt and water pump on my 2004 Tundra. Colorado Engine provided the best quote from a price standpoint, so I decided on them. The work performed was great! the final price was exactly what was quoted which is always awesome because often times it ends up being more $$$. Terry & Tony were excellent through the process from quote to payment. They have definitely earned my trust & I will be back for any needs I may have. Give them a chance to earn your trust as well and you wont be disappointed!
Great customer service! I needed a new engine in my Ram 1500 and they had the best price and warranty. Will definitely use them again.
Professional service, and well run shop
They do EXCELLENT WORK.Picked up 2008 Trailblazer they replaced engine in and it runs like it did when it was new. If you need auto work done this is the place to go. You can Trust them to do a GREAT JOB. Thanks Guys
This is a great place to get your vehicle serviced. The mechanics are knowledgeable and very helpful
If you need a motor for your car go hear they did me right good place to go
They are GREAT. I do not lile to take any of my cars to anyone but them.
Colorado Engine is fantastic! Whether I need an oil change or more extensive repairs & maintenance done on my 2012 Subaru theyve been able to help me out and save me costs by only recommending necessary repairs. Our trusted local shop.
The guys down at Colorado Engine went above an beyond to make sure that my truck ran right again. I will never take my vehicles to another mechanic ever again.
Super reliable without breaking the bank. I can pretty much count on them for anything. They keep my vehicles safe and mountian ready! #shoplocal #coloradoproud
Latinos beware!!I cant say Ive had any work done by these guys, they couldnt earn my trust in two simple interactions.Over a year ago I bought a van that failed emissions. They took one look at me and told me it needed a new motor. I changed the O2 sensor myself and it passed!I recently emailed them for two different quotes on a different vehicle. I received a 4 word response that showed they obviously didnt read my email. As far as Im concerned, this shop decides the kind of service you will receive based on how you look or if you have a Latin last name in your email.
I am very happy to report that Colorado Engines just saved me at least $3,000. Planet Honda in Golden told me that I had a blown head gasket and needed a new engine. Colorado Engine in the process of replacing my engine called me and told me that my current engine is just fine and all I really need is a new radiator cap. For sure I am now a loyal customer.
Great service! Willing to answer any engine related questions.
Great service, great guys!
Professional staff with great customer service.
These boys do full on engines and transmissions. They dont beat around the bush they offered grade a service not sure if the years that they deal in. The Rock Solid owner has 40 plus years in the business and is always looking for the best and brightest to serve the metro area. Being an automotive for 17 years I can tell you these boys dont play and they can work on one of my 25 cars any day.
Ive been to several auto shops in Denver over the years and its nice to finally know of a place I can trust. Colorado Engine replaced the engine in my Honda in 2018 and, considering the scope of the work, were more than fair on pricing. Turnaround times are reasonable, staff is friendly, Id recommend them to anyone looking for peace of mind when it comes to vehicle repair/maintenance.
The engine replacement works just fine, the service was great! I would recommend this company to anyone having engine problems. I was also pleased with the repair work on the rear view mirror and the battery replacement. Dave
Great products!
Honest, good ppl
Great services...good dudes...and really reasonable pricing! They do way more than just engines and they do it all well! Did and LS engine swap on my truck, suspension, and exhaust. Runs so smooth now.
Honest service with fair prices. Diagnosis of problems and repairs were fast and efficient. Thanks guys, you will get more business from me.
Lady never returned my call as she said she would. Lost my business quick and easy.
Our family owned manufacturing company continues to use Colorado Engine to service all our service trucks and personal vehicles. George and his team not only have the technical talent to service a variety of vehicles but they take their customer service very seriously and make sure their work is done right. Ive seen the test equipment in their shop and its top quality to ensure safety and reliable results for their repairs. I highly recommend Colorado Engine to all small business owners, fleet managers and individual car owners.
Great place to get a motor replaced in a truck. but ever since I took my car in I now I have a over torqued oil pan bolt that is stripped and ever since I did a tune up I have oil or fluid coming from the coil pack area and I know coil packs dont leak .......
Great guys. Great service. Trustworthy and stand behind their work. I have had them put two motors in my Suburban (Wife blew up the first one) & also put a new motor in a Jeep for my daughters first car. They can do all types of work and I go to them even though they are not close to my home for even my oil changes because I can trust them to be honest and fair.
Big thank you to Terry, and Tony over at Colorado Engine. Took my truck to another mechanic and was told I needed a new engine, so based off of stellar online reviews i took my truck to Colorado engine. They took the time to diagnose the engine before just replacing it and called to let me know that it didnt in fact need a new engine, rather just some minor repairs. Thanks for saving me Five grand! Will definitely be a return customer. If you need engine repair or replacement, these are the people to see. Fair, Honest, and economical. THANKS COLORADO ENGINE
We took our 2008 Jeep Wrangler into Colorado Engines because Larry Miller Chrysler/Jeep on W. 104th Ave told us that it most likely needed a replacement engine at a cost of $ 7,000.00. Terry & Tony started troubleshooting it right in the parking lot. We left it with them and they called the next day to inform us that the engine is fine and that it only required a MAP Sensor at a cost of $ 285.00 (including labor). We could not be happier with their honest professional service. We would highly recommend Colorado Engines.
I got my engine replaced here and they have gone above and beyond with their customer service. Highly recommend this shop.
I have a Honda Accord with over 300,000 miles, so it regularly needs TLC. George and the Colorado Engine crew always give me a fair estimate and deliver really high quality service. Oil changes to engine rebuilds, these guys do it all.George found out that Im Active Duty Military and provided a really nice discount... I didnt even ask for it!!! I think he also extends the courtesy to teachers, firefighters, and cops, but Im not certain.
Great job replacing my engine
What a great company! I had no idea where to turn when my 03 Jeep Liberty needed a new engine. By chance, I came across Colorado Engine and the team there honestly explained my options to repair, replace or do nothing. I decided to replace the entire engine and was quoted a very fair price compared with two additional estimates. The job was completed when promised, came in under the quote and the Jeep is running like new.Fast forward one year, the Jeep runs like new, I have been a return customer for all oil changes, they are always friendly and the wait time is minimal. I will continue to take my Jeep to Colorado Engine as well as my other vehicles for routine maintenance and repairs. They do an amazing job, they are fairly priced, stand behind their work and well worth the trip from any part of the metro area.
I have been bringing my autos and trucks to Colorado Engine for at least 5 years and have always received courteous, knowledgeable, and quality work. Most of the work received has been for my German made cars (Audis) and Ford truck with major work being transmissions for an Audi A8 and for a F-250 super duty. Those vehicles continue to perform like new three years afterward. The price I paid for work at Colorado Engine has always been reasonable and fair.. I dont understand the negative post shown here since engines and transmissions are always re manufactured from a quality supplier with an excellent warranty unless specifically ordered differently. That is what brings the value Colorado Engine offers. You can be confident Colorado Engine will provide quality work and stand behind it.
WHAT AN AWESOME PLACE!!! I REALLY ENJOY WORKING WITH TERRY HE HAS A GREAT ATTITUDE AND VERY KIND PERSON. HE IS ALWAYS UP FRONT AND HONEST, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!!
Dont take your car to a dealer to get service on your vehicle. Its expensive, and in my case, caused engine failure due to negligence with no accoutability. My car sat for a while while I carefully reviewed places to get a remanufactured engine. Top of the list was Colorado Engine, and for good reason. They have been in business for many years and everything felt right about them. I was not disappointed. Terry and Tony took great care of me and my car. They took the time to explain the process and the parts to get my car back on the road. The price was right and the work was done right too. I trust them and am glad I chose Colorado Engine for this major service!
I was told that my Ford diesel 7.3 engine had blown a head gasket from my diesel guy across town who has done a ton of work for me over the years. Colorado Engine gave me a better price to drop in a remanufactured engine, so I brought it to them to make it happen. They told me right away that they took a good look at the engine and couldnt see anything wrong with it - the problem was just a couple hundred $ worth of radiator work! They couldve just threw in a full engine and charged me $10K Were now a lifelong brand loyalist for this team. The trucks gone another 1000 miles - no problems. Thank you Colorado Engine!
There is a reason Colorado Engine has been a trusted auto mechanic for 30 years. I have been going to them for 1 year now, which has been for as simple as an oil change/check to more severe engine repair and each time I am treated professionally and timely. Considering the amount of business owners who trust their commercial vehicles there, I feel confident that George and Terry run a good show. Highly recommended A+++. Take it from a guy who is holding on to a car at 200k + miles
Ive had Colorado Engine do work on both my cars over the last three years and I can say they are friendly, helpful, and do great work at a fair price. They stand behind their work and thats why I will continue to bring my cars to them.
Ive been dealing with an interesting situation with a warranty company who have been a nightmare! Terry on the other hand has been about the only thing to remind me that good honest people still exist! These guys have been great, very informative and helpful. I would suggest these guys to anyone in need of the services they provide.
Ripping people off and breaking things in the process. They didnt put a bunch of skrews and bolts back in, and Im always finding something new they messed up on my brothers truck. Gave him a long run-around even with multiple other mechanics showing them what they did wrong. Its easy to tell that most of the positive reviews are fake. No one talks or writes like that.
If I could give them more than five stars, I would! I travel most of the U.S.A. on business, and Colorado Engine is not only the hands down BEST mechanic shop anywhere, but also the only ones I trust to keep me safe on the road. Most of my driving is through rural, desolate, lacking even cell phone coverage parts of the West, and I need the best maintenance possible to keep me from breaking down in the middle of nowhere, at the mercy of tow trucks and shade tree mechanics. Colorado Engine have been doing this superbly for me since 2011, I go nowhere else!! Every year they go over my truck and van in the winter, and every year I drive over mountain passes and across deserts without a single breakdown! Trustworthy and reliable. Thank you, Terry and Tony!!!
Who doesnt freak out when they need engine work? Between the guaranteed minimum costs, what mechanics can be trusted? Well my experience at Colorado Engine assuaged those fears. They were honest, yet cautiously stepped down the road of speculation with me of what I could expect post-work while being careful to professionally protect their liability. They quoted me higher than the work cost, because when they got into my engine they realized that it did not need the full scope, and stopped the work there, saving me a substantial amount. Additionally, the truck now runs great! Thanks!
Get prices and customer service!
I just want to take a minuet and thank the team at Colorado engine Terry and John or Tony(forgot the gentlemen’s name who dropped my truck off) I believe. for helping me out and taking great care of my truck initially my engine was blown and we settled on a realistic number for what was needed to be done than 1-2 months later my truck was having another issue they took me in right away started their diagnostic procedures and found a couple of issues and repaired them they also gave me a loaner car which I was so grateful for the loaner car had some issues terry had John drop my truck off to me and pick up the loaner with no issue at all. I’am very grateful for this team, for keep me and my family safe and on the road. They also provided me with one of the best warranties you could find for a 14yr old truck. I will recommend them to anyone who needs work done thank you terry and the team at Colorado Engine have a wonderful and safe 4th of July
I have a 77 Dodge Charger that sat in storage for 10+ years. Called and talked to Terry about getting it running again. He made no promises but outlined a process to possibly get it running. Towed the car to the team at Colo Engine. They went through the process and the engine came back to life with Substantially less cost (~$1,100) vs what I expected (5-10K). They also got me hooked up with body, glass installer and muffler shops. Colo Engine and their team has been a very positive experience!!
Very good experience. All was done as promised, price was better than 3 other quotes. And my Subaru is running like a top. I would recommend anyone to check them out.
My experience with colorado engine in Arvada CO was good. The employees and the owner were great. The 350 engine we purchased runs like a top. I would recommend that you call them.
Be very leary of their work. I spent 12,000 with them to do a 5.3 to 6.0 ls swap and trans rebuild and transfer case reseal. Truck was supposed to be dyno tuned but I never got a sheet nor any numbers from them, plus I strongly feel it most likely would not be right anyways because they did not even tension the throttle cable correctly, it wouldnt even open past half throttle!Furthermore, I am now having to pay $5,000 again to completely replace the transmission and reseal the transfer case again after less then 20,000 miles. These clowns wouldnt even look at it because its been more than 12 months.Buyer Beware!!!!!!
Very professional in the work they did and in and great timely manner, numbers on cost of work done was different on bill then what was promised, but its the type of world we live in. It did leave a bad taste in my mouth, but hope that what goes around comes around.
Love these guys! spent months trying to find a transmission for my jeep and i about to give up when i came across colorado engine, they had my jeep for about a month. Pull my shredded tans out and had it rebuilt by another shop and re installed it with a new clutch and even had my flywheel turned. Terry is the main man behind the desk up there he took great care of me and my jeep and i couldnt be happier with the work that was done!
I have used colorado engines for many years on my classic cars and most recent on my 67 chevelle which i thought had a little to much cam in it for me, Terry replaced with a more functional one adjusted the carb. to it and it runs great and a lot smoother with great performance. as usual they did a great job. Thanks Terry
These guys are awesome . Very helpful. I will definately go back.
I never write any reviews on a business, but felt the need to tell other people about the experience I had here. My mustang was not starting and I was told by another shop that my engine was seized ( needs to be replaced), so I called around, the price Colorado Engine quoted me was lower than any one elses so I had my car towed to Colorado Engine. After their inspection they find I had a broken flywheel. These guys are honest they could have taken my money and replaced my engine. The flywheel cost a lot less to repair than an replacing the engine. These guys saved me a ton of money and my car has never run better. Thanks Colorado Engine!!!
I have brought many vehicles here. They are honest, and fair. Every other place I go to seems to leave a bad taste in my mouth, but these guys are my go to.
Installing engines is their specialty and they can do it pretty quick, however cleanup not so much. Second time using their service, similar results with both visits. Plus side, they got me taken care of with an engine warranty claim without issue. Would give 5 stars on that service, but the final fit/finish of the install was disappointing and rushed. The grill was sitting low/poorly spaced. After some checking, i found it missing at least 2 lower bolts on grill header panel asembly so grill/headlight assembly moves in the center, also missing A/C high pressure and low pressure cap, found a plastic spacer for A/C lines just left laying in the engine compartment near the battery, headlight screws mixed with grill screws with a sheet metal screw thrown in for a lost screw, and multiple grease hand prints on interior door panels and exterior door/fender/bumper. Again, they do a great job on the engine swaps and have a lot of detail there, they just dont follow through with that for the rest of the project.
Lied to us about whet we got. We were told we would get a 400 HP motor and paid a fortune for it and only got a 250 HP motor and it was to be a 383 and when we had the cubic inch test done it was only a 350. Tranny still leaks after being in the shop 5 times and it was excuse after excuse from Terry. Lies and lies just to make a buck. Dont go here. After $10,000 and excuse and lies afternlies and 4 weeks past deadline it was honestly less power then before.
I contacted Colorado Engines for a price qoute for new remanufactured factory engine after a mechanic from a different shop had diagnosed a cracked head on my daughters vehicle. I spoke with George at Colorado Engines about some concerns that I had about remanufactured factory engines and the business of replacement engines. I looked at tons of reviews from different suppliers. Some good some not so good....and I must admit that I unfairly passed judgment on the good people of Colorado Engines. I assumed they were trying to take advantage of my daughters situation. I tried to make a deal off the price that George quoted me through email. George called me and we talked for good while.... He answered my questions, he seemed to gracefully forgive me for being an ignorant ass... (I am saying that about myself). George was very patient with me. After I hung up the phone, I continued to look at Jasper, Powertrain products, and Remann and a few more Remanufactured engine suppliers. I got a lot of emails from these places to buy from them. After a few day George had Terry from his shop call me and see if I had anymore questions. Terry asked me how I knew the engine had a cracked head and offered to do a diagnoses on the engine. I agreed..... thinking the entire time that I was going to have to help my daughter pay this bill. The appointment was made for a Tuesday Morning. My daughter dropped it off, and went to work. She was anxiously waiting for the bad news. They had the truck for most of the day, looked it over, took it for a good long spin and told my daughter that there was no need to change the engine. NOW... heres the best part! George knew that I had already planned on buying an engine to help my daughter out and I already said Id be paying for it. That folks is good business in my book! He could have easily told us that we needed a new engine and it would have been easy money for them.Instead, he did the right thingI am forever grateful to George and Terry at Colorado Engines in Arvada. He has earned my daughters future business with her vehicle needs.Thank you and GOD bless you!
Beware of this operator. Their lure you in when slick talk. They will tell you one thing on the phone, but when you ask for the info in writing you get a different story. They charge exorbitant prices for any replacement parts not included in the initial package. Up to 200% of the retail price you would pay at NAPA Auto parts. They try to poo poo NAPA Auto parts as not fitting and inferior in quality. All this after they start the job even when the invoice they send you for authorization tells you the job has not yet started; so you are stuck. NEVER again!
Great people. Work was done on time
Colorado Engine was very easy to work with, and even had a loaner car I could borrow while they put a new engine in my Jeep. They were very polite, professional, honest, and fair. Thank you!
Where do i begin to describe how amazing this place is? I needed a new engine and Tony took the time to go over all my options until i decided to go with a new crate engine. He was happy to answer any questions I had in easy to undertand terms. It only took a week to install, they even had a loaner car ready for me for that week! Tony explained what i needed to do to break in my new engine and now im back getting my oil changed. I also have yad my transmission flushed so now my car runs better than ever! Everyone at CO Engine is super nice and helpful. I highly recommend CO Engine for ur car needs!!
Worst experience ever. I asked for a crate motor and received a re-manufactured motor, and when I called him on it he said I was uneducated. Then I had to pay a core charge of $400 to keep my old motor when there is no core charge on a crate motor. On top of that they stole my oil pump, oil pan, and timing cover off my core. I also asked for them to align it and it wont stop pulling to the right. So in the end I lost a lot of money and a lot of good parts and in return I get a re-manufactured motor from LKQ (junkyard) and thats assuming that its not a used motor that they painted. Terry said they would need 5-7 days and it took them 2-1/2 weeks to do it. This is ridiculous. Id say save your money and go elsewhere cause these crooks have been doing this for 30 years.
I went to a Schomp Honda dealership for service on my 2006 Honda Ridgeline. The day after I brought the car back the engine light and vtm-4 light started turning on. This had never happened before. Rather than look into it, Ralph Schomp put me off and did not return my calls to the service manager. I took the car to another dealership who indicated the spark plug threads were stripped and new engine heads were required: $10,000 dollars for heads or $8,500 for a used engine.A friend of mine recommended Colorado Engine. Over the phone, they gave me a bid of $4,800-5,000 for a replacement engine. After they looked into it, they were able to re-drill the threads for the spark plug to fix it. They were kind professional and honest and my service was only $350. My friend has a similarly excellent experience, I cannot recommend them highly enough.
These guy rock, Terry, Tony and George highly recommend them for any auto needs
Mediocre shop. Installed a coolant line wrong.
Great Staff!
I really wanted to experience their 4.5 star service but they couldnt even call as promised to tow the car and start the work. Im not sure I want them working on my classic car if they dont even know how to use a calendar or phone.
Great service and very honest mechanics
Had a rough rebuild with a classic car engine. First one had a piston scuff the wall and it was back to have another full pull and rebuild done within a week of initially getting it back. BUT, I do think this was a rare occurrence and I would say they did stick by their warranty and did make it right. Prices were quite fair as well so the value is there overall.
The pricing and service I received at Colorado Engine is the best automotive repair experience I have ever had.
They build our motors .. 100% spot on every time. ..
I can’t speak highly enough about these guys, just imagine all the best things your grandfather could tell you about how a business should treat you, Colorado Engine takes those ideals into the 21st century.
Best in the Business.
They know their stuff! Professional service for sure. I drove away very satisfied with the work they did for me.
